Talienda Blackhorn |

Talienda grins as Alina blushes when Wayilant kisses her hair.
"My, I do believe you are smitten," she teases, causing Alina to bury her face in her hands.
I'll take another look, but I don't think there's anything that I want from the current loot.

Wayilant Arden |

Standing with Bryndis, among the Flagon Slayer hoard, Wayilant claims one of the crossbows and 10 crossbow bolts. along with both ink pens and ink vials. The cleric also claims on of the small pouches. Wayilant takes 15 silver pieces and one gold coin out of his pouch and puts them in the new pouch.
Once Julie returns, the aasimar hands the pouch to his adoptive daughter.
"Some walking-around money", Wayilant smiled down at his adoptive daughter. "Don't spend it all on sweets, please."

Despite any hopes Wayilant might have, Bryndís continues to be damnably practical about things.
"Later we can look for the right kind of stick. It is a good way to start teaching the sling because it is the same kind of arm movement. But now we have business."
Apple flinging is really a thing if you don't know. You need a small branch from a tree that's thin, but strong enough to sharpen for skewering small apples on it. It needs to be green so it has flex enough to bend when you whip it. Then, you fling the apple by by holding the end of the stick without the apple and using an overhand swing about the same as you'd use playing jai alai. Similar to using an atlatl for a spear, you can get amazing speed and distance. Great fun far away from windows or other objects and people who shouldn't get hit with a 70 mph apple.

Wayilant Arden |

The cleric and the bloodrager continue to discuss Julie's martial education as both sort and sell the remaining loot. Wayilant doesn't reject anything Bryndis says outright, but keeps an open mind.

The day wears on, allowing additional time for rest and exploration. Soon, the waning sun gives way to the approaching evening, leaving in its wake an orange hue that highlights the distant horizon. Most of you find yourselves enjoying a table at the Rusty Dragon when you catch sight of the Sheriff entering the establishment with Risa on his arm. The man looks a bit more presentable than he normally does in his work uniform. You can tell, by the look on his face, that he isn’t overly relaxed. In fact, he looks a bit wound tight. The woman, on the other hand, is smiling with a genuine expression of pleasure. After walking into the place, they both take a seat at a table on the upper floor of the dining area. You recall that the sheriff was sitting at the same table the prior night, which leaves you speculating that the table might be reserved for his use.
After placing an order with one of the servers, the Sheriff excuses himself and then heads your direction. “Well met.” He says in a greeting tone. “With the help of Captain Henderson, I have completed the inspection of the slave ship. The ship will serve me well as a fugitive transport. The timing is convenient seeing I currently have several prisoners ready to go. Anyway, during our inspection we uncovered a hidden stash that had a few more diaries tucked away. I spent the better part of this afternoon reading over them and now have a clear picture of their main temple’s location, as well as the rout they use to get there.” After quickly looking back over at the woman sitting at his table, he continues. ” We completed the sending a short time ago. I managed to get in contact with my old acquaintance Sharpnail. He operates an organization that thrives in the shadows of Ustalav. Seems a bit off the beaten path for a law man, I know, but I can assure you he’s a solid contact. Based on my past dealings with him, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that he can be trusted. His familiarity with Ustalav’s underground will serve us well, considering the cult uses its sewers to navigate their little project.”
The sheriff glances over his shoulder a second time and notes that the woman is now staring at him with a hurry up look on her face. “We were also able to contact Fizzledeck. It turns out that he is willing to transport you from Magnimar to Ustalav, with a small catch.” The sheriff pauses a moment to consider his next words carefully. “Supposedly, Fizzledeck had some sort of unfortunate run-in with Ustalav’s constable. Something about a misunderstanding that involved the man’s wife, a fertility ritual, and his role in the ritual. He says the situation isn’t squashed, meaning he can’t dock in Caliphas’s without fear of reprisal. So, he can get you to Lake Encarthan fairly quick, but you will need to row into Caliphas once he lands.
The sheriff glances over his shoulder a third time and sees the woman start to get up from her seat. “Ok, ok, I must go. Come see me early tomorrow morning and I will work out the details then. I will try and turn in early tonight, so I should be on post bright and early.”
After finishing his last statement, the sheriff turns and quickly heads back to his table. You see the man apologize to the woman before they both settle back down into a comfortable conversation.
Aside from the items I have listed as claimed, and the two unidentified items, I'm assuming that you want to sell everything else. I will have a coin total for everyone later tonight.

