Jakivi just shrugs at Moist's statement. "If you say so." he tells the grippli.

Their food arrives, their meals fresh and hot from the kitchen. "Your meal is on the house, brave souls. If you are done and ready, I will direct you to the stable on the edge of town where the caravan is getting ready to take off." he adds before he returns to his post as if he hears what Rybar is whispering to the group.

When the group is done eating, the innkeeper leads them to where the caravan is and bids them safe travels before he leaves them.

Everyone begins with one hero point each, and for those with glyphs, this is your chance to share them for extra hero points.

It’s hard for them to miss the eclectic group of travelers gathered at the stables. Two half-orcs joke with one another as they load supplies into two wagons, each with a team of jet-black horses. The half-orcs are nearly identical down to the stripes on their shirts, though one has her long black hair gathered into a ponytail and the other keeps his cropped short.

"Hello! I suppose you are the guards who will be joining us? I am Andri and this is my brother Arek." the woman half-orc introduces herself and her twin. Soon, three passengers reveal themselves to greet the group.

"You can call me Xanthus Shurgun, a professor of University of Lepidstadt." half-orc in flowing academic robes indicative of his status as a faculty member at the University of Lepidstadt tells the group. "I am traveling to Caliphas by way of the countryside so that I can better understand the agricultural conditions along the border of the Gravelands."

Behind him is a dwarf. "Call me Eigil Jorgund, a farmer. I am heading to Caliphas to establish relations with marketplace vendors, many of whom have lost business due to the perilous roads."

Finally a tall Varisian woman dressed in a colorful patchwork skirt, its pattern seeming to have no beginning or end also introduces herself. "Kisaya, Kisaya Sitari. I am a seamstress traveling to Caliphas in search of new fabrics and colors to improve my selection of adornments."

"What are your names, brave guards of this caravan?" the seamstress asks them.

Extra hero points noted.

After they are introduce themselves, the twin motions them to get inside the caravan so they can begin travel. "Hop in and let's begin our travel!" The twins finish loading the cargo and the caravan sets off for Caliphas.

The first day passes largely uneventfully, and the travelers happily converse with their guards as they journey through the forest. As the sun starts to set, the drivers pull into a clearing to make camp for the night. As the members of the caravan begin cooking the evening meal and setting up camp, an argument arises between Xanthus the scholar and the farmer Eigil over which is more important.

"Of course, the knowledge of how to cultivate crops is more important," the scholar argues. "I don't think so, the physical skills of planting and harvesting is more important." the farmer counteracts. The argument starts good-naturedly but quickly heats up as each begins to feel that the other is dismissing the importance of their contributions.

As the argument escalates, you can stand by or step in to placate one or both of the travelers. Each PC can attempt a single DC 15 skill check to contribute to the conversation and help each party understand the other’s perspective. A PC who succeeds at a Nature or Academia Lore check can help explain the merits of theory and knowledge, while a PC who succeeds at an Athletics or Farming Lore check can describe the merits of practice and physical work. Alternatively, a PC can attempt a DC 17 Deception, Diplomacy, or Intimidation check to convince Xanthus and Eigil to end the squabble..

I'll just assume everyone takes a few hours to watch by pair

During their watch, Moist hears crackling leaves and a faint howl that is clearly distant. Searching the area, the grippli finds little else but trees. The same happens when Rybar takes his watch. What could that be?

Then comes the next day, everyone being well-rested and in a good mood. The second day is drizzly and damp though. After packing up, they continue their travel. They occasionally hear sounds in the woods, such as snapping twigs, wind through the leaves, and the faint groaning of trees — or perhaps creatures. The seamstress, Kisaya, startles the other travelers when she stops. “Be quiet and listen! There’s someone sobbing out there.”

Nobody else hears anything, and there’s nothing to find. Kisaya laughs off the incident, but she sticks close to Hanu for the rest of the day and frequently glances over her shoulder.

After the group has stopped for a midday rest and traveled for a few more hours, an alarmed whinny comes from the pair of lead horses as the caravan comes to a dead stop. They find that the horses froze because the bridge over a small ravine ahead has been completely washed out. Arek shouts from his seat, "Do you mind doing something about that bridge? Andri and I need to keep the horses from spooking and sprinting off into the forest."

At this point, you must work together to bypass the obstacle. Each PC can attempt a single check (with the +1 circumstance bonus to your checks from above). You could repair the bridge by attempting an Athletics check to move the broken pieces back into place and then a Crafting or Survival check to lash them back together. Alternatively, you could attempt a Scouting Lore or Survival check to find another route, then a Nature check to coax the horses into traveling off the road. Other creative solutions are welcome, as long as your roleplay justifies it. I am looking for at least three successful checks.

Having successfully executed their plan to cross the ravine, the caravan reaches the camping spot for the night only slightly behind schedule.

As dawn breaks over the trees on the third day, deep fog covers the camp. The caravan members are uneasy as they pack up the campsite, repeatedly questioning them about their safety and urging each other to hurry.

"Are we safe? We must hurry!" The seamstress calls out their guards.

Moist looks up at the large, lumbering zombie. He sheepishly remarks

I don't think that thing dreams. Going to have to use physical means...

By this time several small rocks and pebbles encircle his being, making patterns of criss-crossing orbits around him. He motions for one of them to break its path and speed at the zombie.

Wow! Nice, congratulations!

Zepth moves and puts magic on Rybar's weapon. Olegaro steps and bludgeons the Big One with his flail. 16 B damage He then raises shield. Moist magically hurls a stone that bonks the Big One in the head. 7 B damage He then raises shield.

Another enemy closes in, a (Red) Small One carrying a scimitar and a weathered, broken shield displaying the symbol of Iomedae. It then attacks 1 Rybar, 2 Olegaro: 2d2 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 Rybar!

The Small One (Red) attacks again!

Oh, I forgot this one. Let me let that happen.

As Black approaches, Otani swings his katana at it! Adding +1 status bonus of Inspire Courage, it becomes Crit Success, that 9*2 S - 5 S resistance = 13 total, enough to eliminate Black.

Rybar assesses Red and finds it has no weakness. He picks up something that can trigger pseudo-weakness by including it in his attack. He connects on the first but not the second. 15 S - 5 S resistance = 10 total. Red is eliminated.

Holding off Otani's actions for Round 2

More hostile creatures reveal themselves! Blue shows itself and flies arrows at 1 Moist, 2 Rybar, 3 Olegaro: 2d3 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 Rybar and Moist
Shortbow Attack vs Rybar AC 17: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Shortbow Attack, MAP vs Moist w Shield AC 17+1: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 5 = 9

Yellow also shows up and does the same at 1 Hanu, 2 Rybar, 3 Olegaro: 2d3 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Shortbow Attack vs Olegaro w Shield AC 17+2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Shortbow Attack, MAP vs Olegaro w Shield AC 17+2: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 5 = 4

The target are lucky this time.

Otani, since Black is eliminated, you can have all your action back for Round 2.
