47 pages? That is going to kill my printer cartridges...maybe I'll go to the Library and print it for 10 cents a page. Will we be able to print it directly from the site, or will it have to be downloaded first? I can't f'n wait!!!! I have to start 3 faces on the August 7...so my free time, and luches will be spent with Overloaded Overload....Thanks Erik...

Holy *bleep* that's *bleepin* huge! *Bleep*! I'll be *bleepin* downloading that *bleepin bleep* the second it's *bleepin* posted. Hope you've arranged for the *bleepin* bandwidth for all the *bleepers* lining up for this *bleep*.
Thanks for the *bleepin* update, this son of a *bleep* is smiling just knowing that *bleepin* overload is complete.
Thanks for all your *bleepin* hard work too.

Thank You Erik and all you fellow editors for the hard work you have been doing on this. For the first time in my twenty years of gaming I've decided to use a published series of adventures as the spine of my campaign. I think the work you have done so far on AoW has been wonderful and my players agreed. I look forward to the download and thank you for your masterful work.

Yes! 124 arrived at my local store today! Now I can finally find out what all the exitement is about!
Ok, I know this doesn't actually fit in with the whole 'Overload' topic here, but quite frankly, it's just as exciting as far as I'm concerned. And by the time I'm actually looking for the download, it'll have been available for ages!
Just remember this while you're all complaining about the delay - at least you don't have to wait nearly two months for your actual Dungeon mags to arrive...

OK, the PDF was always free = $0
Now that it has grown beyond what was originally promised I admit it is also free = "bonus."
Thanks for all the extra hard work put into this, Erik. You guys never fail to come through for us, eventually. ;)
Vyv, still waiting eagerly, but patiently...

10. I hear that one of the freaks escaped his cage at the Emporium. Crazy little b@~!#% called “Demon Boy.” Bright red skin, obsessed with fire, you can’t miss ‘im. Word is Shag Solomon will pay 100 pieces of gold to the first one what can turn ‘im in.
Erik,
Does this mean we will get some stats on the little crimson freak and some details of what he is doing in a game where he is not a hero?Do you plan on having NPCs come after Demon Boy in your game as a random encounter or added plot twist?

Wow! And cool! Sounds like quite the piece of work. Thanks for the effort, Erik and everyone else. I'm sure this will be a really great addition.
Can I ask one, more specific, yes/no question that will specifically help me make some decisions that need to be made before this time next week (say, by next game/Tuesday)? That is:
With the conversion notes for Eberron, are there (in Overload, or planned for future adventures) any changes more invasive/custom than just filing off some names and replacing them?
Examples would be an alternate statblock for an NPC to make it Dragonmarked, warforged, etc.; a note to substitute the +3 bastard sword for a warforged component; or something of that nature. After seeing the enhancement for #124, I'm sure the 'fluff' will be fine, but what about the 'crunch' of the campaign? Not every installment, either, but a couple, at least. I'm not looking for details, just a "yes" or a "no".
Loops! |
In reference to the above questions I repeat my question from yesterday 12:16 pm here on this thread:
Will there be artwork of Diamond Lake NPC´s or locations in the Overload?
Some art (or maps) of the Bronzewood Lodge, the Twilight Monastery or the Wee Jaas Temple for example? Unfortunately three of my players come from these sites... Or perhaps some portraits of illustrious persons like Sheriff Cubbin, Governor Neff, Lazare, etc.?
My players love Your web-supplements and I don´t mind waiting. If there is no such artwork (or maps) I will provide them with my own selection from the web.
Another simple "yes/no-answer" perhaps? I also have to work on (and make some decisions concerning) the AoW-path this weekend, that can´t wait until the middle of next week.
Thanks in advance

lol eric
im just glad to see someone deleted what my father posted here yesterday. he goes by the name stress for a reason i guess. since he'll never do it casue he's obviously mad at waiting, i just wanted to apologize to Erik and everyone for him. he's running age of worms for me and some of my friends, and i think he's grumpy at not nhaving the time to plan like he used to when he was my age.
whether he thinks im silly for it or not i'm going to keep buying your magazines i think they're very good.
he might be an angry message board poster, but he's a really good game master, and a pretty good dad.
thanks for deleteing his post thoguh. i didn't read it, but it was probably mean. he's one of those guys that yells at the news.
bye for now!

Sounds like he's got a great kid, too! And welcome to the community of players and DMs - where we can get a little irritated at times, but where we all share a love of the game!

Thanks again for all your hard work, Erik! You and your team should get a raise!

Not really, no. He has, after all, "fled the scene" according to the rumor chart. Three of the adventurers in my campaign are detailed in the "Wormfood" in Dragon #335. Demon Boy isn't one of them, however.
If you ask very nicely, I bet Jeremy will post Demon Boy's stats for anyone interested in further developing this rumor.