Liotierri Magravi "Gravi" |

Gravi nods sagely at the gnome's plight, I completely understand how these things can be misconstrued - comes in my line of work all the time. Sad how people can misinterpret things... I guess we are rowing, and thank you for the name of the contact Sheriff, that will be invaluable to us once we get there.

I'll let GM Nightfiend decide if and when Julie finds her stick.
Once Julie returns to Wayilant, the cleric hands his daughter her own pouch. Julie was overcome with excitment, hugging Wayilant's legs for all they were worth.
Julie and Wayilant then walk over to The Sandpoint Boutique, to shop for some newer clothes for Julie.
Yes/No 50-50: 1d100 ⇒ 12
The duo are able to find a nice white dress for Julie, along with a halfing apron to help Julie clean as she help out in her new dress.
"I've got a feeling I'll be asking Lady Talienda for many prestidigitations" the aasimar said to himself. I wish prestidigitation was a cleric spell."
Calistril, 3rd, 4712, Evening
Wayilant sits with Julie at the table. The precocious little girl happily models her new dress for anyone who shows any interest. The caydenite orders one applejack for Alina, and a large apple juice for Julie. As the sheriff comes over, the aasimar tries to stifle a knowing grin at the clearly uncomfortable Hemlock.
"Thanks for the information, Sheriff."
If Wayilant catches Risa's attention, the cleric smiles, bows his head in her direction, and raises his tankard to the spellcaster in fellowship.
"Have fun, you crazy kids! Wayilant says to the stiff lawman as he returns to Risa's table.

Bryndís Raelyosradinsdóttir |

After all the stuff has been sorted and accounted, Bryndís goes looking for the group of kids Julie used to run with. When she tracks them down, she gives each of them 3 gold coins. Bryndís is feeling flush, and the only real point of wealth is to convert it into prestige by demonstrating great generosity.
Besides, Julie's recent good fortune only illuminates how much the other kids' lives suck.

Wayilant Arden |

The caydenite orders one applejack for Alina, and a large apple juice for Julie.
You know what? That's not fair. Wayilant orders an applejack for Lady Talienda as well. My bad.

Talienda Blackhorn |

Fort vs. Applejack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Oh dear...
Talienda and Alina both thank Wayilant for their drinks. While the young noblewoman notes the caution her handmaiden treats the drink with, it appears as she's not cautious enough herself. About halfway through her glass, she's clearly drunk. She keeps giggling at random things when she's not congratulating and teasing both Wayilant and Alina, though that didn't stop her from laying down the law.
"N-now *hic* sheeeee here Mashtah W-*hic*-Wayilan'. Alin--Alina'sh very shpecial t'me. I *hic* I know how yoush Cayden fellash oper--oper-- act shome-uh-de-time. Shooooo, yoush beddah marry my Alina 'fore you two getsh up to any funny beznish."
After that, Alina helped Talienda up to her room.

Wayilant Arden |

After that, Alina helped Talienda up to her room.
"Come on back if you can, Alina!" The cleric called to his girlfriend. Looking back to the others at the table, the aasimar is flummoxed.
"I've seen mosquitos with better alcohol tolerance than those two. Oh Cayden, what have I gotten myself into?"That was a terrible saving throw!

Alina Cailean |

I know, right? :D
Alina nods and about a half-hour later comes back down. Meanwhile, Echo has busied herself by playing with Julie.
"I am so sorry about that," Alina says after she takes her seat next to Wayilant. "She's going to be mortified when she remembers what happened."
She takes a sip of her drink and leans in and rests her head on Wayilant's shoulder.
"Still," she says as a warm smile spreads across her face. "It's nice to know she cares about me that much. She really is a good friend."

Darius Radulescu |

Calistril, 3rd, 4712, Day
Wanting to clear his head of his recent imprisonment and all the bloodshed that followed, Darius takes a stroll around the town. It is surprisingly clean and quiet, especially for one used to the gutters of the less attractive parts of Korvosa. He spots the alchemy shop, and speeding up walks past it. Too many bad memories, cooking up drugs for the underworld lords.
Eventually, he finds himself gravitating towards the Curious Goblin bookshop. It is almost as if hearing a siren's call from the written words. He enters the shop, and spends good part of the day between the shelves, perusing books of all kinds.

