Verilich |

When she tries to "withdrawl" Verilich has Step Up that allows him to 5' with her first 5'. then her second 5' space is no longer protected by the withdrawl action, so Verilich gets an AOO which he will gladly use a stunning fist action on her
AOO stunning fist attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 DC 15 fort save
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
are there pugwampies near by!!! V is wildly missing

Verilich |

with his normal attack, V will keep pace and double move
Verilich pursues and this time prepares to stop her a different way, as he drops his 3-section staff to free up both hands.
if she again attempts to withdrawl, V will step up and attempt a grapple on her fleeing

Ghaernan Barova |

Verilich and Caius can see that the fleeing Tower Girl rushes down the passageway to the Southeast.
Imposter! What have you done with our Grymp, Mr. Zahir blah blah blah?! And all his handy links... >;-)

Grymp |

I’ll get to this, but Verilich does not get an AOO when she withdraws. Step Up kicks in on a “5’ Step” which she didn’t do.

Grymp |

Ok, by “running” Gundar is able to make the corner and keep up with the Khalid and Ghaernan.
The lead Tower Girl continues her flight from he party, she turns a corner and disappears from Verilich’s sight.

Ghaernan increases his own pace to a run as the surviving Tower Girl escapes around the far corner, considering the potentially imminent need for his longer-ranging magicks...

Verilich |

I’ll get to this, but Verilich does not get an AOO when she withdraws. Step Up kicks in on a “5’ Step” which she didn’t do.
then he doesn't drop his weapon if this is the mechanics of the feat

Grymp |

Verilich will continue the hot pursuit which I presume he ends right next to her each time since we have the same movement rate
As near as I could figure, you were gonna lose 5’ on her this time because of how the 15’ diagonals and such add up. Weird, I know.

Grymp |

The fleeing Tower Girl bolts down the stone steps with frantic speed, her footsteps echoing loudly in the confined space. Her panicked voice pierces the air as she screams, "Intruders! They're right behind me! Help!" The desperate cry reverberates off the ancient walls, a chilling alarm meant to alert anyone further below.
Her figure disappears deeper into the shadowy stairwell, her ragged breaths and fading footsteps the only indication of her flight as she descends into the depths of the Crow.

Khalid will whisper into the message spell, "This pursuit is foolish, the rest of us are too slow to keep up and we are being strung out. We should regroup before we assault."

I moved Gundar another 40. He certainly can't see the TG, she is several turns ahead of him. Khalid has sent a message to Ghaernan, although the party, except for V, are all right together just now.

Ghaernan Barova |

Ghaernan double-moves, rounding the corner and down a flight of stairs to catch up with Caius, whispering as he descends to the two companions he can now Message in response...
For reference, last comms on Verelich Message string were from him on Fri 13 Dec in RWT. Khalid's comms from yesterday enable the other.
"Verelich, Khalid rightly notes we're very strung-out - dangerous. Any enemies will be ready, with Tower Girl's screaming."
"Agreed, Khalid. Messaged to Verelich."

Grymp |

Double moved. Is going down stairs difficult terrain?
Haha, not today at least! Maybe it's supposed to be.

Ghaernan Barova |

From Archives of Nethys with reference: Source PRPG Core Rulebook pg. 415
Stairs are the most common means of traveling up and down within a dungeon. A character can move up or down stairs as part of their movement without penalty, but they cannot run on them. Increase the DC of any Acrobatics skill check made on stairs by 4. Some stairs are particularly steep and are treated as difficult terrain.

Grymp |

The fleeing Tower Girl stays her path to the West and continues shouting about intruders and needing backup.

Ghaernan replies in-turn through the Message Spell...
"I fear we're too far back, especially Gundar, to reinforce you fast enough if you're ambushed with the alarm now raised. Assembling on the last stairs..."

