"So my brothers long for the taste of glory, to purge the xenos, to route the heretic and to burn the unclean. Suit up brothers, for only in death does your duty end!"

I am the one that originally started this, but I know you have had other GMs since that picked it up which I am greatful for. I had been trying Dark Heresy 2nd with another account, but it didn't take off like this did. I just finished my real life Deathwatch Campaign which was a serious hit at my game store. I actually had to recruit more GMs to meet the demand so I am confident you will be pleased with it. So if there is enough interest I will post a link here under my new account-Gathrix, for a new campaign. It has a brutal start using the campaign book Soul Reaver from the Rogue Trader line, but if you survive you will know you earned every exp and renown to your name.

Gun Metal City is a Hive in Scintilla. It has a reputation for a lot of things, mainly Gunslingers. As I mentioned in the past, though you have yet to experience it due to the worlds we have been on, the entire sector is experiencing record crime rates. We believe that it is connected with the Tyrant Star, and that is why we are all working to figure out what the Tyrant Star could be. There is probably cult activity, but that is the specialty of the Ordo Hereticus and we are missing a large amount of their team currently. I believe Dasha and the Adeptas Sororatas might have some information on that, you are welcome to speak with them about that subject should the opportunity present itself.

He looks at the pict-recorderJust so you are clear, this was the secondary objective from last mission Yes, this will take some time to decipher. Maybe Brother Castil or Tellemachus will attempt to help in that endeavor while we travel.

The Ship creaks and moans as it enters the warp. It is clear the ship is traveling on borrowed time and that the parts from the facility on Phyrr and the Traitor Vessel are barley compatible. It is a testament to the quality of the Magos on board that it is working at all.

Once you have all gotten a day of rest and meditation the Watch Captain holds a meeting. He enters the room, his cybernetic leg is making more fuss than usual.

Due to the damage we received, we can not continue to follow the leads on Lady Rathbone. We will leave that up to Lord Inquisitor Gathrix. We have sent astrotelepathica communique to him and it will hopefully reach him in time to either meet with us on Scintilla, or continue the investigation as he sees fit. On Scintilla you will have all the amenities of a true Watch Fortress, including a Chaplin and a proper Library. I know these are things that have been sorely missed. This will be our longest Warp Jump yet. It will take almost a full month. Be diligent in cleaning your gear and continuing to use the training facilities on board the ship. It is likely we will have immediate assignments on Scintilla, Gun Metal City is in full riot last time we were contacted from anyone there. Questions?

Daemonhunter Ahmazzi will likely purge them.

You meet the Watch Captain at the time specified.

The Kill team is currently escorting some Sisters of Battle and a Deathcult Assassin. They will be back on the ship soon. They have been exposed to horrors on that ship better left unsaid, but we can not simply allow them back on the ship without checking them out. I want you to observe Daemonhunter Ahmazzi as he checks them. Learn how to spot a heretic. By the Emperor I hope that you find none this day, but even if that is the case the Daemonhunter can teach you much. Unless you have any questions for me, go wait for the survivors with him at the docking bay.

"It is not Brother Lucian. Most of the systems are not online. We have prioritized weaponry and that which we need to sustain life on the ship. Do now worry your Brothers are capable I am sure they will succeed.} The Watch-Captain whispers to Brother Lucian Maybe you can do something for me. This chaos has given us a chance to look into some of the other members of the Cabal. If Lady Rathbone was involved, it is possible she had others helping her within the cabal. Quietly slip into her old chambers and see if you can't find any evidence of the sort. Something the others might have missed. The Watch-Captain gives Brother Lucian a key.

"Thank you Brother Castil, that confirmed some suspicions we had. Return the data slate to the Keeper. He might have something for you."

You walk down the hall to the Vault where the Keeper stands as sentry. Guarding the collection of relics and secrets the Deathwatch have brought with them from the Watch-Fortress on Scintilla. "Thank you Brother-Librarian. I have a task that is rather mundane, but it does need a discerning eye. Inquisitor Van Vuygens has requested aid in re-categorizing his private library. It was thrown into disarray during the battle. I sent a servitor to assist him, but I am sure he would welcome a Librarian of the Astartes."

