Hi all! I've got one confirmed recruitment already -- natloz will be taking over Gabriel for the time being.

If the original Gabe does come back, we'll have the opportunity to explore the shadow/darkness taint again. For now, the change in personality will be explained narratively as we go!

Hey everyone! Gabe hasn't changed all that much as far as role goes. The methods have changed a bit though. I'm looking forward to dealing with these gems and getting back to handling Moon. Once Abnaki bends these fairytale folk to his will that is.

And if Gabe's original player wants to come back, I'm sure this version isn't going to be used as an antagonist or anything...

Abnaki, your little aside about red-green colorblindness got me to thinking about our resident human, Samen.

Being that "humans" in this setting do not see the radiance of Volcano nearly as well (I've always thought of this as elen vision being shifted slightly "downward" toward the red and infrared) , I think it makes sense that human vision would be respectively "upward" of elen vision, with the result:

Humans can see ultraviolet light, in sufficient concentrations. This causes flowers and other plantlife to appear slightly "illuminated", but aside from that I think it's more of a flavor thing rather than an active ability like detect magic, etc.

Two things you should be thinking about:

1) Do you have a way to FLY yourself up to the fortress?

2) Do you have a way to be sneaky?

There are enough Fey creatures around that you can probably coax a spell or a potion out of one of them to make up for shortcomings --- just want you all to be thinking about the first two steps (your characters would definitely be thinking about this right now, too)

Qizz can't fly unless they summon soemthing to carry them. But they are decently sneaky

As a friendly reminder, all the mushroom people the accompanied you away from Heap (Learningto and Hroof Hroofa and his warriors, etc) stayed behind when you leaped through the portal --- Learningto is too frail for so many journeys, and Hroof is ultimately responsible for the elder's welfare.

(probably more for myself than anyone, but I just like to take a quick inventory of all the NPCs now and then)

Buffs before fortress: I only have barkskin that will last for 50 mins. I suppose now is the appropriate time for it. My initial plan is to cast it as we approach the fortress.

Given that Abnaki is bolstering the giants in the main assault/distraction, would it be prudent to get the whole army through whatever outer wall is there as a party? Once past the outer defenses, we split off as a group to infiltrate further while the battle in the courtyard continues? I'm assuming a Gem fortress in the clouds is analogous to a traditional castle so all this could be wrong anyway.

If we do that, I can ride with a giant so they can throw me up and over the fortress wall to attempt to open whatever gate or door or drawbridge or whatever is barring our path. I have a ring of feather fall so falling isn't an issue. I can turn invisible for a handful of rounds at a time to not draw attention. But I also don't want to steal the spotlight by creating a solo section of this raid so feel free to go a different rout.

I can't contribute too much directly to sneaking, but I can cast silence, which would make an invisible Gabe that much harder to locate. It's rd/lvl, though.

Qizz doesn't have buffs. But can pull Kallik out and do some summons when the fighting starts.


I like the idea of Gabriel trying to go an alternate route with the sneakier fey while the others bang the gate directly.

I don't think you'll steal the spotlight at all -- you'll be taking actions along with the party (just sneaky ones instead of attack actions)

Sweet, stealthy infiltration for Gabe to allow the others to bypass the gate... hopefully before there's to many casualties.


Quick check in - is everyone in a good place to be posting semi-regularly during combat? If not, let me know and I'm happy to bot (especially if you give me general instructions for your character). Keeping the pace going in combat is always one of my goals.

I can post fairly regularly, but none of my posts for the next month or so will be able to be terribly in depth. That is to say, I have the bandwidth to pilot a character, but not to do creative writing essays, despite how much fun they can be.

I should be able to pending my pain levels. I did something and there isnt really an easy medical way to fix it. That has been part of my issue lately.

No issue with botting. Kallik is an angry ghost who attacks. Qizz will rely most on summoning but has a fun scythe and some neat touch spells they haven't used yet. And Kallik can cast their touch spells so long as the two are within 20ft of eachother.

Hopefully these beetle swarms aren't completely immune to weapons or I'm going to have a bad time doing 2 fire damage at a time.

Question 1: Pummeling style states "multiple attacks against a single opponent" to total up damage before DR. Would the swarm count as "single opponent"? My interpretation: Swarm is not "single opponent"

Similar to question 1 but slightly different: Jabbing style only lists "target you've previously hit this round" to do an extra 1d6 damage. Does the swarm count as "target"? Question is irrelevant if they are immune to weapon damage anyway. My interpretation: Swarm is "Single Target"


1) I agree that a swarm is NOT a single opponent for pummeling.

2) I think the Jabbing style is fine. You are "targeting" the same general swarm.

Na, I was hoping to head off any ambushes the not stealthy group might walk into. Falling that, I'm in a position to flank the ambush as it happens. I did not anticipate swarms though...
Even with the darker outlook, he wouldn't leave his companions to fend for themselves without at least trying to help.


Understood! I've updated the map -- since the swarms took off before you reached them, you would have needed to use a double-move to reach them. (your jabbing style is activated as well)

The good news is you are still hidden right now, so you won't be the target of any attacks, and you will get your full round attack in Round 4.


Samen, since you cast a spell, you are no longer in gaseous form, correct? Cannot cast a spell with verbal or somatic components while in gaseous form.

Psychic spells don't require verbal or somatic components. Sorry I jumped the gun on my action, I got confused. In any event, that was my plan for round 4.

Quick edit - if discordant note is a burst centered on you, Abnaki, the only people you will hit are friendly giants. If you have a way of centering the burst on some of the dazed yellow / orange bugs, let me know.

Remember you have +6 hit and +6 damage this round everyone from Abnaki!

Gabriel, between your ring of feather falling and your general monk powers, I'm guessing you can make the jump yourself. Please provide an acrobatics check in Gameplay (with advantage)
