Looking at Human Ranger. Bow hunter type with a wolf most likely. Hope to have the character background, stats, etc... up end of day tomorrow.

I was looking at either a half-orc bard or a dwarven inquisitor...however, not sure if actually just a rogue might be a better idea for group makeup. I'll try and do a character and post this evening or tomorrow.

Hey orthos the witch looks great.

@Sniggevert: any of those are fine.

Jim: sounds good, just warning you having a wolf by your side will make life a bit more difficult in darkmoon vale/falcons hollow, (the people kind of have issues with wolves). but if your up to the challenge thats great.

Ok, character's created. I decided on a half-orc rogue. I need to find a name and I'll post stats tomorrow.

Okay, here's my character idea. The last time I submitted an idea like this one, it was rejected. What would YOU say to this, Allan_Treebeard?

Armandia Just grew up in Galt, feeling disgusted at the bloodiness of her own nation. Persuaded by her friends that a certain group of rebels was the answer, Armandia put aside all else to train hard at the arts of war and to study the ways of her goddess, Iomedae. (Domains: Good and War) After hard fighting, Armandia helped her group to take over Galt. Eventually, she was recognized for her services and given a job working for the Cabinet of Skulls (the name of the government at the time.) Then another group of rebels revealed the Cabinet's secret evil activities, and overthrew it.

Armandia felt shattered. Had she devoted her life to replacing one corrupt government with another? Her faith faltered.

But of course, her spiritual crisis was not her most pressing problem. In Galt, the saying "I just work here" doesn't cut it. Armandia had to flee Isarn, and would undoubtedly have been caught and executed, but for a brave rescue managed by a group of Andorans. Led by a mysterious masked figure, this group managed to smuggle Armandia (along with several other Galtan fugitives) to Andoran, which otherwise would have refused these fugitives entry. Realizing that she needed to keep a low profile, Armandia kept clear of the big cities, and went to Darkmoon Vale, looking for a church of Iomedae in an effort to restore her faith.

I dont have a problem with it at all, why was it rejected last time? I dont have the campaign setting so i might be missing something, but at first glance i dont see why you wouldnt be able to play it.

My knee-jerk guess is that the DM couldn't see a level-1 character getting out of a Galt rebellion alive. I don't have the setting books either, though, I'm just going off what I've read from the Wiki.

That is true, i think, but she did have assistance from the other group of rebels. Plus, there are other ways to work it, a powerful friend (who she owes a favor to), divine favor/good luck on her side, etc.

The GM felt that the Galt revolution ended 40 years ago. To me, it seems that the revolution BEGAN 40 years ago, and hasn't ended yet. However, I figure that in a game, the GM is the official source of what the campaign world is like, so rather than argue, I designed a different character instead.

Orthos wrote:

That wasn't the reason, but...

Eric Swanson wrote:

Exactly. I threw in the whole "Scarlet Pimpernel" bit for that very reason.

Anyhoo, here is the first draft of my PC. I may want to change it, particularly the equipment list, when I get the time.

Ok here is my character, ready for DM approval, I hope.

Male Half-Orc Rogue 1

Grn'nak fleshed out a little bit. I need to add up remaining gold and I might clean up the backstory a little.

Let me know if there's any issues or questions.

Grn'nak and Armandia are both great. However Felmor has both a non-standard trait (drug addict) and a magic item (potion of CLW). I'm not too bothered about the trait however the magic item will have to go. Other than that though he's good.

We're just waiting for Jim Cirillo's character now and then thats it.

Ok fixed, I picked that trait just for a reason to be away from his home city, and I hope evrburning torch is not considered a magic item he he.

Coolio thanks.

Will definitely have character up this evening. Family came down with a nasty stomach virus on Christmas. Changed wolf to guard dog for animal companion just to make things easier.

Wow. Putting this together was like giving birth. Britton Alaskan human ranger hailing from Falcon's Hollow is just about done. Almost fully statted out and background is done. You can find it in my profile. I normally DM and do not get to create characters too often so Alan if you want to check and make sure I haven't made any mistakes over the next day or two that would be great. Looking forward to playing with y'all.

Looks good to me so far. The dog is just a regular dog yeah? you can change it into your animal companion at lvl 4 when you get hunter's bond if you want. As its a hunting dog shall we say its trained in hunting, so it has those tricks. Just remember its not an animal companion so it takes a move action to handle it.

And with that we are all good to go! Its new years eve tomorrow and im sure everyones got lots of plans (Partay!!!) so first post will go up new years day (australian time). Speak to you all then and have a good new year.

Oh Eric i've just noticed, shouldnt felmore have a Ref save of +5? (+4 dex and +1 trait bonus)

OK guess who forgot the trait bonus? You get 3 guesses but the first 2 don't count he he.

Fixed now.

Excellent. Thanks. That was my plan for the dog.

Have a great New Year everyone.

Sounds good. Happy New Year's all.

You might want to let people know you posted this in discussion on the play-by-post thread. I'm not sure everyone comes back to this thread.

Things are going fine from where I sit. The pace seems to be just right.

I was wondering where people are from just to see when the best times to post are. I live in the U.S. on the east coast so right now I'm posting a little after 10 AM on Monday Jan. 11. Allan, am I correct to assume you live in Australia? If so, I think you're about 16 hours ahead of me, give or take an hour.

yeah south east australia, so i think its that time difference yeah, its 6:40am here on tuesday 12th.

Everything seems fine with the pacing to me.

I am in sunny SoCal, Pacific standard time.

I'm having a good time with it.

I am in Indiana, but still on Eastern standard time.

She/They Entropic Axiomite Doodler 1/Author 5/Talespinner 7/Ad-Lib Artist 2/Worldbuilder 5

All good here :)

I'm in Arizona, which is currently on Mountain time. However, I'm also currently unemployed, so I'm on and off all day except on the weekends.

Eastern standard time.

Figured this was the best place to post ths. Looking at the map do folks want to travel to Ulzmila's first and then cut back east to the other loacations? We'll have to cross the river at some point. Maybe my character will know the best place to do that. Thoughts?

Well lets go see the witch first, she may provide us assistance in some way, especially with the dwarf ruins?

I agree with Eric. She maybe able to assist, even if she may have a better idea of where to look for the ingredients.

ok posted Brit's knowledge geog result, whenever you guys have made your plans you can enter the forest from the lumber camp.

Can you also post marching order, so who will be taking point and bringing up the rear etc.

And is Aaron Bitman still here? he hasnt posted in a while.

Dark Archive

I'll take point with Lord 20 ft. ahead of the next person. I'll be doing the Ranger thing.

Allan_Treebeard wrote:

Sorry. For a while there, I couldn't think of anything to contribute, and lately I haven't had much time, but I'm back now.

Allan_Treebeard wrote:

Felton will take rear guard.

Grn'nak's in second or third ahead/behind Armandia.