The chaos on the ship is coming under control, but there are still servitors rushing to fix things and the Watch Captain looks anxious when he enters your chambers.

"Brother Lucian, I need your assistance. Our Weapon batteries were damaged in the fight. Report to Magos Samson and assist him in recalibrating them."

"Brother Castil, can you make any sense of this?" He hands the Librarian a data slate with some odd writing on it.

For our initial breach the Sisters sent in servitors with breaching augers. They breached the hull and were able to operate several of the docking bays. I have coordinates of the docking bay the Sisters used. It is possible that the servitors are still operational, and using the same location might help you find any survivors. Hopefully the Sisters cleared a way for you as well.

No, one of the first things they hit was our scanners. The Magos going with you has worked on Ships though so trust in his guidance. The Watch Captain answers Brother Leon.

The original Breach team was to neutralize the command deck. As far as what state the traitor ship is in, I have no idea. We are still assessing our own damage. It stopped fireing on us, and there is a sizeable hull-breach in its center.

One the surface, techpriests and enginseers are unhooking the plasma generator. We need the holy spirits to rejuvenate the vessel of the righteous. Is all that is said when asked about it.

When you get back on the Pious Immolation it is a chaotic scene. Servators and techpriests are scrambling to respond to multiple ship issues.

Medical servators bring Brother Arkhos to a special room. The Deathwatch Keeper begins to assist his serious wounds. It is apparent now that he was an apothecary before became a Keeper. Once Brother Arhkos is stable, the Keeper races to collect Brother Jacob's geneseed.

Daemonhunter Ahmazzi takes the body of Brother Jacob and says a prayer over it as it is sealed in a Stasis chamber. It is unclear to the purpose of this and the ancient Inquisitor looks to be in no mood to answer questions.

Report to my office once you have returned the equipment and had a chance to get refreshed.

As the team begins to move to the next level another alarm goes off. A new blimp shows up on the Radar.

"Brothers, a traitor's battle barge has just arrived in the system. You will need to activate the ancient surface defenses if they still exist. The Pious Immolation is out gunned. You are the only hope." Watch Captain Enoch calls to the team via vox relay.

"This is Col. Folken, we have forces of chaos inbound. Will have to break the cordon and fall back to the compound to mount a defensive."

Brother Arkhos/Leon:
You know that the ancient Skitarii defenses do exist, but like much of the complex they are unpowered. You will need to turn on the emergency generators on the bottom level to activate them.

You come out of the warp and see the reddish planet through the stain-glass windows of the Pious Immolation. Red lights and alarms start to go off as enemy ships are detected. Immediately the powerful firestorm frigate begins to fire upon the enemies of the Empire.

"Make final preparations and load into the drop pod."

Brother Lutha:
[ooc]This would have been before you left actually cause Lord Inquisitor Gathrix is not currently on the Pious Immolation " I understand, unfortunately I am sent my Agents with Inquisitor Astrid Skane and they have all of those items with them. "

"The entire facility was abandoned, so nothing of importance was left, though I imagine the Adeptus Mechanicus would be grateful for anything recovered. It is possible some gun-servitors were left behind or other tech that the members of beasthouse have been using."

A map shows up on screen. It shows the basic outer structure. A simple rectangular design. In lower levels are similar in shape and there seems to be 12 levels. There is a main tower and two smaller guard towers next to the gate of a wall that surrounds the compound.

"I am dropping you right into the compound. I do not want to give our enemy any warning. You will drop in and begin combat immediately."

"There is some information on the old structure, but it is likely changed and overgrown. The Planet Phyrr is notorious for aggressive plant life that grows at a rapid rate. It is unknown what portions the heretics have kept up on. The beasthouse is known to employ advanced technology, especially in the area of bio-technology. Most of this technology is xeno in origin.

"We are about to reach Phyrr. The plan is a cordon and search. Col Folken will post his men on the outskirts of the compound to catch any stragglers, Deathwatch will Drop-Pod in. Any questions?

Report In. Vote for Leader/Oath. Requisition for this mission is 200, but remember there will be rolls to see if the items you want are present due to the supplies given to the Tigers Argent.

