Supernatural kicks ass.

Indeed it does.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So totally kicks ass. It's one of my most favoritest shows on TV right now. Soooooooo many good ideas in this series. Find the first season out on DVD, if you can, you will not be disappointed.

That, and the two leads are hot. :D Eye candy is nice.

definitely right about this one! i didn't get to see the show more than once or twice the first season, but i found the dvd before season 2 started. just awesome. not that it is difficult, but i geeked out enough to start taking character ideas (really, who doesn't). if anyone saw the "sworn slayer" prc from a dragon mag a while back, this show made that one of my favorites, though i can't actually see ever taking it.

You know, after watching tonight's episode, it struck me how the show always ties in the music to what's happening in the show. Always appropriate, never overpowers the story or the characters.

does anyone know what that cast on sam's arm if for? he has had it most of this second season that I can remember. is it left over from the car crash at the end of last season/begining of this one or something else? every week i wait for something to be said about it, or for it to be gone. i keep thinking i havent seen it in a while and then the next scene, there it is again. either way, that has got to be the slowest healing injury in the history of the show.

thoughts? am i the only one that has seen it?

I truly, truly love this show. As a fan of the (often intentionally) misunderstood Hunter: The Reckoning, the show is a breath of fresh air.

From what I recall, I think the actor actually broke his arm (you see it in some clips here & there) and it fit pretty well in with the story anyway. :)

Holy crap. Crazy I'm-gonna-blow-up-your-brother guy is God45. I love this show.

I so enjoyed how this season ended - the return of The Gun was cool, its final use was cool...must...get...Season 2...on DVD!!

well, after all these raving reviews; I am gonna check it out; what season are then in now?

About Sam's cast, I watched the episode last night when Sam and Dean went to their mother's grave, and they hunted down the zombie chick. In the last scene Sam complained that she broke his wrist. Good to see that the kept it over the season. I love the series, especially since I am from Kansas. I would love to see then they in some of the Kansas mythology into the series (like Stull, KS). Either that or some Call of Cthulhu based episodes.
On another note, I plan on using Sam and Dean as recurring characters in the upcoming adventure I am going to be running for my wife. (She loves the show and I figured it would help lure her back into gaming.) At the moment I am thinking of running the Noctrum D20 campaign from Fantasy Flight games.
Definately looking forward to buying season 2 on DVD.

They just finished Season 2, Season 1 is available on DVD. :)

I loved the finale! the return if the gun, the gigantic devils trap, and seeing how far reaching John's plans went was ridiculous (the awesome kind of ridiculus). Special attention should be paid to Dean's pain, and trying to get Sam back.

The end of the ep left me alittle dissapointed though. I was thrilled up until the end though. I know there is still more for them to do, but It was nothing like the end of season 1, which was explosive in its finale.

I am psyched for season 3 though.

Has anyone checked out the comic detailing John Winchester's first steps into hunting. I wanted to look into it myself, but my trips to the comic shop are regrettably few and far between. I tend not to remember everything I meant to get. Any thoughts?

I just watched the pilot on DVD last night. Very nice. not my usual fare but very well made. Too scary for my wife though, so I will be watching it alone. I see episode two is called wendigo. Very nice indeed.

be nice if scifi channel picked this up as they show marathons; would like to see it from the beginning.

Silver Crusade

We are watching season 3 from Netflicks. This show is great. Thought it was great that for the RotR players the seasons first episode was about Seven deadly sins.

September 18.

I'm kind of hoping it's dealt with in an epic 'Orpheus goes to Hell' or 'Dante's Inferno' sort of way, and not in the way that Buffy season three 'dealt with' it by having Angel just randomly plotz nekkid out of Hell two or three episodes later with no explanation given.

Then again, Dean plotzing nekkid out of Hell would probably have it's fans as well...

Spoiler:
Well most of the Show was ok... In the beginning I was like..'Well that was easy'. Loved the ending... Was wondering when they would bring Angels in. Loved the Angels Reaction to Dean not believing Him, Like he was not used to that.

Got stuck working a crap shift and missed it. She said they should have played Man in a Box instead shook me all night long.

I am also glad that they are going to introduce the otherside of the army. I am really hoping that they go into more detail about Lilith and which legend they will go with.

Yeah like I said... the Ending was really good.

Spoiler:

So far I am not a Fan of the new Ruby though, the Old ruby did a great job of 'Evil wanting to do good' The new Ruby just seemed to googly eyed with Sam, But she had a very small part so she still has a chance to shine. The New powers Sam has might make things a Bit easier, I hope that does not disappoint.

