I figure the bacon dragon will be followed by an army of hobgoblins, because the bacon dragon's breath weapon turns its victims' skin into bacon. Yum!

Sometimes you need to listen to Vince Clark and the campest man to have ever worked in a meatpacking plant.

Good morning FaWtL,

Today we go to Würzburg, Sabine, me and my Best Man, it is a thank-you-gift for, well beeing my best man.

We will do a bit of sightseeing (The Fortress Castle is legendary and the residence Palace is UNESCO World Heritage, the Cathedral is famous as well)
In the evening we have a Whisky tasing - not Sabine of course, she will go shopping.
A co-worker of Sabine has a Scotch Whisky Store in Würzburg and will do the tasting (he works Monday to Wedensday at the Blood Donation Centre and Thursday till Saturday in his Shop

I need more friends like this.

Actually, I need more friends, period.

Sounds awesome Aeglos, (The one lamentation I have about being born in America, our distinct lack of historical castles!) :(

Have a blast! :)

Welcome to Houston Solnes and LPM! Sorry I couldn't welcome you in person.

My prayers go out to you and your family BT.

Whew - I've been putting some long hours in at work the past few weeks but I have high hopes this place can be become a great place to work.

Sadly, it leaves little time for posting as my fellow PBPers may have noticed. Hopefully, the next week sees some relief on the hours front.

Take care everyone.

We thought Charlie might be sick this morning. First, he slept until after 7 am. Then as his mother was sitting down in the glider chair, he brought her a pillow and recommended she put her feet up.

Naturally, we checked for a fever.....

Today - grocery shopping! Washing clothes! What excitement!

Oops, almost forgot, I also get to transfer my beer from the primary to the secondary fermenter.

Scarab Sages

I'll have to do the transfer later tonight, though, since I have stuff to clean before I can do the transfer.

Howdy monkey. Things are going well. Rental house rocks. Lots of space. Nice neighborhood. New job is cool. A lot more actual engineering work.

I shall also make a journey to the market some time this morning for some much needed supplies. HEB kicks ass.

Time to check on those mysterious noises the boy is making and work on brewing a second cup of coffee.

When it comes to children, I think I prefer mystery noises to silence.

Good to hear! Does HEB stand for 'Harvested Ecofriendly Brains'?

Oh and belated birthday wishes to our resident badger! I have been remiss in keeping up with FAWTL doings lately. Well, off to market ...

Herbert E. Butt. The founder's name.

And yes it is. It's one of the things I miss most about Texas. Not top five, but definitely top ten.

It stopped raining. Hurrah!

I accidentally made the most fabulous breakfast things by corrupting a drop biscuit recipe with chocolate chip granola. It turned out to be a muffin-like substance with the taste of a scone: not too sweet but not dry and crumbly like a scone. OM NOM.

I will share the basics here because I love you guys.

recipe:

I'm not sure what brand of chocolate chip granola it was, but it was rather fine-grained and had chips of dark chocolate.

1. Drop smidges of shortening in the bottom of each cup of a 12-muffin nonstick baking pan. Put it in the oven to melt while preheating the oven to 380.

2. Put 1 c milk in a 2 c glass measure, then add shortening until it's 1-1/2 c total (should be 1/2 c shortening or something is odd). Melt shortening in microwave while gathering dry ingredients.

3. Mix in a bowl:
1-1/2 c flour
1 c choc chip granola
3/4 t baking powder
3/4 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
2 T sugar

4. Pour wet into dry and mix lightly, until dry ingredients are just moist.

5. Remove pan from oven and divide batter among the 12 buttery, buttery cups.

6. Sprinkle top with turbinado (coarse) sugar. I used 1 packet of sugar for 6 muffins.

7. Bake until brown. They will be nearly as dark as bran muffins, but not quite.

8. Enjoy the smell during the baking.

9. Remove from oven and from muffin tin.

10. Burn fingers and mouth devouring. Slather yourself liberally with butter.

Mmm,... Sounds yummy Treppa!

hi everyone,

back home.

Würzburg was great!
They had a Street Music Festival with bands and musicians everywhere in the Old Town and a Wine Fest at the Marketplace, we had some good Federweißer (new wine)
I will post pics

The Whisky Tasting was great as well, 6 Whiskys one from esch Whisky Region of Scotland and a great host with a fun presentation about the art of whisky making

What exactly is federweiber?

Federweißer (ß is sz, a long, hard spoken s) is half fermented white wine, still full of natural yeast and natural carbonate, it is sweet and very tasty.

in autumn many vinyards open small taverns for a few weeks and sell Federweißer and Zwiebelkuchen (onion cake) they are called Besenwirtschaft (broom tavern) or Straußewirtschaft (wreath tavern) because they don't have signs but hang a broom or a wreath of wineleaves in front of the house when open

I'm gonna have to visit Europe sometime and give that a try! :D

Back from session.

No one died. Again. *sigh*

At least the brain ooze that was cruel mutated drow alchemist the party found in the dungeons under their house fleed the fight instead of falling to party's lightnings, arrows and eldritch bolts. This will haunt the party in the future.

Last night I made filet of sole with sauce parisienne, potatoes au gratin, and an assortment of roasted vegetables. It was a big hit.

Today I have been out enjoying the lovely weather.

How far would you go to save a badger?

Scarab Sages

My beer has been transferred from the primary to the secondary. So far it's looking like a respectable 6.5% ABV. Mmmmm.....

The majority of parental stories of toddlers begin "The kid was being quiet..."

I have discovered that if my little one is being quiet, I will most likely find all of my laundry (clean and dirty) strewn throughout the house. >.>
