Is there any way a non-fighter character (with 8 str but mucho dx, 18+, rogue skill boosts to athletics and a way of getting a trip weapon through Gnome Weapon Familiarity - Kukri - and then boosting that weapon) will ever match a flat out fighter with 18 str as a trip-fighter build?

Is it pointless/ineffective to attempt try and build a tripper without maxing out the strength for athletics?

Is multiclassing in Fighter the only way to access Attack of Opportunity?

(Use of Ineffective in effect!)

there is a discussion on the rules section if "skill rolls with the Attack trait are attacks", the majority, backed by a playtest dev insight that "yes, you do use dex for tripping finesse weapons" believes that the answer is "yes".

in that case, a rogue will be as good as a fighter in tripping, since Skill proficiency has nothing to do with weapon proficiency and everyone gets expert/master/legendary at the same time.

Thank you for the swift reply.

Will that be legal soon? Or will it be enough that it's on the forum as -intended as- legal?

why you're asking me when a faq/errata will be out? how would i know lol?

as for it being legal or not, better talk it with your gm, some people will see it one way others another, if it's for pfs, then i don't have a clue since i don't play pfs

True. Thank you for pointing out that that line of questioning exists at least.

Do small creatures get a size adjustment to AC/etc. or is that not a thing anymore?

Steven Schopmeyer wrote:
Aid characters will receive a boon, in the style of other similar scenarios. Their numbers will be recorded on the chronicle and copies should be included with the aid characters.

So no xp?

(I have two characters on 33xp and am waiting to take one on Eyes Of The Ten. If they pick up xp as an Aid character that plan is scuppered.)

Do Aid characters receive xp or is it only the character that you have designated as your main character?

While heading into Hobocon for my -1 character's crowning moment of hitting 33 xp I got to thinking on what I would write. I was hungover and tired but figured that "Baggio Burgamasco, first gnome of his name, Bardiche polemaster, counterfeit mage, urban barbarian, and Exchange Tycoon (twice) has made the grade" was too bland.

So instead I felt that this was more apt to announce Baggio's arrival:

He walked into the tavern, like he was walking onto a yacht,
His fake 'tache strategically lop-side-ed, it's colour was apricot.

He had one eye on the mirror, as he watched himself gnome by,
And all the kings dreamed that they'd be his partner, BIG business partner, and

He's so vain,
He thinks the Eyes Of Ten is about him!
He's so vain, (SO VAIN!)
He thinks the Eyes Of Ten is about him!
About him, about him!

He talks like Jose Mour-i-n-ho, but he looks like Sean Dyche!
That makes him a Ginger Gnome-i-n-ho, a polemaster with a Bar-diche!

He's where he should be all the time,
And when he's not it's a crime,
And when all the enemies they attack him,
He's got mad combat reflexes and

He's so vain,
He thinks the Eyes Of Ten is about him,
And the Exchange (the Exchange!),
He thinks they're all talking about him,
about him, it's all about him, about him ...

(But then the mission went awry. There was an emergency teleport and to keep the peace the Pathfinder society have told allies that the group was killed. Baggio is now his brother "Roberto" and has had to ditch his fake 'tache and grow his hair out. He also has to tone down his personality lest those who are meant to think he's dead cop on. He is a 12th level gnome that has been told that there is a whole chunk of the world that he's not allowed go into. Imagine what that does to a gnome like Bagg-uh "Roberto". He was vexed for at least 5 minutes!)

HalfElf Inquisitor and Zen Archer, T. Kolodziejczak (Defender of Right! Scourge of Slavery! Archer for the Oppressed!), has won many victories in the name of Justice, Liberty, the destruction of all undead.

While having accomplished much on behalf of Liberty's Edge he knows that evil never sleeps and so he must remain ever-vigilant and answer any call that the Pathfinder Society issues. His time to retire to the Verduran forest has not yet come.

His bow is mighty, his arrows fly true, and speed of his strikes has been remarked upon across all of Andoran. He stands ready, a true Seeker for Justice.

I guess I had better play as many 1-5 (season 10) at slow progression as I can until the author of the scenario resurfaces with a scroll in the chronicle sheet of another game.

:(

And hopefully I can find some 1-5s running before players transfer over to PFS2.

Simple, right?

