Faction T-Shirts

Would custom faction shirts still comply with the re-roll rule at official events or must they be the ones sold by Paizo? Using the official logo downloads, you could make printed decals or a local uniform shop could create silk screens. Would it be a problem if I showed in a blue taldor shirt, or maybe a white Osirion shirt? What about adding other items like the society logo on the back. We've also discussed getting polo's with a small society logo on the chest and a full-sized faction symbol on the back.

Grand Lodge

I doubt it.

The point is to sell the shirts and make profit more than get Paizo-love exposure at Cons. (Look at the fact that you don't get a free roll for wearing a Paizo shirt)

I want to get a Cheliax shirt with the whole Cheliax flag, not just the crossed circle. But I doubt Paizo can sell enough of the shirts to justify making them.

Only our shirts count for the re-roll. I'm sure you can appreciate why.

As for new shirts in the future--while the current shirts are selling okay, we'd need to see a large increase in sales (or sell out of the shirts we have) before we even considered making new shirts.

Are there any PFS shirts available? Not the faction shirts but ones with the PFS logo on them?

Not right now. Shirts are not exactly a cash cow and it's difficult for us to make generic logo shirts like that and then actually sell them.

For now, it's the current faction shirts that we currently have in stock.

If one were so inclined, one could read this to mean that at some point one or more current factions will no longer be current, indicating a forthcoming change in factions.

If one were so inclined...

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Given that you're now allowed to wear any faction t-shirt to gain the re-roll, not necessarily the t-shirt of the faction of your current character being played at the table, might it be a good idea to expand the t-shirt re-roll to include any official Paizo/Pathfinder t-shirt, including purple golem logo (clearly promoting the company), grey maidens (a little obscure, but a fun fashion t-shirt in golarion spirit), and the goblin t's (which now sold out, must have been a hit!) Re-rolls might help to sell any Paizo t-shirt.

I've occasionally wanted to wear my goblin t-shirt to a game instead of a faction t-shirt, but haven't, solely on the basis of the re-roll. (I know I can just carry it in my bag, sometimes I do, but that's not really the point).

I'll add my hearty "yea" to this idea. Nothing worse than going to a convention where I've got three days of gaming scheduled and only one "faction" t-shirt, but three Paizo t-shirts. Unlike some, I am a odor-conscious gamer.

I ran into this issue at Paizocon. I had forgotten my faction shirt at home, in the rush to pack. Arrived at Paizocon, went to the store Saturday Afternoon to pick up a shirt, and they were all out of my size shirt, except for the Paizo blue gollum.

So I was DENIED the opportunity of my reroll at Paizocon.

I too add my yea in the hopes that the emblem of a Goblin carrying a free re-roll will grant a free re-roll in Society games.

If not, I'll wait for that big PFS Lodge T-shirt. Hopefully in a attractive tan colour.

The Year of the Ruby Phoenix shirts are pretty spiffy, and grant a re-roll.

Whoa whoa whoa! Are you serious? My girlfriend and I went to the Paizo booth at Gencon to buy reroll shirts. When picking which shirt we wanted we asked the guy Identified as the "customer service manager" which shirts allowed rerolls and he said any of the official Paizo shirts. I asked if he was sure the goblin shirt was included and he said absolutely. I can't remember his name, but he was very memorable. He had a big curly old timey mustache.

Please don't tell me we spent like $50 on 2 goblin shirts and the guy was full of it? I like the shirts, but a shirt wasn't all I was purchasing.

That was more than likely Cosmo and I don't honestly know that there has been to Kuching conversation on which shirts grant bonuses so I will flag this for the FAQ. This might have been a honest mistake or miscommunication. Honesty I'm not sure why any official Paizo shirt wouldn't count. But let's hold on any more speculation until we get a official word

2/5

I was told the same thing at the Paizo booth...

...the first time we went to buy shirts. I bought my goblin shirt and was very happy.

Then a friend went to buy a Paizo shirt and I was told "no, the goblin shirt does NOT count for rerolls."

And I was still very happy with my goblin shirt.

Insert generic snippy response about HQ communications, bah, whatever. But even without the reroll I still would have purchased it. I don't own a faction shirt and the goblin shirt was the first one IMO that had artwork on it that was decent enough to buy. :-P

I guess that doesn't make me much of a powergamer. Waah.

Actually according to the store blog the goblin shirt grants a reroll, but only when playing a goblin.

The only 6 shirts that currently grant re-rolls are the ones listed in the organized play guide. That's the faction shirts for the original 5 factions and the year of the ruby phoenix shirt.

EDIT: but if I was running you in We Be Goblins and you were wearing a goblin shirt...you might be able to convince me to give you a re-roll. it only seems fair...

Not sure what is needing to be clarified, but I'll give it a go. The only t-shirts that give you one free reroll in a Pathfinder Society Organized Play session is one of the five faction t-shirts or the Year of the Ruby Phoenix shirt (available here). The goblin shirt is not one of them (alas).

