Rybar Gannon |
Rybar suggests that the group goes to meet up with Calisro Bennary first, so that they can ask questions about the location they're headed.
"Hopefully we can walk into the site better informed."
Moist Definitely |
Moist joins up with the group after receiving his letter.
Team Risotto is joined again! You know, technically I'm part of the Envoy's Alliance, so Fola is my leader. But, being honest, it was more a quick decision when I joined and I haven't had the chance to talk with her about unifying the nations of the world with good cooking! I wonder if the Dark Archive has a recipes section...
Otherwise, Moist is happy to agree to chat with Calisro first. After their last outing he seems to have looked into the history of the Blackwood swamp, and briefs the team on why it exists and how it got to be the way that it is.
I didn't meet anybody who'd seen the hydra with their own eyes though... I'm really glad Rain didn't run into that before we got to him!
Post 200!
Olegaro |
"Team Risotto, I guess that's the name that is sticking!" Olegaro says with a smile.
"Thanks for the briefing Moist - all good to know. I certainly hope we can say well clear of any hydra. They sound fearsome. Anyway, it doesn't sound like there are any Radiant Oath representatives here so I don't have any preference who to see." but then he thinks for a second "However, now that we know that Chief Thakik needs help, I think we should talk to her as soon as we can."
He then turns to Fola Barun "Venture Captain, do we know anything about how Igix went missing? They aren't one of the scouts we met last time."
Post 200!
Nice one! Still a handful before Olegaro hits that milestone.
GM Frost |
It looks like Fola needs their immediate help that she already meets them in the site.
"I hope you don't mind if I will borrow you first for the mission I have for you. Time is of the essence here, actually." Fola explains to them.
"And no, I am not a venture-captain but a faction leader of Envoy's Alliance. Factions are like fellowships of like-minded adventurers who strive together to achieve common goals. As the leader of the Envoy's Alliance faction, we are dedicated to recruiting new agents, rescuing Pathfinders in distress, and rebuilding the Society in a way that supports and values operatives’ lives and wellbeing—at least as much as one can in the adventuring world." she adds.
"I don't have information about the scout, you might want to ask the chief to know more."
“I want you go to the Tskikha enclave and meet with their leader, Chief Thakik. Tell her that you wish to aid them in whatever way you can. Your primary mission is to build trust and prove that Pathfinders are worthy allies.” Fola pauses a moment and her face fills with concern.
“If you’re asked to undertake dangers on behalf of the Tskikha, please be careful. While alliances are important, the safety of our agents is worth more to me. Too many Pathfinders have been lost heedlessly charging into danger.
---
The faction leader dismisses them and the Pathfinders look for the chief.
The trip from base camp to the enclave takes only 30 minutes. Past a ring of sharpened stakes stands a cluster of low mounds that rise above the rest of the swamp. Smoke curls from holes in the top of each mound. A few iruxi curiously peer out from behind flaps in the entrances.
At the largest mound, they find Chief Thakik and her best scout, Kazuuk.
An imposing iruxi woman sits atop a throne crafted from the bones of several swamp animals. “So, you are the ones sent?"[/b]
“There is a hill nearby, topped with an ancient structure. It’s of little interest to us, but two days ago, a scout of our enclave, Igix, disappeared near there. We were about to send Kazuuk,” the chief points to another iruxi, “to see what he can learn. But with you here, we can test the quality of the Pathfinders, yes?
“Accompany Kazuuk to the ruin and learn what happened to our scout. Overcome any trouble you find. Kazuuk will see what you are capable of. Impress him, and you will have my trust.”
"If you have questions, ask Kazuuk," the chief tells them before they are dismissed and Kazuuk happily leads them out of the base.
This is your chance to ask questions. And I forgot to ask about your Pathfinder Provisions.
Olegaro |
On the way out of the camp, Olegaro will pick up a potency crystal and attach it to his longsword. (pathfinder provisions selection)
Ah venture-captains, factions leaders - I'll never get this sorted out" Olegaro will say, shaking his head, as they head off to the village.
--
Later when they are sent off with Kazuuk, Olegaro will say "Great to see you again Kazuuk! It sounds like your tribe has been investigating the ruins some more? Have you found much of interest?"
and will also ask "And could you tell us a bit about Igix and why they were at the structure please?"
