Take the weekend off (always slow for me) and come back to 29 posts...will catchup

GM Infinity |

Also wanted to say thanks to everyone for tracking their hp. I usually do that too but its very helpful to have that off my to do list...its pretty easy to verify after you post in OOC.
After these tier 4 fights the encounters I run for my son's level 1 lizardfolk warlock are like Duplo™.

Finlogan |

Finlogan does but was dinosaur for many rounds absorbing damage.
Can a greater restoration cure those bugs?

GM Infinity |

The worm infestation can be cured by anything that cures disease (so a mere Lesser Restoration works). The Life Drain was what was requiring Greater Restoration.
Just remember, casting any spell of 5th or lower (base level) is affected by the Mythal and needs a wisdom 18 save (on a fail, hp is only restored 50%, or status cures only are suppressed for 1 hour then come back). Certain class abilities that do not have the 'magical' wording in their descriptor are exempt, such as Lay on Hands.

GM Infinity |

And yes, because of where Fin was located with respect to the bookshelves, he was effectively a wall on the eastern flank most of the fight. The elephant figurine did the same, but briefly.
But these are pretty nasty monsters to deal with just in general. The swarms come back every other round and explode every other round as a lair action. They have some frustrating immunities and resistances as well.
I'm surprised no one has tried Turn Undead yet though, its usually an 'I win' button against undead at least at tier 1 and 2 where I've seen it used. And again, everything here (walls, floors, ceilings, all creatures except PCs) detect as evil undead. PCs detect as neutral fiends. ;P

Adamantine armor up for grabs!
I can’t make use of it, as I’d lose AC by wearing armor. But I’m sure that someone can make good use of it

Lady Szasa |

I'm obviously not interested in it either.

![]() |

Could I have it be a shield? Not sure the mechanics of it, but an adamantine Shield sounds like it would be amazing.

GM Infinity |

Yes, but it would not have the crit proofing abilities of the armor. Instead it would crit objects like an adamantine weapon, rolled as an improvised weapon. A shield could also roll attacks as an improvised weapon against monsters with resistance to all but adamantine such as Iron Golems.
Also someone could make a weapon out of it.
But actually, reading up a bit more I'm going to take back what I said about enchanting the adamantine armor. Crawford intends to have adamantine armor count as magical (its crit proofing being nullified in antimagic fields for example) so I will go with that.
Not trying to be a dick, I just like sticking with Crawford for consistency and easy reference...especially with an unfamiliar tier, but always I don't want to change rules until I have a better handle on them and can judge from experience.

There is one obvious person who should take it ::Glances at Team Paladin::

Finlogan |

Ah Healing Spirit WAS broken. Cast a 2nd level spell and anyone who jumped through the Healing bonfire was healed for 1d6 per round for 10 rounds.
I write WAS, because evidently it was errata-ed a couple months ago. Healing Spirit (p. 157). The following text has been appended to the second paragraph: “The spirit can heal a number of times equal to 1 + your spellcasting ability modifier (minimum of twice). After healing that number of times, the spirit disappears.”
So for Fin, each can heal 6d6. And I would read that to 6d6 period distributed to up to 6 creatures. So not really nerfed, but unbroken.
Anyway, that will modify Fin's healing load out somehow.
cheers

Normally I'd agree...however Daryl's built around being hard to take out, and he's already wearing +2 Full plate, so it would actually make his AC worse...

![]() |

I’ll pass on the shield then. As Lindaer’s vorpal sword already ignores slashing resistance, so I don’t see the shield being used as a weapon.

GM Infinity |

Thanks Fin, so then you are casting at second level for 6d6 per spirit. Taking the first 6 of what was rolled:
hs1: 17
hs2: 20
hs3: 22
And I would read that to 6d6 period distributed to up to 6 creatures.
You could break it down and assign each separate d6 to someone, yes. It might be less of a headache to say Lindaer gets hs1, Szasa hs2, etc. Technically, its the healed persons choice since they must walk into the 5ft space to receive it. But just for less labor you might simply assign.
So who gets the hp?
Also, Lindaer, was the 8d8 your short rest HD rolls? Just want to make sure Mythal isn't affecting it.

