![]() If two reactions (1 for two different player) are triggered from one event which occurs first? Example Includes a two sword and board players 1) is a Fighter using Shield block and 2) is a Champion with Shield of Reckoning
Who goes first? The player with the higher initiative? Is it up to the players to decide? ![]()
![]() Has anyone developed some handouts for groups transitioning to PF2? I ran across a document that was great for getting new players acclimated to PFS play. The document was called Chronicle #0 and had day job, fame=purchase limit, upgrading equipment and a host of other information. It was great for giving people something the could look at as a cheat sheet for players/GMs to have readily at hand. I'm doing an intro to PFS for PF2 this weekend and want to know what were some of the stumbling blocks had when the went from PF1 to PF2? we will be going over character creation, character options Xp, prestige, factions ect. What was a change that was trying to payers and what was trying for GMs? ![]()
![]() So as a player if I use the Shield Block reaction and my companion uses one of the Champion's Reactions at the same time to offer damage resistance to me which occurs first? Do I gain the resistance to damage from the Champion's Reaction then get to Shield Block the remaining damage or vice versa? The damage taken should be the same but the version above of Champion's Reaction then Shield Block reduces the wear on my shield. I apologize if this has been brought up before. Thanks in advance. ![]()
![]() I'm looking to have my GMing be less cluttered so I'm entertaining either using a Tablet or a Laptop to help me. For those that have moved beyond printing scenarios and NPC stats which have you found to be more useful? I will also undoubtedly look to get Hero Lab and stop using word/Excel for character sheets as well. I envision using the device for mostly Gming/reading PDFs and word doc, maybe some web browsing. I don't do any mobile gaming so that isn't a use I'm interested in. Also if you also have a recommendation in a device please list that as well. For product discussion I'm a PC user. Thanks a ton! ![]()
![]() I'm trying to get an idea on the utility of Shield Block from low levels on. I would imagine it being used frequently at low levels but I don't have the game experience to know at mid levels and on what function it plays in round to round combat.
Other question I have is how feasible is it to get an adamantine shield at earliest possible level. I would see this as a means to extend the life of using Shield Block. Are there other means of increasing a shields hardness/hp? Thanks in advance! ![]()
![]() Orc Knuckle Dagger Description.
Also what is meant by a blades jutting form each end? Is each end meaning the top and bottom, left and right? Is the last part of the line to mean it can also look like a Dagger/Katar combo(a vertical blade and a front facing horizontal blade? ![]()
![]() I am looking at a building a character but I'm wondering if anyone has done the analysis on what bonus I need from an attribute to make a skill competitive as it levels. For a Rogue what Dex is needed to make Acrobatics, Stealth and Thievery? Is a Dex of 16 needed? or is 14 sufficient? I assume the difference would be small do to Ability Boost at 5th level and beyond making up a lot of room between an starting score of 18 vs 16 but would a 14 fly as "good enough"? I'm asking because I am eyeing a Str based Ruffian and want to build build and compare to a Dex to dmg Thief build. ![]()
![]() This is a significant change form Quests form 1st edition. The quest has 1 trap, 1 combat encounter and 2 social encounters after the mission briefing. I was expecting several interconnected encounter in the vein of the more recent Quests. The encounters look well balanced. My concern is the scenario be very short but being that I am using it as a Demo that is a positive. There a couple of things to watch out for: When the party meets Norden Balentiir the GM is suppose to select 2 mistakes in his story to share with the group but on the trigger for the combat encounter it states if the party learns at least 2 flaws in his story his gives them a warning. I would run it by giving all the flaws in his cover story and see what they find. The considerable heartburn I have is the Infamy Point given for rushing past the guards at the dig site. The guard tells the party another Pathfinder group has been here over a month and in the last week have been cataloging the site. The mission briefing makes it clear party would have been the ones to do this work. Penalizing the party for being reasonably panicked and rushing to see what they could do to protect the sites integrity or confront the the pretenders is way out of line. I'm not talking about attacking the guards just rushing past them to investigate. Infamy- When a character expresses the intent to perform a wantonly evil or callously criminal action and you inform them that their action would be considered an evil action, if the character still persists in performing the action, apply a point of Infamy to the character. This sets troubling precedent for Pathfinder scenarios as as the above action is neither "wantonly evil or callously criminal action". If a Pathfinder is overly concerned with following every city guard orders lest they be three strikes away from permanent character retirment. ![]()
![]() I'm working on a Cavaliaer and needs some pointers. I am wanting to build a Level 2 Human Cavalier Honor Guard/Statagist, Order of the Dragon that covers cover social skills and knowledge nobility (for a soverieng court boon). I am looking for a support character that is still a decent melee damage dealer. This is the character so far.

