As the stated final decision nears, our final roster of decisions is 11 characters in contention, representing:
Alignment: 4 LG, 4 CG, 2 N, 1 undeclared
Gender: 2 female, 8 male, 1 genderfluid
Ancestry: 1 dwarf, 1 half-elf, 1 half-orc, 1 halfling, 4 humans, 1 ifrit (mostly human), 2 tieflings
And almost no Class overlap (save for the oracle/cleric and the full cleric):
Complete
In Progress
Withdrawn
Good luck everyone!

I consider most rogues to be strikers, especially with their high burst-damage potential. Most of the ways to achieve reliable sneak attack tend to close the gap between 3/4 BaB and Full BaB. Yes, rogues are skill monkeys, but I was just applying a schema to differentiate the characters and demonstrate the diversity of builds. Most of us have some ability to function in combat and non-combat scenarios, and in combat to function in melee and at range. But yes, all valid points.

Some rogues are built for combat, and fulfill the striker role nicely. Others are not. That's the problem with working from classes and not build plans. You have to make assumptions.
The issue, in my mind, is whether you regret making assumptions or you think you haven't made any.
Edit: That being said, I generally assume a Rogue built with TWF is looking to be a serious contributor in combat.

@Poly
I really like your writeups and summaries, thanks a lot!
Blizzard bloodline is probably a bit busted and could use some toning down. Clearly written by someone who wanted to have a throwing build that works right off the box, and kind of overdid it.
It kind of gets 3 free feats at level 1 (precise shot, point blank shot, implied quick draw since making new icicles is a free action and you thus wont need quick draw), and the icicles start at an enchantment level of +1. They will eventually be outscaled by actual tailor made weapons (no way I see to add any actual weapon enchantments to them, like f.e. seeking, shock, whatever but you also dont need returning), but under EITR, you invest one feat (rapid shot) and suddenly are a very credibly ranged combatant.

Everyone makes assumptions. I looked (briefly) at what people indicated in their character sheets and made a judgment call in an attempt to provide something potentially helpful and/or interesting.
Yes, but not everyone defends their assumptions instead of accepting correction from the creator.
My edit even acknowledged that I would have made the same assumption, well before your reply. Learn to accept input that isn't just praise. It is a massively important skill.

Gosh folks, I didn't mean to start a difficult discussion.
Like Anduriel I do appreciate polyfrequencies overview. Both hustonj and polyfrequencies are right, Boram intends to hamstring pretty much anything he can.
My post was meant to be a light-hearted way of pointing out that Boram is the only one with the ability to disable magical traps ergo you all desperately want him with you no matter where you fall on the overview. Not to be critical of the overview or anyone else's posts or styles.
Amrus Draldronga |
I've made some elaborations on this character's background and motivations. Obviously there are many gaps to fill, but like many others I like to leave some holes to fill during the actual game.
------
Amrus started his career innocently enough, signing on as an agent of the Pathfinder society after graduating from the Arcanimirium in Absalom. Due to deep focus in his studies he had made no real friends to this point. In the Society he continued to favor results over relationships as he gravitated towards the oft-maligned Dark Archive faction. There were two problems with his participation in the society: He had to hand over artifacts acquired on missions and he was in nowhere near the standing needed to access the Dark Archive's innermost secrets. Eventually he falls back to the occupation of his father (a merchant) and puts out a shingle to sell bits of arcane material, both crafted by himself and hidden during Pathfinder missions. Eventually he is caught in the latter is suspended from active missions. As his reputation sours, he heads North across the Inner Sea to Andoran. Here in the Darkmoon Vale he has a nasty run-in with a local lumber consortium and continues on the Druma where he falls in with a mercenary company... Maybe if he participates in another local business before promoting his own he'll see better results.
------
It's unclear what he was seeking from within the Dark Archive, what his ongoing relationship is with his merchant father, or if he even knows who his mother is.

D'witt Hirshue |
I finally typed up a quick little background/motivation. It’s not long and detailed. But it’s a starting point and at least a quick glance at what made him the way he is. Hope it’s enough for now.
D’witt is now a second generation Silver Shield. Adopted as a baby by a human and a dwarf, his human mother was a member of the Shields while his dwarven mother worked a forge. He was loved an cared for by them both. Sadly, as is can happen, his human mother was lost in battle. He never blamed the Shields, instead it drove him to become one himself and live up to her memory. His dwarven mother did not blame them either, supporting her son in his decision.
Growing up by his mother’s forge, D’witt learned about smithing and fine metal work. He showed a knack for clockwork and the mechanical. When he discovered firearms, he became fascinated with them and wanted to learn everything he could about them.
With his mother in the forge most days, D’witt also learned how to cook and clean, to help his mother. He enjoys cooking greatly and is happy to cook for friends. Between the kitchen and learning about gunpowder, it was an easy step to playing with alchemical kits.
Both his mothers were always quick to smile and encourage his love of discovering new thing.