Primary Mission Clear abandoned Adeptus Mechanicus compound of heretics.
Secondary Mission Locate evidence of other Beasthouse Activities in the sector, and or information involving Lady Wrath and possible ties to House Rathbone.

"All of you did well in different aspects as to be expected, but one thing many of you failed on was the ability to understand Eldar runes. Understanding vile Xenos is part of our duty, however we might abhor it. For the rest of the trip to Phyrr, Inquisitor Van Vuygens is going to spend one hour a day going over some very fundamental Xeno knowledge that will hopefully benefit you in the field."

You can all add +5% to your Forbidden Lore: Xenos

Yes, you still get the overall bonus from attempting to climb those crazy trees. However, I think Arkhos ran away with this one regardless.

After everyone has completed the course, the Watch Captain calls everyone to a formation.
1d10 ⇒ 5

"You all finished the course. It was difficult and it has given you all insight on what you need to work on. The winner of this challenge is Brother Arhkos. Step forward brother."

"For completion of this training with exceptional marks I present Brother Arhkos with the Seal of Deathwatch. Let all in our organization recognize it."

You gain 5 renown and a purity seal with the Symbol of the Deathwatch as its anchor. It reads
To be Unclean
That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Impure
That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be abhorred
That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Reviled
That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Hunted
That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Purged
That is the fate of the Xenos
To be Cleansed
For that is the fate of all Xenos
You may take a full round to recite these words during combat to double the normal bonus of Hatred Xenos, making it a +20 to WS to the Kill-Team so long as they can hear you, this lasts for rounds equal to your Fellowship Bonus. Non-space marines are also inspired by this litany and will receive the normal bonuses of Hatred : Xenos when they hear it.

Roll for each challenge Once unless you were granted a reroll from one of the tactics. Some challenges have multiple skills to roll for or choices to make. No fate points can be used. Person with the highest degree of success will be granted a prize and bragging rights.

The first challenge is a patch of mud followed by a series of tightly packed plants and trees that must be negotiated.
Roll Agi or Survival for this challenge

When you finally get through you see a small narrow path between two large trees that are covered in barbs and a thick sap.
Roll climb -30 or acrobatics -10. If you choose climb you will finish the course with one degree of success higher

Next is a series of targets. The first two pop up in the far distance as you negotiate more mud. Then two suddenly pop up in front of you. Roll BS -10 and WS

After taking a winding path you come to a very large door. There are strange runes on this door and a control panel to the right.
Roll Tech-Use or Forbidden Lore: Xenos

The door opens and gunfire opens up from two gun servitors inside. Behind them is the button you push to finish the challenge.
Roll Dodge and BS or WS

Ok its been 24 hours I suspect if anyone wanted to do more RP they had a chance, if not you will get a chance after the event.

The Watch Captain brings you all to a large portion of the ship that has been set up with obstacles. "You will be judged on accuracy, speed and completion of the obstacle. Any questions?"

Tactics Assualt Doctrine+0:
You have read about or participated in jungle assaults like this in the past. you gain one reroll for the course

Recon/Stealth -10:
Surveying the course you see spots were you can gain advantages in height or obscurity. you gain one reroll for the course, and you are considered to have completed the course with one degree higher of success

I should have the course finished before I go to sleep tonight.

There is a week to get to Phyrr. Using an Idea from Brother Lutha Hallan, I will create a challenge. This is similar to going to NTC in the military, basically prepping you for the mission ahead of you. This will be a competition. Everyone can participate, this is not a "mission" mechanically this is an extended action. No fate points can be used for this. The winner will be decided based on total degrees of success.

After the meeting the Watch Captain talks to the Kill-Team "I had already considered what Brother Lutha had asked. I used to be stationed on the Moon of Phyrr. Combined with Magos Vek's first hand knowledge of the biology of the planet we will be designing a simulation for you all to prepare for the mission ahead. "

"In other news, Brother Johann's story checks out, the gene-seed is indeed of the Tigers Argent and it maintained its purity all these years. As promised we are going to assist him and his chapter. They are in need of weaponry and supplies. So until we get back to Scintilla, we will be shorter on supply. I feel though that after encountering the Phyrr cat in nothing but a robe and bolter, you are all ready for any challenge on Phyrr regardless of the equipment provided."
Elite Advance You all gain Peer: Tigers Argent, but until you return to Scintilla anything out of the Armory has a chance not to be available. I will roll 1d100 based on a value of 100-requisition value. So if something cost 35 requisition, you have a 65% chance to get it.

