Agreed, let's check this level first.

Lucian keeps his eyes open for threats as the Kill-Team moves deeper into the complex.

"Brothers, I hear the sounds of machinery below us. It could be what is powering this station. It might be that we could gain an advantage over our enemies should we find the generator."

Defensive Doctrine to deduce the a common tactic should we face a rear assualt in such tight conditions.
Defensive Doctrine (50): 1d100 ⇒ 85

"Although I would like us to continue, I cannot see another way to defend ourselves should we be assualted as you say Brother Arkhos."

Valerio notices the Mounted Turret and tries to determine if there is some malfunction that is causing it to be powered down even though he can hear other machinery running.

"Hold Brothers, I must determine the status of this machine. I would not let us be caught unawares by such a noticeable emplacement simply for the sake of ignorance. We may also be able to convince it's Machine Spirit to help our cause."

I'm rolling Awarness to search the machine for any obvious malfucntions, or like, a power button. I'm rolling Tech-Use with the Combi-Tool, +10 bonus from a FP, and a +10 from the Electo-Graph to see if I can convince it's Machine Spirit (assuming it can be automated) to recognize The Kill Team as Friends and Beasthouse as Foes.

Brother Leon:
Looking at the turret you realize it is not getting any power. You recall hearing that sound and it is likely this facility is being run on an emergency generator and only minimal systems are operational. If this is intentional or due to a lack of resources you are not sure. For your Defense roll When clearing a building of this size, it is important to set up a secure and hold position every so often when the area opens up or if you believe you are about to be attacked, setting up overwatch positions and bounding when you need to move.

Male Black Shield Librarian 4

I believe now Lutha and I should be entering the complex

Drawing his force sword holding it at the ready, he points a bolt pistol forward. His wounds sealing up well

To Arkhos
"Entering complex now, we should catch up soon"
To Hallen
" Brother Hallen, I'd rather you take point. Seeing as im in this state. I will take rear-guard. Scanning for movement."

"Yes" nodded the Lamenter, checking his weapon for a third time since they had left the medical tents "That would be best until we can fall in with the rest of team."

Brother Tellemachus:
You do not see any movement. You feel a familiar presence probing through the warp, it is the feral mind of a Phyrr Cat somewhere in the compound. The layers of floors between you make it difficult to sense where it is coming from.

Male Crimson Fists Techmarine

Since it is obviously un-powered is the FP returned to me? I'm fine if it's not, I just need to know for record keeping.

Valerio frowns, "Hmmm. It appears that this turret is not powered. I would theorize that Beasthouse is running this facility only on the backup power supply, which only has the capacity to run a minute amount of systems."

He looks back down the stairs before turning to Brother Arkhos.
"Although I am not certain if this is due to lack of resources or not, I am convinced that just below us are the only power systems that the Beasthouse has the capacity to use; I also understand the importance of clearing these levels in order to complete our objectives. It is up to you Brother-Commander."

He pauses a moment before shrugging his massive shoulders, his Servo-Arm whirring quietly. "Either way I would advise that we move slowly and with purpose as we make our way through this facility. It is most certainly rife with danger. We should move as a unit in groups of 2 as the others cover our movements, hold should we come to an open and unknown expanse, and fall to cover and hold if we feel threatened. I will keep an eye on my Auger Array, however it is limited to a 50m radius."

Valerio reloads his Combi-Flamer, readying himself for confrontation.

Maintaining his vigilant watch over the rear of their entry, Tellemachus flinches suddenly as if being hit by some invisible force

To Hallen
"I sense more of these psychic hunting creatures running amok in these complex. I feel it, Brother. It is moving closer.."

Tellemachus:
By focusing on the feeling you believe it is about 100m below. Possibly 10th floor or lower. You sense some other warp presences, also feral in nature. Possibly more creatures with limiters.

Dark Archive

Male Human Dungeon Master

I am going to assume you go into the second floor at this point. I want to move things along, .

The second floor is full of panels and control consoles. Most are powered down. There is a light flashing next to what looks like some sort of radar device.