It's mostly filing off the names and explaining the overall plot within the context of Eberron. There are no new stat blocks (to date).

There are several images of the denizens of Diamond Lake, but they are "general" images--here's what the garrison soldiers look like. Here's what the miners look like. There won't be a lot in the way of individual character sketches, at least not for the Diamond Lake installments. You're better off finding images of your own.

Although my current level 7 campaign means that I'm not running Age of Worms for at least a month yet, I'm making plans to run it in Eberron. In "The Three Faces of Evil", and in the rest of the adventure path, how do I adapt the Greyhawk deities that compose the Ebon Triad to Eberron? Do I just pick three out of the Dark Six or what?

The appendice of Dungeon#124 online supplement re:eberron (pages 8 to 9) had some few notes that may help you although it's very bare as of now. Keith mentioned there that "The Ebon Triad reveres the Shadow, the Mockery, and the Keeper". Good Luck!

Dragon & DungeonJust my own preference, but I'd rather it were easily printable than "pretty." All the neat colors and fonts look great in the magazine, but anything other than a plain white background makes it ludicrously tricky to print at home. Perhaps it would possible at sometime in the future to have a simple .doc file link on lengthy PDFs so we could print them more easily???
Of course, such a request would lengthen the already-long-awaited release date of the Overload even further, but consider such an advantage as just food for thought for future projects, n'est pas? BTW, though my Players are still blundering through the first adventure path, I've read everything coming out for Age of Worms, and it looks fantastique!!

Great Odin's Raven! Could this thing please come out already. I want to begin the campaign but I am worried if I start it before this PDF is out I am going to miss out on some really cool stuff I could fluff the story up with. Basically background on why the PCs would visit the Cairn in the first place.

FFS he's just said it'll be next week before it's available, we've been updated on where abouts it is in getting released and why it's taking time.
What does this thread gain from yet another complaint that the overload hasn't been released yet? I'm sure that everyone here -- including Erik Mona & the rest of the magazine staff -- would rather it had come out a couple of weeks ago, but the simple fact is it didn't.
Yes, it's unfortunate that the overload didn't come out on time, and I've no doubt that if Erik & co had known 2 months ago how much work it would take then they would have structured things differently -- eg released several smaller overloads perhaps, rather than one (very) big one. But it's a simple project management problem of the variety that I'm sure we all see all the time at work, and as far as resource allocation goes they have to prioritise the magazines.

Other than possibly prompting Paizo to bug the powers that be at WotC to speed things up, according to Erik I don't think there's anything this thread can do to help the current situation.
However, thread does get bumped and shows up on the front page. There may be a few new people every day looking for this web article. It prevents others from posting "Hey where's the AoW overload?" threads. The size of the thread is also a testament to the passion for the path in general, and serves well as a complement and punishment for the quality of the series and tardiness of the supplement.

It's over.
I've finally finished the remaining bits of Age of Worms Overload. It still must be laid out (with John Gallagher's awesome concept art) and the whole shebang still needs to be approved by Wizards of the Coast.
Out of curiousity, what exactly is WotC looking for in its approval process?
Is everything Paizo publishes vetted by WotC, or only stuff that's nominally set in one of the WotC worlds (Greyhawk, Realms, Eberron)?

WotC owns the magazines; Paizo simply has the license to produce them. Therefore, everything that goes into either magazine is read and approved by WotC before it sees print, which is what lets us put "100% Official Content" and the D&D logo on the covers.

Just out of curiousity, is it really meticulously scrutinized by WotC or are you guys given some credence for having such high standards placed on you in the first place (i.e: it's read over for obvious error)?
Erik Mona Chief Creative Officer, Publisher |
Mostly they're making sure we're not showing the product in a negative light (excessively graphic violence, sexual stuff, inappropriate humor, swear words, nudity, etc.). They also review new rules and things in Dragon to validate the 100% Official tag we place on the magazines' covers. Basically, it's their world, we're just living in it.
I don't anticipate any kind of hard-core scrutiny of this document. They've already approved the outline, which is a major component.

So I have a small question for all you people jumping for joy about Erik saying this is coming next week. How exactly will you react, if once again, it fails to come out on time. I suppose the real question is, exactly how many times are each of you willing to be lead on before you start to complain?
This is not a complaint on the lateness of the article, just a question about the mindset of those people who have posted in the last day or so. As I see it, the editors will receive my thanks when the actual product comes out, and no sooner.

Ah, trolling on the internet... ultimately, a depressing hobby. Seems satisfying in the short term, but disappointing to everyone in the long term.
