Sorry, had our Iceland pity party this weekend and didn't get anything done. I'll work on the level up tonight and check in when I'm ready.
Anybody else think these boards are about to get more active?

![]() |

I had a game on Saturday on Roll20 and the server was getting miiiiighty strained. Hopefully they’ve put a few more machines on duty to compensate for all the extra traffic as everyone moves their games online for a few weeks.

GM XaveTheNerd |

A tangent, if you will:
This next floor is easy peasy if you want to do it the way it's anticipated a Pathfinder would do it, so let me put it like this:
Instead of slow tracking this floor, let's just get it over with. You'll receive probably 1 or 2 xp, depending on what happens. If you DO happen to qualify for all 3 xp on the floor, I'll give everybody a "half-tracked" floor.
So, what do ya say? Down for a short one? Or do we want to do it the "full credit" way (There are 4 goals for the floor. Complete 3, get full credit. 2 of the goals are rather opposite the typical response the Pathfinder Society [and therefore characters with any ounce of good] would give.)

Torrak Farcrusher |

Does getting 1 OR 2 mess with what happens when we slow track the next time around? Torrak is all for being less than good, especially if he can rub Tseghet's nose in it juuuuust a little ;)
These boards are about to get swamped! I had the same experience on Roll20! All aboard the strugglebus!

![]() |

Just play it straight, GM. I have little doubt how it will eventually turn out given our party composition, but it'll still be great fun. We can always decide at the end of the floor to go full or half credit.

posting in all my groups: besides the whole COVID thing, and the bizarre earthquake that hit my area this morning, I'm going through a couple of pretty rough (but temporary) personal things in my life. I appreciate getting some slack as my posting hasn't been as often as I should. I don't want to drop and I should be back to posting more regularly soon-ish. Thanks for understanding.

Torrak Farcrusher |

Torrak doesn't have any other nonessential metal to sacrifice. Anyone else have something to stick to a magnet?
If not, in we go! Torrak is (unsurprisingly) ready to carve a path in if need be.

Zelphar Xyroris |

Getting caught back up on all my games now; thank you for giving me some slack. About to read through gameplay and see where we're at.

GM XaveTheNerd |

Sorry all. I'm unable to make a post here today due to the start of Outpost III. It shouldn't interrupt things at any other time.

Torrak Farcrusher |

Does getting 1 OR 2 [xp] mess with what happens when we slow track the next time around?
My response to gameplay is going to stem from the above question. Also gold, are we getting about half of the gold (the same amount as if we slow tracked)?

GM XaveTheNerd |

This actually puts you slightly off of slow track. Get's you 1 xp and 1/3 the usual gold amount, but allows us to play the next one at full without messing up future slow tracking (because 1.5 extra xp plus 1 extra xp isn't quite enough to reach a new level).
I'll leave the choice up to you guys. The other objectives aren't the, well, most friendly.

Torrak Farcrusher |

I'll attempt to summarize! GM, please jump in here if I'm wrong.
We have two choice as players. This choice arises because, apparently, the level we are playing only offers full rewards for clearing out the floor. The peaceful path we just took, doesn't dish out the same reward. In fact, having completed our Pathfinder mission (securing safe passage for future Pathfidner use), we've only earned a third of the rewards.
As I understand it, the choices are:
1 - Accept a third of the gold/xp and move on to the next level. This does not seem to mess with the slow tracking/normal track xp math that is involved with doing the whole Emerald Spire in PFS. The only issue I could see this having is if you planned on play Eyes of the Ten (a seeker tier scenario series) that requires exactly 33 xp for a character to participate.
2 - Refuse a third of the gold/xp and start cracking skulls for full gold/xp. I suspect an organic way of pushing the characters to this path would be to insist that all future Pathfinders can come in for free. Being that it seems to be against their religion, our only course of action to complete out mission at that point would be to kill them all.
Admittedly, I'm on the fence. Torrak has no moral issues with killing a bunch of stinky lizards. He has clear xenophobic tendencies, thinks this is a waste of metal, and was given a job to do (and will do what it takes to complete it). As a player, meh, I'm ok with either way, it doesn't seem to have an impact on the game, maybe a little less gold for the characters over all (the "less gold" being the difference of getting a third of a level's gold vs the half we'd get from slow tracking, like 17% less?)?
Assuming what I've said is correct, what does everyone think we should do? If I have to vote, it'd be to stick with my character and fight it out. I'm not going to be upset either way though.

GM XaveTheNerd |

The internet seems to have stolen my post.
Option 1 is move to the next level without messing up the slow track stuff later. It'll put you 1XP higher than you're supposed to be in all situations, but the slow track floors will still have you at the proper level if we full track the next one. Characters who complete the entire spire will actually over-level the bounds for Eyes of the Ten anyways. Option 1 would actually lead to slightly more gold as we'd full track the next one.
Option 2 is to, yes, crack some skulls and figure out what the Godbox really is. You'd need to slow track the floor if we do full-completion. It'd honestly be more work for less stuff. BUT: I'm perfectly fine doing this either way. Whichever way we do it doesn't actually affect my personal credit, and I'm always down for some skull cracking.

