Is there some sort of knowledge check I could attempt (poorly) to determine what's causing people to sing that? Is there a wedding going on?

Alaric, quieting his song, turns to the others. "Armorers' district?"

Alaric continues his song as the dorn-dergar spins to a maximum velocity. And with a flourish that belies his martial past, he lets loose!

Alaric, suddenly realizing that everyone is in fact hasted, moves up to his full extent and begins his dirge.

Raging song everyone!

Alaric moves up, grabbing the shard of Greed as he does so. "These discoveries... They will all be mine! Mine to bestow onto the Society! How DARE these creatures get in the way?

He readies himself as he commands Thurismund. "Go. Destroy the big ones."

Readying to cast Haste when Thurismund is in range to get himself and Thurismund and a majority of his allies. Thurismund will be in range at the end of his first move. So I've taken the liberty of taking two moves with Thurismund, except the second move is 60 ft.

Alaric nods as he ad-libs a song combining his experiences with the historical events he knows of. A mournful song, almost blasphemous in its lyrics.

Perform (Sing): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33

Alaric replies in Dwarven: "Future is much like present and past. Filled with blood, meat and bone. Death and destruction. Tribute to the strong. Tears for the weak." He pauses, trying to get a better sense as to who they are worshiping.

Two things; First Thurismund is going to try and heal ability damage.

Then we are going to regain two rounds of Raging Song.

Second: Because of my position as a backup GM, I'm going to be shutting my pie-hole.

Alaric, busy healing Thurismund of his wounds, does not pay much attention to such trivial things. Tiles, or the color thereof, are of little interest to him.

But soon the Pathfinders move on, and Alaric is left wondering why the dwarven woman touched him so. But once back in the cavern where Thurismund was ambushed, he listens in at the words spoken.

He frowns. The words are almost unintelligible to him. "Thurismund. What is said?"

I do not have darkvision.

To Alaric, there is nothing now but the thing in front of him. A metal man; a metal man whose halbard spins expertly in his hands, a smile on his face as he brings the axe down through the Nirmathi rebel's back. A boy, barely a man. "C'mon merc; plenty more killing to be done here!" he cackles.

Alaric shortens the reach on his weapon, and launches the heavy steel fist into the man's face.

As the cold-forged dwarven weapon collides with the automaton's face, Alaric's memory distorts the physical world.

Making an extra attack with the ectoplasmic manifestation as a swift.

damage: 2d6 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 3 + 4 = 13

Tendrils shape themselves out from the aether, and coalesce into a fist which attempts to punch the pseudo-golem in the gut. However, while humanoids have guts, clockwork creatures do not. The blow rings against the metal like a bell but without any ill-effects to the creature.

True: I'm choosing Ectoplasmic.

Alaric ceases his song, focusing on the embodiment of his rage. And calls it back within. He then takes a step back, pondering whether to shorten the reach of his weapon before deciding against it. Let it come to me.

Phantom is gone for now!

With another thought, portions of Thurismund overlap with the Iobarian, strengthening Alaric's armor.

Swift Action: Bonded Manifestation.

Yes, Alaric has the Phantom Ally feat which is essentially Boon Companion for phantoms. Otherwise your math is correct.

Alaric stands ready to pull Thurismund back; clearly, the hubris of his wrath has overcome sensible tactics.

On my next turn obviously. We'll also drop the song for a hot minute while we shorten the range of our weapon.

Singing his dirge, Alaric steps on up and brings his weapon down on the... Thing.

Alaric, still dazed by the recent events, pats down his beloved jewelry. Only to realize it's fine! He smiles, as an old grandmother would as he runs his fingers on the links of gold, silver and platinum. He then stops and sniffs, before turning around to note his acid-charred cape. Thurismund chuckles. "You foolish weakling. Your cloak is destroyed."

It is on that thought that Alaric notices the fireball roaring in his direction.

Not one to let old failings (especially if they do not affect his precious Iobarian jewelry) distract him, Alaric leaps out of the way.

Give me that sweet sweet, non-jewelry breaking fire damage. Alaric rubs it all over his body.

Narrowing his gaze, he commands, as one would direct a waiter at a party. "Thurismund. Destroy it."

He then rushes up to Agate, pulling out a wand. "You helped me. I help you. You tell us what is, yes?"

