...@The Lost Voice I do tend to think outside the box, so if I do overstep please let me know.
I enjoy creative nontraditional solutions... lol.
Not a problem at all. It does make for a more active and colorful situation with non-traditional solutions, and it keeps me focused as well. As long as the problem is viably solved, I will happily "yes, and..." along.
I've approved three requests for access that should automatically happen when you access the map for the first time, and it sends a notification to my phone, so That should be granted within the hour unless it is really late (GMT-5) for me.
Pertinax and Zephyr still to act.

The Lost Voice |

Pertinax, you should be able to move the tokens as needed for your (and Zemfira's) action.

Zephyr Starrr |

It is really hard for me to tell who is the bad guys.
Does Zeph have LoS to that honeybadger inside the control console? or maybe the blue guy by the forklift?

The Lost Voice |

Apologies. I went for the general standard of video game context clues.
Anyone with a green ring is allied or confirmed friendly. The PCs all have the avatars of this forum, but I had a Brenneri token instead of the badger for Sparks.
The gold ringed individual next to Duravor was waiting with him when you arrived.
Everyone else is not hostile per se, but each side is generally focused on fighting the other but stray shots are occurring. In the future, obvious actively hostile individuals will have red rings.
Zephyr does have LOS to the forklift individual, as well as as the middle and lower individuals on the left. Consider an extinguisher cloud lingering one more round for six squares in a straight line down from Dirk.

and both the forklift guy and Dirk are like 40-45' away, correct?

...The white hot slug streaks across the bay. He doesn't care if he hits or not. He just wants to give cover to his team...
Covering fire is an action that can be taken, if you want to do so. Who are you granting the bonus to?
"You can use your standard action to make a ranged attack that provides covering fire for an ally. Make a ranged attack roll against AC 15. If you hit, you deal no damage but the selected ally gains a +2 circumstance bonus to AC against the next attack from a creature in your line of effect (see page 271), so long as that attack occurs before your next turn."
Pertinax, where are you wanting to move Durevor to? You and Zemfira still have your move actions.

Let's pull straight back, past Dirk, heading toward Zephyr. That should at least get him out of the crossfire and toward more friendlies.

Considering that combat tends to drag when it comes to people and timing (because life, right?), I was wondering if it would break the feel or flow for you if just throwing a line of intent into Discussion about what your character would be doing in the combat if getting the time to post in gameplay would be a little difficult at the moment.
In combats, I'm likely going to keep things moving after 48hours and bot those that had not posted, as time gets away from us here and there and being bogged down in a combat is not a good feeling.
Thoughts?

Dirk Gently. |

Again apologies for missing that Round 2 post. Unusual for me to be honest.
I am cool with keeping things moving. PbP is difficult to maintain momentum.

The Lost Voice |

No one has taken any outright hostile actions (save for Dirk, which missed), so no one is being focused on by either side. There are a couple of triggers that will end the combat, but I'm enjoying seeing how this plays out.

Sparks got hit, so it's personal at this point. If they turn tail and run, however, he'll not pursue. 'Botting is fine with me, although I should have time to post every day.
Next weekend, however, I'll be at a Steampunk Convention, so posting may be delayed.

Sounds fun, have a good time! ^_^
I'd be inclined to zap somebody now that Zem's fully attuned, but I think we're still moving Durevor, so I'll defer to Pertinax.

I came down with COVID over the weekend, so my posting will be less frequent for a few days. I'll try to make sufficient posts to keep things moving, but 'bot me if needed. My symptoms are not life threatening, just annoying (sore throat, some coughing, slight fever). Hope to be better soon.

Sorry to hear that, did you miss out on your convention? Or was exposure at the event the gift that keeps on giving?
Rest, fluids and feel better soon!

About half the convention was experienced before realizing I was sick. My wife got COVID a year ago at a convention and that time I did not pick it up from her. I felt a sore throat and knowing it could be COVID I got a test kit and it came back positive. So I stayed in the hotel room the rest of the con.
I did pick some good cosplay additions to my Steampunk persona and designed a custom set of goggles before having to quit to recover and avoid spreading it further.
This time my wife did not get it so we both don't have to fight it at the same time. I went 4 years before falling to the scourge and had the benefit of lots of vaccines and boosters. Should have gotten another booster before going but did not get around to it.

The Lost Voice |

It's fixed?
I corrected it when I noticed the post a little after it went up. I'm not sure how the map keeps getting cut, not squashed, but it's a simple re-upload.

