GM Bret |
Miriel is told Orielle was in the pantry just a moment ago, but they all think the two are now with the guests serving them drinks.
To be clear Grog, you are one of the people who saw Bedlam slip away. You saw him descend the stairs to the wine cellar.
The cool, dark wine cellar has a flagstone floor and walls covered with light gray ceramic tiles. Its irregularly shaped walls and alcoves are lined with dusty shelves that hold an impressive array of wine bottles. Propped up against the far west wall are two naked forms, both covered with fresh blood. Though both are clearly female, their faces have been chewed away entirely, leaving them both unidentifiable.

** spoiler omitted **
yep grog was trying to make conversation :)
Grog whispers. "He's in the cellar"
Bedlam Nesuschiy |
Bedlam carefully leaves the cellar without delay and takes his mates a bit away from other cooks, saying not loud:
- We have a problem. There are 2 naked dead female bodies with faces chewed away. I think they died pretty recently. I have not searched the cellar, but the killer maybe still there. Perhaps we should go there together.
Khellek the historian |
Khelleks eyes widen. "Let us go an examine the bodies. You say the faces were chewed? Perhaps... could someone be masqueraiding as them. The chewed faces would make it harder to work out who they were pretending to be. Who has been down the the cellar?"
then he pauses and looks at Bedlam. "And what is your mothers maiden name ... come on... quickly now."
Bedlam Nesuschiy |
- Shadfolast...why? Gnomes usually use family names, ya now? Anyway. Let's go examine. Let's bring some light and shadows inside.
Bedlam seems a bit confused and anxious despite being still brave and has no visible hesitations.
Khellek the historian |
Khellek follows Bedlam down the stairs.
"To see if you were confident in knowing who you claim to be. If there is a master of disguise killing people and destroying their faces... well.. one of them could be you. That is, one of them could have killed you and be impersonating you. Why do you think the faces were chewed rather than disfigured. I wonder if that implies a creature such as a doppleganger, rather than a more mundane assassin."
GM Bret |
Might want to arrange yourselves on the map as you go down. Bedlam previously did not go any further than the bottom of the stairs down to the cellar.

Miriel Magol |
Miriel is shocked by the news. "Oh no, quick! Could it be Orielle and Zyesha? What could do such horrible things?"
She follows Bedlam closely, readying her blade on the way. At the cellar, she tries to check if there is still some threat about.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Khellek the historian |
"I think we might want to head upstairs and see if we can corrale Orielle and Zyesha before they change faces again." suggests Khellek.
"Time is of the essence!"
Khellek the historian |
Heading back up, he gather "his students" around.
"We must find those two sevants. They will likely have traces of blood on their outfits. Eating someones face off must be messy. Why I remember a shaving cut I had not too long ago..."
Bedlam Nesuschiy |
- Maybe you understand life and know everything, though I am far from this kinda enlightenment. But we need to study bodies and search this place before call the alarm or something. Fear not, wise Khellek. We are here. Demons or undead, or feys - we should investigate.
Says Bedlam proceeding deeper with Miriel and hopefully with some other backup, full of resolve.
He is preparing shield and unleash sword just in case...
Sylvester Solstar |
Sylvester (and Shaggy) follow the rest of the group. He shrugs at the strange occurrence.
"Another fancy party another day as a Pathfinder."
Miriel Magol |
Miriel first starts to turn back with Khellek's suggestion, then stops as Bedlam mentions examination. "Up, yes, or down?" I..." She breathes in, and concentrates a moment. "I think, as we have already descended here, investigation of the attack is appropriate. But with utmost haste, and then to discover the impersonators."
She follows alongside Bedlam, to examine the cellar and the bodies.
GM Bret |
Grog since you said you went into the cellar I have moved you there.
Sylvester you just said you were following, so I have put you at the top of the stairs leading into the cellar.
Currently Grog, Bedlam and Miriel are in the cellar while Sylvester and shaggy are just at the top of the stairs. Numair are still upstairs in the kitchen.

@Numair: That isn’t the pantry, but I know what room you meant. You’ve got a room between the kitchen and the dining room that I suspect would be used by staff to organize plates before bringing them into the dining room. It is that room that has the stairs to the wine cellar.
Is the door you intend to close the one to the wine cellar? Sylvester and Shaggy are also outside the wine cellar.
Sylvester Solstar |
Sylvester creates three copies of himself and then rides Shaggy down the stairs.

Khellek comes down the stairs. Bedlam catches a glance at a shadowy figure going through the wall and crossing the alcove to the north of him. Sylvester gets a much better view as it pops out of the wall right next to him and Shaggy.
The ghostly figure is a medium-sized incorporeal humanoid. It attacks Sylvester, hitting the real one rather than one of the images!

Sylvester manages to fight off the drain caused by the incorporeal creature.
Khellek determines that both creatures are undead.
The creature attacking Grog is a Fleshwalker Mohrg. Attacks with the tongue can cause paralysis. It shares the normal undead traits and can cause people it kills to rise immediately as spawn.
He creature attacking Sylvester is an Advanced Wraith. It has lifesense allowing it to detect people even while in a solid object. It can also cause people to rise as spawn if killed by it. It has an unnatural aura that prevents normal animals from approaching within 30 feet of them.
Sylvester, next round please start giving me a DC 25 Ride or Handle Animal check if Shaggy is to stay near it. I forgot this round.
