Hi Everyone,

I've decided to take a long break from the boards. I'm not sure where this will lead and whether I'll come back. Too early to tell.

Thank you Losonti for putting this together. It was great to step into this wonderful universe, if only for a short while.

Please feel free to leave me in as an active player or remove me, as you see fit.

Kindly,

DW

Hi Everyone,

I've decided to take an extended break from the boards. I'm not yet sure where this will lead. I will recontact you if I restart this game.

I want to thank you very much for all these years of great fun creating this adventure. It has been quite a ride, but I need the break. I hope you understand.

All the very best,

DW

Thanks. No issues with what you mention. Thanks for asking.

Happy gaming,

DW

Especially in Zobeck.

And yes, it's been a while!

Welcome Voodoo Chili!

Same here, just managed back in. I'll work on finalizing my character. Going for rogue still, likely arcane trickster.

Standard array... 1st level... I honestly don't know what to do.

I know the feeling ;)

Tareth has a warlock and I'm going for rogue. This leaves either divine caster or melee. Is there one of those two you enjoy less? You mentioned earlier the combat maneuvers... (just trying to help.)

I would like to take on the Sneaky role. I'll work on a rogue, most likely, perhaps a bard, as they can sneak quite well too.

If anyone wants to take on that role and it's important to them, I am happy to discuss.

Actually, Tareth, you being set in stone would help me. One less option to consider ;)

From reading previous posts, it seems some of us are waiting for the others in order to fill in the gaps. That's great, but that also means we're all waiting for one another.

So I'll go ahead with a broad concept I have in mind, but that can be fitted into different classes.

I have in mind a Septime general wannabe that spent the last ten years in a Cantonal prison following a botched insurrection. I can go either with wizard, cleric, bard, rogue, fighter, even barbarian for this concept, and I'd be happy with whichever one of those classes.

Now, if I had to be the one to break the lock and state my preference in order to help others choose, then I would go with... (it's hard for me to figure this out!) Wizard! Second choice would be... Barbarian!

Ok, I'll need help. Others have strong preferences towards a class that they would like to put out there?

Supreme Being, feel free also to simply tell us not to care about it and that five Warlocks would be fine and to just play whatever we want ;)

Hi Scranford, I have a couple of ideas and I would like to hear your thoughts and those of my colleagues to help me decide. These ideas will likely further evolve as the group takes shape.

Also, what would help me is knowing whether we are to become 'straight adventurers,' meaning a group of people without a set goal except finding Fame and Fortune alongside Trouble, or citizens who find themselves caught in events or pursuing a Cause that lead them to seek Trouble for Some Greater Good.

** spoiler omitted **

I also have other ideas floating in my head that would work better for 'straight adventuring.'

I put up a description of St. Helba in the campaign info tab. I would lean towards a "Straight Group of Adventurers"... but it depends on what your group make-up is, and what you decide to do. The first adventure is kind of an urban / underground adventure.

Thanks for the clarifications.

So far we have a warlock, any other strong thoughts on classes? Do I worry too much?

Hi Scranford, I have a couple of ideas and I would like to hear your thoughts and those of my colleagues to help me decide. These ideas will likely further evolve as the group takes shape.

Also, what would help me is knowing whether we are to become 'straight adventurers,' meaning a group of people without a set goal except finding Fame and Fortune alongside Trouble, or citizens who find themselves caught in events or pursuing a Cause that lead them to seek Trouble for Some Greater Good.

Idea if Citizen Caught in Events:

The main idea I have is for a Zobeck Kobold that is involved in improving the Kobold condition in Zobeck. I have a few ideas around that basic idea:

The first is that he is a straight Kobold with either Bard, Artificer, or even Paladin for class levels.

The second is that he has been so successful in his activism that someone had him killed, but another party has conveniently arranged for his return as a Gearforged. Again, either Bard, Artificer or Paladin for class levels, but also Warlock perhaps, to represent the Patron (could be Helba even...).

I also have other ideas floating in my head that would work better for 'straight adventuring.'

For a heads up: I'm working on a Belter pilot, perhaps a tech, a romantico-philosophical spirit who sees her work as the thread that binds humankind together.

Choices so far:

Origin: Belt
Social Class: Middle
Background: Trade
Benefit of background: Focus: Intelligence (Technology)
Profession: Pilot
Drive: Caregiver

Likewise!

Cool. I'll be on the lookout for it.

Likewise. Looking forward to it.

I'm a big fan of the show and would be interested. I need to have a look at the system first though.

EDIT: I've read some of the materials and would be interested in joining.

Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Tareth, I'm really enjoying what you wrote so far!

I'm working on a character idea that will use the Moon Druid mechanics.

I'm interested! I will post a concept over the weekend.

Wow, part of me doesn't want to let go of that game :) I feel like the three of us were getting in the groove of working together and dealing with our antics.

Thank so much Tareth, I had a ton of fun in that game, thanks to your DMing in great part, and my companions' great RP as well.

All the best and hope we see each other in another game soon!

Timeskeeper, my best wishes of health, compassion, and temperance moving forward. As Tareth said so well, hard conversations...

He does.

Pavetta and Irovetti do not skip a beat and keep walking away, her hand resting on his arm, their little dog following and giving you a fierce look.

Thanks!

That makes sense. Thanks!

Okay, maybe we will see you next time!

I am a little confused. Is it Aeshuura or Greycastle that is running the game and the recruitment? Or perhaps you guys are running it together?