"The mission will be to take out that facility and track them back to their source. Less investigation, more seek and destroy Astartes."

Brother Thedius:
"Tests are being done to ensure what Brother Johann claims is true. We have a Magos that specializes in the biologies and Inquisitors are questioning him heavily. As to the history, many would claim the hero was of their chapter so I would not take speculation of the Iron Hands or Sons of Medusa to heart. I will take your advice into consideration. You may go train and meditate.

Brother Lutha:
"Some believe the Tyrant star will grant them wishes or manifest their desires. Some times this is in the form of warp-energy. Battle will be inevitable, prepare yourself best you can."

Brother Thedius:
"The Ultramarines and the Imperial Fists have long had a history of not seeing eye to eye. It seems that you two carry on the tradition. We are checking out the Tigers Argent's story. What part about his story does not match with your research? The Inquisition is currently investigating Lady Rathbone, but we do not want to tip her off as she has influence in the organization. It maybe that she was working for the Inquisition when she dealt with these heretics. It is not uncommon for the Inquisition to use undercover agents. If she is guilty though, she will be judged."

If someone else is due an Honour I will address it here also

"Now, I need to speak to all of you individually."
He calls each of you in one at a time.

Brother Thedius:
"You have been very critical of the Inquisition and asked a lot of questions. This is seen as a good thing by some, but has also marked you as a potential radical by others. I would encourage your curiosity, but suggest you show all due respect when addressing members of the Inquisition. Other than that, your time here has been exceptional. In fact I seek your council on a situation. The Cabal has uncovered additional information on the Beasthouse and Lady Rathbone. We are split in our decision to either continue on to head-quarters on Scintilla, or address this issue immediately. What do you think?

Brother Lutha Hallan:
"Brother Hallan come in. So far you have been a good team member, but I sense a lack of drive to lead the team. A marine with your specialties make a good team leader. I want you to consider this for the next mission. Speaking of mission, I seek your council on a situation. The Cabal has uncovered additional information on the Beasthouse and Lady Rathbone. We are split in our decision to either continue on to head-quarters on Scintilla, or address this issue immediately. What do you think?

Brother Lucian Vartas:
"Brother Lucian you bring honor to your chapter. You have gained the respect of many in our organization and so far have embodied what is required of a Deathwatch Marine.I seek your council on a situation. The Cabal has uncovered additional information on the Beasthouse and Lady Rathbone. We are split in our decision to either continue on to head-quarters on Scintilla, or address this issue immediately. What do you think?

Brother Arkhos:
"I know you are newly assigned to my Kill-Team, and this last mission was a bit out of the ordinary, but so far you have proven to be an asset. I seek your council on a situation. The Cabal has uncovered additional information on the Beasthouse and Lady Rathbone. We are split in our decision to either continue on to head-quarters on Scintilla, or address this issue immediately. What do you think?

Brother Elyas:
"You have made friends within this organization, but there still exists a stigma associated with your chapter I am sorry to say. If you continue to perform your duties as you have, perhaps you can change this perception. I seek your council on a situation. The Cabal has uncovered additional information on the Beasthouse and Lady Rathbone. We are split in our decision to either continue on to head-quarters on Scintilla, or address this issue immediately. What do you think?

Brother Tellemachus:
"Come in Brother Tellemachus. I am sorry if I seemed to jump to conclusions before, but I have worked for the Inquisition long enough to understand the potential those who are attuned to the immaterium posses. It seems you have reigned in what ever phenomenon happed to you before. If you need to talk I am here. I know the feeling of being outcast. I seek your council on a situation. The Cabal has uncovered additional information on the Beasthouse and Lady Rathbone. We are split in our decision to either continue on to head-quarters on Scintilla, or address this issue immediately. What do you think?

