San stops and talks to Hannah for a bit, gathering as many details as she knew. "Well that's something interesting... beats another day doing a whole lot of nothing at least. I guess I'll make my way over there."

In an unhurried way, San does, in fact, make his way to the cathedral. The slightly tall, even for an elf, man lets himself in and surveys the gathered townsfolk. Seeing Vildran, he heads over and gives him a friendly tap to get his attention. "Fancy seeing you here! Do you know anything besides 'man washed up on shore'? It seems to be the talk of the town but nobody knows anything substantial." He makes no verbal comment of the caravan dweller that's giving an inordinate amount of attention to the nearly dead man but his expression is one of mild disapproval. We're at the temple, let the priests handle it...

San is wearing comfortable clothes as today wasn't planned to be an exploration day. His shoulder length dirty blond hair is tied behind his head to keep it out of the way. He's as waifish as one might expect for an elf but has surprising muscle tone.

With Kallik assisting, they find Samen's prison next. "I'm kinda surprised you're still down there." Hearing no response, Gabe peers into the darkness below and sees only despair staring back up at him. Am I the only one that was able to overcome the effects of this place on my own?

Gabe repeats a similar process to retrieving Kallik except it's much faster as Kallik can pull the rope this time.

The group finally stumbles upon Abnaki's cell after searching a bit more. They were able to pinpoint the grate as it was the only one with the sounds of moans and screams being heard above it. Gabe once again peers into the cell and sees their companion looking back at them, not with despair or horror. No, Abnaki is simply bored with the situation. "Ummm, Abn... Thrice Slain, can't you just glide through the walls to get up and out?" The boredom turns to annoyance as the just gestures around himself, hands upturned and eyebrows raised. Gabe responds, "Yeah, I guess not... dumb question."

Gabe once again gets the grate out of the way and looks back into the cell only to find it empty. Perplexed he looks to Samen and Kallik and sees Abnaki is already up with them sorting himself out. Rolling his eyes he asks, "Anyone have any lasting effects? No? Well that was unpleasant, what's coming next I wonder..."

Gathering his wits about him, Gabe begins an activity he thought he had left behind. Finding small hand holds and places to support his feet, he makes his way to the grate above him by actually climbing the wall instead of just running up them.

Finding some weak points in the mortar holding the grate it place, he works a wedge from his toolkit into the joints and heaves just enough to be able to slip out. He moves to put the tools away in his backpack but it's not there. Where did I get them from? I don't think I had anything with me... Instead he just tucks them away in a pocket in his robe. Taking stock of his situation outside his cell, he keeps a particular eye out for other grates that might hold his companions. All he sees is the dim lit nothingness in the sky and a sea of grates stretching out before him.

Finding Kallik first he calls down to her. "Kallik! Are you ok down there? You aren't hurt or anything are you? Lets get you out of here, grab this rope!" Gabe reaches into where his pack would be without thinking and pulls out his rope. Remembering that there was no pack, he looks curiously at the rope in his hand. "Do I just think it and it appears?"

He has some trouble with this grate but gets it rigged to stay open. Seeing she isn't already climbing, he peers into the hole. She's just standing there... I'd better go check. Gabe ties the rope off to the grate as an anchor point and descends into his friend's prison.

On his way down, he is careful to check for anything that might put him in the same state as Kallik. Finding nothing, he almost gets to the bottom of the pit but there isn't enough room for both of them at the bottom. Instead he hangs above her and tries shaking her out of her stupor. "Kaaallikkk, you still with us?" Receiving no response he considers his options.... With a long sigh, he resigns himself to tying the rope to her and heaving her out himself. Given that he depends on agility rather than strength, it is not a fast process. But he eventually succeeds at the task. "Never thought I'd be hoisting a phantom with a rope from nowhere. Dreams are a strange place..."

Gabe struggles violently against the bonds that hold him. All knowledge of how to slip them seemingly lost. What Trick is this!? They were done with me!

He continues struggling, lunging ineffectualy at the priests as they get close.

I feel like being hopped up on flu medicine would lend itself to some wild nightmare writing...

