Face off against archdevils and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, planar dragons and the legendary wild hunt, proteans and psychopomps, and hundreds more! And i thought i didn't need this one!

5/5

I had thought when Bestiary 6 came out I wouldn't need it.

How wrong was I!

This book will definitely take it's place as one of the essential Pathfinder books in my collection, if you're waiting to get this, don't! Get it now!

Well done Paizo!

My one complaint is mine had the same s!&$ty yellow binding glue as the first printing of the Starfinder CRB, but I'm not dropping the rating because it is that good (also I still have binding glue leftover from my Starfinder CRB).

A solid addition

4/5

So Bestiary 5 was a bit disappointing to me, but this one is something that did something with Pathfinder I haven't seen in a while: gave me ideas that I wanted to use. A lot of the monsters presented are honestly interesting. As usual, there are some reprints from other products, but I always favor having consolidated lists of things. I won't use everything, but there is enough here that I'll be using a good chunk.

Also, the weremantis reminded me how much I love Portal, so I have to give it to them there.

Upward Trend

5/5

A wide variety of creatures with overall high quality artwork. I like the inclusion of the numerous high CR creatures.

Bestiary 5 and 6 have been my favorite Bestiary books by far.

Unusable

1/5

So me and two other guys from my gaming group ordered this book from amazon. WOW, all of us have missing and or scrambled pages.

I have over 17 missing pages (most of the archdevils content)and more or less 20 pages out of order. I don't know if they are sending all the "special" books down here, but I can assure you I will never buy a physical book from Paizo anymore.

Styx dragon I think is Charon's personal man servant. ;)

Styx dragons, one of the legendary rock and roll dragons;)

I am okay with no more linnorms. I would much rather see the Azi make it to a hardcover, or a new dragon type for the North American Horned Serpents.

This takes me back to a previous edition - are you familiar with the Styx dragon? ^_^

Ooh, one of my favorites!

I guess we know what the dragons in Bestiary 7 are going to be. ^_^

Removed a personally abusive post and the discussion resulting from it. Folks, again, please keep this thread centered around Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary 6.

And, there are threads about the Bestiary 6 Wish List and the Bestiary 7 Wish List if someone wants to talk/write about those specific subjects.

Musical themed Bestiary?

I doubt we will ever see a musical bestiary but we can still get musical monsters;)

I'm all for Heavy Metal inspired Monsters in Bestiary 7. :)

Especially if we can get some Blue Oyster Cultists, Motorhead Golems, and Led Zepplins.

Anyone want to theorize what the new animal companions will be?

hmm maybe also Mantis Shrimp!

Already have a giant mantis shrimp, doubt they'd reprint it just to make an animal companion version.

I agree that giant pangolins would be very cool.

Some giant whip scorpions would be a cool vermin companion...who doesn't like something that flings acid at its prey? Glyptodons would be neat animal companions too too. Arthropleura would be another fun vermin companion.

Dire Honey Badger would be kind of neat.

Btw what other Heavy Metal inspired monsters should we seek?

I'm pretty sure we have a Glyptodon. Well, that or a Doedicurus. One of the two most well-known glyptodont species.

Guys and Girls, before Chris as to say it again, this thread is about the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary 6 (PFRPG) Hardcover, so take the wishlisting to their respective threads.

Technically we are guessing what is the book;)

Hmm, I took a quick scan and didn't spot one, but maybe I'm just not looking under the right entry...

I could be wrong but Glyptodons are in Bestiary 2, under Megafauna, together with Megatherium, Megaloceros and that two-horned rhinoceros.

Ah, you're right, Arsinoitherium, Gylptodon, Megaloceros, and Megatherium. Dunno how I missed it. Ah, well, I withdraw my speculation there.

Edit: Oh. It's 'cause it's spelled 'gylpotdon' instead of 'glyptodon'.

Exactly! We're guessing. We're not suggesting. If we're suggesting, then we'd be in another thread.

Dragon78 wrote:

The book is Bestiary 6.

Now, if you meant guessing what is in the book...

probably a lot of awesomeness.

Guy,

Yes we're guessing what's in the book.

Almost certainly more giant vermin, what with entothropes confirmed.

If there wasn't, it would be the first bestiary that didn't have giant vermin.

Cave Johnsons' were-mantids!? ;)

Giant were-mayflies.