And finally coming out of the store, he finds himself carrying a set of books he just bought. He probably didn't need them. Carrying them across the world is a bother as well. But somehow this always happens...

I would say 50/50 shot you find one of those in Sandpoint's book shop. If your roll comes out negative, there is a 100% chance of acquiring those from Sheila Heidmarch. She is the Pathfinder's representative based in Magnimar and the Flagon Slayer's point of contact.

Looking back on the day’s events, Wayilant finds it slightly amusing that his quest to find a stick for Julie has turned into a problem-solving opportunity for the young girl. Throughout the day, Julie made several attempts to acquire a branch, even to the point of dragging crates over to one of Sandpoint’s smaller trees, but simply found herself two small to reach any usable limbs. At first, everyone felt compelled to step in and resolve the problem for her, but quickly realized that the process has not only become a problem for her to overcoming, but a small version of a quest. Upon the approach of the evening, you could see disappointment in the young girl's eyes, as she still hasn't found a branch yet, but you also detect a solid amount of resolve in her heart. You find yourself a bit curious if she will become successful in her pursuit. With more than enough time for her to continue her efforts the following day, you have decided to let the issue rest and see if she picks it back up in the morning.
The evening wains on and you can see that the sheriff's eyes are heavily glazed over, while his companion seems to show no sign of fatigue. Before long, a tavern server steps out of the crowded main floor and then over to your table. There she offers to take everyone’s order, if any food or drink is desired, and then inquires if the group will be staying the night.

Wayilant Arden |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Wayilant kisses Julie's head, sensing her frustration. The cleric gives his adoptive daughter and encouraging smile, noting her self-determination to find the best stick.
Wayilant shares a plate of curried salmon and cheese blossoms with Julie, knowing he'll likely not have too any blossoms. Thee aasimar sometimes playful spoons food up to Alina's mouth to taste.
Addressing the table, Wayilant expounds. "Flagons Slayers, it is good to share this humble meal and ale with both senior and new members. If I had the presence to suggest it earlier, I might have called us to partake in a sacred caydenite sacrament known as The Drinking Game. But since one of our members retired early, I'm hoping we can bond over a night of ale and wine some other time", Wayilant said, looking up to the stairs where Lady Talienda was taken.
The cleric of Cayden Cailean orders a seasonal ale for everyone (of drinking age) at the table.
Not gonna roll Diplomacy for this. Wayilant is genuinely asking if it if a good idea or not.

Govrina Fireblood |

Govrina sits quietly and eats and drinks without saying much. Her head again covered by her cloak’ voluminous hood. She appreciates Wayilant’s generous spirit, but she refuses to do more than sip the alcohol when her grand adventure soon awaits! She also knows what her father would have said about heavy drinkers and followers of Cayden…
She sighs and tries to enjoy the experience as planned.

Alina Cailean |

Alina playfully nibbles at the offered tastes. She seems to be enjoying herself.
She snuggles up a little closer to the priest of the Lucky Drunk and considers his question.
"It should be my responsibility to look over her, though I wouldn't mind Julie's company. I think she's taken with Echo," she says with a soft giggle as she watches the little girl and the cat play with each other. She sighs after a moment and holds Wayilant's hand.
"Still, I would love to have your company, Master Wayilant," she admits. "I'd also like to get to know more about you."

Wayilant Arden |

Wayilant's and Alina's heads part. "Could someone at the table watch Julie for me, as I take Alina for a short night stroll?"
The cleric asked the table. Diplomacy (if needed): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15

Talienda Blackhorn |

Alina nods.
"I understand," she whispers back.

Liotierri Magravi "Gravi" |

Gravi reads the crowd, and sensing that they'd be staying the night, orders himself dinner, a luxury room, and a hot bath. Sampling the curried salmon, he opts for the apple jack to go with it. How long do we think before we leave? he asks Bryndis.
Hearing Wayliant's question, he nods, Its still a bit early for me, so I'm happy to sit and keep an eye on Little Miss Julie. whereupon he shoots a glance over at the kid, and satisfied that she's there, keeps an eye on her as he slowly sips the brandy-like concoction.

The young lovers make for the ebon twilight outside.