Alright, so insofar as Alaric's items worn, The breastplate is made of iron (Hardness 10) and has an enchantment bonus of +3 which bumps it up to 16. So it takes 3 points of damage, which is nowhere near enough to break the armor. However, all of the expensive jewelry on Alaric is now fairly slag-ish. Does it retain its value? Somewhat, but I'm not sure how much. What matters here though is that Alaric is now sickened (see the "Shards of Sin" chronicle sheet for playing/running Shattered Star book 1).

This is fine.

Alaric begins to hurl as his fine jewelry is ruined by the acid. Tears in his eyes, he attempts to escape the creature's grasp!

OK, I'll start looking at my prestige total.

Alaric begins to move away from the room, unable as he is to affect his fellow pathfinders stuck in the fog.

Alaric sweeps his dorn-dergar in a wide arc bringing it down upon the undead's head.

Weapon vs Blue: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 = 28

Alaric steps on in, looking at the various debris dispassionately, with only a vague concern for the dirt he might be getting on his boots. But then again, those boots were cheep. Nothing like the tasteful ornaments he bears upon himself.

"Is possible." He shrugs. "Is perhaps the demons' pleasure, Troi. They have the alien mind."

Alaric raises an eyebrow at the creature depicted in stone as he puts away the wand he was using to heal Thurismund.

Upon hearing Agate's recollection of what it is, he shrugs. "Immolate is not good for book" he comments as he recasts light yet again. "Thurismund, you go and grab book." And as the phantom complies, he mouthes an apology to Sindelle, sighing at the thought that once again his manifested anger is causing problems.

Pulling out a wand, Alaric attempts to cure his wounds.

Alaric, ignoring the duergar's comments, instead brings his dorn-dergar onto the one he and the leshy are now flanking.

The fist-shaped ball of cold iron smacks the duergar across the face, breaking the jaw and sending teeth flying as he continues to sing of the unknowing torment of the denizens of the carnival of Tears.

@GM: Raging song is as per the skald ability of the same name. It is mechanically separate from Aura of Fury. They do get a choice as to whether they want to tango to the rhythm of the song - i.e. accept its benefits. Aura of Fury appears to be untyped.

Alaric begins a dread song, one of loss and death on the fields of the Darkmoon Vale. Of the blood toll of the fey. And as he does so he begins to spin his weapon menacingly.

Standard to begin Raging Song, move to place Alaric on one side of this green duergar.

Alaric recovering from the immense, stunning amount of pain he has been subjected to not only accepts the healing given but begins to heal himself.

He looks around, as he begins to spin his weapon. "Unexpected. Now we to hurt."

Alaric muses upon the various bits and pieces he already knows and then listens intently at what the others have to add. But as the warning echoes through the large chamber he sighs melancholically. "And now the blood it must be spill." And with a fluidity of motion he reaches out to Thurismund and touches him, a spell upon his lips. The phantom's body shimmers and glints with the memory of steel.

Casting Mage armor.

Alaric replies smoothly in the guttural sounds of the abyss: "ฉันเข้าใจดี"

He shakes his head at Troi's question. "No. I will sing. You can chose to feel that anger of song. Or not. I also use power of Shatterd Star to give the power of Haste, but only one time."

So far so good! Keep up the synthax, I'm loving it."

Alaric shoots Thurismund a rather powerful stare, which makes the Phantom recoil and wither; perhaps with a little surprise. Looking to the others, he offers: "Excuses... Ahem. I mean, I apologetic... Apologize. Thurismund is mind of my mind. And he has much of my anger for me. He cannot be sorry. I am. Again. Apolo... I apologize. For him. And I looking... Look forward to work with you all."

Making his way up to the group of Pathfinders he has been assigned to by those responsible for the Jormundun expedition, a dark haired man of Iobarian descent steps in the center of the group, golden torcs and jewels aflame in the ambient light on his person. He looks at Agate, Loxx, Fetch and Troi with the calm confidence that you might expect from someone with a sense of entitlement.

"I am Alaric ir'Ganak. Late of Iobaria" he says with a strong accent. "I am the glad... Excuse me. I am glad to be here. We will pull... Many, yes; many riches from this place." He points to a feral, poorer looking version of himself, radiating red light as an aura of anger suffuses the air. "This is Thurismund, the echo of my great outrage. He does not like the fae. I have... Made, yes; made my peace with it."

