Probably going to aim for next Friday, so April 7th. If everyone that's here finish, I might close it early and pick then, but we'll see.

Very nice, a little over a week to put some more polish down.
The crunch is mostly done, just need to spend the initial xp.
Guess that's plenty of time to expand the backstory.

Yeah, you have plenty of time! I won’t close it early while people are still working, anyway.

Getting there with my Fanatic of the Adeptus Ministorum...

Willpower Reroll: 3d10 ⇒ (8, 5, 4) = 17+20 = 32

Emperor's Blessing: 1d10 ⇒ 6 (Threshold is 6+ so gains +1 Fate)

Heya guys, just checking in. How’s everyone’s progress going?

Dark Archive

I believe I am good to go.

I just need to finish up writing everything down on the character, then I too am done.

Ptah should be set to jet!

I have a backstory in my profile, though I haven't had a chance to answer the questions yet. Otherwise good to go.

Getting there - finalising a few things and sorting out my backstory/questions. Should be done by tomorrow.

I keep playing around with too many ideas, and it's slowing me down. They all build essentially the same mechanical character, it's just which backstory and role-playing vibe am I going for.

* Doctor turned PDF because of alien/chaos invasion
* Doctor conscripted into IG regiment against his will
* Talented IG field medic that learned in battle
* Clerical healer turned frateris militia that accompanied missionaries galaxia into frontier work

I will try to get it finalized this evening.

Aside from just filling in the stats for his weapons (haven't got the books right now), I believe I am done.
So I present Havelock Iacton, Imperial psyker, for your perusal.

I'll bow out. Character isn't coming together for me.

<waves>

Waves to Spaz - adieu old friend.

Am almost there - like Wanderer82 I've been jumping around trying to nail down the backstory of my hiver fanatic. One epiphany later last night and he's a survivor of Promethium plant explosion. Has burns scarring but was last worker standing... (the Emperor's will of course). Now want's to spread the credo of that cleansing flame to all the sinners...

Final version incoming o'er the course of today.

I'll be out of town all next week. I'll return on April 17th.

Need to roll for a Divination:

1d100 ⇒ 91

Hmm, now that Spazmodeus isn't submitting an assassin, should I pivot my penal-outcast-desperado to an assassin?

Apologies for my absence and silence, have been quite busy with things lately.

I’ll be taking today to look over the completed applicants, and will make and announce my decision tomorrow afternoon. Thanks to all who entered. The Emperor protects!

Black Dow's Adeptus Ministorum Fanatic for your perusal GM.

Content/format of the profile is WIP but have listed the 20 Answers to the 20 Questions below. (Tried where possible to intertwine lore gleaned from online on the Gilead system):

20 Answers:

1. What is your character’s name?: Born one Quaiden Voss, he now goes by his Ecclesiarchy given name of Calidas.
2. How old is your character?: 23 Standard Terran Year Cycles.
3. What would somebody see at first glance (i.e. height, weight, skin colour, eye colour, hair colour, physique, race, and visible equipment)?: Brother Calidas is tall, some 6ft in height and strong of build from years of assembly line labour. His skin is pale having grown up in the sunless sprawl of the lower hive and eyes are slate grey. As a recent noviciate of the Ecclesiarchy he keeps his head shaved. He proudly wears Imperial robes and carries on his personage the tools of his trade: flamer, chainsword, pack and servo-skull.
4. What additional attributes would be noticed upon meeting the character (i.e. Speech, mannerisms)?: Calidas studies those he meets and engages with. It is difficult to determine if his questions are mundane or contain some hidden test that only he seems privy to. When speaking of the tenets of his faith his zealousness comes to the fore.
5. Where was your character born? Where were you raised? By who?: Born on Gilead Primus, the capital world of the Gilead System, for the majority of his life Calidas was raised in Hive Gulgatha’s manufactorum hab 777. His parents, like him, were labour workers.
6. Who are your parents? Are they alive? What do they do for a living?: His parents were Gnor and Halda Voss. His father; Gnor worked on vehicle production lines, while Halda, his mother, laboured on the uniform looms. To the best of his knowledge, both still live and work productively within Hive Gulgatha.
7. Do you have any other family or friends?: Calidas was an only child with no friends, outside other children of the manufactorum workers. Once they were of age to fetch, carry and work, there was little time for play or childhood games.
8. What is your character’s marital status? Kids?: None. No relationships of note.
9. What is your character’s alignment?: Puritan zealot.
10. What is your character’s moral code?: Calidas has an extreme sense of duty to his faith and cause. He has learned the value of hard work and sees the world in very black and white terms - tempered with his limited “world experience” as an extension of manufactorum labour in a sense.
11. Does your character have goals? To serve the Emperor until gifted his death. To serve the Ecclesiarchy until gifted his death. To engage in righteous toil until gifted his death.
12. Is your character religious? He strictly adheres to the tenets of the Ecclesiarchy of Enoch.
13. What are your character’s personal beliefs? Pray hard. Work hard. Die hard.
14. Does your character have any personality quirks (i.e. anti-social, arrogant, optimistic, paranoid)? As touched on above, Calidas has lived a very channelled, focussed life - first in the manufactorum, then with the Ecclesiarchy. He disguised his lack of worldliness behind relating everything to the strictures he now zealously follows.
15. Why does your character adventure? To serve the Emperor and his faith as an instrument of their collective will. To bring fiery redemption to those who have fallen. To smite the heretic, mutant and xeno.
16. How does your character view his/her role as an adventurer? His true calling and “good honest work”.
17. Does your character have any distinguishing marks (birth-marks, scars, deformities)? His forehead bears the tattooed sigil of the Blessed waters of Enoch (an open palm gliding over closed fist) - the symbol of his faith and fanaticism.
18. How does your character get along with others? Calidas is highly reverent of the Battle Sisters of the Order of the Sanctified Shield. He respects veterans of the Astra Militarum, particularly those of the Gilead Gravedigger regiments. Any who would serve the greater cause are welcome allies once trust is earned.
19. Is there anything that your character hates? The heretical who have fallen and the mutant that is corrupted have his particular enmity.
20. Is there anything that your character fears? He does not fear death in service to faith or Emperor, but failing in his duties is something that give him pause - one masked my the fanatical adherence and administrations of the strictures.

