Vasaam Cathan |

Vasaam watches as the rest of the team ready weapons to crack the ridiculously big crab. He stays behind them, ready to send a freezing ray at the creature if he gets in range. Ray of Frost. Range 25'

Mary Dawnrose |

Lariel's the first to launch an attack, but it flies over the crab.
As others prepare, the crab advances towards Aletha, taking a solid and harsh blow in the process of getting near her. Its natural exterior badly hurt.
Pincer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Grab?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27Ouch.
Constrict dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The big appendage snaps true, hitting Aletha's flank. On top of it, it now has hold of her, and starts squeezing into her painfully.
Aletha is currently disabled.

Round 2
Caroline & Leona
Aletha (disabled & grappled)
Lariel & Vasaam
------------
Giant crab (-13)

Aletha Verkossian |

The Crab is also grappled, as it did not take the -20 on its CMB to grapple me, which should at least reduce its AC for a fair bit and prevent it from getting AoOs. As such is prudent for me to move last, as I am still debuffing it in a way.

Coraline Sealen |

With a focus on her friends, Coraline takes more time and better positioning, and strikes with her spear. She does not probably hit
To hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Vasaam Cathan |

Seeing his friends doing not so well at hitting the creature, and worried for Aletha, Vasaam shoots a ray of frost at the thing.... Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 and misses miserably!
Makes that a total of 22?

Mary Dawnrose |

Seeing their fellow team member in the pincer-y clutches of the giant crab, the team attacks with ranged and melee strikes. None land a hit, though.
Will Aletha kill the crab before it squeezes the life out of her?
Or break free from its grip?
Probably yes?
Aletha (disabled & grappled)
-------------------------
Giant crab (-13, grappling)

Mary Dawnrose |

Aletha's attack is heavily hampered by the pain and inconvenient position she finds herself in. The strain becomes too much, and with a bleeding wound she passes out.
Aletha is at -1, please make a stabilize roll.
The crab, it's target now limb in its pincer, moves a 5ft closer towards Caroline.
Pincer attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Grapple?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Constrict: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
It hits with its pincer, now likewise grabbing and squeezing Caroline as well. Not yet fully recovered from the encounter with the sahuagin, this crushing force is too much. She too passes out at -1.
==================================
Round 3
Caroline (-1, stabilize roll please) & Leona
Lariel & Vasaam
Aletha (-1, stabilize roll please)
------------
Giant crab (-13)

Mary Dawnrose |

So I missed?
Sling atk: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
I think in your enthusiasm, you forgot you had attacked already. I'll take that 18 as your roll for the current round.
The bullet flung by Leona hits, but gosh darnit, the vicious crustacean is still standing.

![]() |

Lariel starts to panic seeing the strong women drop. He shoots an arrow, but then drops his bow and moves in closer drawing his sword saying "Stay behind me! I'll hold it!"
Do we have a combat map?
Shoot with deadly aim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
GM, stop hogging all the good rolls!

Mary Dawnrose |

@Leona slings normally add their STR bonus, so your damage from the earlier roll may be 2 higher?
It still remains walking, even with added dmg.
Lariel's arrow flies over the crab, the aim a little too high, with Lariel getting slightly nervous from seeing the two first passing out from injury.
Vasaam
----------
Crab
@ Lariel, we do have a map. It is under the slides in my header.

Vasaam Cathan |

Worried about the victims in the crab's claws Vasaam can do little other than try again to freeze the giant crab. "Boiled sounds great. But my attack is freezing!"
to hit touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
damage if that hits...: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Mary Dawnrose |

This time, Vasaam manages to hit with his frost ray.
Could you give me the breakdown of the +3 damage?
+1 from PBS, +1 trait force dmg, where does the 3rd +1 come from?
The previously cracked natural shell has an opening, and it is taken advantage of.
The chill of ice overloads the crab's weakened state, and it collapses.
Combat over!

Vasaam Cathan |

Don't have PBS. +1 each from Havoc of the Society, Evocation Intense Spells, and Alchemical Reagent, Liquid Ice.
Vasaam noticed that his hand was shaking when he tried to direct the spell, but luckily it somehow hurt the crustacean. "Shall we cut the claws off to boil? I don't really know where the good meat is but I think I've seen people crack crab claws. ??"

