They wouldn't necessarily needs wings, and remember that Krynnish Draconians sometimes had wings. Draconians would be doable as a name since it is too broad a concept to copryright and exists in numerous IPs without conflict. Steer clear of too many similiarities with D&D Dragonborn in terms of history and society should and a humanoid Dragon race should run into no problems.

Isn't that kid from Inyuasha the son of a kitsune and a halfling?

Foxes?
And I'm still not real certain how catfolk, ratfolk, and lizardfolk are ok, but a race of dragonfolk is somehow protected. I mean, WotC did a pretty crappy job with the dragonborn in 4.0 anyway. Lots of room for Paizo to rename, rebrand, and reimagine.

Is it June 20th yet? This is an excruciating wait for me. When I'm not working or adding finishing touches to this summers campaign (waiting for the last 2 friends to roll back into town next week), this book is always sitting at the edge of my mind, taunting me with promises or new racial options and archetypes and information which is all EXACTLY what I've been wanting.
God I wish I could just use cryogenics to skip to when the book comes out T_T

This book is simultaneously the one I'm most excited about and the one I'm most worried about.
Hoping:
That the orcs chapter has the flavor and support for non-evil orcs that Orcs of Golarion didn't.
That the Race Builder is been greatly expanded and allowed to be all it can be, free of setting presumptions. I really want to be able to build my homebrew's races with it.
That dwarves and other such races with "race hatred" features have alternate options to switch those out. (Alternate options that aren't just "hate this other race instead".

And I don't think it would be a copyright problem if there was to be a different Dragon descended race of humanoids.
The word, dragonborn, probably cannot be copyrighted.
The concept of humanoid-shaped dragons probably could be, as Bethesda does not infringe on that. (Skyrim's dragonborn are just dragon-blooded; they don't look like dragons at all.)
I'm not sure if I want to see Dragonborn, personally. I liked them in 3.5 but since I personally think that the nagaji race from Dragon Empires is kind of, well, silly, I'm not sure if I can look at humanoid reptiles in the same way again.

Odd...
Advanced Player's Guide
but...
Advanced Race Guide
not...
Advanced Race's Guide ?
The difference is that the Player's Guide is for the player. It guides the player, it's the player's guide.
The Advanced Race Guide is not a guide for the race, but a guide to races, hence Race Guide. It's also for the player (and of course the GM) but guides through races specifically.
Same as for example with a traveller's guide and a hotel guide. Both are guiding a traveller but one does so specifically through hotels.

Unless your character is Argonian :p
I'm pretty sure that whatever the extent of the copyright on the DnD dragonborn race is, it can easily be worked around. If not I need to completely rethink a fantasy universe I came up with for a comic idea.

Really anything can be copyrighted if you happen to get the right person processing your claim. The question is can that copyright be held up in court? For a while George A. Romero had a copyright on the word zombie. I don't think he ever took anyone to court over it, but the fact is he could have. Winning would be the question though. Today it would never hold up in court as with all the zombie stuff nowadays it's pretty clear he's not defended it.
Another example is a certain roleplaying company copyrighted the name of a religion when they created a power within their game based partially upon that religion's beliefs. When some members of the religion wanted to publish a newsletter nationally they were told "Sorry, that word is copyright" and it went to court, the roleplaying company won the lawsuit and the religion lost the rights to their name (at least in print). I will not mention any details, as this isn't the place for it, but my point in mentioning it is that Paizo is probably just being careful when it comes to making a dragonborn like race, and the best way to be careful is to avoid it entirely unless/until they are sure they don't infringe on WotC's IP, especially with how they are so intrinsically tied to WotC with the OGL and yet have now become their primary competitor.

I would like to read an article on what you mention here. Could you PM me some names.

Are there any other abilities people hope will be in the race creation chapter?
I can think of a few more myself.
slimey skin
limited telepathy
blindsense 5-10'radius
quills/spikey skin
shell(like a turtle)
pollen
pheromones
empathy
pouch(kangaroo)
Hopefully the dragon and magical beast types were added.

Also, "Advanced Races Guide" sounds uncomfortably like "Advanced Racist's Guide."

Limited telepathy would be very nice for some race concepts. It makes it an easier fit for one mine than SLA: read thoughts at the very least.
Also, some way to represent four armed races while maintaining balance. There has to be a way to get that aesthetic without tripping into the pitfalls everyone brings up whenever four-armed races are proposed. And without bloating the RP beyond the Standard Race limit.
Also, half-serpentine body-type support. Cecaelia-type body support. Etc.

Any word yet on when subscribers will start to receive their .pdfs? The paper book is just two weeks away, yeah?
On my subscriptions page, it's mentioned that my next subscription package (which includes the Advanced Race Guide) should ship on June 15. Since we get our PDFs when subscriptions packages ship, I think it's relatively safe to say that we can expect it at some point during that week. Of course, Paizo likely won't commit to a solid date for several reasons, one of them being that the book's still on its way to their warehouse and lots of interesting things can happen to a shipment during that journey.

Fabius Maximus |

Product Schedule says mid-June.
Not that it matters much, but Amazon screwed up the release dates, which is why I can't preorder the book via amazon.de. ò_ó
Set release date on Amazon.com, .fr, and .de is 18 April for some reason. Only the UK site as a more or less correct date (1st of June). And yes, I already submitted a correction. Just wanted to vent.

Yeah, but White Wolf sues everybody so that is not really a fair story. ;)

for non subscribers it is June 20th. For subscribers the web page says they will place a hold on the money on the 8th so means they following week subscribers will get access to the PDF's. So likely around the end of the week or beginning of the following week, likely some time between the 11th and 15th.