![]() |

Meh. Let’s just move on.

GM XaveTheNerd |

Alright. Two votes will move us on. I should be able to get the Chronicles to you by the end of the day.
For reference: You'll be receiving 1XP. 1PP. and 1600 gp.
The chronicle comes with a boon that gives you bonuses when diplomacizing with lizard humanoids and another Land Rush.

GM XaveTheNerd |

Dang it. I even told my wife to remind me. We both forgot. I'm working on the chronicles right now. Will be up here shortly.

GM XaveTheNerd |

Chronicles are here. Let me know when you're ready to continue.
I also don't think I did day job checks. I'll update the chronicles once you guys roll 'em here and apply 'em. I'll get them in the sheets as you get them to me.

![]() |

Perform (oratory), Land Rush: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 2 = 30

![]() |

Craft (alchemy), alchemy, alchemist's lab, crafter's fortune: 1d20 + 11 + 4 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 4 + 2 + 5 = 27
shirt reroll: 1d20 + 11 + 4 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 4 + 2 + 5 = 27

Torrak Farcrusher |

Just fyi, I don't see chronicles in the folder. No day job here! Still need to go through purchases/boon stuff, but right now he is saving his money, so I don't think it will change much.

GM XaveTheNerd |

Oop. Sorry @Merrit and @Tseghet. Missed that you rolled 'em. They have been updated.

Zelphar Xyroris |

Hey all! I got way behind on my PbP last week. Had some kinda rough IRL personal stuff and also work was kicking my butt, finishing 2 really big projects. But those projects are done! Gonna level up tonight. I'll post when ready. Thanks!

Torrak Farcrusher |

Zelphar, that is an awesome spell, I can't believe I've never heard of it before! At the east, Torrak is going to buy a mwk Nodachi. Likely will make a PP purchase, will edit when I do so.
EDIT: Ride the Waves it is!

Might I suggest an underwater crossbow for Merritt?

GM XaveTheNerd |

Unfortunately, fire bombs are not going to work underwater, as it's a fire based supernatural ability. I CAN confirm there are parts of the dungeon not underwater. You'll want to do what you can then.
To clarify: Bombs aren't thrown weapons. They're ranged attacks, yes, and they're thrown, yes, but they aren't "thrown weapons". They could still be used underwater if you have a way of dealing not fire damage. At least, that's what a forum post I found had agreed upon.
-------
You know the level in a video game where things just seem really hard and slow going for no reason whatsoever? That's this floor of the spire. I'm going to play tactics as written, but I'm going to go nice where I can. This floor has some interesting things to it, but it's really the "red headed step child" of the Spire floors.

GM XaveTheNerd |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Also. I cannot express how good of a laugh that got, Torrak! That was a great one! I'd give you a hero point but this is first edition.

![]() |

OK; Merritt is replacing his mwk light crossbow with an underwater version (370 gp for the underwater version, 167.5 gp to sell the normal one). He's also picking up a scroll of ride the waves for 700 gp.

GM XaveTheNerd |

Alright. I'll spend the weekend getting the next floor all ready and stuff. Let's plan to start up again with full gusto starting Monday.

GM XaveTheNerd |

An update for all my non-Outpost games. My home games have switched from Saturday and Sunday to Friday and Saturday, so my initial GM promise will change to the following.
"I will do everything I can to post Sunday through Thursday. I will make an honest attempt to get a post on Friday and/or Saturday; games where I am a player get priority on those days, and I will give a good attempt to post on both days. As for games I GM, those are up in the air. I'll do my best to post, but I make no promises."
Thank you for understanding!
-X

GM XaveTheNerd |

Holy. Crap.
What a way to start the floor! I wish you guys luck on this one. You'll probably need it.

Torrak Farcrusher |

I'm assuming because we didn't say we used them, those scrolls of "water doesn't matter" are still warm and cozy in our bags?

GM XaveTheNerd |

I'd say for this combat, yes. We'll go with "You weren't sure you were approaching the bottom of the stairs until the guy here was already aware, at which point he'd have gone hostile for spellcasting purposes.

GM XaveTheNerd |

Sorry to all on the delay. I've had a medical issue flare up, and we're still determining what the exact cause is. I was in quite a bit of pain yesterday, so I didn't worry about posting here. Thank you for understanding.

Zelphar Xyroris |

argh, I hate that I have to keep apologizing for not posting but here I am again. About to catch up in the gameplay thread...

Torrak Farcrusher |

With a color spray on deck, I'll wait to see how that goes down before posting!
Zelphar, depending on the results, a rocky coup de grace might be brutally effective too ;)

Ooh good point. If it's not too late GM—Rocky could CdG crabface if the Color Spray stuns it.
