Play-by-Post Discussion

For any out of game notes, questions or general chat...

Female Kobold

Yay, discussion thread!

Dark Archive

Male Human Cleric 2

Posting to get my dot!

I've had a travel intensive week, but I'm back and able to post again.

It's time to level up.

Take maximum hit points and don't forget to update your character on the boards. Please let me know when you've done so.

As a couple of asides...

1. I don't plan to replace your hafling rogue at the moment. I may do later, but we'll see how the present group fares over the next few weeks.

2. If you want to buy or sell anything, you can role-play it in the game thread or ooc it here. I don't mind either way. Please e aware that I believe in real-world economics. Little villages don't have shops with +3 daggers, nor do they buy them. Their trade is too limited for one thing and they couldn't afford the security for another.

3. XP. I don't dish it out every encounter. Instead, I have split the campaign up into sections and when you hit a milestone, I'll ask you to level up. You should hit level four by the end of Burnt Offerings.

4. Pace. How is it for you? Do you want more time to role-play or should I minimise the NPC encounters and give you a precis of what happened?

5. Any other business? Don't forget to use this board for any questions/ooc stuff etc.

Female Kobold

I love Roleplaying, and I think that it is suited to PbPs. So IMO, the pace is great.
By the way, completely forgot about my Harrowed feat. I get a +2 to all Wisdom-based checks for the rest of the day.

Male Human Cleric 2

Alright, Sapere should be updated!

I don't think we picked up too much in the way of cash, so I don't think that is much of a concern now, but I don't have any problem with keeping realism in how we can purchase things.

No worries about the XP thing, thats how I normally do it in my in person games as well.

The pace is fine for me, things slow down sometimes on play-by-posts, but I definitely enjoy having some time to chat among our characters and NPCs.

Male Dwarf Diviner (banned schools Abjuration and Necromancy), Level 2

I think I'm done! Wizards are fast to upgrade.

Male Human shoanti of the Tamiir-Quah tribe Babarian 2

Yay, this is the first time a pbp makes it to the next lvl for me. I'm done i think. Ashbek can now run as fast as a horse when he is raging.

As for pace i think it's great the way it is.

Male Half-Orc Fighter 2

Done. Did we actually get any gold since the beginning?

Those goblins dropped some stuff, but the halfling got it.

Female Human (Varisian) Wilder 6 {HP 53/53; AC 20, T 15, FF 15; F+6 R+5 W+8; Init+3 Perc+14} {Effects: Psionic Focus}

Aylmora is updated to Bard 2!

Spent remainder of starting gold (4 gp) on 2 jars of harpy musk. (Gotta keep those pesky goblins away!)

I'm happy with the pace; there are times when I will be able to post more often than other times, and I appreciate everyone's patience. This is a very entertaining PbP!

Still abstract xp here - but a new avatar.

I'm not putting pressure on anyone, but that lady has been crying for days now and I don't want to magic you back to the inn until you have finished in that house.

Female Human (Varisian) Wilder 6 {HP 53/53; AC 20, T 15, FF 15; F+6 R+5 W+8; Init+3 Perc+14} {Effects: Psionic Focus}

Sorry! Work's been hellish. I'll have a post up tonight.

Liberty's Edge

I wanted to apologize for my own silence this weekend. I had a kind of unexpected net outage at home and with the holiday yesterday I wasn't in at work. Hopefully things will be working smoothly again within a couple days, but since I can post from work things shouldn't be further affected.

Going to be posting now as I catch up on all my PbPs.

From a pragmatic point of view, I plan not to NPC Sapere. He's found a man named Brodert Quink who's his match at being cantankerous. And he's also something of an expert on ancient Thassilonia - a subject close to Sapere's heart.

Between discussions with Brodert and time in the Curious Goblin bookshop, he's too distracted to go off on any adventures just yet.

You can, of course, treat him as an NPC if you want to pick his brains for any subjects you think he can best help with (subject to Sapaere's usual caustic wit).

Do you want to recruit another person now you are two down (at least temporarily) or press on?

Female Human (Varisian) Wilder 6 {HP 53/53; AC 20, T 15, FF 15; F+6 R+5 W+8; Init+3 Perc+14} {Effects: Psionic Focus}

It might not hurt to recruit another person or two. We all seem to have slowed down some on this PbP, perhaps some new blood would liven things up a bit?