Nah. Looks like I'll simply have to fork up the cash.
Oh well.

Thanks for your help folks.

There are two scenarios that have it and both are too high level for you to benefit from that part of the boon any time soon.

Uh oh. I was worried that that could be the case.

Could you please tell me what their numbers are anyway? This nasty bind kicks in on 16xp. Maybe it won't be so painful.
:(

The cost isn't the same actually. It specifically states that it will only cost me 150gp to get out of this bind if there's a scroll of teleport on one of my character's chronicle sheets.
Otherwise tis a hefty 1,125gp.

Hence the request.

Hi,
I need a wee bit of guidance to get a dragon debt off my 4th lvl character's back.

Without giving away spoilers I need to find a PFS game that has a scroll of teleport on the chronicle sheet, or fork over 1,125gp (which is big money at 4th lvl). If I don't comply my character will lose 1 prestige point per game ...which I think you'll agree is something to be avoided.

Can someone please point me towards scenarios with a scroll of teleport in the chronicle sheet?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply.

If a player with levels in Urban Barbarian gets 6 levels of Anger Inquisition Inquisitor do they get Divine Anger rage levels in the Controlled Rage of the Urban rager or normal rage? Can you choose the former? Do you now have to keep track of 2 different rage pools?

Alas tis one ki spent = one effect.

However if you burn 1 ki at 8th lvl your chosen bow will do your monkpunch* damage per arrow. So 1d10. Not a horn bow 2d6 but works on any Bow. Any time they take away your bow ...pick up any other and it does 1d10. Burn another ki and it's an extra attack in a flurry. Chuck in another for emergency +4AC. In one free burn turn they activate. If you have the lvls.

These are all contextual but Orc Hornbows are no-nos in PFS so having an emergency 1d10 bow can help. Rangers/Druids have better spells but this works in a squeeze.

*MonkPuncher should be in the next Community Movie. (JOKE!)

Some little bits and pieces:

If you take the Justice Domain you get a +4 to confirm crits that is based on your Wis mod ... so that's 4 or 5 (or 6) times a day (and it works lovely with Perfect Strike) on bows that do x3 damage on crits.

Divine Favour and the half orc Sacred Tattoo go very well with the trait Fate's Favoured (+1 luck = +2 saves, +2/+2 Divine favour, compensates for having chosen two classes without full BAB).

Pick up the trait Magical knack and by 4th lvl Inquis your Divine Favour boost is +3/+3.
10 levels of Inquis gets you access to 4th lvl spells = Quickened spells = Quickened Divine Favour = +lots/lots from a swift action casting of Divine Favour. Suddenly not having full BAB isn't really a problem.

You have to keep track of multiple swift action options but it's a small bit of management of when to activate Judgements and when to Quickened cast. Manage your Free/Swift actions properly and you are rocking.

Quickened Divine Favour plus cast Spiritual Weapon (Long bow) and you are a storm of arrows that can have bane in there too along with Judgements ... You are the rolling rumble of doom dice to your enemies ... if you pick one single enemy and have the Clustered shots feat, and use your perfect strike with flurry ... :) ;)

Shield of Faith also goes up in AC bonuses by caster lvl so if you get caught up close with baddies your 4 lvls of Monk gets you Ki (which means an extra attack in a flurry) for a +4 emergency AC ... the 4 levels of Monk also get a +1 to AC (and +4 on all saves) so you can throw a serious emergency bump into your AC with a 1st level spell and a Ki point. It's not perfect but it will last long enough for you to withdraw or pincushion your opponent.

Btw Inquisitor gets See Invisibility as a 2nd lvl spell.
That spell is gold when your enemies are trying to pull a fast one.

I guess that my basic advice is get 4 lvls in both classes minimum. Then tailor what you take after that to suit whether you want loads of attacks from flurry or access to the Bane Inquis class feature as your game needs.
With 4 lvls in each your saves are rocking, you have knowledges, skills, tracking, orisons for detecting stuff, you're a walking Lie Detector and have a small bump to intimidate to compensate for dumping charisma.
Go 4/4 and then go with the flow of the game after that.

If you have a group of 4 actors that love acting their characters (think of it as some kind of ...role....play ...and not stat crunching) then this is a five or six hour game, & 10/10.