Brother Leon:
"Come in Tech-Brother. You have performed your duties within your specialty exceptionally. Thank you for your dedication. I seek your council on a situation. The Cabal has uncovered additional information on the Beasthouse and Lady Rathbone. We are split in our decision to either continue on to head-quarters on Scintilla, or address this issue immediately. What do you think?

++++++++++++++++++++++++Back on the Pious Immolation++++++++++++++++

"Deathwatch, follow me. Brother Johann report to Inquisitor Van Vuygens. I have explained the situation to him, and after he evaluates you, and has those gene-seeds analyzed, you will be granted the help we spoke about. " He leads the Kill-Team to his office and sends his serfs to get refreshments.

"Congratulations team on a job well done. I saw esprit de corps in our mission and none contradicting orders. There was a warrior of Ancient Terra who once said 'In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.' When you question orders you are doing nothing. If you follow orders, they might not be correct, but at least you are doing something." The serfs return with drinks and the Watch Captain holds up his glass "I believe we made the right decision in regards to Brother Johann. We choose loyalty to a Brother over the Ministorum, but there is never an easy answer. To loyalty!" He toasts, and drinks the strong drink.

"Now to business." The Watch Captain opens up his drawer and reveals a black box with a Marksman's Honor. "Brother Lutha Hallan step forward. For your accuracy in combat and dedication to the ideals of the Adeptus Astartes, by the Authority granted to me by High Lord Anton Zerbe of the Calixian Conclave, Overseer of the Tyrantine Cabal, I award you with this honour." He hands it to Brother Lutha.
The benefits listed in Rites of Battle are a bit ambiguous, so I will make it specific. When requisitioning any ranged weapon, even those of relic status or archeotech, you count as having an additional 20 requisition and one higher renown status.

Tellemachus:
"It is my job to question you. You are not only a black shield, but you are a Librarian. You have powerful potential and it is my responsibility to ensure you have it under control. You seem sane however despite the phenomenon I just witnessed. Be aware that I too wear the black shield, and constant scrutiny is going to be something you are going to have to endure. Already having two Black Shields has raised some eyebrows in the Cabal, you have proven your self to Lord Inquisitor Gathrix, but there are many others that are still skeptical of our intentions. It might set the teams mind at ease if you allowed the Chaplin to look you over once we get to Scintilla. That should be our next destination, but with recent events that might change."

The beastmasters look up at Elyas with incredible fear. " Look man, we just take care of the beasts, don't kill us please. I'll tell you everything!"
Ask any questions you have for them. If they know they will tell you.

Brother Lutha Hallan:
"Aye Brother Lutha, that is the wisest course, though the Medicus knows, but I think he can be persuaded. Sister Vesta is very pragmatic and will see the larger picture I am sure. High Lady Sarah though, so is beyond reproach and will not stand for any amount of...perceived deceit. She is the one who must not ever know."

Tellemachus:
Once you and the Watch Captain are out of earshot of the others, he looks at you sternly. " I want to ask you plainly. Are you beginning to become a liability? Only I know of your past. Is it starting to surface again? Look at me and swear you are still a loyal servant of the Emperor."

Brother Tellemachus returns from the warp.
"Brother Tellemachus, are you injured. What happened to you? The Watch Captain asks concerned.

He looks at Brother Johann
"Brother Lutha gave you his word, and I will ensure we honor it. First, tend to those heretics wounds. Brother Elyas, after Brother Johann stops the bleeding, ask them the usual questions. I will report back to Sister Vesta and the Pious Immolation. Brother Tellemachus come with me. The rest of you return once Brother Elyas is done with the heretics, the sewer is a good place to leave filth so at least it is a convenient location to do what needs to be done with them once they are no longer of use. "

Yes! Stop those Heretics!

1d10 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

The Watch Captain calls everyone to Hold their ground.Auto passing his command test because I forgot all his abilities, I should make a profile for him. I am pretty sure he has a talent that lets him do that once a session or something to that effect
Activating "Stalwart Defense" on his turn. Mechanically it is the same as Immovable Defence of the Dark Angels. His is improved, anyone joining in the squad mode will receive +20 to Ballistic Skill and Dodge so long as you remain stationary.