Exiting the Rusty Dragon, Wayilant and Alina make their way towards the docks. The chill along the ocean front leaves little doubt that winter has made its presence known. The number of pedestrians making their way to and from late night establishments is somewhat few, but along the boardwalk you notice a moderate size gathering building up. Off in the distance a large war ship can be seen making its way slowly into the harbor. By the look of it, you would estimate that it's too large to make port and will likely moor off on one of Sandpoint’s fixed anchor points. Raised high above its forward mass, a large blue and red checkered flag dances dramatically with the wind while displaying a pair of sun backed swords towards its center.
While enjoying the stroll along the boardwalk, you both pick up whispers about recruitment and something about a possible fifth crusade to the Worldwound. After many years of endless pursuit, the failing of the fourth Mendevin Crusade left most people feeling exhausted. The idea of a fifth effort, quite literally, gives everyone something to dwell on.
Aside from the large ship, slowly making its way into port, the stroll passes without incident. (That is unless you two wish to indulge in a side bar of RP.)
The evening comes to an end as the main dining hall of the Rusty Dragon begins its nightly closing routine. Patrons staying the night begin heading up to their rooms, while the tavern’s night crew begin sitting up for a long night of drinking. The sheriff and his date head out, waving good night as they pass by.

The following morning, you are awakened very early due to the ruckus of a nearby rooster. (LoL, another rooster.) The rude bird seems to have no moral compass when it comes to being considerate. Its roosting call quite literally echoes throughout the inn making it almost impossible to continue to sleep. Shortly after its escapade ends, a light nock comes to your door, followed by the sound of a fresh wash basin being set next to the door.
Wayilant’s eyes open to catch the morning light streaming through his window as Julie pulls the drapes open and begins peering outside for a tree to victimize. “Dad, are you awake?” She says while peering out the window intently.
Talienda quickly awakens to the screeching sound of the rooster and is immediately met with a throbbing head and a bad taste in her mouth. She wonders if her breath is as foul as she thinks. Alina, who awakens shortly after, finds herself in a similar situation but is quite sure the foul scent she is smelling, isn't her own.
Bryndis, being a bit more accustomed to a night of drinking, bosting, and the alarm of a motivated rooster, awakens refreshed and ready to go.
Darius, Gravi, and Govrina all sleep comfortably through the night and find themselves a little annoyed by the early serenade of the rooster.

The early trip to the garrison is somewhat mundane except for a lot of talk about a larger than normal vessel showing up last night. By the description, it sounds like some sort of war-galleon. Bits and pieces of conversations that you have picked up along the way lead you to believe that it has something to do with another crusade heading to the World Wound. When you reach the garrison, you note that it is still closed. About twelve suited guards wait outside the garrison's courtyard with no sheriff in sight. In the distance, you catch sight of one of the guards as he shrugs, while looking your direction.

Wayilant Arden |

Alina takes advantage of the time and starts asking Wayilant about what he likes and how he became a priest. In turn, she answers any questions he wants to know about herself.
Wayilant smiles at Alina in the gloom. "Well..I'd like to think of myself as a simple man. I enjoy good drink, good company, good music, and good experiences."
"As for how I became a priest, we'll go back to the place I grew up, The city or really, Citidel of Vigil in Lastwall. I'm the only son of Knight-General Barbara Arden, a high-ranking paladin in the Iomedean faith." Wayilant sighs. "I was not an obedient son. I constantly questions the rules my mother lived her life by. I resisted conforming to the rigid lawful structure of Iomedae."
"Then, one night, I was ordered to help burn blasphemous literature. But it was really any books or tomes not promoting Iomedan beliefs. As I was shoveling the tomes into the furnace, this weird wooden sign fell of the shovel and into my line of sight. It was one of Cayden Cailean's Placard of Wisdom. In a very short form, it laid out a less-constrictive means of living, and the glories that awaited those who followed those..guidelines, really. Raised in such an authoritative society, Cayden offered a freedom I didn't think was possible. So I secreted the placard away, studied it, pondered it's meanings. And became an even worse iomedan acolyte", Wayilant chuckled.
"My mother and I fought so often about philosophical ideals and celestial concepts. Eventually, I saw the futility in trying to change the thinking of someone so entrenched in a authoritative faith. So, one night, I took my meager belongings and hid on a southbound caravan. Got caught, got my butt beat. Begged to taught how to bartend in the first tavern I found. And slowly worked my way south to Magnimar, slowly gaining the knowledge and faith needed to become a cleric of Cayden Cailean."
Wayilant became quiet for a moment. "I'm gonna write a letter to my mother in Vigil. Tell her I'm still alive. That she now has a adoptive grand-daughter, and about you", the aasimar pointed at the handmaiden. "Alina. You're my first real serious relationship. I've felt drawn to you. And not by my penis this time. So, yeah, sure, you have the last name of my deity. But I've also seen your kindness and generosity..and loveliness of spirit! I do think your beautiful, and I imagine you look amazing naked", Wayilant smiled devilishly.
"Despite my previous statements, I'm committed into making this relationship work. Try to bare with me. Was there another boy..or girl, in your life romantically? What are some things that you enjoy?"

