This forum is probably the best place for such requests. There have been a variety of such threads over time, sometimes as standalone topics and other times as part of the chatter regarding upcoming sets.

I've been a subscriber to the Pathfinder Battles line since it's creation. I really enjoy looking forward to the next new set, and I enjoy collecting miniatures in general. However, I am extremely frustrated, concerned, and confused by the recent significant acceleration in the release schedule. While I love the product, I'm having a very difficult time justifying ~$450 every other month. Quite frankly, I can't believe that I'm the only subscriber balking at an August, October, December schedule. I understand it's business, but if the release schedule is now going to be every two months, I feel that you may be moving this subscription out of a large portion of your patrons income range.

Believe me your not the only one, most of us complain on the preview threads on paizo's blog because that is usually the latest news on releases. I hate to complain, but I'm like you I can't keep up this pace. I was going to start a subscription until I found out what the schedule was going to be like. The good news is they said that they will have a normal schedule next year. They said these sets were running late and that is why they are so close together. Hopefully they will just do three a year, but the schedule is unknown after December. I hope this helps!

No problem!:)

I looked around and this seemed like the best place to ask this. I am a subscriber to the Pathfinder Battles and the FAQ still says:
How often will new sets be released?
At this time, there's no fixed schedule, but we hope to be able to release at least a couple of sets each year.
I received the Shattered Star set in January and Skull and Shackles set in August.
I just checked my next couple of shipments and noticed Legends of Golarion will be shipping later this month and Wrath of the Righteous is scheduled for December. Fortunately, I can afford those two big money hits, but I am not sure if I can keep paying $400+ for miniatures every 2 months.
Is the production rate going to settle down for a bit once we hit 2014?

Yes. Some delays earlier in the year caused a bunch of stuff to pile up at the end of the year. WizKids expects to release around 3 big sets per year.
Thanks for the update. That's what I expected when I subscribed.

I'm not sure that piling up explains 3 sets in 6 months, but 3 sets a year is going to be much more affordable with me.
If it stays at 1 every 2 months, I'll be dropping out, 3 months is a maybe, 1 per 4 months or even 6 months is better. :)
In other words, for the poster a bit back, it's not just you.

Oh actually it seems to be better now.
That said, is 39 dollar really the best paizo can do on shipping? O.o Jesus. It actually would have been cheaper not to cancel my popular collections order, as they do free shipping over 100 dollar orders.
It's a big box.
We don't make profit on shipping—we estimate the actual cost of postage and packing based on your chosen service and your actual address.
Also, note that Paizo will pay the first $10 in shipping and handling for any shipment of products totalling $100 or more (which your case certainly qualifies for!)

I did not realize that, thank you. That means the order will actually be a little bit less then, that helps a lot, 29 for shipping is a lot better than 39!
I re-read my post and it sounded whinier than I meant, sorry. :P
@Mischief Mondragon that's true but they do early bird specials with free shipping each set.
Ultimately, I think this will cost me very slightly more than popular collections. That said, I'm SO happy to be buying direct again I'm willing to take a small hit to do it. You guys ship faster and I want the company to stick around. <3

Help me out here guys: how much does a case+incentive subscription cost if I'm also an AP subscriber (before S&H)?
-Skeld
The Pathfinder Advantage discount does not stack with the 30% discount for this subscription or with the incentive discount. The system just applies the greater of the two discounts. I hope that clears things up. If you still have any questions, please let us know.
Thanks!

Ok. So, in other words, it's $279.99 for the case and $9.99 for the incentive, which is $289.98. That would be great if it weren't for the shipping.
Thanks!

Hi there,
i am kind of confused right now because of the pricing for the battles miniatures
I subscribed yesterday and it said "30% of our Price".
Does that only apply to the current Shipment of the Subscription e.g. Wrath of the Rightous oder Winter....
What leaves me confused is that everything considering the battles seems reduced i believe that the reduction from 511$ to 399$ is the incentives discount?
Because if i do my maths right 30% off should be at 307 or something.
This given, does the Subscriber Discount first take place when the first shipment leaves the store?
Hobbun |
30% off “our price” means the $399.99 price. So 30% off 399.99 ($400) is $280. And then the incentive would be an additional $10 (Normally $40, but 75% off).
So it would be around $290 + Shipping, which will vary from where you are at and how much is being shipped with the order.
And that is the price for ‘each’ set that comes out as they are all part of your subscription. The reason this is showing Wrath of the Righteous and Reign of Winter is because you have the option to start with either one of these, but any future sets that are released will have these discounts as well, as long as you stay with the subscription.
Edit: To clarify, all the sets will have the 30% off Paizo’s price for the case and 75% off the incentive, the final number may vary in the future (i.e., it may not always be $399 a case).