"I will leave that to the individual. When you are not on mission, your time is yours. You are all disciplined warriors that know what is required of you. Should I suspect otherwise this might change in the future. How ever your chapter meditates or contemplates such things I suggest spending some time addressing that to steel your mind for what is to come. " He takes a sip of some Fenrisian Ale, and looks at Brother Thedius.

"I must now attend to some things for Inquisitor Vuygens and thank him for addressing you all so casually. We are blessed to have some even tempered Inquisitors with us, but be warned not all of them are so. Had you addressed Anton Zerbe or Daemon Hunter Ahmazi as you did Van Vuygens you might have found yourself undergoing another hypno-indoctrination treatment. Save your wrath for the enemy."

"To be part of the Deathwatch is an honor to some, a burden to others, and to some it is tradition. What ever it means to you, understand that you are here now and you will continue to be here until the task is completed. The more efficient you are, the faster the task will be complete. Then you can go back to your chapters, and no matter what the Deathwatch means in your chapter, one thing you will have when you return is respect." He looks at Brother Tellemachus

"For those of you like myself, the Deathwatch is something much more. A chance at redemption. There is no third chance, this is the end of the line. You will succeed or fall into darkness."

"So contemplate what the Deathwatch means to you. I shall recite the Oath of Loyalty when we embark tomorrow. Be ready."

"I do not know. Let's stop the chatter, and move to hand signals. No reason to advertise our presence. Questions will be answered soon."

You begin to move tactically ahead.

Elyas:
Traitor is sometimes a subjective term, but in your case it is pretty clear. I would think the standard Dark Angel knows a bit more about the Horus Heresy than most. If you have the Forbidden Lore :Traitor Legions than you probably know some more recent heresys. Nothing is really screaming heresy at you other than the fact this was done at the tomb, in fact if this was done on the battle field it would have been a standard practice.

Once you all get in position in the sewer, you notice it is not well lit, but it is not dark enough to hamper Astartes' senses(unless your chapter has a flaw with your Occulube or Lyman's ear). The smell makes you wish maybe you did have a weaker sense in that regard.
going to roll awareness for the two up front to keep things moving. If you do not reroll with a FP by tomorrow I will keep those scores.
Awareness Elyas: 1d100 ⇒ 72
Awarness Arkhos: 1d100 ⇒ 69

" All will be determined in time. For now we locate this rogue."

Those w/auspex tech use routine +60:
There are several large figures in the sewer ahead aprox 40meters. Possibly some kind of mutant rodents or caiman.

Tellemachus:
You sense no warp disturbances.

Before going in the secret passage the Watch Captain turns to Sister Vesta "Please inform command on the Pious Immolation of our whereabouts. Let them know we are in pursuit of possible Astartes fugitive."

" I do not think pict recordings from other buildings will be helpful. That is not how he accessed the tomb." The Watch Captain says as he hits a hidden switch behind a sconce holding an unlit torch. A secret door revels itself leading down into the sewers.

"We go in by twos. I want 3 meter spacing. Brothers Elyas and Arkhos take lead, followed by Myself and Brother Tellemachus, Then Brothers Leon and Hallan. Brother Lucian you have rearguard."

Brother Lutha Hallan:
The wounds look like they could have been done by an apothecary.

"The Storm Warden chapter makes their home in the Calixis Sector, Black Templars, Tigers Argent, Charnel Guard and The Iron Hands/Sons of Medusa all have history in the sector. " The Watch Captain says as he looks around the room.

