Glad to hear!

Here's to open gaming for decades to come!

Shakur, feeling suffocated by the darkness, quickly takes a bright beam of light from his hand and points it at the large spider.

Searing Light: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
Damage, Fire: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 4, 2) = 18 If it happens to be a fiend or undead, that's another 5d6 damage

Shakur then throws up a Shield spell. "STAY BACK!".

Apologies for the inconsistent posting schedule these last few weeks. Had a work project very quickly turn urgent and I literally brushed right up against (technically 5 minutes past) the deadline, but it's now complete. I've been taking the weekend as a break to recover properly. I should be able to start posting regularly again on Monday.

The light at the end of the tunnel!!!!! I should be finishing my project tomorrow at work, so I can stop going breakneck pace at work for awhile again. My job doesn't usually have such tight deadlines, so I'm sorry for disappearing but I was just getting home from work super exhausted every day.

Anyways, today was also breakneck, so no post today, but I should be able to get to it tomorrow assuming QA doesn't find any major problems with my additions. It was only over 1100 lines of new code! ;) [I do have 1900 lines of test coverage, though, so I'm pretty confident in it]

(More clarity: Half of those lines are likely formatting and setup, but that's still a lot.)

Zeke's attack cleaves straight through Rhona's armor before blood spills to the floor. "You...devils..." she ways, struggling for consciousness. Her eyes roll back into her head as she falls unconscious.

Soon after, the deputies surrender, knowing they definitely can't hold their own in this situation. But, the ash house is still a lost cause. All the miscreants and their newly arrested can do is watch the already charred-house burn to the ground and ensure the embers don't cause any more damage.

And the day comes to a close with no more issues.

END PART 2: SWORN TO SERVE

That's the longest I think I've ever seen level 2 go in an adventure path! On that note

Y'all level up!
Please post all changes to your character (including feats, spells, and eidolon evolution(s)) in the discussion. Once I've seen everybody's post, we'll start part 3.

Also: Thank you for sticking around during all these ups and downs. I promise part 3 should end up shorter in recompense.

Raga posted in discussion that they were taking a small break.

"You brass hunk of JUNK!" shouts Mika, mildly amused at her own skill.

I don't get to know if an attack missed for Parry and Riposte, so I would have just parried whatever the first attack was that came my way, that way I can use riposte. So I'd definitely be down a panache, but if my roll beat its roll+4 (because of size difference), then my riposte would have gone off.

"Now, let's return the favor."

Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 7 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 6 = 14
Crit damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
If that confirms, I regen a Panache

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 7 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 6 = 15

Parry and Riposte:

Parry: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
Riposte: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
I'm gonna go with no.

Unfortunately, Charmed life is a "decide before the roll" type thing. Go ahead and apply it to any Fort or Will save made against a spell, trap, disease, or poison. (Mostly, not against environmental effects, alchemical things, or reflex saves of any kind) If I run out before the end of an adventure, it'll be the first time. I've got 4/day at level 6.

As for the spoilered parry/riposte, I planned to already, though do forgive me if I forget.

I left the day job open so you guys could write it in. Honestly easier for both of us that way.

As for what character I'd like to bring:

As much as Nalaia would be fun to add, I'm actually leaning more on my swashbuckler Mika. That way she's more of a direct replacement for the fighter we lost. I say this mostly because Nalaia was specifically designed to be more of a controller-face for PFS that can threaten people if needed. Meanwhile, Mika is the proper "in your face" fighter that I believe we need.

But, being honest, I'll leave that up to you. Mika is currently level 6 (top of the range for the next floor), and after slow tracking, she'll match suggested level for the rest of the dungeon. But if y'all would prefer the controller oracle, I'm still down to bring her.

Still in a back brace (will be for a few more weeks), but I'm feeling a whole lot better already!

I should start working back up to consistent posting (again, aside from Friday and Saturday, as those are my IRL Pathfinder days) starting today. Especially now that my work has gone back to normal things and I've gotten back to several-minute-long compile times (yay coding).