Thanks you 2,
i was wondering if i could get the "older" Packages like skull & Shackles or Rise of the Runelords for the same price as the new ones.
Is there any news or message saying how long they will keep the Cases for sale at a discount? I don't mean the subscriber discount but the 399?
best Regards
Hobbun |
To be honest, the subscriber discount (besides the incentive discount) has only been in effect until just recently. It was announced by Erik maybe a couple of months ago now.
None of the subscriptions have ever been set up to receive discounts for previous products that were released in the subscription line. It’s only been the recently released product in the line (Wrath of Righteous), or the upcoming release (Reign of Winter).
As for the $399 discount price (from the $511) that is Paizo’s price and their price has never changed. As I don’t work for Paizo, I can’t say it will never change in the future, but it’s not something they’ve set a precedent for.
Joana |
The new discount only applies to subscription offerings from now on; it doesn't apply retroactively. The "old" price is Paizo's standard price, which will probably stay the same as long as they still have cases to sell. (There's no guarantee that it won't change, but I don't believe any of Paizo's regular prices on the older sets have been altered since their release.)
Lo-Fawn |
Ok thanks Hobbun and Joana, you two were a great help, my first shipment is underway and i'm puking Rainbows out of excitement :)
I couldn't know that the discount is so freshly in action.
Too bad that it doesn't apply to the older cases but i hope i can fill up my collective needs in the meantime when there are no new cases for the release.
Thanks again

I'm considering a subscription, but got two questions.*
The FAQ states:
"When do my subscription benefits begin?
When your subscription order ships from our warehouse, we'll send a shipping confirmation email that includes one discount code for 20% off our price on one Pathfinder Battles Encounter Pack for each case shipped as part of your subscription. Your 20% discount on loose, unboxed single Pathfinder Battles miniatures does not require a code; it's automatically applied as long as the most recent Pathfinder Battles case has been shipped to you as part of your subscription (or is in your sidecart waiting to ship with your monthly shipment). Any loose, unboxed single Pathfinder Battles miniatures ordered at the same time as your subscription, and any orders placed before your first subscription case has shipped, do not qualify for the discount."
*1: The product description states a 30% discount, what is it?
*2: I don't get it, if I order a subscription for the lost coast now, will I only get my 20/30% discount on singles from November onwards or immediately?
Steve Geddes |
It will be 30% but only once your first subscription has shipped. Thats to stop people signing up for a sub, buying a bunch of loose figures at a discount, then cancelling before the first sub ships.
It used to be twenty percent but they've altered the benefits of subscribing. I suspect they missed the reference to the discount in the FAQ when updating things, (I don't think you get the discount code anymore either).

Maybe they get a better deal through a FLGS. Maybe they get better shipping and/or pricing from an alternate vendor. Who knows?
I think the implied word in MyTThor's question is 'buy from Paizo'
For the new release, it's certainly unwise. However, it is possible to buy cases from previous sets
Steve Geddes |
So question; if someone was going to buy a case, why would they ever not subscribe? If you can subscribe to get the 30% discount as well as the other perks re: premiums and encounter packs, etc, and you can cancel any time. Am I missing something?
Subscribing is always a good idea. The only limitation that may not be immediately obvious is that you're limited to current releases. (You can't "subscribe" to the earlier sets).

Is the 30% taken off of the $511 price or the $399 price? Everyone talks like it is taken off of the $399 price, but when I put this in my cart it showed that it would cost $369 for the case and the promo (not including shipping) so when I do the math this is 30% off of the $511 price.
I was charged based on 30% off the $399 price. $289.99 is what hit my card and what I paid. That is $279.99 for the case plus $10 for promo.

Thanks a lot. Seems there are some bugs in the ordering process, guess I'll place the order and cross my beard braids that I get charged the correct amount.

Questions: The following text is copied from the subscription description.
In addition to your guaranteed case order, your Pathfinder Battles ongoing subscription entitles you to the following benefits:
> The right to purchase one limited-edition case premium miniature at 75% off its normal retail price per case ordered.
> 30% off our price on paizo.com purchases of Builder Series, Encounter Packs, Iconics Sets, previously released boosters, bricks, and cases, as well as special limited-edition premium miniatures that are not included as part of your Pathfinder Battles subscription
> 30% off our price on paizo.com purchases of loose, unpackaged Pathfinder Battles miniature singles to help you fill in your collection.
Does this mean I can purchase cases of previously released sets at the 30% discount and receive one limited-edition case premium miniature at 75% off its normal retail price per case of previously released sets ordered?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Make a wolly mammoth mini!!! I have a D&D mini of a frost giant riding a mammoth that I had to repaint to make it awesome. I desperately need some wolly mammoth minis to form a herd to go with it. Schleigh and Papo make decent looking mammoths, but they are way too large and I can't find any perfect mammoth minis. I had hoped Reign of Winter would have had one. If I had my druthers you would make a normal mammoth and a war mammoth in armor, but I mostly NEED a normal mammoth. My gaming group slaughtered my frost giant tribe a and its mammoth rider. The Mammoth Lord who guards the graveyard cave of mammoth bones is enraged and seeks terrible revenge on my group, but he cannot due so until I have some mammoth minis to stomp my groups corpses into the tundra. This needs to be priority number 1 of Paizo unless they are heartless mammoth haters.
