Spoiler:
That was the main reason I suggested the idea, actually. It would give you a chance to 'retrain' Allura more to your tastes and sensibilities (maybe they get shunted into a pocket dimension version of a 'Danger Room'). I know David selected the telepathic abilities so she could better determine the needs of those she...er...performed religious rites on as a devotee of Lastia (amongst other things). But at the level he created her, I think he just wanted a smattering of telepathic talent, so that her favored soul levels wouldn't suffer.

I don't think switching out her levels of psion for wilder and then bumping up that side would wreck that initial concept. And since she was sort of a spy anyway, advancing her telepathic abilities would make sense.

And as far as the proliferation of constructs goes, we're going back to the Bazaar and getting some gear for that (more Demolition Crystals at the very least!) :)

Spoiler:

Okay then, let's run with that idea. I'll get Alura's character updated this afternoon and if I have my timing right they should be getting back to the main part of the Sanctum just before Arielle shows up there looking for more shinies. :)

Spoiler:
Sounds good to me. I was going to suggest shunting them out in the main area anyway, to avoid any issues with the good folks still down there :)

We can say they decided to head back up since things looked well in-hand, but something caught their attention and when they investigated...away they went.

Profile updated with changes applied as discussed. :)

Very cool - those new abilities are perfectly themed for her.

And Deep Impact = much ouchy... :P

Lost track of the time. Must commute home - I'll be back in an hour or so! :)

Back online for about half an hour...

See everyone in the morning :)

AND STAY OFF MY LAWN!

Disgusted with the old man's senility and blatant disregard for thread continuity, Sunny G quickly presses three stones on the stone pillar next to him. A small tight alcove opens next to him and the sun deity takes the old man by the throat and throws him into the darkness. He seals the prison and goes back to work.

"The stone will muffle his cries for help. Now, where was I...."

Morning All... ;P

Alright. Time to get us out of here and get our timeline caught up... :)

With the safe return of the third dromite, Devlyn turns to Alaina and Sunny G and says:

"It looks like things are okay here, so we're going to head over to the Place of Wind and find LJ and the others."

With that, Devlyn and Allura politely excuse themselves and begin to head back to the surface. As they are navigating the corridors, they notice a panel in one wall that has partially slid open.

"Hmm - must be another one of Sunny G's secret compartments," Devlyn says to Allura as he moves to check it out. When they get closer, they can see that behind the panel is a niche that is filled with a tall mirror, bordered in celestial runes. It catches their reflection as they are closing the panel, and the runes glow faintly. There is a brief distortion in the air, and before they can react, Devlyn and Allura disappear.

As the runes around the mirror fade, the panel finishes closing with a barely audible 'click', then the halls are dark and silent once again....

Behind a mirror in a hallway leading to the main lobby can be heard faint voices.
"No, I'm pretty sure it's this way. Yes, I know what happened the last time I guessed wrong, but I really think it's this way."
Suddenly the mirror opens and Devlyn and Allura find themselves back in the sanctum.

From behind the mirror just before they step through:
"I just don't want to run into any more of those bug things with the pincers. I was scared to death that wound wasn't going to heal..."

Devlyn steps into the hallway with his sword drawn, looking around to make sure they really are back in the Sanctum. "Whew - good choice, love! I didn't think we would ever find the right way out of that place."

[EDIT] Forgot to mention that two days have passed since they 'disappeared'. This should catch up the thread with the rest of the ongoing events in the other threads... :)

Looks around. "Oh, thank goodness. I did guess right. I guess we should find someone we know and check in, find out what's been going on while we've been gone."

Allura wrote:

"Considering how long we may have been gone, you're right. I hope everything turned out okay. If we can't find anyone here soon, though, we probably need to just get moving."

Keep quiet you young whippersnappers! And stay the hell off of my lawn!