Wayilant Arden |

As the young couple walks, Wayilant can't help but point out the flag to Alina.
"Those are the colors of Mendev. See the Swords. The flag shows the nations dedication to Iomedae." On the way back to The Rusty Dragon, Wayilant explains the failure of the latest fourth Mendevin Crusade.
Before both lovers go inside, Wayilant finds a dark corner near the entrance, and pulls Alina into it. Shockingly, the cleric and the handmaiden have a 'hot-and-heavy' makeout session before entering the tavern. "Peasant dreams, Wayilant purrs as both walk back into the Rusty Dragon.

I’m going to assume that the group is simply waiting for the sheriff.
After about an hour passes, the sheriff walks up looking a bit off his game. He glances your direction and gives you a nod, indicating that its ok to come in. The guards, outside the garrison, quickly head in and begin preparing for their tour of duty.
The door to the garrison’s main office creaks abruptly as the sheriff pushes it open and then heads in and takes a seat. ‘OK, ok, give me a moment to get situated. I have a little to go over and then you can head out and meet up with Fizzledeck.”
After pulling out an old looking journal, the sheriff continues. From what I could make out of some of their notes, this cult has a church or strong hold somewhere north of Caliphas. Apparently, they use a rout through the city’s sewer system that runs from the southern docks to an exit point somewhere north of the city. To that end, I think Sharpnail will likely know the rout they use and hopefully have some idea where they exit. I doubt any noteworthy activity takes place within that city that Sharpnail doesn't know about. I I’ll send a word that you are heading that way so he will know you’re coming. I suspect, shortly after you get settled, he will likely contact you. I have worked out an identification phrase so he will know you are the right group. If he asks what the weather is like in Sandpoint, you should respond that it is snowing. Once you contact Sharpnail, it will be up to you how to proceed from that point. He is a good contact, use him as you see fit, but be mindful that he strongly prefers to remain unnoticed.”
“With that, I expect you will be heading to Magnimar soon. Give Fizzledeck my best when you see him. Are there any questions?”
I will give it a little time in case there are any loose ends here in Sandpoint. Let me know when you are good to go and I will move things forward. Looking at land-based travel, you have the option of walking, which would take a little over two days seeing the distance between Magnimar and Sandpoint is roughly 54 miles. Using the recently acquired slave ship, or picking up horses would reduce the time to slightly over a day as both move around 40 to 48 miles a day. Gravi will need to decide if he wants to keep his horse stabled for the duration of this adventure or take the steed with him.
During the conversation with the sheriff, Wayilant notices that Julie slides over to one of the guards and begins speaking with him about something. Shortly after, the guard heads over to a small tree, located off to one side of the garrison’s forge, and brakes off a small branch. After he hands the branch to Julie, she thanks him and then heads into the office with her newly acquired branch.

Alina Cailean |

Alina listens to Wayilant's tale, though growing up in cosmopolitan Absolom has left her without much in the way of a frame of reference for what life in a city like Vigil must be like. When the conversation turns to the cleric's feelings for her and how she must look naked, her cheeks burn bright red and it takes a few attempts for her to answer his questions.
"No, I was twelve or thirteen when Lady Talienda's father brought me into the household, and romance wasn't something I thought of much until recently," she says. "I enjoy cooking and baking, I guess, but I learned that as part of my duties. In the end, I'm just a humble maid and I'm lucky to have someone as kind as you and Lady Talienda to count as friends. I fear that I'm not all that interesting of a person."
Later, when Wayilant pulls her into an alley near the Rusty Dragon, Alina is confused at first, then bashful and shy as she learns why he did so. It takes her a little bit to come out of her shell and warm up, but when they pull apart to head back inside, she finds that she wants more. Still, however, it is getting late and Julie needs to get to bed. She smiles sheepishly as she and Wayilant go their separate ways for the night and he wishes her pleasant dreams.
Said dreams are indeed pleasant, if not a little overstimulating for the sheltered half-elf.