Still working on a character. I'll have more time to work on things on the weekend, but I'll post updates when I can.

I'll keep the rolls from the earlier post I made.

I'm working on a Sorcerer (Demigod), with the Vanished One Epic Path. I'm curious to see how that will gel into a character!

Ok, thanks for the clarification. It changes things a lot, as those two paths require to be outsiders, no?

The "Vanished One" is far from an outsider. In fact this character has as much to claim about being native as anyone alive today. Originally you were an outsider... as were almost all residents of Thylea, but you've been here longer than just about anybody.

The "Lost One" is from afar, and was designed to allow from input from other sources or settings. That's why there can be more than one of these. Allows you to bring in a "Warforged" from Eberron, or a Red Wizard of Thay, Sherlock Holmes or a Star explorer from Science Fiction.

Thanks, very useful!

I read a bit about the setting and I'm thinking old man and the sea cleric from the region. About to retire when he is called.

Supreme Being wrote:

Anybody interested in becoming a hero of legend? This campaign is different, as you're supposed to be prophesized hero's come to life to save the world. You MUST act "Heroic" to enjoy this game. Possibly interested in adding one to this crew if the right candidate comes along.

The candidate would have to choose one of the "Heroic Paths" that hasn't been played yet. We have (4) Stalwart hero's currently, and (2) Whom have left their fate open... so join.

Aristeides - "The Gifted One" (High Elf Wizard)
Coronus - "The Haunted One" (Centaur Cleric)
Lysander - "The Demi-God" (Human Fighter)
Mateo - "The Doomed" (Half Elf Rogue)

Paths already spoken for but no longer active.
"The Dragonslayer"
"The Cursed One"

Free preview is available online if you are interested.

Am I right in interpreting the comments about the paths to mean that only Lost One and Vanished One are available? I'm not clear whether Dragonslayer and Cursed One are also available.

Hi Scranford/Supreme Being,

I am interested. I'll go over the material and see if I can come up with an appropriate concept to submit. I declined the first time around as I had enough games running, but some of them have finished and I regretted not having submitted something. So it all falls into place perhaps.

Update: I'm thinking of a scammer who got scammed to go north and sell civilization to the natives, books mainly. He ends up lost for days and resorts to burning all but one book to survive.

Likely a bard, but it could also be an arcane trickster or a knowledge/arcana cleric perhaps as well.

I'm interested. I'll work on a concept and post updates to let you know where I am at.

I'm bowing out. I won't have time to put together an application I'm happy with.

Happy gaming.

Definitely curious about this. What I've read so far sounds quite interesting.

Destiny (Rolls):

Ancestry: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Orc.
Age: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) = 10 Adolescent, 8-12 years old.
Build: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4) = 7 Thin.
Appearance: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) = 11 Ugly.
Background: 1d20 ⇒ 5 You caught the rot and lost your nose and ears.
Personality: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2) = 7 You take care of yourself, take what you want, do what you want.
Profession 1: 1d6 ⇒ 61d20 ⇒ 11 Wilderness, Pioneer.
Profession 2: 1d6 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 21d20 ⇒ 18 (Same roll: rerolled) Common, Servant or Valet.
Lifestyle: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4) = 12 Getting by.
Interesting Thing: 1d6 ⇒ 51d20 ⇒ 4 A pair of spectacles that sometimes let you see through up to 1 inch of solid rock.
Personality Traits: 4d20 ⇒ (14, 2, 5, 9) = 30 (then pick one positive and one negative from the results) Forgiving, Deceitful.

I will work on those results to see if I can weave them into an interesting character.

Thank you so very much Brainiac, this was quite an amazing feat to go through a whole AP is such a short period of time! You did an amazing job of keeping our momentum forward and avoid us getting bogged down in sub-plots. I thought the adventure was quite entertaining and you did an amazing job of giving some space to character development amidst this chaos.

I don't have anything negative to report. You can't have it all is my perspective. If you want a more open game with lots of space for side-stuff, then it's not going to move along briskly, so it's a compromise and I was ok with it, as you handled the balancing act amazingly well.

Unrelated, I must admit still being confused how powerful Rogar's character was in comparison. As was mentioned, it remains a few-tricks pony, but those tricks... So I guess the one-shoting of so many boss encounters is the only thing that I wish had been different. That being said, I learned a lot about power-balance in parties, and we did a good job of not making a big deal of it.

Once again, many thanks to you, Brainiac, and to my dear colleagues, who made this an amazing experience. Let's hope we fight each others on the boards soon!

Great!

Wonderful news! Happy for you.

My best wishes of health to them and strength to you.

It happens. It happened to me. More than once. Take good care. Thanks for the great games and great characters!

Other option: The DM for the game has a tab for the campaign where he has a list of boxes for PCs and NPCs. You can ask him or her to unclick your name. That will remove it from your own Campaign tab.

Please note that it is unlikely that I will be able to put together an application for a character.

20 + 4d4 ⇒ 20 + (3, 3, 1, 2) = 29

Thanks for the clarification. I guess you could introduce more variability by going 6d8 instead of 8d6, but the expected value remains 27, so you're as likely to see a bump as to see a drop.

A sure way to give a bump is to go with 30 points. That's more direct, but there is no variability anymore.

Perhaps a constant value plus a variable value might be what you're looking for? For example 16+3d8? The expectation for this is 29.5, or 16+4d6?

Just throwing ideas around.

Do you mean that the 8d8 gives you the point-buy directly? If so, then yes, that's a nice bump.