We didn't Fistfull of Dollars or Yojimbo the scenario. We didn't kick in the Romeo and Juliet formula.

But we wanted to. Ok. I wanted to. Badly.

We stuck to the mission.

However hard it was not to cut loose and Sandbox.
Great game. Not enough time. And we hadn't the right skills for the job. (Not that we couldn't think of work-arounds.)

Thanks for the reply.

So my question is simply: how skill point thirsty is the Dark Archive faction?

Am I shooting myself in the figurative foot by playing a Maxed-out at 4 skill points per level character?

Int 8. Wis 12. Dx 12. Con 15. Str 16. Cha 14.
(Think Vinnie Jones as a Halforc Destined bloodline Bloodrager with Fate's fave + Librarian traits. And Power attack with two-handed weapons.)

Is it workable beyond the flavour of having the most intimidating first level librarian in Absalom? (+8 to "Ssssshush" rolls to stop people talking at lvl 1!)

Are 4 skill points per level enough to enjoy playing a Dark Archive faction member?

Extra Ki?

And maps with a X.

How many Elephants have been banned?
;)

Can you use a reach weapon?
Can you invest enough into it to get it enchanted with Fortuitous? (If one AoO hits you get a second at -5, once per round.)

Pathfinder doesn't include sports in their place settings. They build societies that are sportless which is probably a reflection on their worldview.

Fair enough.

Anyway I'm just randomly throwing this out there, can Munster fans be allowed to play this race of beastmen?

I don't know if this will make sense to anyone outside of Ireland but I'm asking anyway.

Can ye muster up these Munster Monsters for me?

Flurry of Blows: Monk poly attack.
Furry Bows: Zen archer monk poly attack.

Lock in: after-hours drinking in a pub.
Lock out: 6 first level characters can't progress into a certain area of the dungeon because no one can open locked doors.

*Doubles
not dour led

Silly autocorrects

If you get the Fate's Favoured trait and pick Divine favor for one of your spells that's +2/+2 for 1 combat buff.
If you take a half orc with luck bonus to resistance you are laughing as that dour led too.

The Justice inquisition grants a +4 to confirm crits ...based on wisdom + lvl which is savage when using a bow.
I played a 2/2 zen archer/inquisitor in a module and it worked out very well for me.

BretI wrote:

You put points into linguistics in order to learn languages.

You can only mark boxes on one sheet at a time, and in general only one box per session. If you can mark some of the goals off along with another goal, it is specifically listed on the sheet.

What I've done for this goal is marked it when I couldn't achieve any of the other goals that session. Do it first on the sheet with the most goals. If you can always mark off one of the other goals, great! You are making as good of progress as you can and still have a reserved spot for when an adventure doesn't allow you to otherwise check a goal.

Thank you. Next level will be a humdinger so. 10% discounts and exploding dice :D

Ummm. Is leveling up the only way to learn more than 7 languages?

My character already speaks Dwarven, but next level I intend to pick up 2 more lingos (including one listed on the Season 8 Exchange faction card). So, do I get to tick boxes in both season 7 and season 8 cards because I have met the lingo prereqs on both?
I'll have 7 lingos and 2 of the named lingos - one from each season sheet?

But then I'll have spent skill points on getting to tick two boxes at the same time and that's still a no-no.

Or do I pick one and never ever get to pick the other?

I get that other tasks overlap as well, but figure it's easier to roleplay out of trouble more than once so that there can be many chances to tick more boxes ... but this is harder to duplicate across 2 different season faction cards. Or is it? (Am I missing something here?) Will I just have to pick one season to get the languages box tick and ignore the other?

What's the penalty in PFS when you stack mistakenly?

Went through a game on +20 and not +19 on Disable Device....in the spirit of honesty what's the penalty?

The penalty is to buy your next GM a beer.

He owes me money. Not going to happen.

I misshtacked an unshtackable.
Gas thing is ....I was positive that I had nailed all the commonsense stuff. However I tagged a cracked ioun stone into it and therein lies the rub.

I have a tonne of weird honesty guilt.

Thanks!

Can I buy something from the chronicle sheet of this game in 3 games time? Or more?

And how long is too long to wait to buy?

Thank you. That sorts me out.

Can an Inquisitor take two Inquisitions like other classes can take 2 archetypes?

