Elor, any wealth you started the game with went on the sword firstly. If you are short then forget it, if you are over then keep the change.

We now need to do your alias up to date.

The steps are;
1) Copy one of the other's format on their alias.

2) Put in your stats and basic information.

3) Choose three abilities and apply specific stats to the kind of training you are doing.

Let me know if you get stuck or need advice. Otherwise try to knock this off quickly so that your guy can get up to speed with the rest.

Cheers

Good point. I think I might have disabled it ... let me check.
EDIT. Evidently I did disable it. Rather comprehensively as I can't write on it either or persuade it that I exist at all. Hmmm. Too clever for my own good sometimes!

The Exchange

My little chap is sick and teething so while I am posting, I aint posting alot.

He should be well and good in a few days time - I hope!

Cheers

Human

Sympathy to the whole family on this one. Teething is horrible and combined with ill as well that equals a really large amount of no fun for anyone. Hope he gets well soon.

Hope he feels better soon!

I'm definitely not one to come to for baby advice, but a friend of mine used to tell how his parents rubbed whiskey on his gums when he was teething as a baby, and he quieted right up! Ah, the 70s, when healthy and safe childcare was apparently a concept not yet introduced... ;)

I'll second this remedy .. I can attest that it works, and I wouldn't say it is unsafe, any more than the perscriptions they would issue you. It's not like you are switching the poor kid's formula over to Maker's Mark or anything. Just a little on a finger and run it across the tender area. Works like a charm.

Human

Thirded. My mum did this too. Using gin. Which to this day I can't and won't drink. So if you go for it, don't use a single malt.

The Exchange

My parents have just let me know that they used brandy on me. I hate the stuff but they say it worked and I had a very penetrating cry.

I have a little port somewhere. That shall be the last resort.

Shame on all of you! I am a nurse, I am appuald at this suggestion! :)
In all seriousness you can wet a clean face cloth with cold water and let them chew on it. You can even wet it and freeze it and let them chew on it. Same principle as putting ice on another wound, just monitor the baby as you should at any rate. I have also heard of rubbing olive oil on the gums. Now I bet Alcohol is pretty effective as a pain killer in infants, I would tend to not reccomend that route. I suggest going the frozen wash cloth route and monitor your child for its effectiveness, at any rate a quick call to your health centre or even a dentist will elicit some advice. I know in Canada we have access to a free phone service called Health Link. AT any rate good luck and let me know if it works.

I know you can purchase a teething ring that is clear plastic that is filled with water. You put it in the freezer and it is supposed to help.

He has eight teeth already and three are coming through at once. We have the ring, rubber keys etc however they don't seem to hit the spot sometimes.

But don't worry Larcifer, I think most parents joke about using alcohol nowadays but there are plenty of other options.

Its the cold, waking up all hours and general lack of a routine that throws my wife and I. Anyway I am taking a holiday from this Saturday until Monday week. So we should all be back on song by my return.

Cheers

one of the benefits to using the rum/whiskey/gin is that it puts the little guy right out for a nap. Babies can't hold their liquor.

Joking!

Morning all!

I'm finally getting to grips with the character generation page for Stagyar (with an awful lot of plagiarism from Vladimir's page!), and it should be done in the next day or two (rehearsals permitting). However, I'll need someone to look over all the stats to make sure they look OK.

Hope the little one's teeth are better, French.

Good stuff Elor. Yeah, I plagirised from someone elses page too from memory ... let us know when you're done so someone can look it over.

Hello all. Well, I've gone through as much as I can work out - I just need to know how to set my Appraise etc. skill checks. Can someone let me know what I roll!

In the meantime, please feel free to have a look at Stagyar's character, and giggle a lot at my ineptitude!

Cheers

Human

Not seeing much ineptitude there Elor, but I am not quick at looking at character sheets and others will be better and faster at finding anything that needs tweaking.

For things like Appraise, all you do is roll a d20 and apply the modifier. As you'll see, for all of us at the moment that mostly involves removing numbers rather than adding them!

FW is happy for us to home roll dice and post results, but if you ever want something verifiable for any reason, Invisible Castle is useful.

You make your rolls and at the bottom of the results page is a clickable thingy which allows you to copy and paste the roll into your posts here.

Apologies for my lack of posting for the past few days. Site was down when I was free earlier in the week, and the last couple of days have been hectic. Will try to catch up and update soon.

The Exchange

Elor I'll get around to your guy sometime this weekend. Thanks mate.

You seem much busier recently. I do wonder whether you want a break?

The Exchange

I am rewriting this so apologies if it seems a touch terse.

Good work Elor.

Minor stuff
1) Fist and Longsword do +1 damage due to strength.
2) Hit points should be 4, 3 + Con modifier.

Next on page 7 of the discussion thread are two events tables, roll twice on these for the first two year period.

