.Arrian |

Shouting loud enough to be heard over a vast distance, "FIGHT DOWN HERE - ZOMBIES!"
Is there a battle map? I see the map for the Sanitorium and the stairs down but no room per se for us to set up.
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Assuming Religion since zombies are usually undead.
Arrian calls upon the power of Cayden Cailean to pronounce Judgement upon his foes!
Holding off on an attack roll to see if the caster is undead and, if so, if it has any DR to account for.

"Alicia" |

Do they truely pay you enough? Is fighting Paladins something that came up during recruitment? And fighting Paladins armored in full plate, wielding weapons of war, while you likely have... a few saps, perhaps shortswords and daggers? Have your employers outfitted or trained you in any way shape or form for open warfare against trained, heavily armed opposition that outnumbers you and has magical means?
She asks, politely, yet and undertone of steel creeps into her voice
A salary is no reason to risk death for a likely evil cause. Simply sit this one out. Is this truely your fight?
Lady Kelinahat looks quite kindly on those who give information about evil plans, and her sworn warriors are to protect such sources from retribution.
She adds, before her voice goes one octave lower
intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
I think the game wants these 2 alive
Alternatively, your draw your saps, I draw my polearm and we duke it out here. I wont kill you or maim you, but you will wake up concussed and tied up. Or you skip the concussion and simply surrender.
as she threatens them.
Is there a check if we hear Arrian?
perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

Ano Clovermark |

Ano cusses internally, realizing a bigger fight is about to happen. She can't activate her bloodrage again, so she's going to have to fight the old fashioned way, heading towards the closest zombie with her rapier out.
Rapier Attack, Fatigue + Power Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 - 1 - 2 = 12
Rapier Damage, Fatigue + Power Attack: 1d6 + 3 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 1 + 4 = 11
Unfortunately she overextends herself and whiffs badly.

@Arrian: Man.... I set up a separate map for the basement, put all the pictures in it, then.... forgot to post the link to you guys. Way to go me... Anyway, link on top. I put in a separate file because the resolution for the basement map is vastly different for the ground floor, so it looks really weird if I put both in the same file. Anyway, the wizard is very much alive. You beat the zombies knowledge DC by more than 5, so ask a question.
@Alicia: It's close enough to hear, no check necessary. I'll just roll init for everyone on top.
Alicia initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Donimah initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Ethan initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Juriya initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Brothers initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Despite being clumsy, Ano actually manages to pierce the zombie. However, her attack only pierces dead skin, and it clearly was supposed to damage it more than it did.
Everyone can act, but Alicia needs to account for the brothers' action (they'll continue to run down).

.Arrian |

@GM: It's okay on the map I was just confused. :) Zombie question: What kind of special defenses (DR, immunities, resistances) do they have? I'll make a roll on the wizard for Bane purposes; if he's not a humanoid let me know whether to roll Arcana, Dungeoneering, Planes, or Nature.
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
If the zombies have the typical DR Arrian I'll roll an attack using his falchion. If it's something different I'll roll the correct damage; just trying to expedite the action.
Current modifiers: +2 to hit from Judgement (Justice), +1 from Ferocious Loyalty, and +1 to damage from whetstone.
MW Falchion: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 282d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 + 1 = 10
Crit?
MW Falchion: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 292d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 + 1 = 10
On red zombie.

Juriya Arima |

"PLEASE. PLEASE BE JUJU ZOMBIES," Juriya remarks as she skedaddles down to the basement, hoping the zombies are intelligent enough to feint.
Double move.

I like runes |

It has DR 5/slashing.
Arrian passes the zombie, opening up his defenses to it, then slices it in two. The other (yellow) was ready for him and also attacks.
I forgot to do the ready action against Ano, but it's too late now.
Red AoO vs Arrian: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 101d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Yellow ready action vs Arrian: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Arrian, take 6 bludgeoning damage from yellow's ready action.
Meanwhile, the two brothers approach and each draws a shortsword.
Alicia is up, then wizard again.

"Alicia" |

Alicia draws her polearm as she moves, following the brothers.
Zombies? While not all necromancy is illegal, raising the dead without their expressed consent is.
She states matter of factly as she sees the yellow lined zombie.
I am reasonably certain that the discovery of your employer being a necromancer legally entitles you to break any contract with him for cause, at least according to Magnimarian law. I encourage you to do so, unless you wish to be seen as accomplices.
As she does this, the angelic choir aura around her still goes on, and both Juriya and Ano benefit from protection from evil, although the boni to deflection-AC and saving throws-resistance are +3 not +2.
diplomacy or intimidate: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29 the bonus is +3 if its intimidation
bluff as to why she spends so much time trying to talk the brothers into surrender if you want a hunch on that: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Alicia seems to clearly empathize with other tieflings, perhaps more so then with humans to an extent, and genuinely wants to offer them the same chance she was offered. While she is aware of them having a slight evil aura, that doesnt, in her view, make them instant villains to be slain.

