I wonder if there's going to be a reference to Realm of the Fellnight Queen in here at all?

I sense there's going to be a whole lot of battle oracles in the near future.

Yes, demons and devils are still in the game (several of each are in the Monster Core) and they still exhibit the same behaviors and proclivities they always have.

As a side note, Charon probably doesn't have the power to stop Urgathoa or Zyphus from living there even if he wasn't benefiting from it somehow. Abbadon is at a dearth of full gods, particularly compared to the good aligned planes, so having some muscle to act as a deterrent is prudent.

The concept of all demiplanes being "located" in the Astral Plane is D&D. That's not Pathifnder lore. Demiplanes aren't really located "anywhere"; that's what makes them other planes in the first place. The "demi" bit arises from them being smaller in scope.

The Create Demiplane ritual (and the 1e spell before it) both state that the demiplane created exists in either the Astral or Ethereal plane. Planar Adventures also reinforces this with its descriptions of the Astral and Ethereal Planes. Is the ritual/spell the exception to that rule, or is there a lore change that I missed?

Is the Sarzari Library detailed at all in this?

The Sluagh are an example of an undead fey.

I would be ecstatic were this to happen, but agree that it is distressingly unlikely outside of perhaps an ap or something set in Minkai.

I have fond memories of my chaokineticist necromancer.

Nerdy nitpick, are we certain Sorshen and Xanderghul are, in fact, the most powerful wizards in the setting? Nex is still around, presumably, and we've never really seen what Geb is capable of, either. IIRC it's also been hinted that the version of TB we've gotten stats for is him after he's taken a serious beating and not fully recovered, much like Xanderghul's statblock.

I'd have also included Baba Yaga, who CR-wise blows everyone else out of the water, but she's expressly a witch rather than a wizard.
Largely yes. We know their CRs from 1e.
We have statblocks for Xin, Nex, and Geb?

No, but Nex and Geb are close, and since we know Geb is level 23 then I highly doubt Nex would be much higher.

Xin is a bigger question mark, but he's also dead so I'm not sure how that's relevant for the question at hand.

There's also this, which while is not technically canon, it lines up with lore.

Is the heirloom in addition to starting money/equipment or replacing it?

Interested in this. I have a character somewhat built out, will need to update him for Ancestral Paragon.

Base chassis is a human wood kineticist. Will be a fairly tanky character, and depending on party comp I'll either build him as a healing/damage mitigation tank (with help from champion MC) or an aoe buff/debuff tank (with help from wizard MC). Level 9 plan is to of course get whichever one I didn't start with, but that's closer to the end of the adventure and new info might change that plan.

Out of combat will have crafting (including alchemical crafting) as his main downtime thing, and is at least trained in almost all skills, so can put a lot of work in with Aid and Cooperative Nature, as well as whatever skill checks might be required from all the rituals mentioned in the Player's Guide.

Will have the Close Ties background, with his close tie being Jubei (to explain his wizard training). Could also swing Yun Mong-Un or Mountain Summit Grass if Jubei doesn't work out for whatever reason.

Who specifically wrote the spellbooks of Rul Thaven?

Seems to me like a religion check would make more sense than a performance check.

Soul Warden was a 1e prestige class that was quite literally a Nexian anti-undead spellcaster that manipulated positive energy.

(To be fair, they were ostensibly a single group originally, and there’s no info on how widespread the practice was)

I played an elven barbarian (dragon)/oracle (flames) through Fists of the Ruby Phoenix. Somewhat similar to your goblin build. 90% of the spells I cast were Blink Charge and Incendiary Aura.

Random question that I'll spoiler just in case.

Spoiler:
In 1e Uniilas were incorporeal, and now in 2e that seems to not be the case. Is this a retcon, correcting an error in 1e, or an error with 2e?

Seconding this very hard. I would love to get a huge expansion on spirits, both undead and not.

I enjoyed reanimator. Just requires a bit more prep to be smooth with it. Not done lich, but I've heard it's slightly underwhelming.

Interested in this.

I've been playing pathfinder since the original playtest in 2008. I have only played in one 2e game, but it was Brianiac's Fists of the Ruby Phoenix. I played Esh, an elven rage prophet (barb mc oracle).

