Hi there,
I am currently facing some doubts about the new modifies about paladin abilities.
Here the current scenario:
I am all set with my character, apart from lvl 10, 12 and 20 class feats.
I will be using a glaive, and what concerns me more is the blade of justice ability.
I find that perk not very useful, mostly because it is a power attack which only works with evil enemies.
I could convert the damage to good dmg and add the divine smite even to not evil character, but would be way more useful to use 2x strike instead.
What do you think?
Also, if instead decide to take blade of justice i will also take both radiant blade spirit and radiant blade master, which are probably not the best deal.
On the other hand I could take a lvl 9 sorc dedication and lvl 10 Basic spellcasting, lvl 12 expert spellcasting and lvl 20 master spellcasting. Arcane spellcasting because of haste, untill i will get the quickened weapon rune, and because of ring of wizardly, which will enhance my spells, allowing me to save a class feat for divine bredth.
I am 99% with this second build, but I just wanted to know your thoughts towards blade of justice in comparison to 2x strike.
Hi there,
Would be possible to use different shields from different specializations?
Like,
1) shield arcane cantrip + shield block
2) shield divine cantrip + shield block
3) shield occult cantrip + shield block
4) innate shield cantrip + shield block
Ps I also don't know if different spellcast from the same font count the same or not.
Like having a divine sorcerer and a Cleric dedication. The cantrips would be differents, right?
Hi there,
If a creatur, let's say a dragon, spend 2 actions to do a 3 attacks action and after the first hit gets knocked dow by a reaction with hammer/fail critical hit + critical specialization, what happens to the rest of his action?
Will he still be able to hit while lying down?
Will the rest of the attack cease?
Anything else?
Hi there,
Is the critical specialization meant to occour just for the type of weapon or to the weapon you infused your spirit blade into?
Let us say we have a sword and we infuso it with a rune of shifting.
If we turn it into a mace, will we be able to get the mace critical specialization on a critical hit?
I guess so since they gave the shifting rune, but it seems not entirely clear.
Hi there,
I was wondering if this could work correctly
Divine wall champion feat
Quote: Prerequisites You are wielding a shield.
You use your shield to harry your enemies, preventing them from stepping away from or around you. All spaces adjacent to you are difficult terrain for your enemies.
Using a buckler, whose hand will be used to wield a 2h weapon.
Reading the feat the only requirement is to wield a shield. So this should work, whether I am using it ( raise shield action ) or I am able to use it ( buckler with occupied hand ).
In both situations we are going to have a character not using his shield, and still being able to benefit from the feat.
Am I missing anything?
Hi there,
As the title says, are those weapon supposed to work regardless the enemy size?
Hi there,
Quote: Spontaneous Spellcaster Archetypes now grant one of your spells as a Signature Spell. To me is still not enough if compared to divine and book users spellcasters.
1 single signature spell and 8 ( or 14 if you have bredth ) spell known by lvl 20.
However, better than nothing.
What do you think?

Hi there,
I want to understand if I got this whole stuff in the correct way.
Correct these statements if needed
1) an enemy with 10 fire weakness takes 10 extra damage regardless the fire damage with which you hit them ( 1, 3 or 10 fire dmg )
2) an enemy with 10 fire resistance reduce any fire damage he takes by 10.
3) an ally under the champion reaction effect, so a xx all damage reduction, reduce anything by xx
So an attack which deal 20 piercing dmg, 10 fire dmg and 10 acid dmg will only deal 10 piercing dmg.
BONUS) what about a champion reaction under the effect oh a protection sphere, on an ally with some resistances?
Example:
Champion lvl 10 will use his reaction on an ally, for a 12 all dmg reduction.
The ally is also within the range of the protection sphere, which will reduce all dmg by 4.
The ally is also wearing a 5 fire resistance rune, and has the armor specialization, which gives him 2+1 (from rune) slashing dmg reduction.
Now, an enemy will deal 15 slashing dmg, 10 fire dmg and 5 acid damage on a single attack.
What would be the total dmg reduction?
What would be calculation order?
Hi there,
With an arane spellcasting dedication a character is allowed to use ring of wizardly, which drwstically increases his spells.
What is the counterpart for primal, occult and divine?
A lvl 12 character could have, let's say with bredth, could have, with a lvl 3 ring
2x lvl 1 spells
3x lvl 2 spells
3x lvl 3 spells
1x lvl 4 spell
The rest will have
2x lvl 1
2x lvl 2
1x lvl 3
1x lvl 4
The difference is neat.
