Sylvester stands ready with his spell while Shaggy takes a total defensive stance.

Bedlam moves to a position where he can help defend either Sylvester or Khellek and readies his weapon. I don’t see an attack roll. Also what spell did you cast here on Grog’s axe?

Numair moves to the center of the room, between Khellek and Miriel. He also has his spell at the ready.

Grog stands ready to put his full strength into a blow with his great axe.

Khellek moves to the center of the room and readies to fire his crossbow at the creature.

"I suppose not. And nothing to recognize them, but we can ask the people if the guess that these are Orielle and Zyesha is correct."

She breathes in, concentrates to calm herself, then back to her normal voice and manner suggests: "The situation here is most unpleasant, but a far greater challenge awaits us back in the festivities. There most probably is not much more to be discovered here, and the deceased can wait our blessings while we perform more urgent matters. We must identify the impersonators of these unfortunates, investigate further and protect everyone, as was promised by our society. Are we in agreement?"

As you report back to Major Maldris and Lady Morilla, they nod in understanding before instructing you to mingle with the dinner guests again and attempt to pin down the infiltrator.

As Genedair‘s speech concludes, the guests migrate into the adjoining salon, where a string quartet from the White Grotto music school plays soothing chamber music.

The salon is crowded, but Numair and Sylvester see the maid Orielle weaving her way through the crowd serving the guests. They see no sign of Zyesha. They see nothing suspicious in Orielle’s actions — seems to be the same person you were introduced to before the party.

Major Colson Maldris mentions to Grog that he intends to speak with Senator Naran and invites him to come along. Similarly Bedlam is invited by Lady Gloriana Morilla to join her as she speaks with Lady Vaelia.

What do you want to do?

Damn, my post was deleted :((

Bedlam surely will follow Glorianna to mingle with lady Vaelia.
In a crowdy situation he may check his suspicions with Detect Evil after disappearing from views...

And lady Zyesha likely a suspect now.
Bedlam bows to Khellek before departure with lady Morilla and also asks some one of servitors where is riding dog might be to check Flawss later. Strangely Bedlam nownffels some anxiety after cellar encounter warmed by Miriel feelings.

Bedlam:

Lady Gloriana Morilla speaks with Lady Vaelia, first reminiscing about Taldor's lost glory before turning the subject to the Fifth Crusade.

Certainly,” the faction leader remarks, “the crusade is a prime opportunity to lead Taldor to greatness once more; when the Shining Crusade and the Armies of Exploration swept across the Inner Sea region, it was Taldor that led the charge. Were Taldor to save the world once more, surely the empire would regain, if not exceed, its former glory.

Lady Vaelia scrunches up her mouth as if having bitten into a bitter fruit before scathingly reprimanding Lady Morilla (calling her“little girl”) for her misguided passion. The older woman then launches into a tirade about the evils of Qadira and how Taldor cannot afford to turn its back on such a serpent such as that foul nation and its cult of the “Sun Witch”—her term for Sarenrae.

Ever the diplomat, Lady Morilla shows no insult from Lady Vaelia and her barbs.

Lady Morilla tries again to reason with her elder, which only prompts Lady Vaelia to confide quietly that Morilla's plan will never work; the nobles of Taldor have already sent a contingent of soldiers north, and that is a contingent too many, as they now regret. Lady Morilla politely murmurs her understanding before excusing herself.

As she departs, she adds an aside to you: “This will not stand. For the good of Taldor—for the good of what it means to be one of the aristocracy—we must not ignore the threat of the Worldwound. We will speak more on this later.

It sounds like Khellek is trying to find and get close enough to the maid Orielle in order to inspect her clothing for any clues.
I will handle all of that at once for the group once more have told me their approach.
This also would have been another chance to influence the NPCs, but you’ve already done what is possible there.

Bedlam patiently supposrt lady Gloriana etquette with face mimics and compassion, though not forgetting to mention that it is usually impossible to eliminate the threat being only defensive and that Society taught him that in cooperation lays way to success.

- So we surely should not ignore threats, agree with your wisdom, lady Vaelia!

@Miriel My understanding is it is obvious when someone is using the Detect Evil ability and it would be considered very rude.

Grog:

Major Maldris speaks with Senator Naran, first proudly describing Andoran's unique strengths and how they might be employed against demons. Naran favors vague affirmatives that do not bind him to any particular action but sound agreeable. The senator is a master at not committing to a course of action.

Maldris changes his tactics to inquire about Andoran and the health of the nation, which encourages Naran to go on at some length about the bountiful economy and the richness of his own holdings. As Maldris politely prompts him to go on, Naran mentions several other senators and politicians, who Maldris verbally notes should have finished their elected terms several months ago; Naran agrees with a laugh before condescendingly assuring Maldris that “Some people are born to power and are fit to keep it—for the good of all Andoren citizens, of course”, he adds as an afterthought.