I plan to take Combat reflexes at third level and have very little plotted out from there. I am unsure on what team work feat to take as I'm not convinced shake it off if a good choice. Also I need advice on the mount as I'm unsure how to build an effect AC. Thanks in advanced. ![]()
![]() I am making my -701 and am going with the above. I am a looking for advice on skills. I am confident I will perform well in combat but I am looking for suggestions on out of combat roles. I'm also at a loss for Theme and any archetypes. Thoughts i have is: a Bounty Hunter Steward Officer as a Space Cop, A Robotocist Data Jockey as a Combat Analyst and lastly a Mercenary or Icon (and Icon just so I can get discounts and say "I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite store on the citadel" mostly just that). Any suggestion on skills and themes would be appreciated. Build
Thanks in advance. ![]()
![]() Hi have been round and round on what my new Sovereign Court. I am looking to build a martial character with a good bonus to social skills: Bluff, Diplomacy and intimate. Also with Perception and Knowledge Nobility, (Knowledge Nobility is obtained from a boon to use on day jobs and to work on a boon the character received). I have two builds I am struggling to chose between. These are the build I am currently entertaining. 1 Human Focused Study Human Cavalier (Honor Guard/Strategist)
2 Focused Study Sliver Tongue Human Bloodrager (Urban Bloodrager or regular Bloodrager
Also I for what ever reason am fighting being a bard which would be able to accommodate all the above but isn't martial. Suggestions and critiques welcome. ![]()
![]() I have a wizard I am making and I and hitting Lv2 so I need to finalize the characters stats. My question is is having a Int of 20 worth the cost?
If I went with an Int of 18 where would I spend the points? Brining up the dumps stats? Buffing Dex or Con or is the stat array good to go as is? ![]()
![]() I am looking to use both of these feats. So if I'm attacked but missed I have the opportunity to feint as an immediate action from Swordplay Upset. Greater Feint says the target of a successful feint loses its Dex until before my next round in addition to my next attack. So what benefit do these feats gain from being paired up? ![]()
![]() Here are my concerns. Usually there are a couple of games for me to sign-up for at my local lodge. Each game includes the general description of the scenario. As a player I can get a fair amount of info from these, such as where the scenario will take place and upon occasion what types of enemies I might encounter. (Yes I know many scenarios contain twists or are misleading.) What can I take from these when prepping for the scenario? Can I purchase weather appropriate gear or protection against certain element? How about additional holy water/ potions of darkvision or purchase or memorize different spell? What should I not do? What is considered going to far, other then some of the cardinal rules like not reading the scenario and other similarly low things? Ultimately am I able to focus what I do with an eye to the scenarios coming up or do I go with general prep (standard gear/spells/ect) and add some random/just incase items? I don't want to cross any lines. I don't want to be "THAT GUY" nor do I want to be thought of as "THAT GUY" when it comes to game prep. ![]()
![]() I was reviewing my Lv 4 PFS URogue and I have 1 skill point I did not spend. I'm taking the Human FCB and can't take it at first level because I don't have Rogue Talent until second. So that leaves me with a single skill point to spend. My current skills are: Acrobatics, Bluff, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Intimate, Knowledge Local, Perception, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, Stealth. I was thinking of Swim or UMD. So what does 1 point do for me in swim or UMD? Other suggestions welcome! My character is Henric Carnes, this alias. ![]()
![]() I have looked at a post about what is expected of a pathfinder to be able to do, as in having means to over come swarms, flying, darkness ect. The question I have as I am going to applying gm credit to this character I will go from level 2 to level 4 and I need suggestions as to what to get for gear. I will have 15 Fame, 9 PP and about 6000GP to work with. I think I should be grabbing a Magic weapon, cloak or resistance and magic armor? So a +1 Rapier,(2320GP), +1 Darkwood Cloth Studded Leather(1770gp), +1 Cloak of Resistance (1000GP), for a total of 5090 spent with only 910GP left. Are these wise purchases? Is leaving my self that low in GP a good idea. This is my first PFS character so I am not sure what priority I should have on gear. Should I perhaps instead invest in a couple oils of magic weapon in stead of the +1 Rapier? Thanks in advance for the advice. ![]()
![]() So I have run a couple games for a 3-7 scenario and they are tied to this character.