Juriya Arima |

Juriya grumbles at the realization that these zombies are likely NOT intelligent, and she prepares to burn them all with her bombs.

"Alicia" |

I used Alicias actual character art on the map, so the white haired demon lady in full plate is her. She doesnt have the ornamental head tatoo or the thorned crown like headgear though.

@Alicia: Thanks for the update. I am in awe with this portrait, it looks so awesome! Makes me think of Galadriel, namely the scene in the Jackson Two Towers where she becomes the Dark Lady as she is tempted by the Ring.
The two brothers do seem to hear the paladin, but this makes them more confused than peaceful. They look at Habe inquisitively.
Meanwhile, the wizard says "Do something, doctor, you have a knife, don't you?" Then, he pulls out an egg from a pouch and uses it to cast a spell. A huge purple cloud forms that stinks like rotten egg. Its smell is overwhelming. It is very thick as well, and you can't see through it.
Any creature within 5ft has concealment, and those farther have total concealment. Darkvision doesn't help.
Arrian, Ano and Juri roll for now. Anyone passing through it can hold their breath, but must roll if they end their turn in it. Funnily enough, having the scent ability doesn't give a penalty.
You are nauseated as long as you're in the cloud and for
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
rounds after.
Brother 1 Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Brother 2 Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
One of the tiefling brothers (closer to the stairs) starts puking on the ground.
The wizard says "You, get here, and you, here." The doctor pulls out a dagger, but doesn't otherwise move.
Everyone but Alicia can act.

Juriya Arima |

Fort Save v. Poison: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 2 = 17 HAGFISH!
Juriya coughs, but otherwise remains steadfast. "Thank you, idiot younger me, for thinking you could handle the hagfish challenge." Assuming the tiefling doesn't srrender, she then takes a swipe and sidesteps out of the cloud to not risk breathing any more in.
... Granted, the one she's poking at with her rapier is the one puking on the ground, but Juri isn't exactly a saint, now is she.
Concealment? High is good.: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Bluff (v. Outsider), Inspiration: 1d20 + 15 - 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 15 - 4 + (2) = 18
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Sneak Attack?: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

"Alicia" |

It really took me a while to find a portrait of a "basically Succubus, in full plate, who does not look overly sexualized and more serene/majestic". Galadriel tempted by the ring was also what I thought!

Juriya Arima |

Oh, s@**, it's another room? In that case... s~!+ she might have to brave the poison, but lighting a fuse is not an attack action so after I actually got off my ass to do the alchemical crafting rolls, I'm a bit less concerned about her being totally useless!
Feint (Move). Attack (Standard). 5-foot step. (She couldn't move as far as you made her, as her feint-attack routine takes up an entire round, so I moved her in the cloud)

.Arrian |

Fort: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 = 25
Also inured to retched smells (and tastes) thanks to Norah, Arrian steps forward and calls upon Cayden's hatred of oppression to focus his attacks.
5' step out of the cloud, swift action for Bane vs. undead. Attack modifiers:
Masterwork Falchion: +1 to hit
Justice (Judgement): +2 sacred bonus to hit
Bane (Undead): +2 to hit, +2+2d6 to damage
Power Attack: -2 to hit for +6 to damage
Furious Focus: Negates Power Attack penalty on first attack
MW Falchion: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 182d4 + 4 + 2 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 + 2 + (3, 6) + 6 = 23

Ano Clovermark |

Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Ano prepares to fight, but the tiniest whiff of the stentch causes her to throw up badly.

Juriya Arima |

... CRAP that's a d20 for concealment. When am I going to learn to stop doing these things half-awake?! I already tried moving through a wall

Juriya Arima |

Juriya pauses as she fumbles with her magnum opus, given the room size. "... Note to self: get a sap."

.Arrian |

Juriya pauses as she fumbles with her magnum opus, given the room size. "... Note to self: get a sap."
"How many times have I said that??? And I knew Ano ate the last cookie!"

Ano Clovermark |

Ano will do that
After losing her lunch, Ano scrambles away from the cloud, gasping for breath. 30 ft move to get out of cloud

Juriya Arima |

"I'm addicted to the rapier, okay? Anyways, Ano, sorry if I get your fur wet!" Juriya says with an utterly manic grin as she's eager to test her creation in the enclosed space.

Ano Clovermark |

“What the hell are you talking about?!” Ano asked in distraught, clearly not in the best of moods.

Juriya Arima |

She holds up the firework and smirks.