"Cold iron is easy enough." he says. "Lots of people walking around with their fancy metals. I think I've got a few swords in here. Maybe a longspear. Let me just--"

Ingoe stops as he sees Wolfgang bend over just a bit to get a good luck inside the box before his entire body crusts over in stone.

Wolfgang is petrified by whatever was in the box.

"Oh my gods! What in the nine hells just...Now I can swear to you I have no clue how that happened, though it would explain why my arm hairs got all sorts of brittle when I tried to look in the box.

"Tell ya what," Ingoe runs to a pile of polearms and grabs what appears to be a cold iron spear before handing it to Zeke. "This one's on the house. Whatever's in there...kill it. Before it does whatever that was again."

For what it's worth, the petrification here isn't permanent. But, uhh, I do definitely advise killing the thing in the box. Whoever takes the Coup De Grace (as the thing is helpless), you may deal with this however you normally deal with gaze attacks, but I ask you roll the percent miss chance (if you have one) in secret. Somebody else WILL have to look in the box to confirm if it died.

I would like to offer a sincere apology to all of my Play by Post tables. I've been feeling quite off these past few weeks, with this week as a turning point. I've managed to narrow down what exactly is causing these feelings to "GM fatigue".

I think I've got these feelings sorted out, and I'm moving one of my games into early-level Starfinder for a bit to help keep things "easy" for me to prep while I actually get caught up on prep for two of my other irl games. Unfortunately, as a consequence, Play by Post had suffered, as I spent the time I'd normally have used for PbP on prep for these games. I've received enough of a break in prepping the Starfinder Beginner Box and stuff, so I think I'll be able to get back to posting daily soon (TM). In the meantime, just hang tight. I'm definitely not abandoning these tables.

I'm trying soooo very hard as a sorcerer to stay positive, but I'm level 5 in PFS and it's getting incredibly difficult to stay positive. I can literally feel that I'm getting weaker. Enemies are becoming hit-point bags that are best overcome with a fighter's crits, or a rogue's or barbarian's consistency. My puny little fireball, though good in fights with a bunch of little things, finds itself almost completely ineffective against anything of a higher level than me.

Why is it that fighters get to fight well, but it feels like spellcasters don't get to spell well? I feel like I've got to be missing something. I don't want to play debuff. I don't want to play support. I want to be a blaster, and I'm feeling more and more like that position has been removed from the game in any way that can outclass the martials...

It's not that I want to "Be the best". It's that I honestly feel, in comparison, that casters are now at the lower end of the spectrum. I just want to be halfway decent. My GM worries every time the fighter's turn comes around. Never worries for mine.

He then turns his attention to the game after getting dealt in. "Yeah birdbrain, tell him where we've been." Shakur says, obviously a bit jumpy. The Marriage AND The Twin? Not a bad hand at all.

Shakur plops a card down on the table before blinking for a moment, slowly taking the card back to his hand. "Uhh. Wait. Which....which ruleset are we using? Gathering the Magic or Stonehearth?"

Sure will is the bad save, but I do agree that the mooks this will work on are best left to the fighter. Stunned 1, sure I took their action, but I'm using TWO of mine to Rarely take one of theirs? 4d6+7 damage isn't much when high level monsters have over 300 hit points? Am I missing something?

If a spell is great 10 percent of the time and awful the other 90....why is it worth casting?

Edit: also, on a successful save, now you're doing half the terrible damage...

He'll use all of his second level slots for restorations every day for the time being. One for curing sanity damage, and one for lowering his madness DC.

Once Shakur is feeling more, well, normal, he'll move on to curing Urzok with both counseling and restoration.

Please forgive my delay. This part of the scenario is technically an encounter, and I'm pretty sure we already finished it up. I've just got to get it all together in one place, which is taking a bit because successes give rewards on top of the secondary objective. I hope to get the post finished today, but it's possible I won't have the time (or quarantine concentration) to get it today. I'll guarantee tomorrow at the latest, but if I do all of this one right now I may not have time for my other games. Thank you for your patience.