Aletha Verkossian |

Dazed from her near death experience, Aletha mumbles something in
d4 1 Abyssal 2 Necril 3 Infernal 4 Celestia: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Muszę zamontować działko automatyczne na ramieniu, wtedy kraby będą się mnie bać! Aletha mumbles something as she regains conciousness
I need to install a shoulder mounted Autocannon, then the crabs will fear me!
Blyad She says to noone in particular

Mary Dawnrose |

Lariel will find Aletha is not bleeding, but to get her healthier and wake up, the group will have to use healing.
Stuck on a crusty bit of one of the crab's legs, is some sort of ring.
It needs some cleaning, but it could sell for profit.
From where the crab came, a pool with much darker depth is seen.
Potentially deeper than mere shallow water.
A cluster of mushrooms pops its members one by one, suddenly.
The shadow cast in that area, by other mushroom clusters, twists and forms crude shapes of hands, which make 2 clapping motions, then they return to normal shadows.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Lariel says to Leona "Can you cast a spell to detect magic, maybe?"
As the mushrooms applaud the group, Lariel looks up from the pond and exclaims "Did.. did you see that?" He has to pinch himself to prevent himself from panicking. This is a lot more than missing villagers., he thinks to himself.

Vasaam Cathan |

Vasaam casts detect magic and scans the area. "Anything in particular that I should be looking for?"

Mary Dawnrose |

The ring is thoroughly checked for magical auras, but none are found.
Still, it could be sold, and profit is always convenient.
You should be fine now, lets either get back to work, or cooking up that crab for a meal before we continue
Do you have firewood to start a bonfire with? Along with the items to light a fire? :)
The deeper pool could be dived into, but this time roll a d20 if yo go off exploring. Not a swim check, just a flat d20.
The other way to continue, is a fork in the cavern system.
Clear dripping sounds up ahead.
You make out some muttering. It doesn't sound gutteral like sahuagin do, though. But it's unclear what actually -is- making the sound.
There is steady sound of movement, can't quite determine the amount of creatures/people/? that makes the steps, but you'll likely run into something soon by going here.

Vasaam Cathan |

Perception Left: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Perception Right: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
"We can cook up the crab later. If we find the people there should be enough for them too.... I hear some movement there to the right."

Coraline Sealen |

Hearing nothing but trusting her new companions who have saved her life enough times, she will trust their calls on the direction enemies will be coming from.
" Perhaps we should gather to cook the crab, and have our new friends join us. But first, we prepare for more combat against this new threat."
Coraline then gets ready with her spear to attack any hostile creatures that come to them.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Perception left: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Perception right: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Lariel says "Funny... I don't hear anything from the right. But from the left... I hear some dripping sounds and a... muttering of some sort. Nothing like we heard from the sahuagin, but I can't really tell what it is."
Just realizing how ominous he must be sounding, the half-elf tries smiling, but it comes off a little creepy.

Mary Dawnrose |

You are aware they are there, but they weren't said to be approaching you.
Tonight's busy, so i'll have the post on your exploring of the tunnel(s) tomorrow.

Mary Dawnrose |

Sorry for the delay.
Treading into the right tunnel, you now start to hear a gutteral & gurgling conversation.
You come upon natural hole in the floor, 10ft wide, the floor some 15 ft lower. Below is a group of about 5 sahuagin, one grabbing another by the neck, pushing it violently against the wall.
#1: "What is wrong with your mind? Who is this 'lady' you suddenly so seek to please? The only one you must follow is the priestess!"
#2: "The Lady, she is beautiful. She may not speak, but this must be a trial, that we must solve. Offerings and sacrifices, surely her speech will return. She has even surfacers working for her."
The first punches the 2nd in the scaly abdomen.
#1: "We have come across one of the surfacers already. He will do as a true sacrifice to the priestess in the colony. Now, where is this lady?"
#2: "Ah, you need to see her beauty to understand. We met her at the oasis, the place where plants still grow in this barren place. To the north, in the lower level underneath. But you shouldn't hurt the lady."
#1: (gutteral laugh, turns into a growl)
The conversation ends with the aggressive sahuagin taking a sharp coral blade, and stabbing the other in the abdomen. Some gurgling ensues, and the four sahuagin leave the 5th on the floor in a growing puddle of blood.
On the other side of the hole, the distant sight of an area plenty with water, with small natural islands.

Mary Dawnrose |

Listening to the women, Lariel takes a moment to make up his mind then rushes to help the wounded sahuagin.
[dice=Heal]1d20+5
An aid another would bring us over that nice 20 =)
Rushing over, would involve quickly leaping down to 15ft below. Make a DC 15 acrobatics check to ignore 1d6 falling dmg. Or, if anyone still has rope on them, you get down in 1 round, DC5 if knotted.
