Welcome all! I am excited to GM this AP as I am a fan of dungeon crawls and seeing players' ingenuity. I am based in the EST so my posts will be sometimes in the day but mostly after 6:00 PM on weekdays. Talk among yourselves and try and finalize your characters and purchases. I will review the characters for correct skill calculations and feats. Feel free to use the Pathbuilder character builder to check your math and correct bonuses. Any questions, please let me know.
Hagrym |
Thanks, JD! So happy to be chosen. Like I said, please look over my sheet and be sure I’ve not screwed something up. This is all new territory for me!
Glad to be in another game with you, Lucendar!

Hello! My character sheet is up to date and finalized on my alias page. If you prefer looking at Pathbuilder, the link is right here.
Maclin "Mac" Stoneheart |
My character should be complete. I changed a few things:
1. Made him Death-Warden rather than Strong-blood -since it fits better with his intent to take the Ghost Hunter archetype.
2. Given this is a mega-dungeon, went with Stonemason's Eye to get an extra +2 on Perception (+9 at 1st level) with stonework traps/secret doors/etc.
3. Hey Hagrym, fun to play with you again. To keep the linked storyline, you have to change your heritage or we could be cousins instead of brothers. Also bought you a healer's kit, since that will be important to heal out of combat and it is missing on your character sheet. :)
Hagrym |
Cousins works for me. Close family relative has the same story points!
Thanks for picking up a healer’s kit! Those are the type of things I need to be apprised of while I get my feet wet.

Is your background Acolyte? I believe so, but do not see it on the sheet.
Also, your statistics are off: Str +2, Dex +1, Con +3. With those stats, the AC, HP, Skills, Saves, and Attacks are correct. Also, Disrupt Undead is now known as Vitality Lash in the Remastered version.Good job!
Willorn Flamehand |
Willorn reporting for duty, and thanks for having me. Also used Pathbuilder for the stats, so here's the link to my character.
Penflower Khan |
Hi, thanks for having me!
Ok, so one thing, I am somewhat inexperienced with 2e and if someone has some advice about my build or how to play a magus, I will appreciate you telling me.
Cheers!
Jon Yddina |
@Penflower: Since you asked for some build advice:
I noticed you have both the Shield cantrip and a steel shield. I'm guessing you want the cantrip as a backup in case your steel shield breaks?
I'd suggest picking up a Repair Toolkit since you have plenty of money and are trained in Crafting skill so that you can repair your shield outside of combat when it loses hit points.
It also looks like you still need to pick an ancestry feat and class feat.
For the ancestry feat, I'd suggest Nimble Elf for +5 to your speed to mitigate your armor's speed reduction (hide armor reduces your speed by 5', so your speed without it is 20' instead of 25') but there are other good picks too, like Forlorn, Unwavering Mien, or Ancestral Longevity.
For the class feat, you only have 4 options. I'd suggest Magus's Analysis. It lets you Recall Knowledge about a foe as a single action, with a +1 bonus if you hit it with a Strike previously that turn, and if you succeed, you recharge your Spellstrike.
The only other viable option is Familiar, if you want an animal buddy.
Raise a Tome is a bad idea to shield block with and you only have so many hands anyway, and unless you want to regularly do unarmed Spellstrikes, Arcane Fists isn't worth it.

Jon, you're good to go and you have 2 sp left, as stated in your sheet.

I could not see the link. Please copy the character sheet into your profile for me. Thanks.

I will review your character after you decide if you take Jon's build advice, which consisted of really good points.
Jack Daniels |
Hagrym and Penflower, please add your pertinent stats to the Race/Class tabs of your profile, as the other 3 players have done, so I have the basic information readily accessible, such as AC, saves, and hps.

Willorn I think that's the general Pathbuilder app URL. You can click Share Copy of Character in the browser or Export Character -> Share character by link in the mobile app to get the URL for your specific character.
Also just FYI, I'm intending to take Thaumaturge Dedication for Free Archetype with the weapon implement.

Sorry, Mac, forgot about you. Looks good. 4 sp and cp left. So financial motivation may work for this party if you're not the adventuring type.
Maclin "Mac" Stoneheart |
No worries, DM.
Hagrym has Medicine, Nature, Religion, and Survival covered as well as healing.
Jon has Acrobatics, Diplomacy, Stealth and Thievery as well as ranged combat.
Willorn has Athletics, Stealth, and Thievery.
Penflower covers Arcana, Occultism, and Society.
I've got Perception, Athletics, and Survival and front-line fighting.
I think it's a pretty good mix.

Ah, thanks for the information, I didn't knew about that. I'll put the stat block in the profile.
Penflower Khan |
Thanks Jon, this is great stuff.
About heritage, GM and I have agreed to switch the 2nd level archetype feat with an ancestry feat. Do you still think I should change the heritage?
I followed all your other recommendations, they're gold.
Also, how do I get access to a class feat at 1st level? I filled everything in Pathbuilder and didn't have this option.
Jon Yddina |
Since you've worked something out with the GM then there's no problem with the heritage. I wasn't trying to minmax, just make sure you didn't miss out on getting a benefit from your heritage.
I forgot that spellcasters don't get a class feat at level 1 so that's why you didn't have one.

Willorn, you're missing equipment. Also, your Arcana and Swamp-Lore should be +4 not +5.
Jack Daniels |
Well thanks for the advice!
Penflower, since you meet the Str requirement for the Hide Armor, you do not suffer the armor check penalty. So Acrobatics should be +5 and Athletics +7. Everything else looks good.

It looks like I'm the party Face with a +2 to Charisma and one social skill. It's not quite as surprising as the time my kineticist in light armor was the party tank, as I was tied for highest AC and had the most hit points due to maxing out Con

From what I know of this AP, this is a megadungeon, so since I'll be going face first, I think I am the true party face.

Ah the dangers of copy & paste. Made the necessary corrections (also changed Performance to -1) and added the equipment.

I have linked the Google Slides tab under my alias to make it easier for the PCs to see pics of the NPCs you have met, the town of Otari with map key, and the future monsters and maps. I hope I did it correctly. If not, please let me know.

Jack Daniels |
Penflower and Willorn, please add your Perception scores to the Race/Class tabs, as that will be the stat most used for initiative. Hope you enjoy our first combat - map updated in Slides along with pic of creature.
Jon Yddina |
Well, I probably shouldn't try using my third action for a combat maneuver again until I get Assurance with Athletics ^_^
Jon Yddina |
@GM Into the Fray lets me Stride toward an enemy as a free action as my first action on the first turn, hence the ◇.
I mean, I'd like not to have to burn an action to pick up the whip next turn, but it's only fair since that was my declared action lol
Jon Yddina |
Are we doing milestone leveling or getting XP?
Jack Daniels |
Good question: XP-based. You all receive 60 xp for defeating the slurk. Medium advancement speed.
Also, forgot to mention everyone starts with a Hero Point.
Jack Daniels |
2 maggots = 60 xp
3 gremlins = 60 xp
1 Giant Fly = 40 xp
Total xp gained so far: 220 xp.
Jon Yddina |
Who killed the gremlins? I've read back through the thread several times and keep missing it.
Jack Daniels |
I am very careful not to spoil creatures' official Paizo names until the characters identify them in game. I referred to them as gremlins in the GT. Where did I refer to them as misflits? :)
As for the gremlins, I did write that Mac decapitated one gremlin and Willorn killed the other two. I will try to be clearer in the future. Lol.

The post at the end of page 2 in the gameplay thread where you resolved our attacks (directly after the post were Willorn did the double attack with his axe).

Good catch! My apologies, will try to keep the creature's names more secret in the future until you guys do RK.