Tseghet rushes forward. Merritt drenches the thing in fire. Torrak smashes into it, causing it to lurch upwards.

It decides to continue the movement and attempt to stand up.

It then dies horribly as Tseghet and Torrak smash it to bits.

Loot: A fancy breastplate on the body worth some moneys.

---

There is one more room I forgot. Sorry.

Casing the joint, the Pathfinders find one remaining room.

A finely woven rug with a subtle tan and moorit pattern covers the floor of this bedroom. A garderobe enclosed by a wall is in the northeast corner, and to the west of it stands a large wardrobe.

The wardrobe is locked. But as Merritt takes 20 to open it, you find more loot, including another Spire transport token.

Since you honestly have no reason to search the location with the secret door, since it's the bathroom, you move on. There was no loot, just a bit of backstory on Tarrin that's not important since she's a puddle of flesh.

With that, the Pathfinders deem the floor cleared, and return to the surface.

Once again, I'll be getting the Chronicles ready, but for now I'll let you begin the level up process by informing you how much stuff you all get

For completing the floor, the Pathfinders each receive 4 prestige points, 3 xp, and 3,711gp. They also gain access to another Land Rush for 2 prestige points, and the Splinter Slayer boon (When a sneak attack is scored against you, you can use this boon to negate up to 2 dice of sneak attack from the attack. When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.)

They also gain access to the following:
Greenblood oil (100gp each, limit 2 doses)
Potion of invisibility (300gp)
spire transport token (600gp, limit 1)

ALSO: The next 2 floors are to be done with slow track if following the suggested level guidelines. The next floor is also different in its own right, and should be pretty short. The one after is a bit of a nightmare, though. We'll see how it goes.

Please post in the discussion when your characters are leveled up and ready to go. Also expect the chronicles to show up there sometime within the next 48 hours.

"Mmm. Bodies. My favorite. You really should be sure to give people their proper burial rights, though." Shakur says a bit sarcastically. "Here, let me give you a hand!" Shakur says as he strides into the room, pointing at the "stew" and causing an arm to fly towards Black. He, of course, does the best he can to just b***h slap the ghoul with it.

Telekinetic projectile: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 17
Damage?: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 + 1 = 11

EDIT: A - Stride. AA - Telekinetic Projectile.

Shakur calls his dagger back to his hand like Mjolnir before sheathing it again.

"That definitely wasn't just a lizard. Did you see how snakey and scary it was?!" he calls out while retrieving his healer's kit. "Urzok, get over here."

Treat wounds DC 20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 Really?

Hero point.

Treat wounds DC 20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Heals: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 8) + 10 = 21

After Shakur is done treating, he quickly turns to Jevar and then to himself.

Treat wounds DC 15 Jevar: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Well. Screw you too dice.
Treat wounds DC 15 Shakur: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Damage to Jevar: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Healing to me: 2d8 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

As shakur goes to cut the bandage for Jevar, he accidentally digs his dagger into the poor wizard's arm. "SORRY! sorry. Oh I'm....I'll be over here."

If you’re before everyone else and all the enemies are after you but before your allies, don’t rush in. Personally, I wouldn’t waste a spell saving you (though I have a caster who will for me, but I’d change if the group dynamic changed).
I know a few groups that would consider that metagaming, especially on the first round.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with that. But it's stuff like that (and putting all the big strong monsters on the same initiative) that really screws over players into this lull of "guess I need a Cleric".

@SuperBidi: The party isn't set. It's PFS, so the unfortunate side effect of organized play comes in here. We can't guarantee the table has anybody capable of healing at it, which is definitely the first problem.

Though, I do have to say the "just have two healers" solution is actually a pretty dang good solution I hadn't managed to come up with. Two people capable of healing definitely reduces the strain of "Hey, I want to do something else please, can you stop getting hit!" and turns it into a more "My turn or your turn to heal him?" approach. Definitely makes bosses a bit less scary if two people can help revive the Rogue who wanted to flank.

Nothing to see here. Torrak's just going crazy.
