Perry - personally, I find it hard to award a Bennie for being an a**hole, and as a GM while you are playing to your Hindrance, there's not been any negative consequences to your actions. For example, if you mouth off in a bar and start a fight and have to pay for damages, or blow a deal by being abrasive, that'd be worth a Benny.

That's a provocative statement, GM, since IC Perry is the *only* character demonstrating any concern for A)Mark's daughters and B)the ship. He's the f#+&ing captain, afterall. You asked for roleplaying; don't complain when you get it.

I asked what are the rules for intoxication because if there are any I intend to play to them. That's where the bennie comes in.

Perry is ready to go in.

Perry - it's not about that you *are* concerned, it's about how you're *expressing* that concern...

So, who's at the front of the conga line at the front door? How are you trying to get in?

Let's stop litigating this. It's over.

Perry readies his uzi and waits for Harold to make his move.

Apparently there are no rules for intoxication short of Poison. I won't volunteer a house rule.

I made my last post before checking the Discussion and my PM's.
In an earlier post, I said : since your addiction is common and legal, I'm going to say that for a Major Hindrance, Smarts, Agility, and all linked skills suffer a −2 penalty while actively drinking, such as now.

Athletics d4, Common Knowledge d6, Notice d6, Persuasion d6, Stealth d4, Occult d8, Faith d8, Shooting d6, Survival d4 | AG d6, SM d8, SP d8, ST d4, VI d6 | Pace 6, Size 0, Parry 2, Tough 5 | Power Points: 9/10 | Wounds: 0 | Male, huge cock

I have to option to not drink more than once a day, so this could be fair. Although the penalty for the Major Hindrance Unlucky is a mere -1 to Notice and Common Knowledge checks. This seems harsh by comparison, and a practiced drunk is often high-functioning. I don't know a different way to do though.

Harold tries his damnedest to lead the group in a quiet route back to the front of the cabin.

Once at the front, he will stand off the side, and politely knock on the door, using the log or wood as a bullet stop in case its needed.

Harold - Strength vs. some Target Number I'll make up for how well built and bolted the door is...

Click HERE for a map of the cabin. The bottom is the front door, with windows on either side. Of course, you have no idea what's on the inside. The differences between the map and reality are :
-There's no back door.
-There are curtains over all the windows.
-I question the wisdom in putting a window in the bathroom right next to the toilet...but then again...curtains.

Crap not what was intended

he takes a moment and plows through the door when the individual inside should be distracted by the busted window

Despite the TV and movies, you do take damage when going thru a window...

Shattered glass: 1d4 ⇒ 11d4 ⇒ 21d4 ⇒ 31d4 ⇒ 4 Heh-how linear...
ACE!: 1d4 ⇒ 3 = 7

Since it just meets your Toughness, you take some mild cuts and are Shaken.

The bad guys open fire on the body coming thru the window (-1 because of the unexpectedness) :

Shooting: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Shooting: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Shooting: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Doing
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

Which bounces off your armor.

What you see:
There are 3 men, 2 crouched behind the sofa in front of the fire, and one around the corner in the hall. There is no sign of the girl.

Everyone's up! Harold, you can make your move now.

Dataphiles

Parry: 4| TOU: 6(2) {}|PP: 10/15| Bennies: 3/3|

Because its not the start of my turn I don't get a free Spirit roll, yeah? Then I use a benny to immediately recover from Shaken so I can finish my move and take an action.

Emma stoically brushes some glass from her overly-large coat and steps purposefully forward. Once her position in the space-time continuum has eclipsed the edge of the couch she raises her pepper spray and fires.

"You may commence as to firing!" she calls out the door toward the others.

By my count my pace is enough to take straight ahead and past the edge of the couch so they don't get cover. Also I can't access the pepper spray rules right now. I think it's a Vigor at -2 or be stunned?

Shooting!: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Shooting ACE!!: 1d4 ⇒ 3
WILD Shooting!: 1d6 ⇒ 6
When it rains it pours...: 1d6 ⇒ 5 = 11. Do we get some kind of bonus for a Raise? Maybe Vigor is at -4?

Arabella moves along the wall to the right of the front door (as she is looking at it) to the window. She listens near the window.

Notice (listening): 1d6 ⇒ 5
Ace: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Pause here for feedback. Meanwhile, a few questions about the house.

Is the house wall made of sturdy enough material to stop a bullet, does it appear? If Arabella wants to try to safely break the window using an elbow while wearing an armored coat, is a roll required, and if so, what to roll?

Emma - correct, the Free Spirit roll would come at the start of your next turn. So, Benny spent. And they are 5" away, so no Cover. Note that you can only target one of them. Since the rules don't say anything about something extra happening on a Raise for pepper spray (but they do for many other things), I'm going to say no extra benefit.

