I agree with keeping the healing potions, and Wolfgang will take the arrows as a matter of principle (that principle being not paying for something he can take from someone else). Wolfgang will also take the four sets of manacles and toss them in the bag of holding, just in case.

I expect at least one of us will regret not taking the brooch of shielding at some point during the run of this AP, but I agree that at this moment we probably need the cash more.

After selling everything and splitting the rewards evenly, everybody gets 1670gp, BTW. Let me know what you'd like to purchase with it. Ingoe should, at this point, have pretty much everything you need. There are exceptions.

I would personally like a +1 cloak and to upgrade my armor to +1. For the latter case, I'm guessing that Ingoe wouldn't have the tools necessary to properly upgrade the armor, so I'd have to purchase an entire new set, in which case I would sell my studded leather and get a chain shirt.

That is correct. Ingoe is not a magic dude, just a sleezeball of a dockworker. He'd likely have a +1 chain shirt hanging around, as it's one of the more common options for armor, so go for it!

At this point, you just sold a bunch to him, so there will be no markup. Consider it more of a "trade" situation, but he still takes a 10% cut.

Did he get the scrolls of Masterwork Transformation we requested?

Can we get a wand of Protection from Good?

@Zelicia How is the wand of Infernal Healing doing?

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

Yes, he has the scrolls.

Yes, he's got the wand, though it only has 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (11) + 30 = 41 charges. The price is adjusted accordingly. (15gp per charge, making it 615gp total)

Everyone comfortable chipping in 615/4 = 153.75 gp for the wand?

Might make sense for Marcianus to hold it as he doesn't have a big combat role.

Marcianus: the PvG wand sounds good to me.

@GM - Does Ingoe have access to a cold iron rapier and cold iron arrows? If so, Wolfgang's purchases would be:

Starting gold: 511.7gp
Payment and loot sales: 1,670gp
Total: 2,181.7gp

Cloak of resistance +1 -1,000gp
Scroll of masterwork transformation -150gp
Scribe masterwork transformation into spellbook -40gp (Wolfgang passes the Spellcraft check taking 10)
Cold iron rapier -40gp
Transform into masterwork cold iron rapier -300gp
Transform shortbow into mwk shortbow -300gp
50 cold iron arrows -5gp
1/4 wand of protection from good -153.75gp
(Sale of old mwk rapier: 320 x 0.5=160-10%=144gp)
Total purchases/sale: -1,844.75

2,181.7-1,844.75=336.95gp left

One other thing: would you object to me trading out snowball for magic weapon as one of Wolfgang's free spells for leveling up? I think it will fit his style better.

Okay, updated my stats assuming I get that +1 chain shirt and +1 cloak, as well as chipping in 153.75 gp for that wand. I also marked the studded leather Sicaria was wearing since near the start of the campaign for sale in the inventory sheet; to save bookkeeping now I think it's better to just sell that during our next shopping time.

I'm an idiot - Wolfgang can't cast second level spells yet. He will scribe masterwork transformation into his spellbook and make the other purchases mentioned above, but will hold onto his masterwork rapier and will not transmute his cold iron rapier or shortbow into masterwork weapons until level 4.

@GM - one last thing.

At level 3, Wolfgang also gains the eldritch scoundrel class feature Alarm Sense:

Alarm Sense (Su): At 3rd level, an eldritch scoundrel gains an intuitive sense that warns her when she is near a magic trap. This functions as the trap spotter rogue talent, but applies only if the eldritch scoundrel comes within 10 feet of a magic trap. This ability replaces trap sense danger sense (for unchained rogues).

Trap Spotter (Ex): Whenever a rogue with this talent comes within 10 feet of a trap, she receives an immediate Perception skill check to notice the trap. This check should be made in secret by the GM.

I will try not to refer to it as his Spidey-Sense in character.

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

Haha! Noted, thanks Wolfgang.

I've been working with Zelicia on her purchases. She's missed some of the gold from earlier on her sheet (hence the holdup), so she's got a bit more to work with than I thought. She'll pitch in for the wand, get her own wand of Mage Armor (Marc will have to cast it on her), and throw in a +1 cloak.

ALSO: An update on the situation that's been keeping me from posting: The situation with my game of choice keeps getting worse, pretty thoroughly killing my motivation by the time I'm done with work. It IS beginning to actually resolve, though, so here's hoping it's all solved this week. They've claimed most affected users will be back in the game this week, though they've consistently stretched the truth during this whole process, so I'm doubtful.

Yeah, I think it got eaten. Thankfully I pre-write everything into a Word document I have open for this purpose, so I could just do a bunch of Ctl+Z to get back to it.

Two things:

1) Thank you for dealing with my abrupt absences. Mental state has been all over the place lately for some reason. I'm hoping it stabilizes soon.

2) Obligatory: sorry about the map. This fight does need to be fought on two maps, and the forest floor map is notably 10 foot squares, so keep that in mind when determining movement and such.

So, a while back I mentioned buying a longbow for Sicaria, but things got interrupted by a basilisk in a box and the public execution. Would it be fair to say that Sicaria would've gotten one in the intervening time?

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

Yes, that's completely fair.