Lutha grunts an affirmative but says nothing else as the pair reach the stairs heading downwards. He searched his mind for memories of the last two weeks, he was sure someone had mentioned something on how to best fight the native creatures of the Death World during their travel.

Forbidden Lore: Xenos (52): 1d100 ⇒ 24

I'm rolling hopefully to identify some weakness of the Phyrr cat. I think it's pretty important so I'm throwing in a Fate Point for +10

Dark Archive

Male Human Dungeon Master

Brother Lutha:
The Phyrr cat's great ability is possibly its greatest weakness. It was bread to seek out psykers and they themselves have warp abilities, but when in proximity of a psyker or one that possesses such ability they go in a frenzy and will seek to attack only that individual no matter how great a threat might be around them or how injured they are. In the recent past you have engaged a bio-enhanced Phyrr cat that seemed to heighten its already incredible agility. Other than its predictability to attack psykers you can not think of a weakness. As far as silent killers go, the Phyrr Cat has few equals. The ancient sisterhood bred them well.

"Slow is Smooth and Smooth is Fast" says Arkhos in response to Brother Tellemchus.

"Then let us clear this floor. says Arkhos to Valerio as he approaches the Radar Device looking thing and begins try and operate it.

You are able to pick up readings from the Pious Immolation There does not seem to be any other ships in the area around Phyrr currently. Next to the radar is another control panel that seems recently installed. The tech does not match that of the rest of the facility.

As they reach the second floor landing Lutha quickly addresses Tellemachus before they enter the main room:

"Should the cat decide to show itself you would be wise to focus on guarding yourself Librarian, especially in your own wounded state. It will harrow you alone in a fight, leaving it open to the rest of us for as long as you can weather the assault."

He then goes over some quick pointers on how to best defend oneself against a giant, genetically modified, psychic jungle-cat.

Tactics: Defensive Doctrine (40): 1d100 ⇒ 33

I apologize if I'm feeding you redundant skills Tellemachus, I can't tell if you have Defensive Doctrine.

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

Following the rest of the Kill-Team, Lucian sees the room full of controls and decides to stand watch with his plasma cannon.

Brother Arkhos, are you sure you should be attempting to use those controls? Perhaps we should leave them for Valerio, he is better equipped to deal with their machine spirits.

Dark Archive

Male Human Dungeon Master

Brother Arkhos:
The machine is used to monitor the creature cages. You see how to turn it on. The pict recorder shows the cages have been opened and several servitor corpses are ripped apart.

Male Crimson Fists Techmarine

"It would appear as though your appeasement of the machine spirit was more than sufficient Brother-Commander."

"They have released the beasts out of their cages, be wary brother, we might be facing some more cats around the compound" as anger is evident in Arkhos voice.

Vox link to Tellemachus and Lutha "Be careful, they have released the Xeno beast they were keeping looked, we are in the second floor, but about to move on" as Arkhos gives his brothers to move on the moment Valerio attempts to speak to the machine spirits to see if he can gather more intel or a way to use hat servitors are left to our advantage.

Following Hallen, Tellemachus aims his bolt pistol covering their rear.

"Brother Hallen, do you see anything up ahead?"

Are these floors all sub-floors? The cat is supposed to be below us, but also on the tenth floor while we are all on the second. Also, I think at this point Tellemachus and I have caught up to the main group on the second floor.

Lutha shakes his head at the question but motions towards the doorway "Go, the rest of the kill-team should be inside. I'll stay here and keep an eye on the stairway just in case." The tactical-marine then settles onto one knee, partially blocking the entrance to the rest of the second floor with his massive frame, ensuring that nothing could go in or out without his notice

After you secure the second floor, Brother Leon begins to get some pings on his auspex. Unfortunately the many layers of metals and machinery are causing the machine spirits some difficulty in providing accurate locations, but there is movement about five floors below aprox 50meteres. The shapes do not look human.

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

We should press on brothers. The longer we dawdle, the more prepared the heretics below become.

Lucian hefts his plasma cannon, and moves toward the top of the stairway, peering down towards the lower levels of the complex.