"Another reason we this day is needed Brother Tellemachus. It is good to have a reminder of what we fight for. Orendel's Tomb is not as glorious as Terra, but the Shrine Worlds are a site to behold. Anyways, one last thing I forgot. The general population is ignorant to the Deathwatch and we like to keep it that way. You will all be introduced as Astartes and it will be left at that. Doubtful any citizen will question you further, most have never even seen an Astartes let alone have any concept of the various chapters. 1d100 ⇒ 31 The Watch Captain has a discerning eye for detail and catches some minor issues. He continues to speak...
"Small things, like your chapter focus, can be with you so long as you do not seek to display them. The people of Orendel's Tomb simply know you are the holy warriors that championed for mankind during the Angevin Crusade. You are to play the part today and remember what it means to be the Emperor's Chosen. Remember your primarch's teachings and today will go smoothly. Soon we will be bringing justice to his enemies, but today we fight for the hearts and minds of those that are more susceptible to corruption. Show them that there is an alternative to the dark promises of the warp." Watch Captain Enoch grimaces as he speaks the last part, then looks over the Kill-Team with pride and offers the hand of the Aquilla.
"You look good Brothers. Today will be a day to be remembered.

Scrutiny Challenging +0:
When the Watch Captain speaks of the "promises of the warp" you sense something in his voice that suggests he knows something of these promises.

It is a few hours before you are about to land and make your entrance for the Ceremony when the Watch Captain asks to see everyone in their Robes for a quick inspection.

Brother Elyas, we are to wear Black Robes of the Ordo Xenos, not chapter trappings. He says as he eyes the Dark Angel in his White Robes.

He spot checks the robes and the master-craft bolters to make sure they look pristine.

"Ok, when you receive your purity seal from the High Lady, just bow your head slightly and say 'By the Emperor's hand.' Brother Leon, hide your cybernetics best you can, I know it is not easy." He says as he points to his noisy bionic leg.

Once he is certain everyone has passed inspection he leads the team to an Aquilla lander.

Watch Captain Enoch gives the symbol of the aquilla and listens to Brother Thedius. "I do not understand what you mean as far as what Inquisitors are capable of. It sounds like he did a fine job. If you are asking about the heresy of the Gaolists Astropaths, that is history now, but it was something tolerated for too long I agree. As far as how much I knew, well we all have our secrets don't we. I have worked with many chapters in my time with the Deathwatch, which is longer than most being a black shield. I have worked with chapters that willingly invite possession for belief it makes them stronger, and some that eat the flesh of every living thing they kill for hope of strength. There was a time when I would have thought them heretics, but now, now I am not so sure. He takes a moment to let his words be heard then continues...

"The warp is not as easily defined as we would like it to be. Sure to be tainted by it is heresy, but do we not rely on it for travel? For communication? Do we not create mutants to better adapt themselves to its use in our navigators and astropaths? Perhaps you should talk to Inquisitor Van Vuygens. He has opened my eyes to the Greater Evils we must face. You should focus on those."

Ok Time for new Mission. Report in !

Not long after you return on the ship, Watch Captain Enoch calls a meeting in his office.

"So you got the Lord Inquisitor back safely, that is good." He pauses and looks over everyone. "BUT, I also hear there has been some infighting amongst you. This is inappropriate behavior for an Astartes! While we travel to Orendel's Tomb I want you to think about your actions." You have your cohesion reduced by 2 until you have proven to the Watch Captain you can work as an effective team. There will be lots of opportunity in the next mission to do that.

"Well rest assured, when we get to Orendel's Tomb there will be none of that because I am going down to the surface with you. We are to be presenting the Sarcophagus of the Unknown Hero to the High Lady Sarah Bernard, Canoness-Preceptor of the Order of the Ebon Hand. We will be receiving honors as well, purity seals from the High Lady herself. We will be wearing traditional Astartes Robes, if you do not own one, report to the quartermaster. No power-armor is to be worn during this mission. Our ancient brothers are to be carrying the Sarcophagus. That should dissuade any would-be ganger from attempting anything foolish, but Orendel's Tomb and all of the Shrine Worlds are kept under strict martial law by the Sister hood and the Imperial Guard. I do not anticipate any lawlessness. Now the Lord Inquisitor wishes to speak with you all."

The Watch Captain speaks into a vox caster "Let him in."

Right, get your gear and get to the Aquilla transport and wait for the Lord Inquisitor. All you need to worry about is that he is alive when this is over, got it? The Watch Captain orders with an edge of anger.

That's enough Marine! You know enough to do your job, that is all you need to know! Watch Captain Enoch's voice carries so heavy in the silent room that many of the adepts cringe in fright.