At his side, a dwarven weapon made of cold iron hangs at his belt next to a single dark skymetal shard, and his unscuffed armor gleams along with his jewelry.

I take that back. I need to choose what Shard of Sin I am going to be under the effects of. If people want Haste and noone else can provide it, I will choose Greed, Otherwise I might be using the shard of Lust's initiative bonus.

Alaric and Thurismund begin running after the wayward pirate. Or perhaps it is more accurate to say that Thurismund, having snapped the neck of his first opponent then proceeds to run towards the fleeing pirate with a roar and garbled threats of bodily harm and Alaric follows so as to temper the phantom's anger.

The mournful song slowly begins to build up, as the dorn-dergar spins and lashes out at the pirate who wounded the phantom.

The ectoplasmic falchion spins in Thurismund's hands, as the pirate finds himself staring into the flat of the blade, knocking his teeth out.

Alaric lets his dwarven-made weapon dangle in front of him, spinning it slowly as he begins his low dirge.

"Why did you die

Why did you die at all...

It was a game,
Played by the fey,
To slaughter us at the Ball..."

Meanwhile, Thurismund lashes out.

I mean, I know that boxed text is necessary, but Thurismund wouldn't let her get through half of her first sentence before trying to split her head in two.

The cave grows noticeably colder as Thurismunds rage grows stronger. "SHE. DID. WHAT?" he screams, at the edge of apoplexy, ectoplasmic spittle flying from his mouth.

Alaric fitfully snaps out of the silence he has wrapped himself in as Thurismund shakes with rage. "Dead. So many dead. Again the fey ..." He begins to shiver uncontrollably, and begins to hum a strange carny tune as Thurismund begins tearing at the walls, seemingly anxious to find an opponent.

"WHERE ARE THE REST OF THEM? LET THEM COME! LET ME RIP THEM APART! SHOW YOURSELVES! FEY, FEY LOVERS... I WILL MUTILATE YOU EVEN AS YOU STAND BEFORE PHARASMA FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!"

Alaric nods in agreement with Ashara, as Thurismund roars and curses at the creature as it retreats. "COME BACK HERE FEY! COME BACK HERE AND LET FACE A REAL MAN! WHEN I AM DONE WITH YOU, YOUR SCREAMS WILL BE A REMINDER TO YOUR KIND OF WHAT WE DO TO YOURS!"

Before Fatham has the opportunity to issue his warning Thurismund begins stomping towards the bushes next to them. "COME OUT, WHATEVER YOU ARE he roars as he slams the flat of a ghostly blade against his insubstantial armor. "YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH PEOPLE? COME HERE SO I CAN SHOVE MY FIST UP YOUR A@# AND MAKE YOU MY NEW MEAT PUPPET."

Alaric coughs, embarrassed. "What is ettercap?"

Alaric pauses and looks to the wayang as they narrowly miss falling into a thorn bush.

"I is think... Excuses. I think you maybe need the help. I once was good at seek in nature."

With infinite patience, Alaric points out certain species of trees he is familiar with from his youth; certain vines and mushrooms. He explains how their growth gives some indication as to where one is, and how one can use them to guide themselves.

Alaric follows ponderously, gently spinning the head of the dorn-dergar as Thurismund follows, nostrils wide, snorting impatiently. "Let the damn fey-lovers come to us. LET THEM. I'll make them weep blood."

Somehow keeping up with the trail and their current position, Alaric speaks softly. "This is very much the like of forest of Verduran. Many trees. Many danger to have."

"With any luck there will also be dirty trickster fey" adds Thurismund, whose hold upon the instincts of old tell him much about their path.

Alaric nods in agreement. "Is to be better if we go while the sun is to be up" he adds as Thurismund glowers. "Many things to hide in dark."

Thurismund snarls, a bestial sound, before turning tail and moving to deal with the last spider. What kind of check will it be to get atop that crate? Climb check?

I think Devildoc has his hands full atm. I would rather we thank him for the time he spent trying to GM for us in the middle of a hectic time than put further pressure on him by having another game ticking in the back of his mind.