"There is no place where the Emperor's light will not reach, and no place they can hide for the headsman has come to collect" as Arkhos gives the order to move out to the next floor.

As the team begins to move to the next level another alarm goes off. A new blimp shows up on the Radar.

"Brothers, a traitor's battle barge has just arrived in the system. You will need to activate the ancient surface defenses if they still exist. The Pious Immolation is out gunned. You are the only hope." Watch Captain Enoch calls to the team via vox relay.

"This is Col. Folken, we have forces of chaos inbound. Will have to break the cordon and fall back to the compound to mount a defensive."

Brother Arkhos/Leon:
You know that the ancient Skitarii defenses do exist, but like much of the complex they are unpowered. You will need to turn on the emergency generators on the bottom level to activate them.

"To the bottom level, we must cut through all opposition and activate the emergency generators" as Arkhos sense of urgency is evident and expect them all to move as fast as possible.

Dark Archive

Awareness Brother Arkhos: 1d100 ⇒ 5 Brother Arkhos sees a hasty rigged demo charge just below the second flight of stairs as he starts to move out and warns the Kill-Team with a hand signal.

Do we need demolitions to disarm it or is it so hastily rigged that we can just cut a tripwire or something?

Dark Archive

Male Human Dungeon Master

You need demolitions to do it safely lets say.

"Colonel, we are heading towards the main generator right now. Once you have made your way to the compound we could use your assistance securing the remaining floors. Have a demolitions team on standby, we have located at least one rigged trap so far and there will likely be more."

Male Black Shield Librarian 4

Hastily moving as ordered, Tellemachus still maintains his "other eye" on his hunter. Wielding his Baleflamer one-handed he advances with the team on the first trap.

Ultramarine Devastator (Rank 7), Deathwatch Keeper

Does anyone have the expertise to disable this device? Brother Leon?

The arrival of Traitor Legion forces in the system raises Lucian's ire.

Not only must we deal with the Beasthouse degenerates, the forces of Chaos dare to rear their heads in this system!

Lutha pushes past Arkhos and heads directly towards the explosive. A quick glance reveals some exposed wires.

Untrained Demolitions (40): 1d100 ⇒ 77

He reaches for one of the wires but hesitates

Spending a FP to reroll

"Brother Leon, what color are wires for power typically?" Once he gets his answer he yanks the appropriate cord from the bomb.

Untrained Demolitions (40): 1d100 ⇒ 13

Male Crimson Fists Techmarine

Valerio moves to the front with Lutha and looks over the device. "Commonly they are Red" He answers off-handedly, turning to answer Brother Vartas over his shoulder, "Although I do not possess the knowledge I'm sure Brother Hallan and myself can - oh." He gets cut short as he notices Lutha tearing violently at a seemingly random wire in the device.

Dark Archive

Male Human Dungeon Master

By the Grace of the God Emperor Brother Lutha is able to disarm the heretics demolition charge.

As you race down flights of stairs, Brother Tellemachus senses an all too familiar feeling. A pride of Phyrr cats are approaching rapidly up the stairs. He knows he is their target.

Lucian's exclamation is cut short as Brother Hallan pulls a wire out of the detonator apparently at random. When the Kill-Team isn't immolated then crushed by the collapsing building, Lucian lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

Hearing Tellemachus' warning, Lucian braces his plasma cannon, channels fuel from his backpack into the weapon, and prepares to fight.

Brother Tellemachus:
Make a Willpower test with any bonus vs warp or psyker tests. If you make it with 2 degress of success nothing happens. If you pass with only one degree take a -10 to future willpower tests during this encounter. If you fail the test, you are effectively 1 psy rating lower when generating powers for 1d3 ⇒ 3 rounds.

Phyrr cats are blinking through the warp closing the distance. They will be in melee with Brother Tellemachus by end of round.

Lutha chokes his grip on his weapon, wrapping his finger around the secondary trigger tied to the bolters integrated flamer. Leveling his aim at the charging cats he fires, releasing a hellish torrent of holy Promethium that filled the tight confines of the stairwell.