Finally roll D20's against the three abilities Stagyar tried to learn in the first training period. That is 1d20+1 for Simple Weapon prof and handle animal and 1d20 for Diplomacy.

That should all bring you up to date.

Cheers

OK, so my Bad Events are: being blamed for market day theiving (-2 to charisma-based skill checks); and as a multiple-choice, because I don't know if anyone else has had these a small love interest with a farmer's child OR a forest fire burns down the Shrine OR Evan Drett holds a grudge against me.

My Good Events are: in thanks for helping a merchant, receive 60 gold pieces worth of adventuring gear or special substances and items; and in thanks for helping one of the tax collectors he forgets my bill and I receive 10 gold pieces and a favour.

OK, so my rolls are:

STR: 6 Arse!

CON: 13 Not bad - I'll live with it and

CHA: 20 Result! That might help to wipe out the -2 penalty I've got!!!

I hope that's OK - do you need anything else?

Sorry - I forgot to add the 1 (because it makes sooo much diference!)

The above should be:

STR: 7 Still Arse!

CON: 14 Slightly better and

CHA: 20 Still a result!

Cheers

The Exchange

Right then Elor.

Nearly there.

From the top you only get two rolls in total on the events table. Whether they are good or bad is decided usually by a high/low roll on any dice in this case a d20. I have done that for you and you get one good and one bad.

We'll take the first of each so that is the thieving episode (nice rep for a paladin - but luckily you leave town) and the merchant giving you 60 gold.

The three ability rolls afterwards mean that you aren't proficient in simple weapons yet. You need to get this before martial weapons so I would use a dagger or club or whatever before you start swinging the sword. It isn't totally realistic but then none of this is.

Also didn't get Handle Animal but you obviously have a talent for charming people (even if you are picking their pockets at the same time). You get Diplomacy as a skill with one free rank. I would recommend putting that in bold like the others have done so it stands out. One out of four requisites done!

Cheers

Guys, daughter sick again, Please DMPC me as needed. Thanks

The Exchange

I’m sorry for not posting over the last few days (Patrick I hope your daughter gets well soon).

Unfortunately I think this is a taste of things to come. In the last seven days I have taken on three more willing victims for my private teaching and my wife’s promotion has begun to bite.

There aren’t enough hours in the day, so something has to give. The family time is too precious.

When I think about all my games they are entwined with people that I DM and play with. Choosing one over another is almost impossible because I enjoy them all. When I dropped out of four games last month (when my wife was first told about the promotion) and that left my favourites, favourites that I post wholeheartedly into.

So I am going to stop DMing entirely – for now. It’s that or give up entirely. Maybe after Christmas I shall be in a position to post consistently and have the energy to restart a game then.

For those of you that play in the two games, I apologise for letting you guys (and gal) down and I trust you will understand the decision.

Regards
Andy

Sorry to hear that Mr Wolf,
but life does go on, that's the important thing, and I wish you luck on future endeavors. Christmas isn't so far away and we may see you again after, and so this is hardly goodbye, only a 'later', with a hopeful 'see ya soon' tacked onto the end.

Later Andy,
See ya soon,
Joey

I know the feeling, Mr Wolf. A pleasure to have known you so far, and I'll be here if/when you want to resume FWFF. In the meantime, enjoy life - it's not a game :-)

Take it easy

Bryn

Human

You have to do what is best for you and your family always. There really isn't a choice there, and we all know that. I hope things get a little less pressured for you and we can maybe resume this in the future, but put your priorities where they need to be. It has, as always, been a pleasure.

Sovereign Court

Male Mostly Human

Sorry to hear that, Andy. I was enjoying it, but I certainly understand. Hope to still see Bedu in Iskandria.:)

Take care, hope to see this thing back running, but Life is a priority. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this for us all!

The Exchange

Thanks everyone, especially Elor who hardly got started.

I will definitely look again at Christmas.

cheers

French Wolf, it’s a pity about the game, but I perfectly understand. I’ve almost come to that point myself a couple of times, but Ive been fortunate in that something always seems to change just before I get to the point where I think its too much. I’ll miss young Daetha and the gang, but you should and must do what is right for you and your real life commitments. This has been a really unique (for me) and interesting way of beginning a game.

Rob, while I’m still (well, not quite) sharing a game with you, I wanted to ask you a little about Prague. I may find myself there for a few days early next year (probably towards the end of February) and wanted to know what is good to do / see in the city at that time of year (or any)? I am probably pretty limited in what I can do, as I will be looking after my (by that time) almost three year old son mainly on my own … but, since I will likely find myself in that part of the world, and I’ve always heard that Prague is a must see place … thought it would be worth checking out!

Prauge sucks and definatley stay away from Rob while you are there! Just kiddign I went in september and it is amazing, also all the things to see for the most part are located very close to each other. Rob can definatly tell u a lot about it! oh ya Hi Rob!