I couldn't find anything, so I am considering giving variants for all spellcasting.
Hi there,
Is there any order when Lvling up?
Cana player take multitalented, Select a skill, then increase it to expert with the skill given by lvl 9?
Hi there,
Since blade of Justice takes any effects like it was a retributive strike, it is also elegible for a instrument of zeal critical effect, isn't it?
Hi there,
Would be possible to take the multitalented feat even if you don’t have a dedication?
Quote: You’ve learned to split your focus between multiple classes with ease. You gain a 2nd-level multiclass dedication feat (for more about multiclass archetypes, see page 219), even if you normally couldn’t take another dedication feat until you take more feats from your current archetype.
If you’re a half-elf, you don’t need to meet the feat’s ability score prerequisites.
The "even if" part doesn't state that you need to have a dedication, while the 2nd-lvl multiclass is just to forbid you to take let's say one of the new lost one lvl 4 dedication feat.
Am I correct?
Hi there,
Just wanted to know everybody's top 3.
I'll start
1) clarifications about shields and weapons.
2) dedication classes dc ( how to increase them ) and bard/sorc dedication modifies.
3) Alchemist.
What about you?
Hi there,
That would be the best way to support a fighter?
I thought about a bard + fighter composition.
First round
Bard: heroism on fighter + inspire competence on his next attack
Fighter: stride to get flat Foot ed by positioning + power attack/double slice.
That's it ( repeat inspire every turn ).
At lvl 20 would be
+20 lvl
+7 str
+8 prof
+3 potency
+3 heroism (status)
+4 aid (circumstance)
+2 flat footed
You will hit everything apart from Rolling 1, and you will have a 60% chance to critical hit on an ancient gold dragon.
Guess a spellcaster could give the dragon the clumsy condition, but since his Golden luck and high saves it could potentially br worthless.
Did I miss anything?
Maybe another party member with bard dedication could use his reaction to help him with his second attack, but for now I was considering just 2 characters.
Let us suppose we do have 2 reactions.
As a paladin, if an enemy within 15feets attacks an ally within 15 feets, I can use my reaction to protect the ally and strike the enemy.
If the enemy happens to die, can I use my reaction to use cleave ( from barbarian dedication )?
Quote: Cleave ReactionFeat 6
BarbarianRage
Source Core Rulebook pg. 90
Trigger Your melee Strike kills a creature or knocks it unconscious, and another foe is adjacent to that creature.
You swing clear through one foe and into another. Make a melee Strike against the second foe.
Also, since it is a reaction, there would be no map even if I use two of them in a row or the same turn, right?

Hi there,
We are currently playing age of ashes campaign, so no spoilers here ( I am just writing this to let you know the situation I am into ).
It is our first attempt with 2e but we are doing fine. The system looks quite good and more important, everything goes smooth with the 3 actions combat.
I am playing a Half orc Paladin, and I was looking into possibilities since we are now lvl 2.
My stats are
18
10
14
10
14
12
I had some issues because of the missing dex point, but now i can afford a heavy armor so , even if not a full plate, I am fine.
1) Currently I am playing spiked glove and shield, but since athletic manoveurs seems not the right choice if compared to pure dmg, i was considering alternatives.
At lvl 1 I took ranged reprisal, and my idea was to get a reach weapon to Cover the maximum dinstance for my Champion reaction.
A glaive, as my goddess's weapon, could be the right choice, but I was also considering the gnome flickermace.
Herr the first issue.
By lvl 8 I Plan to take advanced domain in order to use protective sphere.
That spell needs 1 sustain action, which brings to my first issue.
Considering that I will be mostly using my reaction for my champion's one, and not for a shield block, and the fact I plan to use always 1 action to sudati the sphere, using another action to raise shield will leave me just 1 roll to attack.
Could this be worth it?
Or would be better to have a better weapon in order to deal more dmg and attacks?
I know that I can decide not to raise the shield, especially if the enemies have low armor, but still I am not convinced.
Also, if I got it right, I won't be expert proficient in the flickermace mace if not by lvl 13, with the right feat. Isn't it?
2) second question. Divine ally. I can't decide what to take.
A shield seems not worth it, because I won't be using my reaction on me most or the time.
Divine blade could be nice, but only for thr first tier. I really find useless the progression because it gives me runes, and not perks. Also smite evil will require me to use an action, so it is out of my possibilities.