OK. Unless I hear anything to the contrary by the end of today (Monday) my time-zone, I will put up a request for two new players.

Meanwhile, feel free to work through Aylmora's list and the meal until they come on board. I won't start the next step until the new players are added.

I'll encourage any new players to post what character they think would best fit the group and I'll want you guys to help decide who to add.

Seven have applied to join - with more than seven characters offered. I'd appreciate your input as to which PLAYER you'd like to add.

Female Kobold

Well, I definitely think Far Wanderer should get in. He's a great GM, and I like his concepts.
I also think Dathom could make a good addition.

Female Human (Varisian) Wilder 6 {HP 53/53; AC 20, T 15, FF 15; F+6 R+5 W+8; Init+3 Perc+14} {Effects: Psionic Focus}

I agree with Kobold Cleaver. I like far_wanderer's primary and tertiary concepts, and agree that a necromancer could be a very interesting addition - perhaps the party would approach him with questions regarding why someone would want to take Father Tobyn's remains and what those persons could theoretically do with said remains.

I also like dathom's concept for a priest of Cayden Cailean. I can see such a character fitting in well with the group, particularly Cuu and Ashbek.

TDLofCC's rogue would be helpful as well.

Male Human shoanti of the Tamiir-Quah tribe Babarian 2

I really like dathom's cleric and far_wanderers sorcerer or necromancer.
The cleric: I can see some great RP opportunities with him and Ashbek, regarding Ashbeks banishment.

The sorcerer: I think it would be fun with her lack of social skills vs Aylmoras, and their equal good looks.

The necromancer: Well, that's what he wants to play.

In true Picard fashion, I thank you for your input (plus any more that comes over the next twelve hours) and the final decision is mine. I'll announce it tomorrow (Friday) my time. That'll give the players the week-end to prepare before all h**l breaks loose...

Male Human Oracle of Bones 2

Senuset is ready to go.

A few notes:
-I reversed the weight for the sewing kit and the jewelry kit, it seemed to make more sense.
-I couldn't find stats for a journal or cloth, so I used the pricing and weight for a spellbook and canvas.
-I have him making his own backpack, netting an additional 1gp

Question: between Purify Food and Drink and Mending, can he improvise to keep himself and his equipment clean magically?

1. Expect the players to seek you out (your knowledge of necromancy isn't common and word will have spread). I'll start you staying at the Hagfish tavern. You have five more nights accomodation paid for.

2. Happy with the weight stuff. I will always apply common sense to such matters.

3. I'm torn on this. From a game perspective, it isn't a breaker but I struggle with just saying yes. So...he can keep equipment clean but not himself. Significant soiling can be repaired but will show signs of being mended.

Consider yourself in the game, and if you want to post independently, feel free to do so. I have a pdf for Sandpoint that I put together myself (omitting much of the detail). If you want a copy, email me at: runelords AT betternovelwriting DOT com

Prestidigitation covers cleanliness.

I like your character. Reminds me of Adrian Monk.

-I'll go make a post with his day-to-day and recent activities, but other than that he won't be up to anything unless the others find him or you throw something at him.

-Perfectly happy with just being able to clean equipment, that was the important part. Those four pounds of soap should be sufficient for personal cleanliness.
-I'm already fairly well educated out-of-character on Sandpoint, so unless you've added new information the PDF shouldn't be needed. If you should need to reach me by email for anything else, use:

Very true, however as an Oracle Senuset uses the cleric spell list, which doesn't include Prestidigitation.

He's nowhere near as obsessive as Monk, but the basic concept is the same.

Female Kobold

Ah, right. Thought you were a necromancer.

Necromancer in the sense of specializing in necromantic spells, yes. Necromancer in the sense of specialist wizard favoring the necromancy school, no.

The Exchange

I just realized the discussion thread has been updated so much. Sorry for not paying attention. Will keep a closer eye on the thread from now on. Welcome aboard, far_wanderer!

Apologies for being so quiet - the Easter break seemed to consumer my every waking hour (and having to reformat both my laptop and desktop didn't help matters).