Having a wee bit of timeline trouble still. I thought I was going to get Arielle finished in the bazaar last night, but it didn't work out. She's got one last encounter there to finish up and the player isn't currently online. And I don't currently have anyone else anywhere near here and these two still don't even know about the existence of the Eyrie. Grrr.

I luv hanging out here. It's soooo peaceful sometimes, like a field of flowers during the summer.

Yeah, I noticed that. We do have the communication crystals around, though that still requires folks to be online...otherwise these two can just head out on their own. But I know you want to have a confluence of characters here at the Sanctum to get things caught up. Hmmm....

It's more that I want to avoid things turning into a comedy of errors as they keep just missing the people they're trying to find :)

I have been feeling 'a day late and a silver short' these last few weeks, 'tis true... ;P

Nothing for it then but to stick here and wait. Hopefully the others will be able to log on soon.

Hello there.
An elderly man, his stick tapping against the floor, comes into view of Allura and Devlyn.
He chuckles a little to himself,

Heh, the fun of paradoxes.
Then he raises his voice again to address them.
I believe you have a question for me.

Edit:
The elderly man is dressed in a few simple clothes which look to have seen much use, and a pair of nearly decrepit sandals. He has a dull brass brooch with what seem to be brown cut-glass costume jewels arranged in a twisting design of some sort pinned to his turquoise shirt, and the cheap brass chain of some sort of pendant or lucky charm (currently hidden from sight beneath his shirt) around his neck.

"Um...well met sir," Devlyn says to the elderly man with a respectful nod, not recognizing him. He takes in the design of the brooch, trying to remember if he recognizes the pattern, and notes the charm concealed by his shirt. Does the turquise shirt look familiar, by any chance...?

"A question for you...I'm afraid you have me at a bit of a loss there."

Heading home. I'll be able to pop back on in about an hour :)

Crazy commute. I drove past a touring bus that had been on fire. No ambulances on scene, so I'm hoping nobody was hurt. Scary stuff...

Anywhoo, I'm back online for the next hour.

Allura takes a step closer to Devlyn and watches the stranger warily. She uses Empathy to try to get some sort of feel for what sort of person he is.

I'm not sure which shirt you're referring to, so no it probably doesn't look familiar.

Looking closely at the design, Devlyn can make out it seems to be one long continuous loop, weaving in and out of itself - a knot or perhaps a worm or snake eating its tail.
The old man chuckles.

You appear to have lost all your seer friends, and perhaps meant to ask me where you were perhaps supposed to be?

Allura wrote:

Trying to get any feeling for the old man is like trying to get a feeling for a piece of cold, smooth, polished marble.

What the hell! Who's this other old geezer! I can't believe you kids would try and replace me! Ain't ya got no respect for your elders?

Allura catches Devlyn's eye and gives a tiny shake of her head.
"Thank you for your offer, sir, but I think I know where we should be now," she says, taking a step away from the old man. "Coming, Devlyn?"

The last time somebody was a blank slate they turned out to be evil bad working for the Jack of Tears, so she's naturally suspicious.

Well, if you don't want to know about what's been going on at the Eyrie in the mountains just past the Place of the Winds...
He chuckles, turns, and the slap of his sandals and tap of his stick can be heard receding as he heads out of the Sanctum.

Devlyn arches an eyebrow as the old man turns and walks away, having committed the brooch design to memory. He looks at Allura and whispers, "Eyrie?"

Devlyn watches the old man until he has left the Sanctum, then looks toward the omniportal.

"Alright, do we try to go to the Place of Wind, or try and dial the omniportal into this 'Eyrie' he mentioned?"

Well there's a chance for them to head in the right direction, even if they assume it to be a trap, and I got to introduce a new villain at the same time....
Hope that helped with the running round in circles. :)

I think that will help, yeah. Thank you sir! :)

And my time is up for the week. My sweety and I are going out for dinner and the first of many movie forays tonight (everything is coming out in May - argh!!) Have a good weekend everybody! :)

Sorry for the slow replies, but work has thrown a wrench into real life. I'm be stuck doing two 10 hours shifts today and tomorrow. I need the overtime to cover medicines and other bills. So I won't be able to post until Sunday morning at the earliest. Have a great weekend everybody.