Rybar Gannon |
Rybar will drop by the Provisioner's officer to take a scroll of heal.
On the way to the ruins, he asks Kazuuk "What can we expect at the ruins?"
Ōtani Yoshitsugu. |
The Oracle follows Rybar. He also grabs a Scroll of Heal.
Papercuts are the worse.
The Tengu then accompanies the other Pathfinder Agents to see an Iruxi about some ruins....
Hanu, Friend of the Wood |
Hanu sizes up Kazuuk.
He bows to him, and makes brisk tracks.
Moist Definitely |
Hmph. Our quality as expendable, eh?
Moist does not appreciate Kazuuk's tone, asking
Why is it no interest to you that one of your scouts disappeared? Do you have many to spare?
Zepth. |
Arriving somewhat late into the scene, Zepth apologises as he was busy running some errands and had to catch up with everyone.
Somewhat naive, Zepth seems to be psyched about being to help the Iruxi, though the quality comment keeps on lingering on his mind. "What does that mean?"
Busy week, sorry for taking so long to catch up. On provisions, Zepth will take a Runic Weapon scroll.
Hanu, Friend of the Wood |
Hanu turns to an offended Moist, puts his hand on his back - wet! - and immediately withdraws it.
Aside to Moist
"Dealings with adventurers, for a small community, can be challenging. Let us prove to them that we are not expendable. Their concern for locating Igix is clear through their agreement to participate. Squandering this opportunity with hot-headed diplomacy would damage twicefold: The Pathfinder's standing with the World, and the Tskikha's understanding of people outside of their enclave" he almost puts his hand on his back again, then remembers "The high road, let us travel!"
Moist Definitely |
Moist sighs in response to Hanu's counsel.
I know it is true. I just would have hoped our last success earned a little trust. However, you are right, onward and upward. Perhaps after we succeed in the ruins I can think of a different recipe they'll like!
GM Frost |
Later when they are sent off with Kazuuk, Olegaro will say "Great to see you again Kazuuk! It sounds like your tribe has been investigating the ruins some more? Have you found much of interest?"
and will also ask "And could you tell us a bit about Igix and why they were at the structure please?"
"Not much so far aside from your fellow Rain discovered, but we keep scouting the area." Kazuuk replies.
"Igix is one of our scouts. It is true that the swamp holds many dangers. It could be something like a hungry alligator or a group of human thieves. What I know is that Igix didn’t get lost. He is too skilled for that."
On the way to the ruins, he asks Kazuuk "What can we expect at the ruins?"
"You already been in the ruins right? We know that the ruins is probably human made. Very old. They’ve been here longer than our tribe. I suppose they’re probably filled with trouble. Aren’t most ancient ruins that way?"
Why is it no interest to you that one of your scouts disappeared? Do you have many to spare?
"Don't get me wrong, I do. It is just that I am excited to see you all again. The chief has given me a task for you, other than looking for Igix, while we are on our way. The chief wants to ensure that Pathfinders are capable allies, so she can decide on the future alliance of our enclave with the Pathfinders."
So I will be the judge on our tribe's behalf. All you have to do is impress me, either with impression, knowledge, or skill. Anything for me, I am easy to please."
Kazuuk is currently Friendly to everyone. First, each of you can improve that to Helpful with a DC 16 Diplomacy to Make an Impression. If you Succeed, you gain +1 circumstance bonus on all checks to impress Kazuuk. You can forego this check and proceed to the next.
Next is you impress him and earn Impression Points: 2 for Crit Success, 1 for Success, and -1 for Crit Failure. Describe how you will impress Kazuuk and roll the appropriate skill, such as Diplomacy, Performance, or Society skill check to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and diplomatic skill; Recall Knowledge using Arcana, Lore (any kind), Nature, Occultism, or Religion check to impress Kazuuk with useful bit of information; Deception check to invent an interesting-sounding bit of “knowledge"; Acrobatics, Athletics, Crafting, Medicine, or Survival skill check to impress Kazuuk by demonstrating an impressive ability or technique that Kazuuk finds useful. Each can attempt two checks to impress Kazuuk.