Anyway, Gabe's worst fear. He's back in the depths of the temple. The experiments of the crazed inquisitors never stopped, only grown more intense. The dark overwhelms his senses, it's all around him. Calling out to him? Pressing on his mind. His shadow speaks to him, but it's not the shadow he knows. He's being puppeted like a doll on strings made to dance for the otherworldly presence. Then there is laughing from nowhere as his strings are cut by he can't move, lost in the dark.

Tldr: The experiments of the inquisitors still have a hold on him and his actions aren't his own.

I created a custom background for mine in Pathbuilder as I also couldn't find it.

@Bashalde - Appreciate the char sheet template. I've only used pathbuilder for char sheets before so having something to fill out makes that way easier.

Everything should be in order there. There's some gold left to go shopping but the staples are there.

I think Gabe is more the terror that flaps in the night (Darkwing Duck anyone?) than the reassuring presence to calm people down. All I can think of is dancing but that doesn't seem like a long term solution.

Feeling cold is for the weak... Autohypnosis? unless it's "start taking damage" cold.

Gabe looks on, smiling, as the children sing and play even in the face of the challenges their families face. He ignores the nagging warning in the back of his mind that something isn't quite right about the whole situation. Something to deal with later, not worth the trouble right now.

Replying to Hakka, "No, something odd seems to follow us wherever we go. Somehow, some of us seem to be able to speak things into being... on accident even. These little myconians helped us when we were in a bad place. Just by being there we upended their society and brought them to the surface. Now they are worshiping one of us and gaining powers for doing so? We may be tearing down sources of corruption, but it seems we are flirting with raising another. Will you even know your traditions are changed if your memories of them are lost and replaced with something new? The new thing will be all you have even known of your practices..." Gabe pauses as he can tell he is getting worked up. Taking a breath to calm himself, he continues "You can only do your best with what's in front of you. There's no reason to worry yourself over things you can't change. Keep the traditions you know as best you can. Preserve your culture in the face of change, but do not shackle yourself to the past. An unyielding stone will crumble in the face of an avalanche."

A three round full attack is much less impressive after 8(!) AOOs. Don't think I've done that before.

Gabe sees the mountain of snakes surging up the wall and moves to be ready intercept. Dancing around the oreads, he becomes as the wind and sprints to where he thinks the foes will complete their climb.

Two move actions from the spell, one normal, one standard action to move; 200 ft movement.

"I'll leave you two to devise grand strategy, I'll go find something to cripple... Call out targets if you see them before I do!" Gabriel uses the magic given by their fey overlord and is up on the wall before they can blink.

Three move actions is 150 ft in ~3 seconds. A respectable 54 mph.

There is a piercing sound of a single hammer strike on a fresh melt from a forge as Gabe concentrates his will into a shimmering barrier.

Cast force screen. +4 shield ac for 1 min.

As the mycos are completing their... task... Gabriel speaks up. One can tell he is making an effort to not notice what the fungus people are doing.

"Our job here is finished. We shouldn't linger down here any longer than necessary. We can discuss what has happened on the upper floors, yes?"

Gabriel is amazed the librarian is taking being back from the dead in such good spirits. Even casually mentioning the alteration of reality just by 'our minds speaking truth to pages'... what do these els deal with in a regular basis?

Gabe watches the back and forth of his companions, keeping to himself. Moon, through the temple, already took away any chance of reconnecting with his family. Not that they would have accepted him back anyway what with his running away from his responsibilities. That life seems like so long ago anyway... would he even want to go back? No, his path is forward. Looking back is only a distraction. There are mad gods to stop, gods that apparently made deals with each other, elenity be damned.

Light shines from the ifrit as the magic is cast once more. Gabe floats a handspan off the ground as the spell takes hold. Instead of the grotesque transformation of skin sloughing off, the radiance burns through causing the flesh to float away as ash revealing the odd pinkish skin that was seen before. Somehow, the light is tainted for a moment as a spot of darkness winds it way up Gabriel's body, finally disappearing around his head. The bright blue eyes that once peered out become clouded and dark as a grin spreads across the face. You have chosen your hiding place well! You were right that looking through you is like having my old vision back.