Talienda Blackhorn |

Talienda is indeed mortified by her behavior the previous evening when she wakes up and swears that she'll never be drunk in public again. After cleaning up and thoroughly scrubbing her teeth and tongue, she meets the others downstairs and joins them in heading to the Garrison. She keeps quiet for the most part, though she seems to get a lot more agitated around Wayilant now, practically squirming whenever she feels his eyes on her, and she can't meet Alina's eyes.

Govrina Fireblood |

Govrina breaks her quiet demeanor and lowers her hood.
“I don’t have any questions Sheriff, But I would like to thank you and Sandpoint for your trust and help in all of this. You and your people are sending us off on a hope and prayer that we will succeed. I for one, especially for my experience with such things, find that heartening and want to extend my sincere appreciation. Im sure you may still have doubts about some of us here, but I at least promise to see this through. My life’s journey has only started and I can only hope to succeed. Truthfully I have nothing else to look forward to, and I find myself eager to start the rest of my life…however short that may end up being.”

Wayilant Arden |

=Alina Cailean]"No, I was twelve or thirteen when Lady Talienda's father brought me into the household, and romance wasn't something I thought of much until recently," she says. "I enjoy cooking and baking, I guess, but I learned that as part of my duties."
"Really? What would you call your favorite dishes to make?" Wayilant asked. "Do you prefer cooking or baking?"
"In the end, I'm just a humble maid and I'm lucky to have someone as kind as you and Lady Talienda to count as friends. I fear that I'm not all that interesting of a person."
"I don't know, Alina", the aasimar mused. "Most people have hidden depths to them. Take 'Rina. She's a tiefling, but has a power dwelling deep within her that might not be connected to her lower planar birthright. Poor gal has been through a lot. likely way before her powers emerged."
"You yourself, as I understand it, have part of your past hidden from you."Wayilant smiled hungrily at the innocent handmaiden. "Hopefully I'll be delving your depths someday soon."
"I don't suppose you've heard of any caravans from Sandpoint heading to Magnamar?", Wayilant asked.
The cleric sees his adoptive daughter with a stick in hand. Wayilant smiles down and folds his arms. "Well, what do have here? Have you tested it with a few swings? Are you happy with the stick? How it feels in your hand? How it feels when you swing it?"

Liotierri Magravi "Gravi" |

Liotierri takes note of each of his companion's demeanors, the blossoming romance between some, the retreat inward of others. Not having much to add at these moments, the Calistrian seems content, as if waiting his time for something, but not pushing the issue at all. Do we ride to Magnimar, or take ship? I can see benefits to either, but I just need to figure out my horse's disposition either here or there. I somehow doubt we'll need him in Caliphas. he smiles at the others.

Govrina Fireblood |

Govrina raises an eyebrow and smiles.
"Isn't Magnimar fairly close by Gravi? Couldn't we just walk there in a couple of days if we needed to? Leave your horse here in care of the Sheriff, assuming he's willing. I'm willing to bet they already have a noble stable of steeds for serving justice here in Sandpoint..."

The sheriff ponders Wayilant’s question a moment before responding. After glancing over at Govrina for a moment, he takes in a deep breath and then chimes in. “The prospect of joining a caravan to Magnimar is a reasonable one. As the young lady pointed out, the walk itself only takes a couple days. Most folks end up staying at the Darktooth Inn, which is located somewhat between the two cities. The proprietors of the Old Fang in Magnimar set up the way point in order to provide a margin of comfort for those transporting goods from one location to the other. The main road to Magnimar is cobbled with flat stone, so the trip is fairly comfortable. Because of the number of merchant’s utilizing the path, it’s patrolled frequently making it fairly safe as well. Granted you can’t account for random events, like wildlife or the occasional mind-numbing humanoid who decides to take a crack at an easy payday. If you decide to link up with a caravan, I recommend heading over to the Merchant’s League and speaking with Jasper Korvaski. He barters in transport and is known to hire on the occasional mercenary to safeguard a shipment. You might be able to pick up a few extra coins for the trouble.”
The sheriff leans back in his chair and begins to smile. You notice his eyes shift over to Julie, who is heavily focused on pulling a number of small leaves off her branch and then tossing them on the floor. “On a small side note, Ustalav is a very suspicious place. Their residence come across as being very reserved, and for good reason. Because of their superstitious nature they don't react well to anything that appear out of the ordinary. I also suggest taking care to avoid any unnecessary encounters with the constable. He is a tolerant man, but if you get on his bad side, you'll find him to be a very decisive law keeper. Meaning, troublemakers don’t last long in Caliphas. Between his legion of security, and his attention to the letter of the law, the man ranks right up there with the Order of the Nail when it comes to being rigged. Thinking about it, I suspect he might have even been a Hell Knight at one point. Anyway, let me know if you need anything else from me. If no other option presents itself, I’m sending Captain Henderson to Magnimar with a couple of these prisoners in a day or so. I think the captain said the ship would be ready day after tomorrow.” The sheriff shrugs. “Up to you though. There are more than a few options.”