I am hoping for were-mantis, were-spider, were-crab, and were-roach.

I'm hoping for the were-nothing, for the were-than-enough.

Eh, never heard of such 'were' creatures...wouldn't care to see them in PF either. I doubt there nearly as many folktales of people turning into insects than there are of those turning into other mammals or reptiles.

Looking forward to more fey...there are more 'good' outsiders in this, right?

I'd like more were-creatures as long as they are more than just a mechanics template bolted on.

There are 100 monsters less in this bestiary, so i'm hoping they cut the easy-stuff out this and just use creatures that are totally different, and which all add something new and unique to the table. The only name so far i'm really not finding unique is the Naiad.

- No Environmental/elemental drakes, mephits, linnorms and giants, if you add creatures from these groups, add original ones not related to environment and elemental forces.
- No were-creatures (if you want a wereraven so badly, there is a much better creature in Raven Mocker)
- No humanoid undead (or they must come from mythology and be very unique such as Acheri and Ahikyyini)
- No humanoid winged demons
- No giant variants of insects/vermin we already have and which add nothing different (like the new scorpions/spiders we got in bestiary 4 or 5, or the new nothing-adding frogs from bestiary 5 that only add new size levels)
- No new dinosaurs that are pretty much the same than others we already have with little difference (Like tarbosaurus + tyrannosaurus, or diplodocus and apatosaurus) I still hope to see dinosaurs though, but ones we never seen before and which don't looke like cheap copies of others, maybe some gallimimus-type dinosaur and dinosaur-like beasts like the bizarre tanystropheus or gorgonopsid.
- No pretty winged people angels or celestials, we have more than enough of those.
- I really hope the Naiad will be the last of the pretty water females.

All waste of space for a bestiary with 100 monsters less. If you can't make up something better than these things I just named, you should really stop producing bestiaries like so many people say, and that is hard coming from my fingers and i'm bestiary-addict. Of course i'm confident none of these groups get any breath in this new bestiary.

Yeah Fourshadow, we are getting more good outsiders, such as empyreal lords and I believe non-mythic celestials as well.

I wonder if the conqueror worms are parasitic/symbiotic creatures that drive there host to become rulers/dictators.

The "were" creatures I was talking about are the entothropes mentioned in the product description..

Dark Archive

Entothropes are cool, I don't know why people don't want them in the book, its a were-bug! Common! Were-bug!

I'm just happy they are a template, so only 2 pages are wasted on insect-people-werewolf-wannabees. It would be a cheap way to fill pages, ant-men, mantis-men, we have those all already.

Entothropes...yippee.

Gorgonopsid! Would love that. Always want new dinos/prehistorics.

Forgot we were getting Empyreal lords in this one--cool. The Empyreal Angel in B5 is some of my favorite Bestiary art.

based on pop culture, I would guess Moth, Wasp, Roach, Mantis, and Spider would be the most likely Entothrope variations. Although I could see them skipping Spiders since we already have Araneas and Jorogumos, so the "shape-shifting" spider niche is pretty crowded already

We also have the Mothman, Thriae and the creatures from Mimic Movie.

Seriously, stop with the negativity? It's getting tiring.

Agreed. It's perfectly fine for everyone else to have ideas and wants for this bestiary, and other bestiaries, without someone immediately piping in with negative comments on their choices.

They are re-peats, repeats are the reason many (like 80%) people say compagnies should stop producing new bestiaries after bestiary 2. I never see you reply to those people, those are even more negative than I am, they think all monsters after bestiary 2 are wasted. And yes i'm talking for 80% of the D&D-fans and other people.

I can see Entothropes being favored by Deskari worshippers and spider Entothropes specifically being prevalent among Drow and followers of Atlach-Nacha.

Yissssss. Hoping for a Stygian Linnorm.

I've been waiting 3 days to respond to this :3

I can see a stygian dragon but I think it would be something other then a linnorm.

Silver Crusade

But a Linnorm has all the spite, it fit right in!

Pluse theme naming.

So do a lot of other dragons, besides linnorms are not the only serpent-like dragons from myth.

Silver Crusade

Um, but they have those two things together, hate and spite, and a body of water to their name, which is why I think they'd fit really well as a Stygian Linnorm.

Though Azi would be cool too, isn't Ahriman in Abaddon as well?
