Jax electrocutes the poor man and then Sassarra blasts him full in the face. Skarn takes the opportunity to stab him while he is distracted and he slumps to the ground.

I took Skarns opportune backstab to speed things up a little. Combat over.

Everything goes quiet. The sound of the wind howling outside is all you can hear. However, the room is spattered with blood and gore as well as three bodies and there are the remains of a wall of stone which are sure to attract notice.

What do you do? Hiding the bodies needs an athletics or stealth check from one person at a time. You need to hide all 3. The wall will attract notice. You may also want to do some healing and maybe loot the bodies but the longer you take the more the chance of discovery.

While he starts once again quelching his flames, Skarn throws some ideas around. We could make it look like an internal disagreement that escalated. A fight among soldiers over who slept with who's sister or something. Put the guards inside the wall and make it look like the cleric had cast it. This has the disadvantage that we can't loot all of the equipment. But that's also not what we're here for.

Given that it would take another disintegrate to clean up the wall, she reluctantly agrees.

Jax stages the scene. Checking over the guards they have the expected low level magical arms and armour which he leaves in place. They have no coin but the officer does have one item of note, its a solid looking iron key.

Let me know if you are taking the key.

As you are wrapping up and preparing to head up you hear the sound of more feet coming up the stairs in the kitchen. You must act fast to avoid detection!

Each of you needs to give me a deception or stealth check. This is a complication so if you fail or critically fail you can spend a leverage point to succeed but you need to explain how it applies.

Considering I can be in the same square as Skarn because I'm tiny, I would. As a tiny creature I don't want to hit my ally, I would use vampiric Exsanguination. I would use my quickened spell feat to turn the spell into one action, assuming the door is opened, as it appears on roll20. dmg: 12d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6, 5, 2, 6, 6, 4, 5, 5, 3) = 50 void damage to each guard. They can make a Fort save dc 32 to half it. I gain temporary hit points equal to the amount of damage the one with the most took. So if One succeeds and the other fails, I gain hit points equal to the one that took damage and failed, or crit failed, edt.

how about rolling initiative first, Jax?

I was under the impression a surprise round can consist of a single action, in this case it was a single action spell, but I'll roll init. If my allies get in the way, I'll change my action cause I can't cast around them. I currently have 2 level 6 spells marked off, this assumes the DM allows it.

stealth init: 1d20 + 24 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 24 + 2 = 46 Edit, with a 46 init, this either counts as my one action surprise, or it counts as my first action out of 3 on my first turn and I get two more, either way that spell is going off without allies getting in the way or enemies moving into melee with me.

2E does not have surprise rounds. I will move us into a combat, you can use your initiative that you have rolled but the enemy may beat you and be able to react. If you are avoiding notice and your roll beats their perception DC then they will not know you are there. You are not able to Mark for Death before initiative rolls.

You position yourselves outside of the kitchen and prepare to ambush the two scruffy looking guards. However, Skarn bursting into flames sort of gives the game away a little bit although you do manage to get the drop on them.

OK, lets try out grouped initiative based on the highest average. Your average is 39 (rounding down as always), they get 38 so you go first, just.

It has been a minute or more, so I will use my ring of greater ram again against guard number 1 as three actions [dice=dmg]9d6 Fort save dc 32. And target is pushed 15 feet if he fails, so he'd be pushed into the table, if he succeeds, 5 feet.

Meant to post this as Jax

Given what's happened, I want to see if guard 2 is still up before taking my turn.

The guard is slammed into the workbench by the force of Jax's ring.

Skarn strikes the adlet twice and he crumples to the ground.

Two regular hits take him down. You did not roll your bleed but it doesnt really matter this time.

Tomas moves in and strikes the remaining guard.

29 hits Guard 1 who is off guard due to Skarns gang up.

He then rips the mans feat from under him while Skarn stabs him in the face.

I dont believe trip damage benefits from weapon specialisation. It has the attack trait but is not an attack. I assume Skarn will opportune backstab.

I am going to call the fight here, the remaining Guard is certainly very much dead.

All goes quiet....

You earn 1 infiltration point. What do you do? Skarn has 20 damage on him but everyone else is at full.

Rolls:

Fort: 1d20 ⇒ 16, pass, the bench is not a space he can be in so he doesnt move.

Tomas damage: 1d4 + 5 + 3d6 ⇒ (1) + 5 + (4, 6, 6) = 22

That was much faster. Now I really need a pause! Skarn starts refocusing by mentally and physically putting out his flames.

I have 20 + rounds x2 fire + 1d6 ⇒ 5 damage

Jax makes a suggestion
It looks like there is a tiny closet in room A12, should we stuff all 5 bodies in there? I know I spent time staging the scene, but that is a good place to stuff all the bodies. Eventually the bodies will smell up and they will be discovered, but we ain't hiding 5 bodies easily. We can also strip them. One staged fight is okay, but 2 fights means someone was here.

Sassarra helps Skarn put himself out with healing waters.

ocean's balm: 7d8 ⇒ (5, 8, 8, 8, 2, 7, 2) = 40

Technically he gets fire resistance from this, but I don't think that applies to curse damage.

She'll wash up the blood with her water and then dry the floor to hide signs of a struggle.

If you now decide to hide the bodies then this is a complication and I need an athletics or stealth check for each body to conceal them.