Also, I swear my work is reading my discussion posts here on Paizo. Every time I say something about trying to get more consistent on posting, my work changes so that I don't have time to post during the average work day. So now, I've been temporarily moved to a new team with much stricter deadlines, so I've been going hard at that, leaving little mental capacity for other things after the workday. This should only last another week or two, after which I really do hope to get back to daily posting.

I'm a little confused - there's no visible crank, whoever released the ropes on this side needed to see Zeke step onto the bridge to get the timing right, so... can Wolfgang see a window on the structure that might indicate where the controls might be inside?

Pulling back the curtain, perception checks were too low. There's a small hole in the wall of the nearby structure that was capable of watching the bridge.

I am starting to reduce my footprint here on the Paizo forums.

I am rather frustrated with 1E as a system, especially with all of the bloat of poorly conceived and written rules in all of the small books they forced out to keep the subscription income up.

I will finish out this combat, but you guys should start looking for a long term replacement.

I appreciate the effort the GM and players have put forth to make this an interesting campaign. It has been fun, though the experiment of playing an "evil" character has never really connected for me.

Hell's Vengeance - Slides

I've been thinking, and I think this is where we call it. At least for PF 1e version of this campaign.

This is now the 4th player this campaign has lost (+ a GM switch), and it's looking like 1e is dying pretty rapidly here on the forums (last I checked), so getting a replacement player, especially this late into the book, is going to be quite a hassle.

I'd like to propose the following options, for all players (technically including Marcianus, if he wishes) to choose.

1) We call time of death for this adventure path right here. An unfortunate outcome, but no major loss on our ends.

2) We can try to convert this into a 2e campaign with the current players (and/or pick up new players). I use Free Archetype and Ancestry Paragon in my home games, so we should be able to get characters that are very similar to what we've got running right now. I am experienced in 2e campaigns and the ruleset, so it wouldn't be very painful on my end, aside from needing to convert the NPCs. (The angel knight in particular is going to take some work to get correct, at the very least)

3) We can try to replace Marcianus, but I'll state right here and now: I'm not willing to look for the new player myself, as I'm a(n almost) newly minted Venture Lieutenant for my area and need to get in person games running again, so I don't necessarily have time to also go person hunting for 1e. (I imagine a quick post on the 2e looking for player forums should be able to get us a replacement quick if that's the route we want to take instead.)

I will let you know that I, personally, have no preference among the three options. If you have any more suggestions or any strong preferences for or against the above options, let me know by either posting here or shooting me a PM.

No matter what happens, thank you guys for the fun campaign! And thank you for putting up with all the weird inconveniences that have come up in my life during that time!

Non-binary LE Human Cleric (warpriest) of Achaekek/3 | HP 38/38 | AC 20 | F: +8, R: +8, W: +10 | Perc. (t): +8; Stealth (e) +10 | Speed 25ft | Spells: DC 18; 1st: 3/3, 2nd: 2/2; Font: 2/2 | Active conditions: None.

If I’m being perfectly honest, this is my last direct tie to 1e (other than the new Owlcat game, but that’s beside the point), and I’m…about in the same boat as Marcianus. I would love to see this AP converted to 2e, and would love to move forward as such.

That said, I am biased; I was the one who initially pushed Hawthwile to run this, and I was also the one who suggested it to our current GM when the former felt uncomfortable running it further. I’m the primary catalyst for this campaign and I obviously want to see it move forward, but if folks don’t want to keep trying to steer a sinking ship, then I definitely understand.

I would prefer option 2, clearly, but I will more than likely defer to the will of the majority, whatever that may be.

Male human tiefling (grimspawn) rogue (eldritch trickster) 3 | HP 35/35 | AC 20 (Deny Advantage) | F: +6, R: +11, W: +7; +1 vs traps | Decept: +5; Perc: +7 (low-light vis, +1 vs traps); Stealth +11; +2 on initiative | Speed 25’ | cold iron rapier +9 (1d6+1 P), shortbow +9 (1d6 P) | Spell Attack +8, DC 18 | Active*: N/A

Sorry for my delayed response - busy couple of days at work and at home (and yes, I'm still working from home, so that means I've just been busy). I think I'm with Sicaria - I'm not sick of 1E, but I'm only in one ongoing 2E game (Sicaria's player's converted Hell's Rebels) and I'd really like the opportunity to play with the shiny new toys a little more. And as the only other original player still standing, I'd like to stick with the AP if possible. I understand if it doesn't work out, but I'll be happy to keep twirling Wolfgang's moustache if it does.

(Yes, I'm going to spend the rest of the night rebuilding Wolfgang under 2E rules just to see how it goes, why do you ask?)

Suli U.Summoner 3 | HP 19/19 | AC 12(16) T 12 FF 10(14) | F +1 R +3 W +3 | Init +2 Perc +0 (Low Light) | E. Assault 0/1 | Spells 1/4 1st | Effects: Mage Armor

1E, 2E, makes little difference to me as far as this AP goes.

The character and story are not grabbing my attention. Also, no offense to anyone, but we started this combat sequence three months ago. I don't expect that to pick up with the addition of new rules.

That issue seems to broadly encompass every game on these forums, and is a major reason I am moving away from these forums.