About Divine Steed, I am worrried I won't be able to use it, because of indoor fights. It also counter my ranged reprisal, so it would be a horse which just do nothing. Even if I could consider having a dps pet, but I am not sure if thr dm would allow me to do that.
Talking about Divine Steed, age of ashes sees many indoor stuff? Just think, if you happened to played it, would be a horse companion worth it? Just say Yes or no. Without explanation.
3) how could I use my class feats?
I currently have decided.
1) ranged reprisal
2) deity's domain
4)
6)
8) advanced deity's domain
10)
12) blade of justice
14) divine reflexes
16)
18) celestial form
20)
Thanks for reading, and please share your thoughts.
Hi there,
As the topic points out.
Enemy out of range but close enough to use ranged reprisal with a melee weapon.
I guess it is implicit that I and the horse can move, or else the paladin couldn't benefit from his own feat and specialization.
But not sure about it.

Hi there,
one of the feats that didn't convince me at all is the one which let your refocus 2 point every 10 minutes.
I am all for long days with few moments of rest, and because of this I think that a feat like this could be mandatory, and at the same time something which forbid a player to customize his character.
I mentioned the devote focus champion feat, but I know that every focus based class has his own counterpart.
However, my doubts are about the situation which could this create.
1) 1 single character with the feat could be at advantage or at disadvantage, depends how many time I give my party to rest, and how many time the party would like to rest.
2) on the other hand, with either everybody or nobody, It would probably be the same, apart from the fact that if all of then are going to take the feat, then they simply be 1 feat short.
That's why even though I'd like to use it, I feel that wouldn't be for the best.
I don't know if anybody else feels the same, but I am looking for suggestions.
Idk, like moving it to general feat, or baseline perk for every class. The latter will allow me to push them in a corner, and choose if they want to refocus or do something else in the 10 minutes they have.
Since both of them don't have a path, like the other classes, and since they are versatile classes, i was thinking about a specialization.
To put it simply, 3 choices could be made:
1) offensive > attack scaling like fighter
2) versatile > +1/+1 hibrid between a fighter and a champion/monk progression
3) defensive > defense scaling like a champ/monk
What do you think?
Ps: a fighter will still continue to get weapon critical specialization, but this won't affected its proficiency.
Pps: obviously, depends the path, master armor will be moved further, as for attack. Depends the path you chose.
How does that work?
Imagine a 2 characters adiacent.
1 wants to move away from the other.
If you strike, you Trigger a reaction.
If you step, you have to do it twice? Or the reach property just works on during a character turn?
They seem too good since they allow you to Cover more space, and eventually not to waste actions in movement like steps or strides.
If you also are a fighter, or have that dedication, you will be able to reach 15feet with a lunge.
I see that any attack of opportunity seems not to count towards adding / receiving map.
Is retributive strike somehow different?
If so, in a hypotetic scenario which sees a champion hitting using 2 actions out of 3, then he would have an opportunty attack with -10 map?
Seems kinda pointless, but can't find anything.
Also.the lvl 1 exact perk says you can share the opportunity attacks, but allies will have to take a -5. Which means that you don't have that penalty at all.
My doubt is that attack of opportunity states that it doesn't give map nor benefit from map penalty, while the reaction not.
But as said before, it would be nonsense to give others a better attack of opportunity than yours, whether it stacks with map.
I was thinking about changing from redeemer to paladin, while maintaining the same god, alignment.
How could this happen in terms of rules?
Can't find anything about champion.
Shelyn allows any good alignment so it is perfect.
Can a shield be used to perform a double slice move?
Like weapon+shield (modded shield, if you consider only the mod the weapon )
Hi there,
Given the current situation:
- Character with a forceful + swipe weapon
- Character with the swipe attack feat
- 2 enemies in range.
I will then roll
1d20 + my bonus + 1 circumstance bonus for both attacks.
So 1d20 + X+1 for my first target and 1d20 +X+1 for my second target.
I the second target will also get bonus dmg because the forceful trait, so more damage than the first target. Right?
Hi there,
https://2e.aonprd.com/Classes.aspx?ID=2
I read that in order to rage you need not to be already Raging or fatigued.
It doesn't mention anything about armors.
So eventually a barbarian could wear a heavy armor and rage?

Hi there,
I was wondering, in terms of damage efficiency, the possibility to alternate different attacks. Then I gOt stuck thinking about power attack.
Both fighters, champions and barbarians ( not sure about the other melee classes ) will benefit by using this feat.