Wayilant Arden |

Wayilant stays quite as he ponders, then poses the idea. "Well..? If Captain Henderson is going to Magnimar in a few days.. He knows us. Kinda owes us. Perhaps he can be convinced to allow us passage to Magnimar?"
The cleric looks to the other Slayers for their input.

Talienda Blackhorn |

"I guess it's fine," Talienda says.

Wayilant Arden |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Wayilant gives the bardic noblewoman a queer look. "Are you alright, Lady Talienda?"

Talienda Blackhorn |

The young noblewoman squirms under Wayilant's gaze.
"I-I just..." she stammers as her face reddens in embarrassment. "I'm a little nervous about sailing is all," she manages to get out after a few more false starts.

Bryndís Raelyosradinsdóttir |

The time passes for Bryndís in a sedate and mundane way. A bit of eating, a bit of drinking, selling stuff off for cash, and some sleep when not doing those other things. The high point is the purchase by her of a stout composite longbow compatible with her strength. It's time for her to relegate the her sling to backup when other backup weapons fail.
She is neutral on the question of how to travel to Magnimar. Walking, going by caravan, or taking passage on a ship are all fine and will get them where they're going.
Buying a +4 Strength composite longbow. Did we ever figure out the black studded leather armor?

Govrina Fireblood |

Govrina shrugs at the question of travel.
”Im good with whatever the consensus is.”

Bryndís Raelyosradinsdóttir |

Wow! I was 100% convinced Bryndís had nothing in Spellcraft. But I finally looked anyway, just in case, and she does!
Bryndís tries to puzzle out a couple of items that are still mysteries.
Studded Leather: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Blue Potion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Heh. Then she goes for a nap.

Talienda Blackhorn |

I think I may have tried for these already, but I can't remember. Anyway, here's Tali's shot at it.
Spellcraft Armor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Spellcraft Potion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Wayilant Arden |

The young noblewoman squirms under Wayilant's gaze.
"I-I just..." she stammers as her face reddens in embarrassment. "I'm a little nervous about sailing is all," she manages to get out after a few more false starts.
Wayilant nods, then gets up from his chair to his arm around Lady Talienda. "After our last excursion, that response is valid. I shall be vigilant against any foes, undead or otherwise. Alina and Julie will also protect you and us all. Right, ladies?" Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Wayilant votes for Captain Henderson's ship to Magnimar.
Darius Radulescu |

"Hey, whatever saves us the trouble of walking... Henderson's ship sounds good." Darius comments, sipping his morning brew.
"Yeah - Ustalav... Any weird laws out there we should be aware of, sheriff? I'm not wanting to accidentally break any..."

The sheriff rolls his eyes at the thought of defining the laws of Ustalav. “Ustalav is a fractured province that is loosely governed by different nobles. I would try and avoid the law altogether if possible. For the most part, I suggest keeping with an honorable perspective. Anything dealing with necromancy will obviously be unwelcome do to their past experience with the undead. If you get into a tight spot, I have a sealed missive you can take with you that will explain your connection to Mayor Deverin. It will grant you some immunities to minor infractions, but please don’t use it unless you absolutely have to.” After reaching into his desk drawer, he pulls out a sealed letter and slides it over to your group.
I will move things forward sometime tomorrow using Captain Henderson's ship as the chosen form of transport. Remaining loot. Take it with you, sell it, or store it with the sheriff?