Lord Inquisitor Gathrix adds I apologize Brother Thedius, there are some aspects to this mission that are...political, but rest assured I would not put your lives in undue danger. As far as the Sister and me, well as we mentioned before there is a history between the Sisters and the Gaolist Astropaths, and we do not want to bring anymore tension to an already tense situation. This of course does not sit well with Sister Vesta, as she is one of my most trusted agents, and she feels she should be going down there with me. Know that there are aspects to this that I do not even know. I am not an Astropath, their ways are secret to even me, so we have representatives from the Aleene family to assist us in that matter. I am not an adept, and the official forms of the administratum that are required for such a transition are unknown to me, so we will be bringing adepts from the administratum to assist us. Everyone does their part, please save your anger Master Astartes for the heretics on the planet below, there is no shortage of them I assure you.

Scrutiny Hard-20:
When the Lord Inquisitor speaks Sister Vesta's name, you can hear something in his voice that conveys more than just professional admiration. He seems to look at Zelra a lot during this speech, and she looks at him with the eyes of a lover. You have the suspicion based on this and the events at dinner that there is a bizarre love triangle at work here, something that is foreign to an Astartes.

You take a less subtle approach Brother Thedius, but from an Assualt Marine I should expect no less.

You did not miss it, good questions.

"As far as hostiles, Hredrin is a very populated Hive World and the Hive gangs are causing an uprising. As mentioned in our first meeting, all around the Calixis sector this is happening at an alarming rate. It is believed the Tyrant Star is the cause of the increase, or at the very least the fervor behind those that believe in its existence. He looks at the Lord Inquisitor, I can not disclose at this time, what manner of assistance was requested, but rest assured it is a worthy mission.

Lord Inquisitor Gathrix adds The Gaolist Astropaths have...older techniques. We are going to upgrade their systems that is all you need to know. Sister Vesta smiles cruelly.

Lucian Vartas:
With a standard 6 man squad it is recommended you have a forward scout, two close protection front, and two close protection rear, with your sergeant or commander with next to the individual you are protecting. [= -- = -]If that picture helps, - one to right most is forward scout, -- is the sergeant and Inquisitor, = is the close protections.

"Ok brothers, I want this detail tight. Stay with the Lord Inquisitor at all times. The Arbites and Col. Folken's men will be holding a cordon around the Temple Astropathica that should keep the scum at bay. The Sisters will remain on ship for this mission, the members of the Gaolist Astropaths and the Sisterhood have...history that might complicate things." The Watch Captain chooses his words carefully and gives a sideways glance to Sister Vesta who is wearing a sneer that could put the fear of the God Emperor into the hardest of hive-ganger.

Primary Objective Insure Lord Inquisitor Gathrix's safety

Requisition for the team is 60

This mission has the potential to yield a good amount of renown. It will be lighter on the xp though.

You return on the ship and are ordered to enter decontamination. As you are in decon, you see the servitors that aided in securing the sarcophagus in the decon area. They do not look well. You can see through the glass of the decon room that a large warhead is being loaded into a drop-pod. After only a few mins you are cleared from decon and can enter the ship, the servitors leave also, but into the drop-pod with the device. They served the imperium well, but no saving them. We are going to use them to initiate the exterminates device, no sense risking Astartes lives. Come, we have much to discuss.

The Watch Captain walks with you to his office. You can see the drop pod reach the planet. A few moments later the planet lights up like a sun. The internal vox turns on and a very evangelical priest begins a enthusiastic eulogy.

+* By his light the sinners are purged, praise be the God Emperor and his holy soldiers! Praise to the martyred souls that gave their lives in his service! Cleansed by fire, this world is now pure! Praise the God Emperor!*+

Praise the fallen and the God Emperor The Watch Captain says solemnly as he stops to look out a stained glass window depicting an Astartes decapitating a daemon. He quickens his pace and his cybernetic leg squeals loudly as it changes gears. Our work has just begun brothers. Follow me.
I will post the next mission late tonight, possibly after midnight MST, but will try sooner. Spend your xp before you report into the next mission.
