After departing Cassomir, they begin their investigation of the adjacent Blackwood Swamp by travelling north. The area outside Cassomir is boggy wetland filled with dangers at every turn, especially as they get further from the relative safety of the city.

As they explore the swamp, they eventually come across a dangerous patch of swampy quicksand, but Zepth is quick to notice it and urgently warns them!

Once they bypass the swampy quicksand, they continue their journey. As they near the end of their first day of travel through the Blackwood Swamp, the Pathfinders reach a section of the swamp where a downed tree trunk blocks the path forward. As they make their way through the path, a group of wild predators comes upon them!

Hanu looks into the sky, his chisled monkey features handsome and with a bearing of patient calm; his eyes take in the clouds themselves, luminous and full of water, on the breach of moisture, and pregnant with the primal element of electricity, and he yearns to be among them, to join in the mischief of the heavens, to frolic from one soft white cushion to the next, as like a god skipping between realms, or a frog hopping between lilly pads... He calls to them!

His plea is heard, the pout of his playful lips with stuckout tongue, serious now in the morning glow, the dew sticking to his fur as his electromagnetic aura creates static energy fields around them - to which the clouds up high seem to take notice, for an arc thunders down from the firmament with a KRACKOOOM! right into the spawn of whatever foulness was bred from the swamp.

But so, the arc forks!

A second strike of lightning scalds the ground before the party - narrowly missing the chisled faces of Rybar, Otani, Olegaro - the Frontline of the unnamed party! - spurning new growth to spring forth from the ground even in this cold, fetid winter - Lo! - a Tree of Scintillating Rainbow unfolds so many branches in a matter of seconds, it's soft wooden twig hardening into stern, chisled bark, and standing over the men as tall as any one of them twice, it's leaves brushing tenderly against those who now enjoy it's shade - protecting them from whatever dangers crawl forth from the muck...

Seeing that Rybar's health is easily dealt with, the iruxi introduces himself.

"My name's Kazuuk. I and my company here live in the nearby enclave. It would be best if you were careful when wandering in this area. We recently found a fungus leshy that is lost here, just like you. Are you lost though?"

Upon hearing that they are Pathfinders, Kazuuk is thrilled to know it. "Pathfinders? Wow, the leshy we found, name's Rain, is also a Pathfinder! He has been staying with us for some time and he is also in the enclave. Are Pathfinders meant to get lost though?"

Looking at the eliminated threats, Kazuuk informs them that they are festrogs. "Let's get out of here, as festrogs stalk victims in pack, we might be outnumbered if we are unaware of them."

He motions everyone to follow them. The iruxi enclave of Tskikha is a day‘s march north of Cassomir, putting it roughly two hours from the location where they encountered the festrogs. The enclave is an assemblage of huts and semi-permanent structures built on several pieces of elevated land in the swampland.

After Kazuuk leads the Pathfinders to the enclave, he takes them directly to meet Chief Thakik, who dwells in a solitary hut a short walk from the larger enclave and closer to the ruins. As they approach, Chief Thakik rests in her hut at the end of a long day of hunting with other members of the enclave, but she quickly gets up to greet the newcomers.

“Greetings, you must be more Pathfinders. It is an honor to meet you. I am Chief Thakik of the Tskikha Enclave, and I am responsible for all who dwell here, including your lost friend, Rain in Cloudy Day.”

But before they get a chance to engage the chief in conversation, shouts of panic come from outside. The Pathfinders quickly get to the scene when Kazuuk calls them out for help. With him is the fungus leshy Rain.
