Oh, and the Minotaur Savage Species set at Borders, but I snagged that for five bucks. Why do I horribly fail will saves when walking into establishments that have books...? Why do these places offer me enticing discounts? WHY! WHO IS THIS DEMON LORD OF BIBLIOWHOREDOMRY THAT COMPELS ME!?!?
...ahem.
I know this would interest you as it is based on the story of the Gifford Lectures. $7.98 before the 15% discount.
EDIT: If anyone can guess what originally compelled me to pick up the book in the first place....?
You are correct. The Gifford lectures are very much of interest to me. I probably can't guess, since for me, it calls in the category of, wouldn't everyone? ;)

Hey M.... could I get Professor help here. I am not politically inclined and have to answer this. But with my anal ass teach it has to be well thought out and all.
"Why do you suppose education is such a political issue?"
All my thoughts are unclear and negatively charged, help please?
Political aspects of education:
1. How it is paid for.2. Do you spend the same amount to educate all students?
3. What if some students cost more to successfully teach than others?
4. Why shouldn't it be private in the first place? Vouchers for private school?
5. The relationship between education and the national economy, including competition with other nations.
6. How is the curriculum chosen? (Very political. See recent controversies with the Texas St Board of Education and textbook revision.)

Good thought starters, but why is it such a hot topic? I know the basics, a certain number of your voters and constituents are parents, this is where our tax money goes, all that.

Sorry, I was concentrating on content. The Blake cover, of course.

Thank you. My 'faith' in you has been restored. Blake made me pick it up, and Gifford made me think of you. Picked it up. =)

Forming children's minds involves certain visions of forming the future, and forming character. But there is also a matter of forming future voters. I'd also say this: political issues always are most virulent when they are connected to our loves and fears. We love our children, we fear they or our hopes for them will come to harm. These have to be among our most primal loves and fears, and so they are particularly virulent political matters when we disagree about them.

I was in an office with colleagues when a textbook rep came by. We went off crazy a%&@### on the TX board of Ed. What will check? It was all skill check, baby. I must have some feat that allows me to channel rage into certain skill checks.

I get annoyed with the 'new' atheists who are just as fundamental as the evangelists they pound upon. But I have to side with Sebastian ... listening to them wanting to revise science text books so that it also demonstrates the teachings of creationism (and/or intelligent design) as an alternate theory is .... like trying to give flat earthers a legitimate forum or holocaust denyers the time of day.
Not saying Darwin is/was perfect, but ... ungh.....
Okay, I'm done. =D

I joined "perverted nerds" on facebook.
Somebody was whining about a kirk/spock fauxmotivational with kirk putting his arm around spock that said "hetero--ur doing it wrong" being homophobic.
"perverted nerds" took it down.
kirk/spock. hugging.
"hetero--ur doing it wrong"
homophobic.
I unjoined "perverted nerds" on facebook.
Looks like "baaawwwwwww!" epic wins there.

A local guy recommended it, and I passed that suggestion along to others. I haven't had the chance to really look into it. So much for sensitivity issues.

I know we haven't said so before now, but we are so very sorry for the loss. It seems like she was a very important part of your life, and I know how much it hurts to loose someone like that. I hope the pain subsides, and you can keep her memory alive in your heart. If there is anything you need to get off your chest, or just want to vent feel free to drop me or Solnes a line on FB.

I'm doing pretty good, got up and made pancakes for the kids, now trying to think of something cheap to do today with the family. We were gonna go to the zoo, but I forgot to transfer the money from the savings to the checking, whoops. Probably go to the park, I mean the price is right for that. ;)

That was quite nice of you to make breakfast. Yeah, the park sounds like a great idea. It's a nice day for it. :)
Have fun!
