Better Than I Expected

4/5

I'm not usually a fan of player-oriented card decks (like item cards) because I find them cumbersome to use and usually incomplete. Thus, I only got the Starfinder Spell Cards box because I subscribe to the entire line. However, playing through the Liberation of Locus-1 recently, I pulled out the box as an experiment and was pleasantly surprised. Characters in Starfinder have a lot fewer spells to worry about than their Pathfinder equivalents, and it was easy for me and another player to quickly assemble a full spell deck. From there, flipping through our personal decks was much faster than looking up the spells in the Core Rulebook (something I'm pretty good at!).

Every spell in the Core Rulebook is in the deck, with longer spells getting the double-sided treatment and shorter cards having the same graphic on the back. The cards are numbered alphabetically and contain all the information that is in the book, so they can be a complete substitute. The only complaints I can make sort of come with the territory: if multiple players have the same spell, you'd need multiple box sets; for spells outside the Core Rulebook, you'd need to have the supplementary deck; and if the box gets tipped over, it can be a pain to get a bazillion cards back in order (something that happened to us just the other night). Overall though, I'm happy with the product and will likely keep using it.

Welcome Addition to Accessories with minor concerns

4/5

Apologies as this duplicates much of post in another tab - I'm not often a forum contributor, but really hadn't noticed reviews tab was available.

I received my Starfinder Spell cards as part of my subscription earlier this month. Very nice product and welcome addition to my collection, but I have 2 concerns

First, while it is nice to have most, if not all of the spell description on a card, the text size makes it difficult to read for some of us older games (mid-fifties).

Second, in a similar vein, it would be nice to have larger class symbols rather than full class names in addition to spell level at the top of the card similar to what is found in the rulebooks. Again, as an older gamer it can be hard to identify principal users of a spell if you are not familiar with a classes spell library.

Very nice! I'm hoping we might gain some additional products in this line once the Galactic Magic is released.

This says every spell from the core rule book and COM. Does that mean it won’t feature spells like Baleful Polymorph that were introduced in the Alien Archives?

That would be relatively disappointing if so. You'd hope they'd at least get caught up on all of Y1/Y2 content if possible.

Amazing! We really needed this!

Looks like printing cards fell victim to the shortage crisis.

Are these (Starfinder Spell cards and Alien Archive Battle Cards) physical products only or are we getting a corresponding pdf/image file downloadable version too? I'll probably opt out of these if they are physical only.

All our cards have pdf/image file downloadable versions as of June 2019.

That's great, thanks Aaron.

The box is 5 x 3.75 x 3.25 inches. The cards are standard playing deck size, which I understand to be 3.5" x 2.5".

Isn’t that the description for a different (related) product?

A good comment for the Review tab. Thanks.

I just opened mine (I haven't looked at the PDF previously) and even printed one.

There is one side of a card per page, so printing double-sided will give you the front and back of a card. It is right in the middle of the page, so if you plan to print the deck you will go through a lot of paper unless you do some work to place multiple images per page.

I'm not sure when buying the PDF as a product, as opposed to receiving them with the subscription, but I also receive the jpg files. If you are looking to use these digitally, or if you want to use an image program to set up printing full pages, that may be a better way to go.

change your printing preferences to mutiple per page

depends on how teh cards are formatted you might even get 9 per a4 [or letter if USA]

However I came here to ask about why the JPG's were labelled by spell name rather than the following:

PZO7427 Spell Cards1 right up to PZO7427 Spell Cards522

another critique is that half of that 522 cards were backs of the spell cards which in theory you only need 1 back as a jpg. I understand in the pdf because of the printing preferences but not for the JPG's.

Final immediate concern was the 10 or so spell cards that refer directly to another spell card despite the fact that there was definitely enough space for the text to have fitted on to the truncated card.

I am in the process of searching for the fonts so I can edit the said cards to have the full text.

currently cant find axlonssf font.

Any tips greatly appreciated

Fantastic but its only my third time here [commenting that is] and my first comment was this one.

Would you please point out how I provide that feedback please?

I am Autistic and the volume on the website is pretty overwhelming for me.
