Switching factions boons

Is it Advantageous to switch boons to match the scenario's factions or to stay with a single faction?

Thematically it can be fun to always slot a boon associated with one of the scenario's factions. Go full-on Wayfinder when it's an exploratory mission or spend a lot of time promoting yourself on an Acquisitives mission.

Mechanically there is no specific advantage to matching yourself to the scenario's faction.

Long-term, it depends thematically on how you view your character: supremely dedicated to one cause or a bit of a dilettante? Mechanically you want to look at the faction boons available in the SFS RPG Guide. You may want to reach the capstone boon of one faction (so slot that one all the time) or may like the Tier 1 or 2 boons of several factions (so spread yourself around).

I think it can make a lot of sense to pick up at least one secondary faction for the Starship boon. It gives the table more options for how to customize the ship.

It is really easy to pick up Tier 1 in a faction, especially if your character has played in a scenario featuring that faction. Going for Tier 2 in two different factions requires as much reputation as going Tier 3 in one and Tier 1 in another. At that point, I think most would rather have the Tier 3. With Second Seekers (LE), you could even treat that Tier 1 as a Tier 2!