Gabe's feet touch the ground as the light seems to be pulled into the teapot. As it recedes, odd shadows are cast though none from Gabe himself. Blinking, he turns to Samen to had the kettle back. "Well... that was intense." Trying not to think to hard about what exactly it is that he is removing, Gabe starts shaking out his clothes to get the ash out that had gotten caught inside. "He could have warned me to be in my skivvies and avoided this problem though."

Gabe watches Abnaki from his perch. What happened to him in the dream world? He's as cryptic as ever but now he's even more distant. He's broken out of his contemplations as the little myco tumbles trying the odd form of movement. Not sure what to make of it, he just watches for a moment before leaping from the tree. "Hang on tight shadow!" Just before he lands, Gabe focuses his energy as a direct opposite of what he did to run up the tree. There is an audible *Ping* as Gabe seems to float for an instant just before his feet touch the ground. We'll figure this new situation out eventually...

He strides over to the rest of the group paying particular attention to this mind mage business as he is somewhat in the same category, though in a much less direct situation.

As he feels the changes begin, Gabe tries focusing on the opportunities of the transformation rather than trying to hold on to his previous form. He quickly finds that mote of power, molding it into something a bit more familiar. Letting this new energy suffuse him, the transformation finishes. He tries blinking away the gloom, forgetting this form doesn't see as well. As Gabriel catches his breath, he mentally searches for that source of power, finding his meddling has eliminated what was once there. Instead there is a more subtle feeling of power. One that he can focus into sharp points or diffuse it through his new body.
"Well this is... different. Let me try something." Focusing his will, Gabe sprints at the closest tree, transitioning from ground to bark as easily as trading another step. Balancing easily on a branch, he looks down at the others with a smug expression. "Huh... this could prove useful."

I wasn't thinking this would be permanent yet. There's a few days travel to" Tinker" with the transformation.

Gabe simply shakes his head at their errant companion's entrance. Always the flamboyant one. Handy distraction though. "I'm sure we'll figure out some way to access the exclusive secure layers of the magical library. No problem..."

"Other than you, I'm still mostly ifrit... at least until I get a better feel for Samen's magic."

Gabriel, uncomfortable at being a subject of all the positive attention, awkwardly bends down to open the chest. Inside he finds a well made, but plain, orian robe. Confused, he looks to Wamblee with a questioning expression. Is my current attire that offensive that they felt the need to dress me?

After receiving an encouraging nod from the chief, Gabe unfolds the robe holding it up in front of him. Taking note that the length is exactly correct for his height and the fabric is remarkably light, he slides his arms into the sleeves.

Immediately he feels the magic woven into the threads. He feels a little bit lighter on his feet while at the same time his muscles feel just that much stronger. He throws a couple practice punches and feels the robe stiffen to provide support where he needs it most. Examining the cloth, there are places that can tie the cloth into bunches so it can be worn tighter if desired. He can't help but grin at the gift he's been given.

Gabriel is among the others at bright. Whether everyone was worn out from the festivities and didn't notice or it was his natural stealthiness, no one noticed his return from his contemplations in the dark. Agreed, my shadow, that could have gone better... and I think it will next time.

Despite his reformed outlook, he winces at the sunlord's outburst. "Totally unnecessary..."

Preparing himself and his belongings, "Let us be off to see what this wizard has to say... if nothing else, they are promising snacks."

Gabe first sees the change in his shadow... such a boring thing now. Though grating at times, he is relieved that it still speaks to him. No harm done there at least.

He tries to look around but his reduced vision means he can't see much past the guests. He tries to blink away the softness of the outskirts of the green in the darkness but they stay just out of reach.

Finally he looks down at himself, staring at the pink flesh, poking at himself to make sure it's real. Feeling the loss of so many things he took for granted, he feels naked though he is clothed. His last transformation from the temple's experiments tore him down and he rebuilt himself as best he could. Slowly he is discovering how much of his reformed identity is tied into his innate abilities. The emptiness he feels now is like the walls of his psyche's stronghold have been torn down. Looking into the dark sky he feels like he might fall off into the nothingness. It's only his steel will keeping him from curling into a ball on the ground. Samen is depending on us to not show weakness in his form. Focus... focus...