Learning that Andoran has developed a class of career politicians, of haves and have-nots, enrages the major. He mutters an excuse between clenched teeth before breaking off the conversation.

When Bedlam asks where Flawss could be safely left, the staff suggests the stables or kennel. They mention that the wolfhounds in the kennel are not fighting dogs.

It seems the maid Orielle is constantly on the move serving drinks to the guests. It is difficult to get a detailed look at her. Numair and to a lesser extent Grog do get close enough to her that they can tell there are no obvious blood stains or tears in her uniform. They don’t notice anything unusual about her.

Suddenly, a woman's shrill cry cuts through the chamber music and muted conversation. Across the salon, Senator Naran holds his buxom young wife in his arms after her apparent collapse. As all eyes turn on the unconscious woman, the senator emits an angry cry: “Poison! Gods, my wife has been poisoned!

As a result of the announcement by Senator Naran, many of the guests and servants panic and the room erupts into chaos. Servants scatter as several of the guests toss their full wine glasses to the floor, while others spit out their wine with looks of horror and revulsion.

Lady Dyrianna quickly comes to Dalessa's aid with a neutralize poison spell. She does not prevent Numair from using his spell but does say “I can neutralize the poison, let me through!

Numair, since you announced what you were doing before acting, I will let you decide if you still give her the Heroism or not. You know that the Neutralize Poison is going to get rid of any poison so there is less use for the heroism.

Bedlam, Grog, Numair, Sylvester:
You see that Orielle is one of the servants trying to get out of the room in the rush. Not all of the group seems to have seen her.

Chasing her would require you to push your way through a mob of agitated guests, guards, and servants to get to the salon door.
Reflex save or Overrun combat maneuver suggested, I would consider creative solutions.

Bedlam using distraction as an additional aid to his sneaky detection

Although it is possible that some might have noticed Bedlam, most of the people are too distracted by the fear of poisoning that no one comments.

Bedlam:
There definately was an evil aura in the area. You only have the one round right now and people are moving around too much for you to pinpoint who.

Miriel runs to the poison victim. "Oh no, that's horrible! I have this..." she says as she starts pulling out a vial, but stops when Lady Dyrianna comes. {b]"Ah, well, that's of course better Let our esteemed lady through, give her room",[/b] she tries to help by managing the crowd.

"Poisons, why always poisons, I hate them." she mumbles to herself.

Sovereign Court

Male | HP= 57 | AC=24 | CMD=19 | Fort +12, Ref +11, Will +11 | LG Gnome Paladin (4) / Bard (1) / Shadowdancer (2) | Init+2

Grog sees a sign from Bedlam to corner and have a short conversation with maid Orielle who acts evasive. Bits of brutality now lays in a shadowdancer face mimics as he is full of resolve...

With Grog having pointed out where Orielle is going, anyone who wants to follow the maid may attempt a Reflex save or Overrun Combat Maneuver to move through the panicking crowd.

Liberty's Edge

Female Elf Paladin 5 (HP: 49/49 | AC: 19 (20 with haste, 21 against smite target) touch: 13 (15) FF: 16 (18) CMD: 21 (23) | F+7 R+6 W+4 | Init +7 | Percep +0 SM -2) LoH 4/4 | Smite 1/2)

"Oh that's suspicious!" Miriel answers to Grog. She runs to catch the maid, not noticing the guests as she's focusing at the maid. "Oh, sorry!" she quickly shouts an apology at a guest she pushed, and immediately stumbles upon another, almost falling over.

Overrun: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 12 +8 CMB, +2 heroism

I don't think that's a success.

Sylvester and Bedlam are able to see the serving girl through an open doorway before she abruptly vanishes into thin air.

Bedlam or Sylvester, Spellcraft DC 22:
She used Greater Teleport to disappear.

Grog,Numair were either of you going to try as well?

Senator Naran and his still-unconscious wife Dalessa leave the manor. Once her carriage is available Lady Vaelia and her manservant Tamuel leave as well.

Major Maldris and Lady Morilla ask you to help Michellia and Damien Blakros calm the remaining guests and restore order. It takes a few minutes, but you do manage to calm them. Lady Dyrianna comes to you with her concerns for her missing escort, Faelyn. Faelyn has been missing since shortly after they left the dining hall. She originally thought the lascivious rascal has taken up with one of the other guests or one of the pretty serving girls. Now she is concerned.

As you are sorting all of this out, a serving girl approaches your group and says “Tespren urgently needs you in the upstairs drawing room.” None of you detect any trickery on her part, she seems to just be relaying a message from the captain of the Blakros guards.

Then let us quickly join him. Perhaps he has extra information.." suggests Khellek.

The elderly scholar eyes the drinks cabinet for a moment, and then with a sigh moves toward the stairs.