It's cool, this weekemd is going to be kinda rough for me as well. I can't guarantee I'll be on (but I'm sure I'll find some time here and there)

Alaina brings her Gem of True Seeing to her eye and checks out the new arrival

Mornin' folks. I'm meeting with a client within the hour, so I'm not sure know when I'll be able to start in-game posting today. My guess would be around noon EST. Fingers crossed... ;)

Arielle demands to be let down as they reach the grounds surrounding the Sanctum. Stars can be seen scattered across the ground. Arielle and Little Kiba race around gathering them up while Azuri'ith stands guard.

While collecting shinies, Lk looks at the Sanctum with awe showing on his face.

Ugh....alrighty, I'm back online.

I believe Devlyn was waiting for Allura's answer to his last question on Friday...

"I must admit to some curiosity about this Eyrie. Perhaps somewhere that our side retreated to when the Place of the Wind was invaded?" She shrugs. "It's up to you."

Arielle smiles when she sees Lk watching the Sanctum. "It's a good place. It's a temple to a sun god. I think he might be friends with my mommy. When we finish collecting shinies for the day, you can come back to my mommy's temple with us if you want. It's a good place too."

She holds each star close to her for a moment before putting it in her pouch, humming a strange song.

Wondering just how many good places there can be, Lk hands Arielle the shinies he has collected and starts searching for more.

Gotta go.

"Alright, I guess we'll go to the Place of Wind first. If we can spot this Eyrie from there and everything looks on the up-and-up, we can try to dial the omniportal from there."

They head out of the main halls of the Sanctum and out onto the grounds. He looks around as a faint but familiar scent catches his attention.

"We may not have to go anywhere - I think LJ's here," as he scans the grounds. Something then flashes out of the corner of his eye on the ground. As he crouches down to investigate, there appears to be a jewel of some kind, perhaps a diamond, just lying at the base of a statue. The fact that it is gleaming despite not being in direct light is curious.

As he picks it up, he notes that it has the faintest hint of LJ's scent on it, as if she had held it not too long ago...

Yet another question for you lynora (and since I don't know if this is relevant or not...)

Spoiler:
There has been no side effect from anyone touching any of the stars, is that correct? I ask because I don't know if LJ's 'remains' would react strangely to Devlyn's positve energy connection or not. Just curious.... :)

Spoiler:
No, there's been no side effects of picking up the stars so far for anyone other than Arielle who hears them sing. Given his positive energy connections, the star may twinkle a little more, but that's about it. LJ's consciousness is currently within Yggdrasil, so the stars are essentially mindless.

The star twinkles as Devlyn holds it. Looking around he can see Azuri'ith and a pair of children wandering around the Sanctum picking up stars much like the one he is holding.

Azuri'ith wrote:

"I wonder if that's the elemental we saw at the Grove when Alaina had her change of faith?" Devlyn wonders out loud. "Maybe he knows something."

They walk over to where Azuri'ith is currently.
"Hello again. You folks seem to be looking for these," as he holds out the gem. "Do these belong to Lynora-Jill, by any chance?"

A young air genasi who bears a distinct resemblance to LJ comes up and takes the star.
"Shiny!" she exclaims happily, holding the star close and humming along with it for a moment before she puts it into her pouch. She then goes back to hunting for more stars.

"I apologize for Arielle's manners, or rather lack thereof. It's been a busy three days and I haven't had much time to instruct her.

Yes, you could certainly say that these stars belong to Lynora-Jill as they are in fact pieces of my granddaughter's body. We need to collect all of them in order for her to return to life. I would not advertise that fact if I were you. I am telling you because I know you to be close allies of hers and Arielle would probably tell you anyways. That child has no discretion."