Khalid Vasari |

. Ya.
As we group up, Khalid will say, "Verilich, what did you see? I haven't seem anything but Caius's back since we left that last fight. We did hear that Tower Girl yelling like a baby."
"Should we buff here quickly and charge to minimize the time they have to gather reinforcements? Or should wait a bit to give them time to lower their guard and/or send out scouting parties we can ambush?"

Ghaernan Barova |

Ghaernan runs to retrieve his backpack as Verelich retraces his steps to the rest of the company...
As the companions group up, the Bard listens to Khalid's questions, considering them carefully...
"Good considerations indeed; I'm inclined to think the latter. We've clearly arrived via the one way into this massive pillar, at least that they're aware of, and they won't be gathering any more reinforcements from outside with us now controlling that key terrain. Giving them more time to lower their guard might also have precisely the effect that you speculate, Khalid, and give us the opportunity to thoroughly explore the halls we've run past, as well. Others?"

Caius Emberborne |

"They obviously search for something and we certainly seek a powerful artifact ourselves. If they recover what they seek, perhaps that would prove ill for us? I say we press ahead now before they have time to form a plan or react!

Khalid Vasari |

"Anyone wounded? Verilich, what does down the stairs look like? Can anyone think of a great point to set up an ambush of their likely pending advance party? A ten to twenty foot wide corridor seems perfect, given a round of warning I can drink my enlarge person extract to maximize the tactical advantage while keeping the support safe."

Verilich |

"down the stairs was the first time there was a straight shot into another room into which I could not see. so I have no intel on how many, capabilities, nor layout....it does seem to be their MO to throw lit torches towards intruders so that they can see. Perhaps that may be a weakness of theirs if we take the torches away, then they will be hampered." Verilich looks to the others for their inputs on tactics and then answers Khalid, "I am not wounded. Gundar's healing from before was sufficient and these girls all missed from the last room."

Khalid Vasari |

"Hmm, my need for light would make taking full advantage of that weakness difficult. Moving forward based on this intel to find a good ambush spot seems unrewarding."
"Thinking about the way we came, I think the best spot to set up an ambush then based on our lack of ranged prowess is the first intersection. There we can pin them in a bit, limiting thier opportunities to get into our rear to create flanking opportunities and protecting our support, while allowing all three of our melee combatants full opportunity to create havoc. I can turn off my light once we get into position, and then the reflection of their light sources plus your dark vision would give ample warning of their approach."
"If we take this tactic, I can take the northern dead end room to give me room while large, and leave your four to the west. Thoughts?"

Khalid Vasari |

I know, but I think we want to set up an ambush first to see if there is a quick response. I don't know. 10 minutes? At least that is sort of a consensus I think. After that we might want to explore if they fail to investigate or mass charge.

Ghaernan Barova |

Ghaernan walks back the ancient halls with Khalid, reflecting upon his words while appreciating the key terrain qualities...
"I like your concept, Khalid; it seems like a solid tactical plan, using that intersection to full advantage against their flanking. Gundar, you could still be within 30 feet or so of Khalid, able to reach him relatively quickly if needed. It does seem the best place to prepare for them if they intend on a rapid response; with their uniform aggression thus far, that certainly would fit the pattern..."

Khalid Vasari |

"Great, let's do it and see if they fall into our trap. Once I see the reflection of their torch light against the far wall, I will move north and enlarge myself. I suggest the four of you form up a bit to the west."
Once in position, Khalid will command his wayfinder to turn off the light.

Grymp |

After achieving consensus, the party sets up a brilliant ambush, waits 10 minutes, and nothing materializes.

Ghaernan Barova |

"Well, perhaps the Tower Girls' leaders are wiser than their minions - and certainly therefore more dangerous, if so. Shall we return to where we last ended our explorations, in the chamber where we found the last three of them, and search for what they might have missed among The Crow's secrets that would lead us to the next shard?"

Khalid Vasari |

"Sounds good to me." Khalid says while turning back on his wayfinder. "Verilich, would you mind setting watch in the dark from the direction the tower girls may come from while we search?"