A fighter will obviously be able to score more crits than other classes because of higher proficiency.
A barbarian and a champion will simply trade a second attack with 25%/35% chance of success for a single one with double the success. And maybe a chance to crit.
I don't know during the road to lvl 20, but an ancient gold dragon has AC 46
Which means that a barbarian or a champion will have 20+7+3+6= +36 bonus to hit. Which means no crit chance. And 1/2 chance to miss or hit.
Barbarian could trade armor to gain hit in the endgame ( I don't remember the feat lvl ), but here again we are facing the wall of put all into a single attack.
Even if 2 attacks, when they 2 both occour, would be better in terms of dmg.
Also we have to remember the furious focus feat, which let you consider a power attack as -5 instead of -10,with 2h weapons ofc.
So now we don't even have to worry about the second attack.
Personally I Hardly find good reasons to make different attacks, except maybe a lunge
, Which in my opinion is pretty good, and maybe something else i forgot.
Tl;dr we probably be using attack power the whole time.
Hi there,
How can I increase my rank for dedication classes dc?
I know that spellcasters requires you to pursue your spellcasting training from Basic to master, but what about other classes?
Like barbarian and fighter.

Hi there,
Soon our party will hit lvl 2, and I am currently split between a few possibilities.
I am playing a half orc redeemer champion, who worship shelyn as She finds herself in a similar situation with her Brother, and because of that she found hope in her.
I Plan to get both bard, polymath, and fighter dedication.
Here's now the question.
Could performance be a fair choice instead of diplomacy?
My Plan was to use my storitelling skills in order to make good impression on other people, and because of this showing them that even someone who committed a horrible crime could atone for his sins, and make a fresh start.
Now, I find that showing someone that there is hope is different from making a request, because it is something a person could achieve by experiencing forgiveness and merco, or simply by seeing a herald of hope.
To be Even more clear, I don't see myself making a negotiation with somebody to make him a better person. This because it is simply nonsense.
I let you go if you promise me not to Hurt anybody anymore.
It sucks, and it is even too pretentious as a request like "open the door for us and we wIll reward you 5 golds". It is utopic.
Given my goddess, I am mostly for performance.
On the other hand, diplomacy will allow me to make requests ( however, I Plan to have both diplomacy and performance trained by lvl 1 ).
Both can be used to get an income during downtimes, but diplomacy seems way better at it.
Some extra info:
My skills will be athletics, occultism and one between diplomacy and performance. So given the system I can't take both.
I won't be taking polymath versatility because not enough talents.
What do you think?
Any advice?
Hi there,
1) has the breath weapon a cd = barbarian cd?
2) what is the cd for the breath given by dragon transformation lvl 16 feat?
3) continuino by point 2, the talent says that when you hit lvl 18 the breath weapon will have cd 30, which means that every Monster will get a critical success against it by Rolling 2. What.
Is intended that you could have only had human as ancestor?
It is forbidden to have had a half elf or half orc as ancestor?
Are they halved?
The skill says equal to your lvl, without mentioning barbarian's lvl, +const.
Power attack.
Raisi shield.
End turn.
Can i use another Flourish move?
If so, does it reset again at the start of my turn?
Hi there,
I am trying to make a character with bard dedication, and I happened to find versatile signature feat.
My question is, when does a dedicated bard get his signature spell perk?
It seems that I will be able to chose the feat which enhances it by lvl 8, but still I am unable to figure out from where the base perk comes off.
Hi there,
title says everything.
If you are lvl 10 and are expert in a skill, which has -1 from a 8 score, and you use you assurance feat, what would be the outcome?
24 or 23?
Hi there,
I was checking how Lay on hand scales, and now I am wondering if I had missed something.
The problem is, a Lay on hand spell will heal about slightly less than 1/5 of my total hp, which is 330 hp, at lvl 19.
A heightened heal spell lvl 5, or even 4, will heal for the same amount.
Did i miss something?
Is that the skill scales in a stupid way?
Do I have to add Charisma mod?
I know that an empowered heal cost 2 actions instead of one and needs 1 free hand, but still if the max amount of heal is that low, i guess it wont be a good investement.
I say that because, even if it its true that having a higher pool of focus points at lower lvl could be useful, if the more we advance the less the scaling is effective, the it is not worth.
Unless ofc you take thr monk path to replace your heal with a 33% more effective one.
Hi there,
A full plate doesn't allow you to add dex, but what about a character with 8 dex and a full plate?
