Was the artifact also described? I figured it was just the ritual that was described, but perhaps the description contains a clue about what the artifact looks like?

The candelabra is the artifact. The notes described the arcane sigil, and you had to hunt for the sigil.

PSA: Champion's reaction gives resistance against every type of damage, so in cases like this where multiple damage types of inflicted, it is absurdly effective!