While anyone can feel free to appeal from my scandalously loose application of the rules, (or to seek injunctive relief), I would gladly grant a re-roll to anybody wearing a Pathfinder Shirt of any make and model, be it a faction shirt, Paizo GM Volunteer shirt, Pathfinder Goblin T-shirt, Ruby Phoenix, or otherwise, as:

  • wearing a Pathfinder/Paizo logo at the table is good for marketing;
  • it encourages players to "wear their colors" at the game, and by colors, I mean Pathfinder RPG, not just their faction;
  • given all the new factions, it seems unlikely that each will have its own faction shirt in the future (this is key); and
  • it seems too arbitrary and capricious that a Ruby Phoenix for $20 is good for a re-roll, but an iconic Reynolds' Goblin shirt for the same money (and a bigger Pathfinder logo) isn't good enough. There's a disconnect for me there.

The only exception to this general approach I'd take is that the new stylish PFS Venture Captain shirts will not earn a re-roll, because (a) I don't have one; and (b) more importantly, I think I can far more easily pick off Shackleton's PFS character that way! :P

SURE...if you're a Small or Medium ;-)

Sovereign Court 3/5

Erik specifically said that Venture-Captain shirts do grant a re-roll. However, since he only told the VC's at the Pope dinner...some might not realize it! But still isn't allowable for GM re-rolls.

Additionally, I do think that the 'wear' rule needs to be re-listed as 'have in possession' and shown before the start of the game (or have your name written on it to further prove it's yours). Because the larger sizes cost more and while many of us age and VC'd (read: driven) to drink we may grow larger and eventually have real world belly buttons showing.

So I have a question. What if you are a part of a faction that doesn't have a T-shirt? I mean yes I have a Ruby Phoenix t-shirt, but I really want a Silver Crusade shirt.. Am I just out of luck or what?

To get a re-roll, the T-shirt you have in your possession does not need to match the faction of your character.

Jep, I am feeling kinda ashamed that I am necromancing this thread but I didn't wanted to create a new one. ^^

My actual question is:
Will there be new T-Shirts?
I like the idea of the shirts, but none of the available factions.
I would love to see one for the Grand Lodge and would totally buy them.
Is there a chance that there will be one available with that logo anytime soon?

More shirts in my size would encourage me to buy them.

I bought the Goblin Shirt because there was one available in my size, and may end up buying another one, given the amount of wear it's getting.

I'm a 3XL, though Longer/Taller is more important to me than width.

Scarab Sages

New PFS rules say any Paizo shirt is good for rerolls. Hopefully this will get them to make more shirts. Maybe next time they will learn to have more Large and bigger than Small and Medium. I'd like a shirt with the PFS logo. Preferably in white or black.

In similar threads, the campaign coordinator has observed that the faction tee shirts are slow sellers, and that sales would need to pick up before more money could be justified going to printing a new batch of shirts.

Shadow Lodge 4/5 *** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Mt. Pleasant

And yet unless they have bigger sizes available, they won't pick up. Its a viscous circle... If they have the numbers, they should look at how quickly each different size sold, and also compare factions. I know there are still some larger sized shirts of some of the factions, so obviously those factions weren't as popular. See who plays what faction and play shirt ratios accordingly.

I picked my Faction shirt by size and color, not be faction. In fact, it's one of the few factions I DON"T have a character for. Perhaps I'll pick up another (I got 4 for my gaming group the first time), and most likely get others on the same criteria...

Now of an off the wall question. If I add anything to the shirt, is it still valid? say add a shoulder patch saying "Trade Prince" or "Eagle Knight".... is it still legal for the re-roll.

It would still be good at my table. If you started putting Living Forgotten Realms and Arcanis logos on it, maybe not so much.

none of the LFR or LA logos - I don't play those games. But I may put F.E.D.Ex. (Fast Elven Delivery Express) on a button pinned to the shirt.

Oh, and I'm going to have to start having it on at the table. It appears having it displayed across the top of my book trolly is not going to work... one judge said I had to have it on for the re-roll to count. So I guess I'm going to have to decide on the T10 shirt or the Faction shirt. (and get me 5 or 6 more - I can go thru 2 or more T-shirts in a day at a CON.). Maybe I'll get one for each of my PCs....

Nope. Paizo has to make and sell the shirt for business reasons. My advice is for you to grab the pretty goblin shirt or wait for the Risen Rune shirt to come out.

One of the benefits of wearing a faction t-shirt, particularly at public gaming locations, is that it's seen by other customers, gamers, members of the public, which helps promote Pathfinder.

However, if you've only got one t-shirt, and you're still wearing it on the last day of a four-day convention, I'd probably prefer you just hung it on the back of your chair during the game.

You don't have to be wearing the t-shirt to benefit from the free re-roll - but if you're not wearing it, it's a good idea to let the GM know you have one before the game begins.

At my table, you need not be wearing the shirt. But you have to have it in your possession and be willing and able to show it to me. Even if I know you own one, if you don't have it with you and I can't see it, I can't give you your re-roll.

1/5

Ok, so why doesn't Pazio allow us to:

1) Select a Faction
2) Select a color of the shirt
3) Buy it

Example

on one of these popular T-shirt sites? Could Pazio partner with them? Pazio can markup the price to cover their licensing fees and don't have to buy 100 t-shirts to sit in a warehouse that may not be sold for several months.

Think of this as "Pathfinder Compatible" t-shirt. As long as you purchase from the 3rd party site that Pazio has blessed then its legal.

Yes it would be more expensive, but it would allow those of us with factions that are less popular to get a shirt that official.