Edit: if they don't clash.

Rogue eh?

My Gnome is a 2nd lvl Counterfeit mage. So far all he has are wands of Cure Light wounds, Endure Elements (too many jungle and Planet Hoth adventures have actually made it worth it) and leadblades.

Thing is ...he's also a 6th level polearm fighter so Leadblades works for him. Tis not everyone's pint of Dwarven stout but for the gnome that he is .... tis his. (2d6+13 damage, crits on a 19).

After this it's time for Protection from evil - for the will saves - and that's the lot. 4 wands and done.

In 2 levels time he gets a daily chosen wand that he gets to draw as a free action ...and works without a UMD check...as a standard action.
So other wands work for out of combat stuff - Leadblades for the no hassle casting and then walking up to the mob of baddies, giving it a bit of "come get some you lanky pants" and seeing if having 6 attacks of opportunity with a reach weapon (by that time 2d6+19 with crits at 17) has the minerals or not.

Others would go with Bull strength.
Some with shield.
Some with being Fantastic.
Or flying.

Pick all the out-of-combat fix wands you want, and then pick something flavoursome to your character: my gnome has a +4 chip on his shoulder about his small size. Leadblades and power attacking are his way of dealing.

So, if it's not too late...and your GM allows it ...and no one else can help ..and if you can find a mentor ..then maybe you can retrain as a Counterfeit Mage (dun de dun dun, dun dun dun ...)

Just retrain and go with the flavour.

Dwarven stout has been increased by 2 coppers!
What The Forge!
They doubled the price!
Doubled!
What the ForgeForge!
They've taxed dwarven craft beer!

And it is left to a Gnome to point this out?
Because wines are now the beverage of Dwarf choice?

For shame!
For shame!
For shame!

Used to be that Dwarfs gave a shozbot about their beer.

Clearly those days are gone ...because Dwarves are watery wine drinkers.
Perhaps Dwarven stout is now too heavy for Dwarf bellies.

SHEEPLE STOP!!!

Don't you see the real crime here?!?

What's wrong with ye?

Dwarven Stout has DOUBLED in price to 4 cp!!
DOUBLED!!

The game is ruined lads! Ruined! My dwarven-Culture-obsessed Gnome will be bankrupt in no time!!

Slippers and Jingasas, lads and ladies, be damned!
We're talking about BEER!

Aye, tis no small feat ;)

Thank you very much.

Squeezing 1 extra AC out of nowhere is quite a ...feat.
(Sorry. Couldn't resist the pun.)
Fanx again.

Hey, sorry if this is an old question but if ya have a character with a Mithrail breastplate do you qualify for Defender of the Society trait?
Mithrail makes it lighter ....but it's still a medium armour ...no? Yes?

If you take a fighter archetype that swaps out Armour training and bravery (like polearm fighter) does the sash still grant +4 levels worth of a boost to the swapped in class features?

Dedicated Voter Season 6, Star Voter Season 7

Saw an item that had the following:

Really enjoyed this one.
Very Dr. Who.

I can almost hear "Sorry to drink and dash but ...." as the character's catch phrase.

I love it but Tainted brew needs clarification.

Dedicated Voter Season 6, Star Voter Season 7

I got to 'fess up that I've been hitting the "Both Items" button ...a lot. And right now I seem to be in a(insert collective noun here) of magical gloves, fingerless gloves, gauntlets ... and while I haven't hit any mittens yet its probably only a matter of time :(

For extra Kensai AC:
Armor of the Pit
Your fiendish traits take the form of a protective scaly skin.
Prerequisite: Tiefling.

Benefit: You gain a +2 natural armor bonus.
Special: If you have the scaled skin racial trait, you instead gain resistance 5 to two of the following energy types that you don't have resistance to already: cold, electricity, and fire.

From the new races book so its legit.

The Kensai on page 54 gives by level 7 a modified version of the Fighter Training class ability, but nothing later replaces the normal Fighter Training the Magi get by level 10. Is this intended?

Yes.

They still get the ability, and in fact get it EARLIER than a normal magus. Making the ability happen earlier AND replacing it would be a little silly I'd think. The relevant point, though, is that the ability is not missing and therefore does not need to be replaced.

So the Kensai gets nothing at lvl 10? (except spell, and usual increases?)
