Blast off into a galaxy of adventure with the Starfinder Roleplaying Game! Step into your powered armor and grab your magic-infused laser rifle as you investigate the mysteries of a weird universe with your bold starship crew. Will you delve for lost artifacts in the ruins of alien temples? Strap on rune-enhanced armor and a laser rifle to battle undead empires in fleets of bone ships, or defend colonists from a swarm of ravenous monsters? Maybe you'll hack into the mainframe of a god-run corporation, or search the stars for clues to the secret history of the universe or brand new planets to explore. Whether you're making first contact with new cultures on uncharted worlds or fighting to survive in the neon-lit back alleys of Absalom Station, you and your team will need all your wits, combat skill, and magic to make it through. But most of all, you'll need each other.

This massive 528-page softcover rulebook is the essential centerpiece of the Starfinder Roleplaying Game, with rules for character creation, magic, gear, and more—everything you need to play Starfinder as either a player or Game Master! The next great adventure in science-fantasy roleplaying takes off here, and the Starfinder Core Rulebook is your ticket to a lifetime of adventure amid the stars!

Inside this book, you'll find:

  • Seven character classes, from the elite soldier and stealthy operative to the physics-hacking technomancer and mind-bending mystic.
  • Character species both new and classic, from androids, insectile shirrens, ratlike ysoki, and reptilian vesk to the dwarves and elves of the distant future.
  • An in-depth exploration of the Starfinder setting, including its planets, gods, factions, and threats.
  • Hundreds of weapons, spells, technological gadgets, magic items, and other options to outfit any character.

Great addition

5/5

This is my first pocket edition, and I must say I love it. I was worried about the font being too small, but has excellent print quality and is not an issue at all. I really hope they continue this with the other books.

Amazing Little Book with Infinite Possibilities!

5/5

In case you can't tell, I'm a pretty big fan of Starfinder so I was pretty excited to see this on the release schedule. I love it so much I bought one for myself and then when I saw what a sturdy and easy to read book it was I got one for a friend.

My only complaint is, it didn't come with a towel.

Is this going to include errata?

That probably depends on whether they put out a new printing with errata for the hardback version well before July.

They haven't already done that, correct?

Finally.
I'll buy a few of these.

Yes! Thank you!! I'll take ten!!!

Oooooh yes, was waiting for this to drop.

I'm very much hoping this includes errata.

Do we know the dimensions for said book?

So far, every pocket edition has had the same height and width, with only the thickness varying. From the nearby piles of books, I can tell you that the height of a pocket edition very slightly exceeds the width of a standard hardback.

All our Pocket Editions are approximately 6.5" x 8.5". (This one will be about 7/8" thick.)

I hope so I would - love to by the hardcover with errata.

If they haven't put out a hardback with errata, then we won't get a pocket edition with it. The pocket edition is always an exact match for the most recently printed hardback edition.

Nice!

Yep—we've been hard at work ensuring that this product will include errata!

Does this mean that the pocket edition is actually more up to date than any existing printing of the hardback edition? If so, thanks for a welcome change!

Could we perhaps purchase a PDF of the pocketbook version as well when it is out so that we may have a fully updated digital version of the CRB?

Most likely they're doing another printing of both and the PDF will be updated accordingly.

We plan to update the Starfinder Core Rulebook pdf when the pocket edition releases.

I imagine the Starfinder Core Rulebook 2nd printing has sold lots of vopies and is dwindling down.

But damn, the price for it is $60 and the Pocket Edition is only $20 - $40 less!
Is that right?
The Pathfinder CRB was $50 and the P.E. of it $25.

The first post on this page, by Katina, is a one liner that I can't read, because the top 80% or so of the letters are cut off. More website weirdness. :-(

When that happens to me, I try ctrl and + to increase the resolution then back down again with ctrl and -. For some reason, that seems to work.

Works for me, too. Thanks for the suggestion!

So, is this simply the same content as the hardcover book, only updated and in a softcover and less than half price?

Also, if someone bought the pdf, can they download the updated .pdf version for free later on?

Yes and yes.

I haven't been this excited for a pocket edition since Occult Adventures.

Probably not before the street date of this product (i.e. July 30).

Any chance for an errata list now that both have been released and updated?

It looks like the PDF of the Starfinder Core Rulebook has been updated. Have the changes in this PDF already been posted in the FAQ/Errata, or is there some other place we can find a list of the changes from the original version?
Some of the changes are already listed on our FAQ/Errata page; the rest of the changes will be added to that page as soon as we are able. Thanks for your patience!

Like many here I want to know if the errata has been updated in this book? I mean no big deal with this version I can just write the errata in but having it in there would be nice

Yes.

On the left side of the first page of the Table of Contents, there's a bunch of boilerplate, mostly a "who's who" at Paizo. Down at the bottom of the page is "First softcover printing July 2020. Contents match third hardcover printing."

So, with a smaller book, is the text all super-tiny, or did they leave out some art or is it thicker?

In terms of layout, the books are identical to their larger cousins, just smaller.

Good to know. Mom doesn't read small text as well as she used to, so I may need the full-size one.

Thanks!