I will almost always be able to post once or twice on weekdays, but will only rarely post on the weekends (I don't own a computer, and so only have phone access on the weekends).

I will probably use the character I made for Quest for the Frozen Flame, a human Fervor witch of Sarenrae/Sister Cinder. Focuses mostly on support/healing with some fire blasting (has oracle dedication for access to Fire Ray and Incendiary Aura, and sorcerer dedication for Dangerous Sorcery). Interestingly it also is at least trained in every skill (with Master in Survival and Religion). Rebuilding it with free archetype shouldn't be problematic. Leaning towards Horizon Walker, but might go with Blessed One. Probably won't lock it down until final party is determined in case there's something particularly synergistic.

Being alternately cursed and then blessed by a deity, it would not be surprising that fate would be familiar with this character. It's been 1.5-2 years since the events of Quest for the Frozen Flame, so plenty of time to have met with the other characters, and with his divine magic and skill at both survival and religion, it makes sense for him to have met them as a wandering preacher/holy man.

The Lords of Rust has a write-up on her.

Quintessence is essentially outsider matter, so the opposite of quintessence is probably just anti-quintessence.

My only request would be to have an appendix in the back that lists the adventure/scenario being referenced to.

Is there any good pathfinder fanfiction floating around anywhere? I've read a couple of Campaign Journals on here, but I prefer more of a novel format rather than entries. A lot of the stuff on AO3 is sex stuff that's... not to my taste. Fanfiction.net doesn't have much, and much of that is either incomplete or not actually involving Golarion in any way.

I don't mind crossover either, though I'd prefer it be set in Golarion.

I've read all the Tales novels and webfiction, I've read the comics, and I've even read through most of the adventure paths. Just looking to see if there's anything that can scratch that itch.

The Measure and Chain is described as being encyclopedic in length and detail, I can't imagine that they would ever be able to publish such a thing, though perhaps they might have snippets.

25speedforseaweedleshy wrote:
if ancestor magic require soul of actual ancient to be trapped in material world

That’s not what I’m suggesting. My proposition was that the souls get judged as normal, but their judgement involves them going to some communal area (a “room” in the Spire, a demiplane in the Astral/Ethereal, a shared dreamscape in the Dimension of Dreams, or something along those lines) where they do not become outsiders or petitioners, but rather keep their original soul and memories, with the restriction that they aren’t able to act outside of that area unless called upon by a shaman.

25speedforseaweedleshy wrote:

wouldn't most soul reincarnate and ancestor magic run on the memory left behind be a more elegant lore about soul

My personal preference would still be that ancestor worship involve the actual souls, rather than just the Akashic copy/Astral memory of a soul. Worshipping (and more importantly getting power from) a memory just doesn’t seem as satisfying to me. Preferences vary of course though, so I am curious to see how they handle it.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I’d absolutely love for shaman lore to include info on how ancestral spirits/worship work, and preferably in a way that doesn’t depend on deities.

My current headcanon until actual lore comes out is that the shared practices/beliefs of a group allow a room to be created in the Spire that judged souls from that group can enter in, retaining their memories and forms, but preventing them from leaving unless specifically called by a shaman (as opposed to normal outsiders, who usually lose their memories but can more or less act freely as they are able).

I might suggest Erecura. Hell adjacent while still not being Asmodean. Is all about surviving dangerous people/places, and helping or at least allowing others to do the same. LN, but tends towards good rather than evil (allows LG followers, doesn’t allow LE).

I’d welcome either theory, but especially that latter one! The Forsaken seem so cool.

Shadows at Sundown revealed that Zon-Kuthon destroyed the big strigoi nation in the shadow plane. My current headcanon is that after he was released from his prison, he went on a big conquest of the shadow plane to remove anybody that could significantly threaten him, which included the strigoi and the forsaken.

In the original, Savram was Sharvaros' human son, and now Savram is Sharvaros' dhampir daughter. Is this a retcon, and if so, how does it interact with Sharvaros' backstory (specifically involving Amele, who is presumably Savram's mother)?

EDIT: To clarify, I'm trying to determine if Amele is actually Savram's mother, and if so, whether she's a vampire or not.