In short, make a check to improve Kazuuk's attitude toward you, and then followed by two skill checks to earn Impression Points. Go.

A cracked structure, coated with creeping tendrils of moss and lichen, rises from the swamps atop a low hill ahead. The air is still here, as if waiting for a breath of wind. Even the usually noisy cries of animals fall silent close to the building. A set of broad stairs facing southeast lead up into darkness.
"We settled in the area long ago and prefer to stay away from the ruins, as we know that ruins can be dangerous. We feared that if word of the ruins were to spread, we might attract unwanted attention. To us, the place is merely a landmark along a patrol route in our lands. Despite our efforts, trouble arose in the swamps as of late. The scout who regularly patrols this area, Igix, reported signs of several dangerous creatures moving into the ruins. Unfortunately, he disappeared and haven't heard from him since."
As they approach the steps of the ruins, they find Igix bound, gagged, and badly hurt. When suddenly...

For rescuing Igix from his captors, the PCs earn an additional 2 Impression Points. Having earned a total of 12+2 Impression Points, you have impressed Kazuuk.
Once they deal with the threat and learn Igix’s fate, they easily return to the iruxi village, of which the Pathfinders and Igix are treated. Everyone is now at full HP. Kazuuk meets privately with the chief before they are summoned to hear what the iruxi leader decides.
Eventually, Chief Thakik once again sits atop her bone throne, but now the hint of a smile tugs at the corners of her mouth. “Kazuuk tells us you were quite impressive! This is good to hear. I wish to learn more of what you found, and I’m certain the Tskikha and the Pathfinder Society have a bright future ahead!”
"And thank you for rescuing Igix. He needs a few days' rest to recover but he is okay now, thanks to you."
Upon their return to the faction leader, Fola Barun congratulates them on a job well done for accomplishing both tasks. She encourages them to assist any of the faction leaders who still have outstanding missions.
Who's next: Eando Kline (Vigilant Seal), Gorm Greathammer (Grand Archive), or Calisro Benarry (Horizon Hunters)?
Hanu, Friend of the Wood |
Hanu does a somersault, much others might bow or curtsy, as a way to say "My pleasure"
He starts heading towards Eando Kline, Gorm Greathammer, or Calisro Benarry?: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Calisro Benarry to see what she has in store for them!
Ōtani Yoshitsugu. |
Otani Yoshitsugu formally bows and salutes Chief Thakik once presented before him.
Honors to you and your Tribe. We welcome this friendship.
The Oracle nods at Hanu.
Calisro Benarry of the Horizon Hunters seems prudent.
Moist Definitely |
Hmm, I hear she’s piratey. Yeah, let’s go see what that’s about!
He follows his already-decided companions to see her.
GM Frost |
A striking figure leans casually against one of the ancient columns that juts from the surrounding swamp. She is a half-orc dressed like a fashionable sea captain, complete with tricorn hat.
“Isn’t it exciting?” she asks, her rough voice deep and full of command. “Fresh out on your first missions and already exploring Azlanti ruins? I once thought the high seas were the only place for true adventure, but the Pathfinders have shown me otherwise!” She pauses and deeply inhales the air. “I’m Calisro Benarry, leader of the Horizon Hunters. We Horizon Hunters get most excited by exploration. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of knowing you’re somewhere no one else has been in a thousand years! Or even better, finding a place no one has ever seen before. Admittedly, we sometimes get a little overeager to be the first, but that’s all part of the true joy of discovery.”[/b]
“Since you are a bit new to the Pathfinder Society, I want to give you your first taste of that same thrill. Through that tunnel,” she says, nodding toward a dark hole leading into the hillside, “is an Azlanti ruin where no Pathfinder has ever explored. I have to admit, I’m more than a little jealous!"
“Your job is to explore the area and report your findings to me. Questions?”
Olegaro |
Olegaro will look over to the hole and then back to Calisro "Do we know anything about this ruin, or others like it in the area?"
Moist Definitely |
Moist rubs the top of his head with a wet, webbed hand.
Yeah, is there anything that makes this ruin unique or is it an entrance much like many that have been found before?