Still My Favorite Line...

Dean: Why’d you do it?

Castiel: Because God commanded it. Because we have work for you.

I still also Loved Castiel's reaction to Deans Skepticism.

Spoiler:
The Prophecy is one of my Favorite movies!!! Always loved the Hell vs heaven type stuff. *One of the reason I am a big fan of oWoD*. Talking about that, Did you guys know that Viggo Mortensen played Lucifer in The Prophecy?

Yeah, and I couldn't get that out of my head every time that Aragorn opened his mouth, because Viggo did such a creepy fantastic job as Satan!

Heh. I just finished watching the Season 4 Premire for the third time... and it's just as awesome as the first go round!

My prediction for this season, based on the premiere:

Spoiler:
So, they're setting up a Heaven vs Hell fight with Dean as Heaven's champion and Sam as Hell's champion. I'm guessing Heaven will be all for ending the world and Hell will be for preserving it. How it all ends is the part I don't see yet. But I'm liking the direction thus far...

Liberty's Edge

I absolutely love Dean (and think that Sam is kind of a whiner), so

Spoiler:
I love that they're setting up Dean as Heaven's Champion. For one, it's so cool, but more importantly, the internal conflict (and opportunity for glib one-liners) provided by Dean not believing in God is DELICIOUS.

Also, my wife and I agree that the new Ruby didn't really stand up well to the old Ruby. Part of this could be explained by the fact that she had to claw her way out of Hell again, but that's kind of a lame excuse. We'll see if she shapes up in the next couple of episodes.

Dean is back from Hell. Appearently release by an angel to do God's will. Thought at first know believes he's really Dean. Both Bobby and Sam try to kill him.

Sam's been using his his demon powers in Deans absence. That and it sppears him and Ruby are an item.

Ruby's back, but in a new "meat suit".

Hmmm... Wonder if there's any spinoff potential there?

Only got the first two eps. in Australia (next is on Monday) but so far this new Season is frickin' Awesome!!!

Spoiler:

I can't belive that I didn't pick the Angel twist. I heard the name Castiel and it just went in one ear and out the other. Then when he revealed I had to slap myself in the forehead for not seeing it.

I agree that the new Ruby is nowhere near as good as the original.

Spoiler:

I also liked the return of Meg in the Second Episode.
Meg: This is what I looked like before that Demon chopped off all my hair and made me look like a slut.
Priceless!

You Also maybe able to watch them on The CW Web page

If you are not a US Citizen you may not be able to do either.

wow, thank you. I'm am only one week behind.

I have to admit, I've become a fan. I was a little leery when they started having regular appearances by the folks at the bar (mom, daughter, super-mullet) because it looked like the show was taking a Buffy-esue turn and giving the Winchesters their own Scooby-gang, but it's just gotten better as time goes on...fortunate for me, not so fortunate for my overworked DVR.

But it allows for the viewer to care about people who are much more expendable than Sam and Dean. I like the fact they became important and had so much screen time. It's a little less contrived than oh here is the hunter who dies this week... He's even wearing a redshirt!

The black and white episode last night was cool. I loved the opening sequence - it reminded me of years ago when AMC used to show classic horror movies every Friday night.

I haven't read most of the posts on this thread to avoid spoilers, since I've never seen Supernatural. I don't actually have TV (I have *a* TV, but we only use it for video games and movies, not actually for TV). I hadn't even heard of Supernatural until I saw it in a store.

What is it about? I tend to love all TV series dealing with fantasy, paranormal and other supernatural stuff, but I don't really have a way to just watch an episode of it. The only way I'd get to watch it is if I bought it, and I'm not going to buy it knowing nothing about it.

Scarab Sages

Alison McKenzie wrote:
What is it about?

Let me explain. No, let me sum up...

Spoiler:
Sam and Dean Winchester are two brothers who are Hunters - men and women who travel around hunting things that go bump in the night (vampires, ghosts, demons, werewolves, shapshifters, etc).

Their mother (a Hunter when she was younger) was killed by a yellow-eyed demon when Sam was a baby. At the same time, the demon corrupted Sam with some of his blood giving him various paranormal abilities. There father also hunted, but recently died in a story involving the same yellow-eyed demon (who was later destroyed).

Most recently, Dean made a demon pact to bring a murdered Sam back to life, and was given one year to live. That was last season, during which they tried to track down the demon Lilith. They found her, but Dean was killed and sent to Hell. The beginning of this season has Dean rescued from hell by a possible Angel, and the brothers trying to prevent Lilith from freeing Lucifer.
