I mean, someone stole the horses and I imagine they left tracks to follow? Unless they're a high level druid. Lariel has a bad taste in his mouth leaving the gnomes dry. Also, did the gnomes not jump in surprise when Lariel appeared? Technically they didn't know he was around.

The gnomes likely have been quite surprised off screen.
I understand that the task is complete. But Vasaam doesn't feel right that the gnomes got cheated. Also, if the actual thieves don't get caught they'll likely come back and steak more, possibly stealing the same horses again....