Sparks Goforth |

There is an Undo button in the top bar. If you realize you've moved the map instead of your token, hit the undo button and it will put things back.

Dirk Gently. |

The issue is that I attempt to enlarge the Map (bad eyes) but end up enlarging it too much than I can't fix it because everything is too large....and round and round...

The Lost Voice |

I was concerned that slides would be not functional enough, but I was able to rebuild it pretty easily. Emails sent, but feel free to use the drawings until the conclusion, if you like.

Sparks Goforth |

You can zoom into the view with the zoom button in the toolbar. The trick is that once you click the magnifying glass icon and left click on the map to enlarge your view of everything, you have to click on the arrow icon to go back to using the cursor to click and drag etc.

The Lost Voice |

Understood. It has happened to me often enough that before I submit, I copy the post to the clipboard. I've had too many multi-paragraph posts just disappear into the void that I take more precautions than I used to.

Sparks Goforth |

I just do CTRL-A and then CTRL-C. Same result with fewer strokes.
It is particularly important to do this when updating your profile, as that sometimes claims I've exceeded my time limit when I've been editing the profile for less than a minute.

The Lost Voice |

I'm keeping an eye on the page. I want you all to get some relaxation in before moving the plot forward.

No joke, the rancid butter thing is real. Check out this fragment of a poem, composed in the 5th century by Roman Prefect turned Bishop of Clermont (and later Saint) Sidonius Apollinaris while he lived amongst the Burgundians:
Why... do you bid me compose a song dedicated to Venus... placed as I am among the long-haired hordes, having to endure Germanic speech, praising often with a wry face the song of the gluttonous Burgundian who spreads rancid butter on his hair? ... You don't have a reek of garlic and foul onions discharged upon you at early morn from ten breakfasts, and you are not invaded before dawn ... by a crowd of giants.

The Lost Voice |

It occurs to me that I may not have mentioned that at any time (barring combats, of course), we can "zoom out" so that everyone is not stuck with the minutiae of an (in this case) entire night out. Don't get me wrong, I definitely enjoy seeing your characters live and breathe, but I also don't want to overly delay plot progress.
If you like, you can summarize what you want to do for the evening/night/early am(?), as well as any Culture checks and topics (different roll for each), or a general one if you're so inclined. We can then "Fade Out" after dinner and come back in the morning(-ish), with plot progress.
Am I missing anything anyone wants to do?

I'm good, I just wanted everyone to go out and see the sights and have a good time.

Zemfira |

I'm good, I just wanted everyone to go out and see the sights and have a good time.
Kinda have to confess to not really feeling this recreational vibe. It would have been fine right off the ship but with the sudden death of the contact without any hint of resolution, it feels wrong to me. Zem will go along with the group just to not be alone, but I'm just not motivated to write much.
Also, I'm still not experienced enough with the setting to know how/what to do with culture checks. Was that supposed to be connected to the news headlines?

The Lost Voice |

Think of Culture as being able to get a sense for what the mood, trends, customs, or general societal flow of a given location containing individuals. A Culture check in your area (if totaling high) would get you knowledge of the general type of people that are staying at the hotel, a sense of their tax bracket, perhaps, as well as the subtle touches that denote their particular place in their socio-economic strata.
(To be honest, that example feels like more Dirk's thing)
Contrast that against Diplomacy (or Intimidation), where that is interacting with an individual directly for specific information.
Culture can tell you whether or not you're in the right place to find information on a thing, where Diplomacy/Intimidation can get the specificity of the thing out of someone who might know.
The headlines were something I realized I could add to give some flavor to the current (overall) events that were topping the newsfeeds. Looking into them could get you the gist of the article, or you could investigate deeper, if you wanted. The only thing that is coming up in the next day is the requested meeting by the Starfinder Society, but other than that your time is your own.

Dirk Gently's Three Blue eyes turn big as an epiphany hits him like all that buttery goodness will later this afternoon!
I should be using my Espionage Specialist skills to gain knowledge of the general type of people that are staying at the hotel, a sense of their tax bracket, perhaps, as well as the subtle touches that denote their particular place in their socio-economic stratus sphere!
(Deadpan look at the camera before failing to hold the expression and bursting out laughing)

Out of town for a trip, I don't have access to a computer like I had hoped. Earliest update will be Sunday night.

Sparks Goforth |

I will not be able to post Monday. I'll be in the hospital getting a minor operation and staying the night. Should be fine to post Tuesday or Wednesday at the the latest.