He finds himself staring overly long into the sky as he is trying to keep it together. Through his inward focusing he notices that the emptiness isn't exactly a void. His mind reaches for the small mote of light that lingers in the vast mental space. As soon as he touches it, a bowl flies into the dark sky, seemingly of it's own volition. Looking around, trying to spot the new threat, he curses his "pure" eyes making things harder to see. This feels... familiar... unlike my fritan magic but triggered similarly though smaller somehow. Maybe if I... He again touches the light mote with his mind, focusing this time on a nearby cup and one of the drink containers. Again, the thing flies without any apparent outside influence! Gabriel looks to Samen with a curious expression, his mental break has apparently been averted. "Not an illusion... Physically changed... there's a gap...before, I could be taller... other abilities replace the loss."

Maybe it was a fragment of personality from before his traumas, maybe it was some of the fey influence from his recent transformation... As the Sunlord fades, Gabe feels a sense of sick satisfaction in the back of his mind. The shadow, pricking at his psyche again... Shaking off the feeling he returns from his retreat drawing heavy breaths. The excitement of the moment gone, he notices his head feels like the morning after a long night of wine. He stumbles a bit as the full weight of everything that just happened collides with the effects from the teleportation. You can see his exposed skin is starting to blister already. "Just leave that thing in there. We accomplished our goal with the forest already, no need to introduce another problem." He leans heavily against a tree trying to catch his breath but not being successful.

Gabe's experience of the teleportation has definitely soured his opinion of the radiant being

Tikroch watches the exchange with interest. This is much different than his usual interactions with the fey troublemakers. Usually there is more mocking of his wild ways until Luca ends up tearing their throats out. This peaceful conversation is tiring but he assumes Mum knows what she's doing.

Pulling the crumbled crystal out from his arms, Gabe mumbles, "You were special all right. But you shatter just like those bugs." Looking to the others, he sees the giants preparing to jump. Not wanting to be left behind he starts a slow jog building up speed to make his own jump. Finally reaching the edge, he leaps into the air like it's second nature.

Tikroch similarly stands by as the two converse. He considers the story "Mum" is telling in light of his self appointed task and his reason for being here. Dead and raised mentor? Slayed the one that raised him? I think it's a good thing Sophiel introduced us, though maybe not best for the Lady. If her name is what the governor let slip earlier, she may make a better ally than that whole nation of fey sympathizers.
Negotiation was never his strong suit so he lets Mum's question hang in the air, adding nothing himself.

I think Gundran could disable all kinds of traps. It's just a more dangerous prospect for him as he has to use his face.

Sharra 'es collects some stew from the pot and settles in to tell the story of the angry snakes. She tells about the the black fungus and the passages leading further on. "The snakes had made a nest and there was a large one, probably the mother, there waiting for us. It had the ability to slow us down just by staring at us! Luckily we were able to beat the thing into a mess on the ground before that happened too much. Then we came back up here."

I picked a reach weapon with all our melee characters in mind. At lvl 4 I'll enlarge whenever I rage so I won't be taking up front line space if I don't have to.

I have an idea for a swashbuckler/investigator. Very skill based and competent enough in combat. He can detect/disarm traps, has a bunch of knowledges, and can either use diplomacy or intimidate as the situation calls for it.

He was a noble turned researcher at the Sincomakti School of Sciences. In his curiosity he got tangled up with some students doing forbidden research on occult matters. This turned him on to some alternative ways of doing things. He left the school to search out religious and occult artifacts. At one of his stops, he received a letter promising him all the knowledge he would ever want about the great beyond. All he had to do is go to a specific spot along the Glass River (possibly Xer) and wait for a ship captained by a red haired halfling. The letter was signed "S. A." initials which meant nothing to him. The lure of unique knowledge overcame his sense of caution and so he gathered his trusty rapier and various knick-knacks and went to Razmiran and to the Glass river to wait for the mysterious ship and it's captain to arrive.

I can have the crunch up soon enough but I wanted to put forth a concept to see if it would fit.

This adventure is pretty brutal in general. It's hard to get a good lovecraft feel when you are pathfinder characters with all the abilities that entails.

No worries Amestri, I don't 'want'to kill people but the dice are cruel sometimes. Especially at lvl 1.
