However you can't tell if those are illusions or anything like that.
Sien has the wand of truesight that he could use if he suspected they were illusions. I don't think he would suspect that, though.
Ann Hilate
Ann's motto: When in doubt, just attack. So barring a better plan, she's all for the full-frontal assault.
What if Sien tries to sneak over and disable the bell? Steal the clapper, perhaps, or stuff it with a cloth. Ann can sneak over with him to buy him some time if the bird(s) notice.
Of course, all hell will break loose once we're seen. We should expect reinforcements from downstairs.
Thoughts?
Chi Sien
I'm guessing that disabling the bell at range would be a better option. It's probably designed to go off, even vs invisible opponents. He has arcane sense, so he should be able to detect if it's magic when he gets to 30'.

Sorry folks this weekend is Easter, I may or may not be able to post, worst thing I will be back on tuesday.
You don't suspect birds to be illusions, you saw one before, there was nothing hinting that there is only one of those.
I will replay to RK soon, I will not necessarily guide you one way or another, book itself leads you to clearing room by room like a good old dungeon crawl, only stating if players were able to deal with this threat some other way than grant them infiltration point. I am fine with you sneaking through and doing the assassination => as it sounds more 'natural'. You may want to bar the doors, or straight up try and block the passage some other way: force wall?

What do you want to learn? Weaknesses, Resistances, special attacks, anything else?
I want to know if they are spy birds - I will roll a recall check on Gameplay (spoilered of course)
Um. "Do they have scrying magic?"

Beloved Games and Fellow Gamers,
I am flying out early tomorrow to visit the West Coast of my country, staying for nearly two weeks, and back by the 1st of next month. The travel days will be especially long. My posting will most certainly slow somewhat, but I will do my best to engage when I can find a pocket here and there.
Cheers!
Ann Hilate
I will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen over the weekend for our Easter feast. Usually I can squeeze in some time each day to post, but feel free to bot Ann if necessary.

Sien is ready to initiate. He'll go invisible and just try to Spellstrike the alarm bell.
Ann Hilate
... Dang. These birds are no joke.
@GM Farol: Does the Wall of Force break the Grabbed condition on Sien? That will affect what Ann does on her turn.
Ann Hilate
They're Hooty, from Owl House!
Ann Hilate
What a pity I just used Crimson Shroud in the last fight. I doubt it's been an hour yet. Should've saved it for the big boss.
Ann Hilate
I'll give Ketsu-Kiba a chance to post before me. My +19 Deception has too great a risk for a crit failure to be worth trying.
GM Farol
Do you all think we could simply tell him the truth and scare him away?
Do we know if he is a fanatic? Or just a hired hand?
By the way he is dressed you suspect him to be Gorumite, so expect him to follow the edicts and anathema of the faith ;)
Edicts attain victory in fair combat, push your limits, wear armor in combat
Anathema kill prisoners or surrendering foes, prevent conflict through negotiation, win a battle through underhanded tactics or indirect magic
Ann Hilate
Ann's opinion: The target will be hard enough to defeat without others nipping at our heels. Better to be murder hobos on this mission. Out in the middle of nowhere like this, there's little chance of true innocents being collateral damage. All of these Gorumites would've helped their leader take over, which is what we've been sent to stop.

Oh snap - this might be Bladecaller’s room, and importantly, where the Bane ritual (-1 all our rolls) might be keyed. Two questions:
1) would Hammid be able to tell if this is so?
2) would Hammid know how much time we would need to disable the Bane ritual?

AD 1. Well it is the only single room that you have seen, it has better furniture, it has fishing equipment and is situated where you would put a sleeping room of a general. So yeah I think Moonlight would believe this to be the room
Ad 2. Well it is said to be consecrate ritual of lvl 7. that ended with critical success => lasts 10 years. So unless you want to cast your own consecrate ritual you would need to use Counteract rule

Is it possible to get a healing slot from Hammid to help top off Ann, if not, I can throw 1 more high level slot at it.
Hammid has (Divine Font ✝️ □□□☑☑) left.
My idea is to scrap by with alternative between-combat healing and save these big heals for in-fight near-full recoveries because monsters - and especially Bladecaller (whom we have to kill four time over!!!!) - hit hard.
Open to discussion on the issue.
=)
Feel free to dispel the ritual and the thing will begin ;)
It seemed a point of discussion whether or not we wanted to go with this plan, or leave it in place.
Got (only) one Rank 6 Dispel slotted, and happy to spend it here, or to save it. What do folks think?

This is what Dispel Magic was made for, no? :)
GM Farol
Just about the ritual that everyone is aware, The consecration gives believers +1 to all DC's and checks (+1 to attack, +1 to AC, +1 to saves, +1 to spell DC's), bladecaller as a priest of Gorum is a believer he will get this benefit.
All non-believers, or be precisely people against Gorum, like assasins, get -1 to their DC's and checks (-1 to attack, -1 to AC, -1 to saves, -1 to spell DC's).
So keeping the ritual as is, put you at -2 or +2 disadvantage (-1 to hit and +1 to his AC).
Just makign everyone aware ;)

What is our Hero Point situation?
I spent one to Counteract - am I out?
I saw that I am not tracking those, let me solve it today, but I think you should have 1.
You all started with 2, then I granted 1 to Sien and 1 to Ketsu, and there was at least few uses of hero points. Let me try to clear it out.
Chi Sien
Crap. I keep intending to caste Haste, only to forget when I actually sit down to post. I'll assume this fight lasts long enough so that doing it on Round 3 will be still a good use.

We have to kill him 4 times. You got time.
Peering through old notes, I notice we can Insult him (apparently he is sensitive) by "Ordulf’s arrogance can be used against him, particularly if someone challenges his bravery, compares him to a troll or a chicken, insults his skill at fishing, or likens him to a witch or national of Irrisen"
Also, I prepared a high-level Clear Mind spell, and left a note "for Urdulf" - anyone remember what that may have referred to?

It's certaintly possible he's got Terrified Retreat and you wanted it to remove fleeing?
Just a guess though.

Is Hammid able to tell if Ordulf can see him (and target him) while invisible?
(no explicit mention of "being able to see" in your posts - perhaps overlooked?)
Going to Heal Sien either way, just want to know if I have a couple more rounds of invisible buffing before I go on attack mode!

Hmm, I saw that you casted ivnisbility level 2, and I was under believe that it ends when you cast a spell, but I was mistaken it ends after a hostile action is performed.
So what would happen is, Moonlight vanishes, moves (did you sneak? to stay undetected?), casts a spell (that would change you from undetected to hidden unless you are casting a spell without verbal component or have a way to obscure it - silence or similar),
When hidden he can target you with a DC11 flat check, which he would do, so I shall roll it.
Feel free to poke holes in my logic.

Ann - you are Hasted - to get another Stride/Strike!
Oh my! That's a surprise!
We are staying up all night tonight to try and aid the little one in latching onto it's young mother (the other two doing well) - and keeping mama cat fed and petted and happy to keep her strength going!