This is Wanderer82 tagging in with his "PDF Trooper turned Medicae" Maxim Ashvayne.

The son of a Chief Medicae Chirurgeon serving the imperial lord on Merydian V (a mining world on the edge of the Gilead system), he enlisted in the PDF as headstrong youth after learning his father's trade at his side. Having seen enough death in conflicts on the harsh world, he returned to his father's practice and started a family. But all that was ripped away when the Ash Pox came. When the plague went viral across the planet, those without means or assistance rose up in rioting and violence, and once again Maxim had to lift a rifle in defense of life.

Hope there is room for one more!

Question for those more familiar with the system than I...

My Ministorum Fanatic starts with either a Hand Flamer or Stub Revolver & War Hammer (and corresponding Weapon Specialisation Talents).

Currently was going the Hand Flamer & Chainsword (picking up latter as an additional Talent and item) as this fits the more stereotypical zealot of the Ecclesiarchy... And sets him up for wielding an Eviscerator down the line :)

However as a former Hiver, who worked the assembly lines in the manufactorum am wondering if Stub & Hammer are better background fits? Would augment my kit with a Combat Shotgun most likely. Benefit here is not having to pick an extra Weapon Specialisation and pumping those 300XP into other areas.

Just curious about the pros & cons from both a combat/thematic equipment point-of-view?

He also has the Frenzy talent so getting into melee will be something I plan to do. Hence aligning him with the Flamer/Chain :)

Any musings or opinions are most welcomed!

Added Note: With a BS of 28, merits of Flamers and Shotguns are high :)

Flamer is thematic for the ecclesiarch character, for sure! I love the smell of burning heretic in the morning. Smells like victory.

On a more practical note, I think it does depend on how many of the group will be focused on melee vs shooting, as they won't thank you for roasting them (Exhibit A and it depresses me how long ago that comic was)

@WW: Aye that's a consideration. My fanatic will likely be in melee also when the opportunity arises so no-one should worry about getting flambéed (unless they are closet heretics, in which case they deserved it lol).

As I said Flamer and Chainsword seem most thematically suited to him, but was just curious on what folks thought or have experience of.

Well, the only thought that comes to mind is that a Stub Revolver is something produced en masse, whereas Chainswords is more of an artisan production.
At the same time, we're Inquisition lackeys now, we're supposed to have upgraded our tools to something better than your average ganger.
My Psyker is also using a Chainsword as his main tool of destruction.
...
Ooops, I meant "Righteous castigation".

@BB: Makes sense chief. True deliverance by cleansing flame and iron teeth it is!

The only true deliverance is to shed the flesh for unflinching steel.

On a related note, Ptah’s going to be a bit of a switch hitter, aiming eventually for the Machine God’s sacred battle panoply of an Omnissian axe and a plasma gun.

As for Calidus’ question, from a purely lore standpoint either combo could really work! The Ministorum has serious resources so depending on his station he could very feasibly have either. A standard line-worker probably wouldn’t have either, as my impression of most hive worlds is that civilian weapon ownership (at least legal ownership) ranges from frowned upon to totally banned.

Apologies all, got a bit busy. I am here to announce the unlucky victims of the next Inquisiton warband!

Maxim Ashvayne, the medicae
Ptah 7-Kappa, the tech-priest
Zealot-Brother Calidus. the fanatic
Havelock Iacton, the sanctioned pysker
Morvius Zaan, the noble seeker

It was incredibly hard to narrow it down to these five, as everyone made excellent submissions! If the chosen unfortunates would report to the discussion thread for processing!