Vigor-2: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

The guy falls to the ground, screaming and rubbing his eyes.

Notes for myself (I really *hate* the new named states in SWADE, and Stunned references *two other* states!).

Stunned:

Stunned characters are :
• Distracted (this is removed at the end of the victim’s next turn as usual)
• Are Vulnerable (this remains until they recover from being Stunned by a Vigor roll)
• Fall prone (or to their knees, GM’s call)
• Can’t move or take any actions
Recovery: At the start of a Stunned character’s turn, he makes a Vigor roll as a free action. Success means he’s no longer Stunned but remains Vulnerable until the end of his next turn. With a raise, his Vulnerable state goes away at the end of this turn.

Distracted : subtracts 2 from all Trait rolls until the end of his next turn.

Vulnerable : actions and attacks against the target are made at +2 until the end of his next turn.

Arabella hears a male voice inside screaming in acute pain. Actually, with one door and one window open, everyone can hear the screaming.

Arabella - the walls look thick enough to stop a bullet. Since Emma thru her entire body against the glass, she broke it automatically. With an elbow, make a Strength roll of 2 or better, and the window breaks.

Harold - you forgot to re-roll the Wild die on the Benny roll :
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 5

For future reference, please read p. 105 in the SWADE rules. For simplicity, you need to declare a default type of ammo, either shot or slug. Shot gives you a +2 bonus on your Shooting roll, so your first roll would have made it, take your Benny back. Short-range (up to 12") damage is 3d6, you can roll that one.

Harold, please also give me a Notice-1 roll.

Arabella, just to be clear, Emma jumped thru the window to the left of the door, so you're breaking the one to the right side of the door? Once I know where you are, I'll describe what you see.

Able keeps his pistol handy, but stays in position outside, waiting to provide backup. He loved a good gunfight, but he preferred face to face challenges; a quickdraw at the poker table, or facing someone down across a street at high noon. In these kind of situations, chaotic and rushed, people got shot for stupid reasons, and he was more useful waiting out here, where he could stop anyone from getting away, or move in to patch up holes in anyone worth saving after the shooting was done.

Held action, which he will allow to expire if no runners appear or no one calls for his help.

Harold - you missed the Ace in your Damage roll :

And please see my latest post in Discussion about Ace re-rolls and penalties.

Your shot hits the guy square in the chest, and blows a hole right thru it, splattering his companion with blood and gore. He starts to scream louder, saying "Don't kill me! Don't kill me!".

You catch some movement out of the corner of your eye, and turning around, see another guy in the hallway holding a gun. As he sees you seeing him, he holds his hands up in surrender. But he says "No! No, no, no, NO! She belongs to me!"

Harold - ummm...if the guy sees you're out of ammo, he's going to try and get a shot out on you since he's got a loaded gun in his hand. I'm not going to draw cards for this, and technically only you and he get to act on this new "round", but I'm bending the rules for drama and suspense. Make an Agility-2 roll (-2 because you're reloading) : highest roll shoots first. If the target isn't downed from it, they shoot second. Go ahead and roll Shooting and damage as well, so we can move this along faster.

The other guy drops his weapon and says to Emma "Take it, I can't see anything."

Arabella - we're technically out of combat now, so you can post whatever you want to do with the situation you've got.

Oh boy, this guy's a Wild Card!

Emma looks on dispassionately at the exchange of gunfire. She was about to intervene when she remembers what this situation is. She looks at Harold. "You have the Right." She nods once.

Of course she is referring to the Right of Retribution. When someone has been injured by another party, it is widely agreed that the impetus as to whether they get to surrender or be killed is held by the injured party. Afterall, what say does someone who has -not- been injured by someone have over the say of someone who has? It's not like their action is part of a uniformed military or held in sway by any agreed-upon rules convention.

Thusly Emma acknowledges that if Harold wants to take more gunshots at this perpetrator, that is entirely within his prerogative.

Also to shoot someone and then try to surrender is just rude.

Her part in the exchange wholly dispensed with she ensures the non-lethality of both blind-surrender guy and swiftly cooling corpse by relieving them of their bullets and gunbelts.

Then she puts one of the gunbelts on.

Whether the other PCs even acknowledge Emma's concept of Right of Retribution and whether they want to act on it is up to each PC.

Arabella:
The girl on the bed stretches having been immobile for some time, drinks some water to remove the dryness in her mouth from the gag, and says "Thanks! Fred has some crazy idea that I'm in love with him, which I most definitely am not. It sounds like the shooting out there is over, but who won?"

He checks the bodies in turn, checking to see if any still cling to life.

Looking at his shipmates he asks, "Were any of our number wounded?