Does he get -1 or it doesn't count since he has no dex bonus?

Hi there,
I have almost complete the kind of path I am going to pursue, but I have some doubts about the Divine Ally.
I am a Champion ( redeemer ), and I am going to play as a frontline.
I have some doubts about my Divine Ally.
I guess I will take the Divine Blade Ally.
However, I am not sure about pursuing the whole Blade path.
What bother me is:
"Is a better enchantment worth 2 class talents?"
Personally, I am in love with the shifting rune ( which is available at lvl 3, which also unlocks the weapon critical specialization ).
I am planning to give 4 extra talents ( if needed ) and I was considering a shield as a second ally ( which has no requirements for the 20th talent ).
So here's 3 options:
FIRST
[Divine Ally (blade)]
- Smite Evil
- Radiant Blade Spirit
- Instrument of Zeal
- Radiant Blade Master
SECOND
[Divine Ally (blade)]
- Second Ally (Shield)
- Shield Paragon
- Extra talent
- Extra Talent
THIRD
[Divine Ally (blade)]
- Second Ally (Shield)
- 3 extra feats
( currently i will be multiclassing cleric, just because it fits perfectly with paladin class feat gaps, and lvl 2 and lvl 4 paladin class feats are outrageous in terms of utility ).
Share your thoughts with me ;)

Hi there,
Instrument of Zeal
Divine energy fills your weapon. Whenever you critically hit a foe with Smite Evil or a Retributive Strike, your attack adds an extra damage die, and the target is slowed 1 on its next turn.
Smite Evil
Your blade ally becomes an even more powerful tool against evildoers. Select one foe you can see. Until the start of your next turn, your Strikes with the weapon your blade ally inhabits against that foe deal an extra 4 good damage, increasing to 6 if you have master proficiency with this weapon.
If the foe attacks one of your allies, the duration extends to the end of that foe’s next turn. If the foe continues to attack your allies each turn, the duration continues to extend.
got 2 questions:
1) Reading the Instrument of Zeal talent, seems that Smite Evil is an attack. But if we read Smite Evil, it seems definitely a debuff/mark on an enemy.
How should I consider Smite Evil?
2) How should I treat the extra damage die? Since it occurs on a critical, and does not say anything ( like fatal or deadly ) is it supposed to be add to the damage before multiplying it? Or it is an extra die i must add after all the calculation?

Hi there,
1) I was looking into critical strikes and found myself lost regards what can be or not added during the total damage calculation.
Fatal and Deadly can't be multiplied, but have to be added at the end of the calculation.
Sneak attack is multiplied.
What about the other bonuses flat bonuses?
Divine Smite?
Barbarian Rage?
Weapon Specialization?
Picks' critical weapon specialization?
Or even better, is there a simple rule to understand what can or can't be added?
On 5th it was always "if your roll a dice, roll it twice" rule, but here I am not so sure.
2) Also, I was comparing Deadly and Fatal.
Or I did something wrong during the calculation, or seems that Deadly loses its role since Fatal exists.
Let us compare a Rapier and a Pick which both have the same base dmg dice.
rapier with greater rune of striking
Normal hit = 4d6+ STR
Critical hit = (4d6+STR)*2 +4d8
[16 ( 4 times 4 out of 6 ) + 7 ( from 24 str )]*2 + 20 ( 4 times 5 out of 8 ) = 66 DMG
pick with rune of greater striking
Normal hit = 4d6+ STR
Critical hit = (5d10+STR)*2 +10
[30/35 ( depends if you consider 5 times 6 or 7 out of 10 ) + 7 ( from 24 str )]*2 = 74 or 86. + 10 dmg from pick trait = 84 or 96
If you have to add the pick extra dmg before the calculation, it will be 94 or 106.
Am I missing anything or is this going to be world of picks?
A repair kit allows you to perform simple repairs while traveling. It contains a portable anvil, tongs, woodworking tools, a whetstone, and oils for conditioning leather and wood. You can use a repair kit to Repair items using the Crafting skill. A superb repair kit gives you a +1 item bonus to the check.
What does that mean?
That it can't be used to "craft" as a portable station?
That there are different ranks of repairs?
I just want to know what happens to a shield user who wants to repair his shield, regardless the lvl.
Being more specific, I am playing a Half Orc Champion ( -1 int ), trained in crafting.
I plan to hit legendary in order to craft magic items and have no problems with repair.