Also I miscalculating the GP I spent on a chronicle so I lined thru incorrect amount and initialed it and wrote the correct amount (a practice I use professionally). What happened I wrote down a Ghost Salt as costing 20gp opposed to 200gp so my total was off by 180gp. All of this is listed on my sheet that details the items I purchased. So in correcting this error did I screw up? ![]()
![]() My Sovereign Court Rogue needs to choose between Knowledge Local or Nobility. He has no knowledges currently, he does have a decent modifier of Diplomacy and Bluff. Henric is second level and my intention is to use my 4th lvl stat boost to go into Intelligence. Which is going to be used more and which is be better for this faction? The character in question is this alias Henric Carnes. Thanks ![]()
![]() I have a question regarding the use of blanches in play. If I use a blanch is there for a lack of a better word expiration date or duration of the effect on the weapons coated? Can I coat arrows with the silver, adamantine or ghost salts and have them ready for when ever a need arises or do they have to be used during the scenario and can not be carried or for scenario to scenario? ![]()
![]() I am planning to make a PFS Unchained rogue and would like some feed back on a couple builds I am looking at. I have no experience with Society play so insights would be very welcome. Here we go! First is Human Circling Mongoose build.
Second is Focused Study Human Social Skill build.
Last is a cross between the two.
Suggestions are welcome, but before folks point out other class options I am set on playing an Unchained Rogue. Thanks in advanced. ![]()
![]() Hello Folks,
I need advice on going for upgrading items. If a settlement has the maximum gp value of say 16,000 gp, can a player purchase suit of armor up to 16k then have it upgrade for another 16k? If it restricted by spell casting services available in the settlement. How do folks deal with upgrading gear. If I have missed a pertinent rules section I welcome the community pointing it out so I can bring this to my players. Thanks in advanced. ![]()

![]() Hi all wanted to share my groups travel so far. The Party named the ther kingdon Patria and are barely a kingdom as per the rules and were feeling good about their their selves. The raised their first armies, 3 regular militias one each at Varnhold, Narlsdeep (capital city on the site of the Staglords keep) and at Lenarius's Landing (Fort Drelev, named after Party Sorcerer(Tatooed Sorcerer 13)). They particapated in the rushlight and won all competetions except for the Archery which was won by Villmar Koth by get a crit. The lumberjack copetetion was a cake walk for our Royal Assassin, Terrinion (cleric 13 of Gorum) he was able to destroy all logs. The boasting was close but the Leader of our kingdom, Smendrik Rogarvia the Bastard King of Patria (Human Bard 13)was able to best the competetion. The Midnight joust was close as we had no one trained in ride and so our General Wolf Blitzer(yes yes,the same name as the CCN anchor)(Figther Armored Master 13)was able to unseat Koth as koth rolled terribly to hit Wolf. The party was very taken with the King of Pitax, unfortunatley they had convinced to offer Quintessa Murray the postion of Grand Diplomat so this help to quicken Pitaxs attack against Patria. They decided to explore some other areas around Pitax, discovering Littletown was destroyed. the sent Irrovetti a sending informing him of this and he sent back the should look into the Thousand voices for the wyverns to delay them so his forces could get into postion to attack. the Wyverns were headed for Varn hold, the Troll army for Lenarius's Landing and the Pitax regiment to take undeffended Tatzlford. They recieved to sending informing the attacks on tatzlford and Lenarius's Landing from Jhod (Trreasurer) and Old Beldame (magisterer). Tatzlford was taken and slaughtered the entire populus sparing only the childern. Lenarius's Landing was able to deffeat the Trolls due to dffense of the city protecting them but gambled in a attacking outside the city walls to attack the trolls as they withdrew. they were able to wipe them out as the made a moral check and the trolls did not and routed and was crushed as they fled (the militia was at 3 hp and the trools at 1). The party is now rattled as there is a 2000 man army a day and half march form their kingdoms capital and they have ony a regular miltia in the city to deffend it currently. they are looking to hire kobold mercenaries and lookig to hire the centaurs to help. ![]()
![]() Hi I am adding a Magic Duel as part of the competetion to have a an event for the sorcerer in the group to particapate. I could use some help comming up with particapants for the event. From Pitax I am going to include Imeckus Stroon as he escpaed the part ant the end of Boold for Blood. So do you have some nice NPC's to included and good ideas as to how one could cheat durring the Duel. Thanks in advanced! ![]()
![]() I am having a problem determining how a surpise round works. this is the Senario 1:
Senario2:
Clarifcation on this would help. My party and I can't agree on how this is supposed to work and we all want to be on the same page. THANKS IN ADVANCED. ![]()
![]() Hello all first time poster here i have a question regarding the Pit Fiend entry. I was doing a side by side comarrison of the Moster Manual and Beastiary on several monsters and a odd thing came up. The pit Fiend in Bestiary has as a spell like ability of Quicked Fireball 3 times a day. It also has Quicked Spell like ability: fireball. Is the quickend Fireball redundent? doesn't the feat allow the pit fiend to use fireball (a at will ability) as a swift action every round? thanks ahead of time. |