Ethan Sower |

Ethan meets up with Alicia and Donimah at the top of the basement stairway, but between the crowd and the cloud, he cannot see well enough to take any action other than to offer a prayer for the party's success.
(Ethan casts Bless on the party.)

"Alicia" |

Alicas eyes flare a bit as one tiefling goes down. She descends into the mist.
fortitude: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
bite attack non lethal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
concealment high is good: 1d100 ⇒ 14
She stumbles into the thiefling, and tries to headbut him into unconciousness, but the mist like conditions cause her to miss.

Juriya Arima |

Sense Motive auto-succeed. The attack DOES hit though. AC is only 16 when unbuffed.
"You dare use my own tricks against me? Going to have to study, and if necessary, I don't think your brother is dead yet, presumably unconscious and bleeding out."

Donimah Southlander |

Donimah looks at the wizard and glowers, wondering if maybe this grim, silent act she'd been putting on since arriving made her seem more intimidating.
Then she looks down at the cambion thugs, the one still standing and the other bleeding.
"Tell me true...is the good Doctor's money really worth losing your lives over?"

"Alicia" |

You AC is 3 higher because he is evil and you are within 20 feet of me, angelic bond is still going on. The DC for feinting is static by the way,
The DC of this check is equal to 10 + your opponent’s base attack bonus + your opponent’s Wisdom modifier. If your opponent is trained in Sense Motive, the DC is instead equal to 10 + your opponent’s Sense Motive bonus, if higher. If successful, the next melee attack you make against the target does not allow him to use his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any). This attack must be made on or before your next turn.
When feinting against a non-humanoid you take a –4 penalty. Against a creature of animal Intelligence (1 or 2), you take a –8 penalty. Against a creature lacking an Intelligence score, it’s impossible. Feinting in combat does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Penalty vs non humanoid may apply, since tieflings are outsiders, and Juriya for her part would be a Kitsune (shaperchanger subtype).

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Thanks for clarifying Alicia. @Juri: For some reason I read the attack as having a total of 3. Anyway, you take 3 damage.
The wizard looks at Arrian angrily and says "Die!" then takes a leaf, what looks like an animal's stomach and a dart. After using these things to cast a spell, the dart flies towards Arrian.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 222d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 62d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4
The dart hits Arrian and burns him with acid.
@Arrian: take 7 acid damage.
Then the two zombies behind him walk towards Arrian.
Everyone but Alicia is up

.Arrian |

Attack modifiers:
Masterwork Falchion: +1 to hit
Justice (Judgement): +2 sacred bonus to hit
Bane (Undead): +2 to hit, +2+2d6 to damage
Power Attack: -2 to hit for +6 to damage
Furious Focus: Negates Power Attack penalty on first attack
Haste: +1 to hit, +1 AC, +1 Reflex save, one additional attack with full attack
Bless: +1 morale bonus to hit
Arrian's fury builds as the pain from the acid sizzles.
MW Falchion: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 212d4 + 4 + 2 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 + 2 + (1, 2) + 6 = 22
And, thanks to the magic of Donimah, moves in a blur to strike again:
MW Falchion: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 242d4 + 4 + 2 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 + 2 + (2, 6) + 6 = 27
@GM: Purple zombie first then green.

Juriya Arima |

Juriya sighs, and puts the firework away. "I don't think this works on tieflings, sadly. No getting wet today."
Fort: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 2 = 22
Bluff: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
She whiffs, clearly a bit too invested in what could have been, but she wisely steps away.

Ano Clovermark |

I'm assuming Ano is still fatigued
Despite being in not the best shape, Ano slowly drags herself closer to the wizard.
Since she can't attack I'm having her just move 10 ft

.Arrian |

I'm assuming Ano is still fatigued

We're going to need a bunch of swings since the wizard has mirror image and displacement in effect.

Ethan Sower |

On the next round, I can shoot at the images with Precise Shot, and hopefully dispel one. I am on the stairs, but my icon is still on the upstairs map.

.Arrian |

On the next round, I can shoot at the images with Precise Shot, and hopefully dispel one. I am on the stairs, but my icon is still on the upstairs map.
Okay or maybe Channel? Arrian is down 13. I didn't want to risk the Concentration check and, with Haste, I gambled on Arrian taking down both zombies to reduce the number of threats.

Ethan Sower |

Ethan moves down the stairs to the edge, but not into, the cloud. He then calls upon Erastil's power to send waves of healing energy into the basement.
Channel Energy, 30' radius: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) = 12
From the empty square on the staircase just outside the cloud, this should be able to reach Arrian and pretty much everyone else in the basement.

Juriya Arima |

Juriya pulls out a bomb. "Hm. Donimah, do splash weapons dispel mirror image if aimed correctly?" Juriya smiles as she's back to full health.
A bomb might be able to get them all? Displacement is a different story.
