...and Shiro, Lara Croft Guy, and GothBard had just completed a mission (at level 49) and a level 109 guy just ran up and started trying to kill Lara Croft Guy. Since PVP is "semi-optional" (unless you enable it, hostile players do very little damage to you) it was an amazing display of <expletive deleted>.
The guy just locked on to Lara Croft Guy, beating on him, following him around, making sure that he couldn't play the game. For a solid 6 minutes.
Don't people have anything better to do with their lives?
(And is it any wonder I refuse to even own an online game where you can't 100% disable PvP?)
Sounds pretty standard to me. Some people just get their rocks off making life troublesome for lower level players, simply because they can.
And no, they dont have anything better to do. I guarantee you, this guy picking on your friend was probably in a chat program like TeamSpeak or Skype or Discord as well, and likely bragging to friends and guildmates about how he's ruining the game for some lowbies.
And people here (on Paizo, not specifically FAWTL) wondered why I had such a visceral rejective reaction to the intended inability to deny/turn off PVP in PF Online. (Blast from the past there, huh?)

I consider it passable at best.
OPM is orders of magnitude better, with a similar world.
You are in fact allowed to like them both. Plus at least MHA has put out more then 1 freakin season!
It was a short season too!

So this person locked themselves out of there room with the dead bolt engaged. I can't even imagine how you can get out of the room with the dead bolt locked. I am racking my brain trying to figure out a way and I would say its impossible if he hadn't of done it.
Umm...the deadbolt was just barely unlocked and when they slammed the door it fell over into the locked position? Maybe? And I really hope that doesn't happen here because I have no idea how to open the deadbolts. I suspect that the lock breaker might do it, but I am not going to try.
Or, I guess they do actually have another person in the room, but don't want to tell you because they are afraid for some reason (like they think they'll get charged a higher rate).

As if that mattered I could care less if they fit a clown car in there. I guess the fire marshal might care, but no somehow he managed to leave the room him being the only one in there and somehow dead bolted it. Now my first thought was that it was an adjoining room so maybe they went out a different door but that was not the case they didn't know the person in the other room.
Like so far the most plausible explanation is the thing you said with it being not quite locked but them slamming the door somehow locked it. Which our locks are the little tab thing you just give a short turn to and it bolts it so its still not very likely.

Later I'll upload a video on me doing mortal kombat at normal on beatsaber on my Google drive, but the angle wasn't good since I couldn't get the big screen this time, so all you can see is my arse and how the score is going.
When I get wifi since that video is 404 MB.
There's quite a bit of @ss shaking. Else I really cannot move fast enough.

I used the words alliance scum =( My BF is a bad influence. Honestly I would have selected alliance rather then Horde since they look prettier, beside the Alliance is more lawful then the Horde, but whatever, my BFs in the Horde.
And of course he says the Horde acts more honorably then the alliance. He's actually helped alliance players fight off monsters when they're in a bad scrap.

I've never been interested in MMOs for several reasons, and PvP is one of the big ones. Especially the kind of stuff you're talking about: high level players messing with low level ones. I remember hearing a guy I knew talk about doing that (maybe in WoW, I don't remember) and thinking "Why are you bragging about that? There was no challenge. You were just being an a*!@+%#."

It used to be a thing (and you can do non pvp srvers btw) that some alliance scum would come to the horde starting area and kill noobs. So then we high level horde players would have to go in and gank some gankers. That in its way is fun. They started it so they deserve it.
I hardly ever remember horde players doing that kind of thing.
I think there was a gaming survey back in the late 90's ranking the Biggest A-holes in gaming. The alliance apparently won it with flying colors. Despite the fact that it was for an individual not a group.

I was watching a video on a food channel on YouTube, and they were reading some comments from some of their other videos. I liked the one that went "I swear to god, if one more of you g#+#~+ned idiots puts g+$%$#ned creme fraiche in your g**#+*ned scrambled eggs I will f+%&ing kill myself". That is a person with a strong opinion of creme fraiche.

Hey if they are going to go around killing horde noobs then you have to go and kill them back its only fair. Plus it stops the killing of our noobs!

Oh here's my office Christmas tree. I didn't decorate except for putting on the lights and making most of the fake presents(except for 2).
Some part of the photo was delibrately blanked out for privacy reasons. So it's not that easy to find out what company I'm working at. In case you want to tell my boss I'm PBPing at work.

my hatred for pvp is considerable. People are awful to each other in general, and anonymity can make even the most innocuous people into monsters should they be in the wrong headspace at the time.

Also, a good 80 percent of my adult comics/blogs are on hiatus until they find a place to land.

For me its not only that. Its just another censorship to move to this american values system being forced on us that its OK to take a life but not make it mindset. its just infuriating. Its unhealthy for the individual and society.

This always reminds me of the Greater Internet F*@#wad Theory, and the very similar, if lesser known, Alternate Internet F#@*wad Theory.
Forced PvP is always a dealbreaker for me when it comes to MMO's. Unless that's what the game is specifically about and in those rare instances, I know what I'm buying into. :P

I don't follow such things closely, but I did hear rumblings of a return to activity for Newgrounds, and a declaration by them that all content was welcome.
And honestly I've always loved Newgrounds, I'd love to see them come back to some level of internet prominence again.
really? Newgrounds?
Huh.
