I finally start student teaching tomorrow. Funnily enough, it will be at my high school alma mater's cross-town rival. Tempted to wear my old class ring.

And we have rain! These Arizonans fear the sky-water. They know not how to drive in it.

And before someone comments on naked student-teaching... Just NO.

(Oooh myyyy... or some such) >.>

Sorry, I'm hyper and bored and anxious about tomorrow. Thus, FAWTL is now spammed.

Mmmm,... Spam,.... :)

Heh, In MY experience, if your kid is being quiet, your lucky if it's ONLY laundry you find throughout the house! :)

The last time my FIRST infant son was uncharacteristically quiet, (25 years ago) I found him still sitting calmly in his crib, reaching between the slats and happily finger-painting the wall,...

Spoiler:

Needless to say, I have been a staunch supporter of 'The kid is quiet. TOO quiet.' ever since! :)

Annnnnd on that note, it is late, and I am going to go to sleep.
Now.

Night FaWtL-ies,

I'll try and get a recap of last week's session when I can for those who wanted it.

Sadly, the combined pain of a canker sore and a tooth infection are wearing me down...

6.5%? Are we making beer or slightly flavored water? 10% or bust.

Busy weekend for me (as fellow pbp'ers may have noted)
Had a great game of Relic on Friday, after meeting a few friends. Relic has smoothed the problems of Talisman, though still not a perfect game, which we somehow got done in under 3 hours.

Saturday was the village beer festival, held at the church. The weather just held so we could sit on the gravestones with our glasses (which depict anatomically correct male deer ploughing a field).

Unfortunately there weren't that many different drinks on offer, with some being mediocre at best (probably go on a Friday next year). But with the teddy bear zip-line and other amusement was fun, just a slight pity I had to leave early.

Leave early, to go to a birthday BBQ - which was the usual fun with minimal rain, lovely food and a few friends.

Sunday was just D&D as usual, although got some XP.

Anyway happy Monday to all you amazing people. May your week be good, any worries or troubles drift away like a wind.

Good luck with your student teaching Ebon. Belated Happy birthday Taig.

+1 to DSX's wish for a good week for everyone.

Tomorrows 3.5 game has been cancelled, but hopefully Wednesday fondue & French films won't be (unless that's 2 weeks time).

Hope LPM's birthday & move weren't too bad.

I wonder how one would give stats to an avatar of Ayrzul. Thanks to the Dragon God of Demons' Souls as well as the theory that Ayrzul is actually an undead crystal dragon, I imagined it taking the form of a giant undead dragon. Of course, my other option would be coming up with a herald, but that's less fun than each Elemental Lord having an avatar they can send around to scour the planes while they are busy with their own plots. That, and it seems heavily implied that Ayrzul can't voluntarily leave his current location.

Giving the Monday Night Game startup another shot tonight. Hopefully without a holiday today we won't be so much uncertainty about the game.

Scarab Sages

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Not so happy Monday! The boy was up early and already pissing the woman off (not difficult to do) before I even left this morning. Then a bit of traffic from an accident just a bit before my exit.

Ah f&!% it. Happy Monday anyway....

Scarab Sages

Now I'm debating whether or not I want to try and bottle my beer next weekend. If I do, I e got some bottle cleaning to do.

Scarab Sages

But I also still have that potential Wayfinder entry to finish and send off. Just can't seem to get in the mood to finish it....

so long as you were not a part of the accident. I do not wish for you to be harmed. Turned perhaps, but not harmed.

hrm. Good point.

Good news: I might not have a tooth infection after all. Also, I don't have a tooth shard stuck in my gums.

Bad news: Canker sore is still painful. And instead of a tooth shard, I have a piece of my jawbone sticking out of my gums...

Adding every Swedish community down to villages with only around 50 people living in them to my football game may have been slightly too ambitious...

wHoa! Can you go to the doc?

Did that yesterday. The bone doesn't even ache, it's just sticking out due to the tooth removal I had.

The tissue around that part of my mouth has diminished due to there being no tooth there to support and all.

Ahh.... Still sounds agonizing.

It's mildly annoying. The sting in my gums from the canker sore and the ringing tooth ache are the agonizing ones.

Don't ask me why, but I lately I have been craving creamed chipped beef on toast. Haven't had any for probably over 20 years, but the other day it popped in my head and I can't get it out.

Do I need help, or should I just give in and make some?

Most certainly, and yes,...

Go find dried beef and make some. But make it pure - no onion flakes or (gag) peas. It's delicious. I don't know why people mock the food of the gods.

that sounds awful but I also understand that the same things are given different names the world over. Please describe what you would like to eat in layman's terms.

I can find the dried beef easily enough. I know it's at the store. If I did make some it would be simple. A little butter and flour for a roux, add milk, toss in the beef, and spoon it over toast. I think I'm mostly worried that it won't taste like I remember and a memory will be ruined.

Toast covered with a cream sauce containing thinly sliced dried beef. Sorta like biscuits and gravy, but different.

As an aside, if you think that name sounds bad, you could try the military name: S$++ on a Shingle (SOS for short).

Only one thing to do. Add bacon.

Is it the same as corned beef? And peas are delightful either garden or mushy.

No. Chipped beef is simply salted dried beef sliced thin.

Now I must sleep. Good day/night.

I made it after a drought of nearly 20 years, and it tasted every bit as good as I remembered - maybe better.

Sleep. Sleep, and dream of chipped beef on toast.

Stupid currency exchange rates. Seems I charged the e-card with too little money when I ordered my minis. *sighs* Here's hoping the fix will go through quickly.

Speaking of nostalgic foods, I picked up a book on "heirloom cooking" yesterday. It is a collection of old recipes the authors picked up at garage sales, etc. lots if casseroles and the like from the 1890s through the 1950s. It is full of awesome.

My grandmother gave all us grandkids a recipe book published by her church in the 1970's - "Kooking with Kids". It had a half-dozen different recipes for lemon Jello with cinnamon Red Hots. 'Heirloom' <> 'good'.

My grandmother made Apple Cinnamon Jelly using Red Hots for the cinnamon. It is glorious.

you know that kind of cold where the running of your nose leaves you dizzy and cross eyed, with tears in your eye? And all you can do anymore is grab a Kleenex, rip it in half, and just shove each half into a different nostril, abandoning all pretense of dignity?
