As the group stands about chit-chatting, the door to the room flies open, and the figure revealed there, obviously another wererat, in hybrid form, to Gundar's eyes, stabs at his flatfooted self...

Shortsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

...and misses.

Beyond, Gundar can see two more of the donkey rats inside the room.

Gundar can take an AOO against one of the rats as it moves into position to attack him. Ghaernan can also loose his readied spell against the rats.

He is so surprised by the sudden appearance, his swing goes wide!