![]() |

Yup, short rest rolls.

Finlogan |

I've lost track of my hit points. Don't mind sharing the healings, but Finlogan can take it all if anyone doesn't want some.
Since we're short resting, here are all my rolls to see how many dice Fin needs.
HD: 17d8 ⇒ (2, 8, 1, 6, 2, 5, 7, 2, 8, 4, 1, 1, 6, 1, 4, 8, 2) = 68
thanks

Fin needs 107 HP. He got 68 from those crappy short rest rolls +34 = 102 for his Con Mod, which I forgot. So, he could use one of the Healing Spirits. He'll take the first one of 17, so he would only need 16 HD for full.
Falko, Lindear and Szasa, please take one of the other two Healing Spirits of 20 and 22 HP.
If no one claims them, Fin will use them to offset his HD use.
cheers

Lady Szasa |

Normally I'd agree...however Daryl's built around being hard to take out, and he's already wearing +2 Full plate, so it would actually make his AC worse...
So make it light armor and wear it to sleep in, so you can't be assassinated by a rogue =)

Lady Szasa |

No worries. It's a wierd time to be alive. That kinda bleeds into stuff, sometimes without us noticing.

Finlogan |

I find the choice to open that door is against the instinct of self-preservation of my character. Meaning if Finlogan wants to live, he would leave. But most of adventuring goes against the instinct of self-preservation. What's the Worst That Could Happen? Character Creation!
The rod appears to be a Netherese immovable rod. The doors appear reinforced with positive divine magic, but appear to be weakest part of that barrier. But appearances can be deceiving.
cheers
EDIT
Have a game mechanics question. I'm thinking about casting Barkskin and shaping into Fire Elemental that has a normal AC of 13. Now, RAW I think it should work, i.e. give AC 16, but the combination fails the fluff the test. Thoughts?

GM Infinity |

Fin, re:barkskin/fire ele that's totally ok with me and the intent of the spell, imo. Its not actual combustible bark, but can be if you want to fluff it that way. Maybe the magic continuously regenerates the under layer of bark as your fire form consumes it...like a sunburn peeling.

Finlogan |

until someone takes an action to douse the fire, the creature takes 5 (1d10) fire damage at the start of each of its turns.
So, I think purple heals 1d10 of fire
cheers

GM Infinity |

Don't know how many times I swore I'd never do this, but guys I seriously need a break from the boards.
If it matters, theres lots of reasons: the lack of a daily routine with work being out (I think this is the main one), other hobbies calling my name (just purchased a new $1500 synthesizer for one), posts taking insanely long to write (I joined too many games during initial virus outbreak, updating all is taking like half the entire day XD).
If you don't hate my guts, I'm sure I will be back in a few months and we can pick this back up if you like...but right now its got to where I really dread coming here and just would rather be doing other things.

As said on the other one, take care of yourself. If you are in a position to come back in the future I’ll always enjoy being in your games.

Lady Szasa |

See my notice in the Midgard game.
Also, forgot to post this there, but would you please mark the games as inactive? It will really help.
Thanks again for all you have done and best wishes!

Finlogan |

I love your game Infinity. Take care of yourself and your family. Return soon. We'll miss you.
cheers

Oh man, way to drop a major season ending cliff hanger on us. ;)
[corny TV announcer voice]Will our heroes be able to defeat the emerging god of wormy death? Will Szasa ever give Falko the time of day? Will Tarn once again be unwittingly forced to touch Falko's thigh? Will Daryl learn the secrets of immortality from the stolen library book? Tune in next year to learn the answers and much more. Now we send you over to our zany summertime Gillgans Island marathon. All Gilligan, all the time![/corny TV announcer voice]
Seriously. Sorry to see you go, these are challenging times and I totally understand the need to take a break and recharge. Ping me if you decide to start this back up.
